Written by a Northern-bred girl with southern familial roots... What it is not: Not fancy, not going to help you stick to any type of diet What it is: Reminiscent of home cooked meals of my childhood served up by ladies who remind me of my grandmother, my aunties, and beloved church mothers. Service is delivered with warm smiles that linger almost as long as the southern drawls. You can get a breakfast that fills your belly (and probably your hips, too) for under $10.

Sweet baby Jesus, I haven't had green beans this good since I was sitting in my Nanny's kitchen. The okra was firm and breaded perfectly, did I mention the green beans? Mac 'n cheese that was deliciously cheesy, the red potatoes were buttery and almost melt in your mouth, and I cannot say enough about the green beans. The baked spaghetti looked really good so that will be for the next trip.

Fried chicken, potato salad, squash casserole, macaroni and roll. ALL amazing

Really great home cooking. Can personally recommend macaroni, potato salad, squash casserole, fried chicken, pork chops and fried fish. Different specials on different days but everything is good so can't miss.

Fried chicken, fried okra, Mac n cheese, cornbread. So good!!

Good ole country cooking. Very friendly service! It's cafeteria style with meat and three. Includes dessert and drink.

Food is just fair. Never hot. A slow line even when not crowded. No one is in a hurry. It has a relaxed atmosphere.

Good food. Good customer service. When you call your order in you have to pay over the phone. But that's not an issue for me.

I liked the food lots. Good choices of meat and vegetables and I will return. Hours are a bit different so getting supper there isn't easy.

We couldn't be more impressed with this establishment. Everyone was extremely friendly, and the owner came by and introduced himself to all the tables and checked in with us. We started off with a crabcake and bang bang shrimp to share and the crabcake was absolutely delicious. Then we had our salads which were a huge portion for a side salad and were also fantastic. . For meals, we did the fried stuffed chicken and it was so amazing along with the mac & cheese brussels sprouts. The marinated beef tips were also delicious. It's such a cute and cozy restaurant inside and out on the patio. A place where you can come for dinner or you can also sit at the bar! we wish we were local so that we could go back again, but it just means we have to book another trip to Greenville!

Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and a perfect introduction to Southern comfort with a twist. For dinner, my coworker ordered the seafood trio with double blackened scallops and fried catfish, paired with asparagus and risotto. Everything was cooked beautifully and full of bold flavor. I had the mango salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and it was outstanding -- tender, bright, and perfectly balanced. A huge shoutout to our waitress, Skye, who was incredibly patient as we explored the menu. She walked us through each appetizer and entrée, offered thoughtful recommendations, and helped my Wisconsin coworker dive into Southern cuisine with confidence. Her warmth and knowledge made the whole experience even better. Sassafras delivered on food, service, and Southern hospitality.

The ambiance is charming, the menu is extensive and the service is top tier. We tried several appetizers, the pimento cheese being the best I've tried in years, while the fried green tomato's offered a very upscale twist on a comfort food dish. The RW menu was an incredible deal--three courses of appetizers, entrées, and desserts that absolutely wowed the entire table! I wish I'd taken more photos, but we were all too eager to dive in. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance: elegant and upscale, yet completely welcoming whether you're dressed casual or glammed up. If you appreciate fine wine, they boast around 16,000 bottles in their collection--so if you're a sommelier looking for a rare favorite, chances are they have it! Everything we tried was exceptional! Fresh salads featuring local greens, fruits, and cheeses, plus a rich She-Crab soup layered with sherry that struck the ultimate balance between complex flavor and rustic comfort. A bone-in pork chop served with sauerkraut and cabbage that couldn't have been better executed. Our server was an absolute pro--with impressive menu knowledge--and recommended the Wagyu steak and Lion's Mane mushrooms. The steak portion was so generous that we got to enjoy incredible steak-and-eggs for breakfast at home the next morning! A peach pudding created by their talented Brazilian pastry chef. Imagine peach cobbler, but turned up to a dreamlike level--packed with pure nostalgic comfort, light as a cloud, and ridiculously delicious. Soby's provided the absolute best grand finale for our weekend together. Thank you for such a wonderful memory!
