As a first time fish owner I was asking for advice of what to put in a 3 gallon tank. I was told beta but that is not what I wanted. The lady helping me then proceeded to dismiss me and pretty much refuse to sell me any other fish even though I asked what other fish can go in a 3 gallon tank and refused to tell me. I had great experiences from this store three years ago within the aquarium hobby. My best experience was buying a butterfly betta that lived a good life and has only recently died from natural causes (age). At the time I also bought fish for my 10 gallon, 4 cherry barbs and 3 mollies. Out of those only 3 cherry barbs survived, up till now. Within this week I decided to make my tank more lively again only having 3 cherry barbs in it. I purchased 3 baby cherry barbs and 3 neon tetras. They appear to be healthy. Next day seemed fine, all survived. Day two however, one cherry died and also a neon. I then noticed one of the two remaining baby cherries had a bad ich infection. So I returned them to get a the same fish. Only the lady who replaced them mistakenly gave me a red tail rasbora than a cherry barb which is an obvious mistake however rasbora's need to be in schools. Anyway, I got them acclimated and all was well, till the next day... I woke up to see only but one out of the three neons still alive and only the red tail rasbora. Two neons dead, two baby cherry barbs dead. Worst part? One of my two year old cherry barbs that were in the tank originally has died. Should I mention that the water parameters checked out perfect. pH, ammonia and nitrite all well plus the tank always seems weekly and monthly cleaning. Im extremely hurt over this as I lost one of my long time fish thanks to the obvious neglect that petco gives to their aquarium life. I say to avoid this store altogether and look into a better place that can give you healthy fish...and not kill your long time fish either. read more

have been taking my dog here for years never any problems with her going in but today was different. Walked in to the grooming salon and waited in there for about 15 minute so I went to go tell a worker, no one came. I waited 30 to get my dog checked in then finally a floor worker noticed we have been waiting in there for a while and came in and check us in rudely and dragged my dog to the back by her leach. My dog has never had any problem coming in the back, she loves it there. I'm so disappointed right now in Petco and mostly worried about our dog. Might be looking for another place to get her groomed if they keep this up. read more

I have used the grooming services at Petco several times now, and I have to say they are very good at what they do. Very professional, yet very personable. Can't speak for all, but I am very happy with the results and the time and care they take with my dog at the Petco In Washington, Missouri. Will definitely use their services again. Terrible service. I have been told four different things about what Fish I can put my fish with and none of them agree. While I was trying to get help one of the employees "noelle" picked a bug up off the ground, stopped helping me, walked over to the skink to feed it and dropped it on the ground then cursed. When I was getting my water tested she then told me that there was too much waste in the water and I have never even put fish in there. I will NEVER go back because they don't deserve my money. This pet store was amazing at first and now, its like ehh. Let me explain, im not comparing stores but petsmart has more of a variety. In Petco it seemed that there wasnt much employment, in their store unless they where all on break. Their Tetras where wayyyy over priced compared too Petsmart. The lights where off in the fishtank which I personally thought was weird, but I didnt think much of it. They could care about their fish but maybe not enough? Maybe its just me. Sorry for comparing but its true. The employee was very nice not gonna lie, but it just felt empty in there or a weird feeling about it. This is a great petstore but it could be better. The employees here are first class. They treated me like I was the only customer in the store. I was there getting supplies for our new puppy. They gave me some great info on grain free foods and helped me get our new boy started off right. We are coming back for dog training. I really like this store. Glad they came to Washington/Union area. It's rare these days to find good service let alone great service in retail. read more

We had always bought supplies for our fish tanks here. But, after today I will NEVER set foot in a petco again!! I went to find 1 item that the website said they had and could not find it. I could barely get to the fish aisles because on the "vetco clinic." It took 15 min to find someone to help we and she said they don't have it and she couldn't order it. So, to make it a not wasted trip we went to look at the fish and they had several fish under "observation" and several other tanks with dead fish in them. When I asked what was going on with there fish I was told "I don't know we don't have time to take care of the fish. So, I called customer service and they sent a message to the manager to contact me. When Deanna (the manager) contacted me she told me that I should not have come this week because they had cheap vaccinations today and no time to take care of the fish. Very dissappointed!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE IF YOU HAVE ANY PETS OTHER THAN DOGS OR CATS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEM!!! read more

The staff was really knowledgeable and friendly. They helped us find the perfect dog food brand to feed both our 40 pound and 100 pound dog, that they both love! The dog treat bar is a great deal; you can get a bunch of different kinds of treats for pretty cheap, and figure out which your dog likes best. Plus they are "human safe", and although I wouldn't eat them, it does make me feel more confident feeding them to my pets. They love the bacon ducks. Plus, when we found a great deal on a water fountain on their online website, they price matched in the store, saving us nearly 60 dollars (we paid 20 for an 80 dollar water fountain). read more
