Can not actually review their grooming service because they cancelled me at the last minute. I made the appointment on a Thursday for the upcoming Saturday. On Sat they phoned and cancelled because my little girl was too old and had arthritis. What 14 yo doggie doesn't? Since they obviously are not experienced enough to bath and trim an older dog I do appreciate them letting me know. However. how about letting me know on the Thursday I made the appointment or Friday to give me time to find another groomer? A little more consideration on their part would have gone a long way vs a last minute "too bad". Almost all in my area are closed on Saturdays. read more

I will have to say that the only thing that went right was that they took my dog on time. After that it went downhill. They told me that it would take 2.5-3hours but after 3 hours I hadn't heard anything. I called 3 times and each time I got the voicemail. This worried me because by this point I still hadn't heard anything. I was finally able to get ahold of the grooming desk who stated that my dog had tried to jump off the table several times and wasn't finished because they had to get other equipment. I asked if my dog was ok and they said yes and that it would be another 45 min till she was done. 15 min later they called to let me know that I could pick her up. I arrived and went to the desk. The lady at the desk went and got the groomer who came out with my dog and stated, " We don't think we can help you again she is too old to come here." This surprised me because when I had arrived the ladies who took my dog in stated that they did take dogs that are under 17 years old (my dog is 15 yrs old). When she stated they don't take dogs her age I corrected the groomer who stated that she was just too hard to manage and they didn't have the staff to handle her. I don't mind if that is the case but the groomer was extremely rude and has very inappropriate customer service. She handed me the bill and told me to pay at the front. This was the first time I have used their service and it will be the last. I will drive to the other side of town to use PetSmart who has taken care of my dog for years but is hard to get to from my new home. IF you are incapable of dealing with older dogs or dogs who get scared than you are in the wrong field. I would recommend for people to stay away from the Cortaro PetCo. read more

My son is autistic and We couldn't say no to purchasing a baby tortoise and a bearded dragon at a reptile show. We had no idea what we needed and we were feeling anxious. Bailey and Taylor were rockstars! They helped us figure out what we needed and were able to help us with a Petco savings subscription which was a huge help. It can be difficult with an autistic child to explain when you don't have all the funds needed to get new pets but we couldn't say no as he loves pets so Much. I've been to this particular Petco location several times since we moved to the area in 2017 and haven't encountered any significant issues related to staffing, product availability, or pet care. Last year, we purchased a beta fish here and all of the tank/equipment and luckily, we just celebrated his 1 year "birthday." All of the staff here have been friendly enough. So I brought my dogs all three of them. They're small dogs to go get groomed and my other two dogs did fine and they're all rescue dogs. We had specifically told them dog gizmo is going to try to bite the clippers and Scissors, but it's funny how they said they couldn't do anything or muscle but they couldn't say anything before they did it we got a discount, but it might be we should've got it for free and it was specifically the manager and because of it my dog gizmo has been banned from every Petco grooming in the United States because they put him into the system is ridiculous they told us that first I just got done without haircut. Never taking my dogs back here again I'll go somewhere else. The service is horrible. Nobody knows how to communicate. The building was nice though the guinea pigs are cute. The cats were a little scared but otherwise horrible. This was the3rd time I've taken my dog to be groomed at Petco in Marana. The 1st time, he came out so cute. I was happy. The 2nd time was the day before Christmas. I wasn't thrilled with how he came out, but the excuse was that they're extra busy and he was done quickly. I let it go. Today, he got a complete different groomer. I was given a chart to show how long I wanted his hair left. When I went in to check on how things were going, I saw a pile of fluffy curls all over a table on to the floor. My pup was in the back. I asked his groomer if that was my pups fur, she said yes. I told her isn't that too much. She then started to tell me because had matting and I chose that amount of fur off. I told her no, I brush him every other day, at least, and by then, it was too late. When they were finished, I left with my pup practically bald. His skin shows through, it's still winter!!!! I paid, but didn't tip!! My poor pup. I'm never going back. Be very careful. They're not cheap either. read more

Grooming: One 6 lb dog, most of the time the dog was in a kennel due to them all going to lunch at the same time, I was told something different when I made the appointment and the employee said I wasn't told that, lied to me about what was going on in the back with my dog, I happen to know my dogs bark, charged more than the quote I was told when I went in to schedule the appointment. I'll gladly continue to use my Mobile Groomer at twice the cost and be super content knowing my dog is in good hands. read more

I took my dog in to Petco for a grooming at 1:30 today and picked her up at 5:45. She was getting a bath/trimming/nail trimming. My dog hadn't eaten since breakfast, and the way she drank water when I got her home told me she did not drink any water there. Never again will I take her there or do any business in this store. 12 minutes ago Usually I go to petsmart because the animals are in better condition. This time I trusted in petco, BIG MISTAKE. My 10 year old daughter saved up $100, which took her months to do. She bought a bearded dragon from the petco on cortaro. Her dad and I bought all the extra things he needed 2 separate lamps, calcium, multi vitamins, bathing water, dubia roaches, etc. She bathed him every single day and took very good care of him. However only having him for 4 weeks, he passed away today. I spoke with 2 different managers today and explained to them I could not find the receipt but knew they have a copy because the store keeps one and the customer keeps one. I even explained to them that I have my bank statements to prove purchase. Regardless of that, they refused to help me. I spent at least $200 for pet purchase and everything the bearded dragon needed. I will never shop at this store or any petco again. As a hairdresser in the area with a very big clientele, I will also tell any client that asks where to shop for their pets, to never go to petco. Huge disappointment. I took my dog to get a simple rabies booster. I never go to Petco but it seemed convenient I will never go there again. It was chaotic, disorganized and the staff were rude. They were rushed and communication was poor. When it was time for my dog to be seen by the vet I brought her in and was told I had to step out and go pay up front. I did not get a chance to give the vet Kathryn my paperwork in order to make sure she knew it was a booster and the next due date was in 3 years. I wasn't allowed to stay with my dog while she got her shot. So I paid the cashier and a young blonde female in very wrinkled gray scrubs brought my dog to me at the cash register. I asked her if it was a 3 year booster. She assumed it was the first shot and told me I need paperwork. She also told me to stop talking loudly and was dismissive of my paperwork from the county. She asked me to leave the store because she said I was being loud. I told her no and asked to speak to the vet. The Vet named Kathryn came over and informed me that the county was very strict about documentation. I don't know what the young woman told the vet but it seemed nobody wanted to see the county paper or answer my question. At that point I was angry and frustrated. Im sure my voice was louder and I waived my documention in front of the vet stating again--here it is. Then some employee named Angel walks over and insists I need to leave the store. The vet walked away. So now the slovenly dressed girl who claims she is the managerI told Angel to call a cop if he was so concerned about my behavior. I left. I will never go there again convenient or not. It was hands down the worse customer experience I ever had. read more

We adopted our dog Iris at this store and have been taking her here to be groomed ever since. She is afraid of noises and the clipperas,at first, freaked her out. The groomers informed me of a less busy day too bring her in when they could have more time to work with her. I have had 3 of their groomers work with her and they are always pleasant and very nice with me, and also with Iris. On her last visit she was groomed perfectly, smelled lovely and was very happy. I appreciate their knowledge and their workmanship with my dog. I have a monthly visit set up and am very secure knowing she is in good hands while at their facility. read more

Only giving one star because I have too! Amanda in grooming is unfit to groom dogs let alone interact with people. She cut all of my 10lb dog's nails to the quick, until they bleed and one completely in half and then had the nerve to tell me I have an aggressive dog. Well, I think you would be aggressive too if someone was making all of your toes bleed. She also practically threw her on the floor when giving her back to me. She had a huge attitude and was yelling at me because of her incompetence at trimming a dog's nails. I thought I was getting professional service, but all I got was an upset and bleeding dog. I will NEVER be taking my dog back there and will happily travel an hour out of my way to go to the amazing groomers at the PetCo in Oro Valley, who have only ever told me how sweet my little doggie is. read more

This time, at this location- I can barely tell if she even had a bath and she certainly doesn't smell good the way she did from the other grooming, by a long shot. I am a retiree on a fixed budget who already allocates a portion of my income to charities. So, I do not appreciate being approached in this setting with requests to donate. This is a brand new, nice store. The selection at this Petco in particular though is limited. Selection of clothes, dog foods, treats etc. I'm not sure if it's because it's a smaller store maybe? It just seems like they have less of everything overall. What I like about this store is, it's clean. I've been to a lot of other pet stores in town and none of them are ever this clean. It's a nice place to come walk your dog around, and it is never too crowded. If you sign up for a Pals Rewards card you can get $5 off coupons issued to you every so often and they stack up which is nice if you shop there regularly. read more

The store employees are great. The grooming department not so much.I made an appointment for my Australian Shepard to get groomed, keep in mind she had been groomed about a month earlier at the same place. I get there ten minutes before my appointment and had to wait ten minutes for anyone to even acknowledge I was there. Of course they can't find me in their system even though I've been there already. Told me they couldn't groom her because they didn't have her vaccine record. The lady that groomed my dog remembered her and I distinctly remember them having issues with getting my telephone number correct. After the guy in the grooming department called me a liar multiple times.. and says if she would have been groomed I'd be in the system. He then tells me I have 15 minutes to get the documents or her appointment would have been cancelled. Super annoyed!!! read more

Failed to perform a bath and groom on 11 year old GSD. Asked for removal of winter coat which they claimed was difficult because dog could not stand for several house. Dog had been placed in crate and left there for 4 hours before any bath or groom. Almost 7 hours later we were told not to bring dog again. Refusal of future groom. read more

But since a new petco opened on cortaro closer to home I decided to try it out. Glad I did their groomers Liz and Amanda are wonderful. This Petco is the closest to my house and I started a tank off of using their fish and supplies. Had a few incidents and we would return and ask questions which the employees always help out with. However, things started going down hill. First incident is when I went to get shrimp (which is when I purchased my SICK shrimp that would later die) I wanted a blue shrimp and they wanted $7.99 for a shrimp because it's "a specialty shrimp". Went home without the "specialty shrimp" and went online. Online they are $4.39 but the shipping is $30. I called the help number online and asked if they would honor the price online in the store and they said of course. However when I told the manager about how they said they would honor the price they refused so I again walked away empty handed. Now for the straw that broke the camels back. Went this afternoon after their new shipment of shrimp because mine died yesterday. I informed the employee assisting me and asked for the 30 day return policy Petco is sooo proud off. They refused to give me my return because I did not have a water sample. My shrimp died 30 mins after he went into my tank,the others are thriving. I went online and no where it says they need a water sample nor on the back of the receipt the only place it says is on the back of the yellow card they write chicken scratch on to tell the cashier what I'm buying. They refused to give me other aquatic life because they assumed I had bad water. I check my water every three days and the water levels are perfect. Will not be returning to this place at this point I would much rather go to petsmart or even Walmart for aquatic needs. read more
