With the demise of Como Pete's on Augusta, nearer to my work, we had to reach out a few more miles to go to Petee's and get some "local, fast, & fresh" food. This is a breakfast, lunch and dinner kind of place, open 8AM to 9PM, closed on Sunday's. It has been here since 1980, but this is the first time visit for me. I was expecting something like Como's, a hamburger joint with an expanded menu, but at the heart of things, a hamburger joint. You know, the kind of place where half fries & half rings is common. Or as my friend who accompanied me said, "do y'all do a steak finger sandwich?" The reply, "with mayonnaise, lettuce & tomato, you mean?...we can do that." It's not on the menu, but they can do that. That kind of place. Not a meat & three, and not just a hamburger joint (they have seafood dinners, salads, steak, fried chicken, etc. Order at the counter, lot's of hustle and bustle. Busy lunch crowd. Healthy sized portions, really super sweet tea and welcoming to the hard working men & women. I had the double cheeseburger and fries, which was real comfort food. You can't eat it every day, but this hit the spot. And my buddy enjoyed his steak finger sandwich. Neither of us could finish (or at least didn't take the challenge to try) the fries or onion rings due to the healthy portion (an oxymoron?). We will be back. Love that it is local. After looking over the menu, I decided on the seafood platter ( includes 1 piece of flounder, 5 shrimp, 3 hush puppies, and a generous serving of fries and a salad). For a drink I got the sweet tea. I finally went to the counter and said I need a full refund since we aren't gonna get food. The big guy (slob) snatched my ticket goes to cooks who proceeds to tell him they missed our order .... So he comes back and tells me that Angus beef takes longer to cook than regular beef.... WHAT???? A YOU SERIOUS??? GIVES ME MY TICKET LIKE ITS MY FAULT AND WALKS AWAY. So suddenly the food is ready. I think some relatives also...Still sitting on the slammed u.s. 25 route from Greenville South Carolina all the way up to Asheville North Carolina now thanks to GPS is slammed with traffic. all the time.. been coming here for years and years. because the old Bi-Lo distribution Center used to be down the road and there was truck parking here..neighborhoods changed a little bit signs of the times but it's still a decent place to come in and get yourself some groceries throw down your gullet. They do open for breakfast at 8 in the morning and they're fairly busy with a lot of sandwiches but the main bread-and-butter here are the burgers and the fish especially on Fridays to lunch time crowd it slammed here they've got orders up the yin-yang coming every witch Way from online ordering and doordash and more.. I have many standard locals that love to come and be coming for years apparantly their ice cream is pretty good too I've never had it I usually get sandwiches.. so on this particular Friday I loaded a half mile down the road traffic is going to be slim so I decided let's go over to Petees and have a bite to eat..it's probably been about a year-and-a-half since I last dying here most of the time I'm just hammerdown out of Greenville getting where I got to go. but today I decided I'm starting to get a little bit of a cold which I'm not happy about sneezing and snuffling but I decided relax till traffic dies down have a nice meal.. so sad to get the rib-eye steak sandwich done medium just a nice and promptly long with a not french fries went will tater tots today and diet Pepsi.. food was prepared very well steak was delicious and lettuce and tomato a little side at a Heinz 57 sauce the slather on tater tots for really good not to burnt or overcooked.. quality of the ribeye was really good not very fatty what I like is a put on a grilled hamburger buns open so you could add everything you need and then falling over like a burger and enjoy... still got room to park trucks out back sometime it gets really busy then after they're closed so you won't find nowhere but that's normal anymore people parked there sleeping.. but all in all the salad for stars still really good enjoy the steak sandwich very much come back here and eat again come in the area and hungry.. little bit more costly than a drive-in type of diner atmosphere but the quality of food is really good. so if you're looking for a good old fashion Burger kind of joint or sandwich and more: stop into Old Petees just a mile off of Interstate 85 if you're coming up the White horse Road u.s. 25 read more

Located at the corner of Grove Rd / Piedmont Hwy and White Horse you won't be disappointed. It's fresh and fast but not for the faint of heart. If counting calories is important try a salad. First, this is not a place to take a date. It is a working persons place to eat. The décor reflects 'truck stop'. The food is however, much better than you would expect. I have been here twice and wish it were closer to my usual routes. This time I ordered a patty melt plate. The presentation was similar to my prior visit. The plate was covered with fries topped with an onion ring, the rest of the items were barely visible. There was the sandwich, a full size pickle spear and a small (about 2 oz.) container of cole slaw all covered with fries and an onion ring. The total quantity of food was beyond what a normal person would eat, but I tried. The sandwich was a - very good - patty melt. The pickle spear was good, better than average. I have to vent and warn others about a local business that I and my family have frequented for over 15 years PETEE'S DRIVE IN 1785 White Horse Rd. Greenville. They have started closing at 9:00, I found out the hard way a month or so ago even though their Facebook still says they close at 11:00, but that's ok that's their rule but here's my complaint, I drove home from the beach today it was late but I knew I could make it there by 9:00. After basically pushing my wife out of the car and driving faster than I should I got to their drive thru at 8:52 a couple of cars were in front of me with orders already placed and a few customers inside when I arrived an employee simply said "we are closed" I asked what time they closed and she stated "9:00" I said its 8:52 and she again stated we are closed I then asked why? She said the registers were turned off, I said but I rushed to get here can't you take my order? Then a male came on the speaker and said "Don't argue, just leave" then turned off the speaker. I called and got him on the phone he was extremely rude and when I asked to speak with the manager or owner he said he was the owner, when I asked his name he refused to give it to me. I'll admit I was mad by now and not so nice myself but the last thing I remember him saying was F... u and then hanging up, I called back and he refused to talk to me but the employee on the phone confirmed that he was one of the owners, if that's the case I guess it explains a few things. But let me be clear, simply a nicely put explanation was all that was needed along with an apology, I'm a regular customer spending $20 to $60 there a week. It's my understanding that this business is owned by the Demas family, if that's true I'd like to know if I was truly speaking to one of the owners and if this is the way they feel about their customers. Up until a year or so ago I had few complaints, it was convenient and the food was usually good, then things began to change, prices went up which I realize is common right now but their increase's were excessive especially the extras. I understand they have to charge when you ask for extras but it's crazy there, I finally drew the line one day when they wanted to charge $1 for a small dipping cup of A1 to go with my steak fingers, a few weeks ago I ordered a BLT and a cup of water, it was nearly $11 no fries, no slaw, no tea...just a BLT and a cup of water. If i could leave 0 stars i would. I've been here before and let stuff ride but not today. I ordered a cheese burger plate and a chicken wing plate. I should have checked before i left but i didn't. I get to my destination and open my box and noticed under the fries they gave me tenders, which Is not what i ordered at all. Also during this time you can here the ladies upfront and cussing. This wasn't the best look for this restaurant. I have ate here for years. Meh. We ended up here after a terrible experience at another local drive-in-esque restaurant. We ordered a burger, two corn dogs, and two drinks in the drive thru. The corn dogs were good, and the burger was okay... seemed like a frozen patty and had more lettuce on it than would ever be necessary for anyone to eat in their entire lives. We asked twice for ketchup but weren't provided any. I'll go back if I'm in the area, but it won't be a drive-out-of-the-way type of place for me. read more
