I hope they train one of their workers because I just came for some flea mist for my cat and asked a worker who was on the phone where was as and he was annoyed to help and and sent me to the dog aisle and when I asked again where the cat's was at he didn't even try to help or send me to a specific aisle just pointed at a general direction like wtf. I was really looking forward to having my dog groomed at Petco after waiting for weeks for an appointment. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The staff member who assisted me was not friendly, and after leaving my dog, I received a call an hour later saying they couldn't groom him. So now that I have my babies, I always see myself going to Petco. They have the food that I like to give my little babies, which is the blue buffalo wet kitten food and also Royal Canin wet kitten food. I always order online just because it's so much easier, and I always either do store pick up or curbside pick up. Also, when I order online, I always get some type of discount when I do pick up or curbside, which is excellent! I save a lot of money, and they always have little promotions going on when you order online as well. Every time I go to Petco, I'm always able to find parking right upfront. When I do curbside pick-up, my car is easily findable. They do not have designated parking spots for curbside, which they should have. Yikes. Three weeks ago I booked an appointment on Petco's website for May 25th with Kimberly M. Fast-forward to today, May 25th, I arrive to my appointment & am greeted by Kimberly. First, she tells me I have no appointment on the books, I respond that I have an appointment booked for today & show her my confirmation text I received from Petco. Suddenly she "finds" my appointment, but claims it's with a different groomer who is not coming into work until 3:15. At this point, I'm shocked at the attitude, unprofessionalism, & inaccuracy. I tell Kimberly that I'm certain that I booked the grooming with her (since she's the head of the grooming department) & she tries to act like I mistakenly chose a different groomer while booking my appointment. Finally, I pull up my original confirmation email that shows I booked my May 25th appointment with the groomer Kimberly. Upon seeing this, Kimberly carelessly responds that "computer glitches" happen & she can't groom my dog because she's "off in an hour." Her only solution was that I have my dog groomed by an entirely different person who isn't even into work until 15 minutes past my appointment time. From someone who is the lead of the grooming department, this encounter was entirely inappropriate & unprofessional. Kimberly was rude & unaccommodating for a mistake on her part. The fact that she went from me not having an appointment, to having one, to it being with someone who wasn't even at work at the time of my appointment shows she was lying & obviously tried to push my grooming appointment off onto one of her employees so she could get off of work early. read more

I came in for four mice and saw an undwarf hamster. A different breed. They assumed that because I requested feeder mice for my snake and then wanted one white hamster, I was accused of the hamster would be fed to my snake, which is a significant cost difference between four female mice, 4*7 =28 and one hamster $30. I wanted the hamster as a pet, and they declined because they said I asked for the mice first, which is utterly ridiculous. You can't make assumptions about what a person will do with their purchase. Then I was offered when I called 1888-8247257 and was promised a 5-dollar discount, but it was not in the system. So I went to a three-store total, where no such breed of hamster was sold, and then finally found feeder mice at the third location, but still not that breed of hamster. She refused to speak to the advisor on the phone. Gabe was excellent, trying to talk to her, informing her I was a breeder and trainer. She refused to speak to the corporation's supervisors on the phone, so I filed a complaint. Dislike people making assumptions without asking at least proper questions. She did not know about my experience with owning snakes. She was rude, and the fact that my discount was not in the system made me more irate, so now I refuse to shop at any Petco. read more

made a pick up order and sent my mom to pick it up since she was in the area. i never visit this location. i had her name on the pick up order and she was having a hard time receiving the order. usually when i've done online pick up the most that is asked is a valid ID. the worker insisted on also the last 4 order numbers which i have never not once been asked for. im not sure if it's just this specific location or if there was a discriminatory concern. given our political social climate i cant help but feel that my mom was being racially profiled and that's why they were demanding additional information. probably wont pick up from this location again, interaction just did not sit right with me. read more

Even though it's Petco they could maybe sweep the floors hourly especially days when they have walk in vaccination day. Ya gotta take in consideration there are puppies out there and there noses are sniffing who knows what on these floor. I had to hold my pup because he was sniffing random fur and all kinds of another crap from different animals that could possibly harm him. As I stood in the line for the walk in vaccinations provided by their company vetco a gentlemen took my name and number and checked me in informing me of a 20 minute wait and he would text my phone when it was my turn if I decided to walk around the store. I politely declined (didn't want to risk my pup eating or sniffing something ungodly). After forty minutes of waiting to which I didn't honestly mind a young lady ask for me and my pup and as she pulled up my file she calmly said oh he's not due for another week or so. So after driving 30 minutes to get there and 40 minutes standing in line you could imagine my annoyance. I said pardon me she explained they like to wait a couple of weeks in between blah blah blah blah blah.... that's cool. The company policy is what it is, this isn't the first time I've been inconvenienced by Petco's (Vetco) I didn't even write about that experience because I didn't have the energy but because it's happened twice I found time. I told her I completely get all that but why didn't the guy say something I've been patiently standing for 40 min waiting drove 30 only to tell me it's not going to happen. She said well he just checks people in. And good luck resisting Homegoods, also in this plaza. Home Depot is there, too. I can resist that place no prob. Once inside Petco, I encountered a helpful employee who offered to check the back storage room for more of the cat food I was hunting down (I already found some on the shelves). No luck finding more, but her effort was appreciated. Overall, I think this is the prettiest Petco I've seen due to the landscaping. It's accessible via Crenshaw, Skypark & Lomita Blvd. and has a huge parking lot. Zamperini Field/Torrance Airport is nearby, too, should you wish to arrive in your private helicopter with your pampered furbabies. OK that's a stretch but one can dream..... We won't mention this to my cat. 2.5 months ago I came to this Petco to buy my kids their first small pet. We were in search of a cute girl guinea pig. They were hesitant when I asked if this one was a girl but kept Insisting that it was. I bought it still with a gut feeling they didn't know what they were doing or how to distinguish boy from girl. I got another guinea pig from another store also girl so they can not be alone since they need to be in pair. I am reading some of the reviews and I can't say I have had a bad employee to deal with, or a good one for that matter....I have been in a handful of times recently(been coming in this location for yeeeeeaaarrrssss) to get crickets for my kids bearded dragon. The last three times, there is no one in the fish/ reptile area. I have waited patiently and I believe the person. At the register sees me(I can see them and they look in my direction). Usually after a five-ish minute wait, I just grab a bag and get the crickets myself(I have gotten pretty efficient at bagging...) When the cashier asks how many, she is flustered because there is nothing written on the bag, and I say I did it myself because no one was there.... She advised me to come around 5pm-5.30pm. We got there in time & she worked on her right away. She did a great job on Celine, a 3 yo Shih Tzu (recently adopted). Full service was done (getting ready for summer) ; she was patient, helpful & very thorough about the process, even with the time & products. They sell expired food. We purchased a 14lb dry food in July 2022 and had been feeding our dog for about 1.5 months until she started refusing to eat and puking. Then I realized the whole bag smells like used oil when it gets rancid. Turns out the package has a best before date Aug 2021. Price is the reason for the low score don't get me wrong the store has always been good and the people good but the prices are now out of line. I've been shopping here for many years and always like going in with my dog and getting his food and treats etc but I'm so bummed out the last few times that I felt a need to give this yelp. I know inflation is everywhere but they took it one step further! Same treats I've been getting for years that used to be buy one get one half off is now buy 3 and the size of the treats r smaller etc. how can most people even afford to buy their dogs good treats at these prices. I just went in and bought 11 items the same things as always and it was $233 and that's just treats like smart bones witch btw r 26.99 for just the 30 minis. Anyways i checked Chewy and they r only $16. What? I checked everything I bought on chewy and I would have paid $170 vs $233. Again people and place r good but not at those prices. They just lost me as a customer unless something changes. The rewards they give are just a few bucks here and there so just not worth it. So many dogs not getting good treats because no one can even afford them! Last time I had to buy big bag of food which btw is almost $80 now my bill was over $300. That doesn't even last one month! This is bad and I don't see them being open much longer unless they do something about this. Chewy here I come. DO NOT GO THERE!!! Horrible store manager!!!!!!!! I took my dog to this place for grooming, but their poor groomer cut my dog's ear with scissor because of poor haircut. That was obviously deep scar along with bleeding, so we took my dog to emergency hospital right after we met with our dog. We requested store manager and groomer to explain why this incident happened, however store manager rejected my request because it is not allowed for them to bring groomer in front of customer who upset. Their ridiculous excuse is just to protect employee. I have never heard such a horrible company rule protecting their employee and ignoring customer.
