I had to find a PT somewhere on the West Side of Los Angeles. My insurance recommended Kulagy, and I am very fortunate that they did. I had the pleasure of working with Amy Smith from their team. Absolutely the best, most knowledgable medical professional I have ever worked with. She came to my home, my office and made sure my health and wellness came first. She worked with me for a little over two-months rebuilding my strength after badly breaking my leg in an accident. A HORRIBLE SCAM COMPANY!!! April 22, 2025 They are suing me for $$2,275.00 plus interest. BUT I PAID THEM. Veronica Lopez signed a Small Claims Court document stating I owed them the above amount. But PeteHealth charged my American Express Card in November of last year and they were paid. I have sent Veronica verification of that. Our court date is Monday , April 28, 2025. Not only do I have proof it was paid but I also have a letter from Noridian which is the payment contractor for Medicare that states I owe them $0.00 and I should never have been charged and that they should refund the $2,275.00 amount to me. I have repeatedly left messages to have the owner Jerry Parks call me but I don't think the receptionist Evangeline or Veronica have relayed those messages to him. Don't get involved with PeteHealth/Kulagy or Theodore Steben PT, it's not worth the aggravation. As a side note the Physical Therapists are excellent but the office staff should be replaced. I have sent these documents to Veronica but she won't take my calls. So we will go to court and after I win I will file a lawsuit in the main court (not small claims court) for as many claims that an attorney can come up with. read more

This firm is unfortunately administratively incompetent. I cannot speak to their PT services as I never received the services. After being harangued several times by phone about credit cards, insurance, and referring doctor (even though I was matched with a Pete's Health DPT), I was scheduled for an appointment. About 10 minutes prior to the appointment, the PT (DPT) emailed stating she needed to attend to an urgent medical issue. The notice was appreciated and the PT (DPT) re-scheduled for another date. The PT (DPT) did not communicate a delay and after waiting 60 minutes past the scheduled 2nd appointment time, I canceled. I cannot recommend anyone use this firm as they do not perform. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. It took this company two weeks to contact me to schedule my first "evaluation" where a therapist called me on Zoom from outside a Starbucks and asked questions about my range of motion from the camera. They then charged me $180 or something. Then it took them another week to match me with a physical therapist to actual treat me. They charge $15 "service fees" when no service is actually provided. A complete waste of time and a disservice to my recovery. read more

Got text messages and email that I had to call to see if available. Responded to email with no response from them. Read other reviews, it's no wonder they can't keep therapist! I have a primary and secondary insurance, so I should not have any out of pocket expense. I was sent a bill on a Friday for $250, I called and questioned the amount. They said my secondary had not paid. I said I would call on Monday morning and get it straighten out. Well on Monday, they'll illegally ran my CC!! When I called them to discuss the matter they hung up on me every time. I discussed the matter with my secondary insurance, they then called and got hung up on several times. This is a shady company who changed their names more than once. There are other companies that do in home P/T without the hassle and illegal billing! Just expressing Gratitude to all of you who've issued warnings. You've put into words what my instincts felt - towards a Company that wants your credit card up front (!!) and charges monies that are not warranted, especially when you have insurance that guarantees 100% coverage once deductible is met. My husband will be going to physical therapy in person where they legitimately check your insurance (and in our case, no monies will be owed as deductible is met- and legitimate businesses check that in advance and do not require any additional payments), do not ask for credit cards as checking with insurance ahead of time is the routine procedure. I've noticed they've had business owners come and go ... and just respond to reviews defensively. No thank you! read more

My PT was friendly and on time, she did not have a medical understanding of frozen shoulder which is fine because she's not expected to and the exercises did alleviate my frozen shoulder - I would give her 4/5 stars. PeteHealth billing gets 1 star because despite multiple asks about remaining bills to settle I never heard back from them...and when I did it was $540 after more than a year from my last session. Pete Health is one shady business practice. At least that's their current name. Please beware of the MPF charges which I'm told is totally legal according to Evengelen in billing. It's a charge of $15 per visit and is supposed to be some sort of safety insurance plus $16 per visit. It's a sham and a scam! I've been billed 21 times since October 25, which is incorrect for the number of visit. My husband JR's therapist comes 2 times a week starting in November and she stays for 15 minutes each time. I guess her visits are $15 a minute plus $16 for her safety. How absurd! By December 29, our account was charged $675.30. I'm also told that insurance pays a portion of $90 per visit. I will be contacting them today. What a ripoff. No equipment is needed for his therapy. The communication with Pete Health is supposed to be with me as per requested when we set up his therapy, a referral from his doctor. I was totally unaware of the charges because they had been sending emails to the wrong email account. I have requested by email that they cancel my account immediately and also request confirmation because I don't trust them to not bill me again. Still waiting for the email. I'm told I should receive it by the end of the day. I feel l really don't even want to give them a 1 star rating. Taking advantage of senior citizens. read more

Do not use this office. They will rip you off with medical bills, months and sometimes years after the physical therapy session. They tell you that insurance covers everything but later bill you. I already got a $600 bill for my father a few months ago and now another $160 bill for my mother! I used their services after my shoulder surgery. I used 2 different therapist. the first one started her sessions with an hour and then cut them down to 1/2 hour each time. And while I was doing the exercises she was constantly on her computer. I noted that with the office and asked is there a way to hear a feed back from the client like a survey. They said yes but I never got anything from them. They just send over their therapist and don't really care what kind of service they provide. And then they charged me for a cancellation fee when the appointment was only a verbal and not on the calendar. So not happy. read more

This is a second review. Be careful. They have found a loophole in the insurance so that you have to pay their entire amount. They are not covered under insurance. The $120 first appt and $60 thereafter is an extra fee. Their website leads you to believe otherwise. They attempted to get $250/session, which is more than the cash price they quote in their website. I ended up paying $150/session. Call your insurance company and make sure youW therapist in your plan. Had I done that I would've paid about $17 a session. Because they come to your house with minimal equipment, just a massage table. On a scale of 1 - 5, this company get a 5 for their misleading business practices. Pete Health is the best way to get physical therapy. I had both of my hip joints replaced this year; left hip in January and right hip in March. My orthopedist referred me to Pete Health for in-home physical therapy, which is covered by my insurance. Pete Health was super responsive in visiting my home for a pre-op home visit to evaluate my home for obstacles and to give some post-op instructions. After surgery, and once cleared for therapy by my doctor, my Pete Health therapist came to my home and office for my therapy sessions. My therapist was very knowledgeable about my surgery and physical abilities, always on time, and always prepared. My therapist interviewed me about my rehabilitation goals and discussed how my therapy could help me accomplish those goals. In my case, it involves returning to backpacking and climbing Mt. Rainier less than 6 months after my surgery. Pete Health is also very organized in setting appointments and sending reminders. They emailed my exercise routine each week and then worked with me to ensure I understood the routine. Did I say that they took my PPO insurance? I had an all-around great experience. read more

Recently, I completed physical therapy for my long standing lower back problems with Amy Smith. Because of the pandemic, the therapy was conducted via FaceTime. Needless to say, Amy was great. Her explanation of the exercises was clear and easy to understand but if I needed assistance, she demonstrated the proper form. Further, she corrected my form when necessary and pushed me to work harder when she felt that I was able to do so. By the end of the therapy, I felt that it had accomplished the main goals of reducing the pain and its frequency. Amy is very experienced and has good people skills. In addition, as a former college athlete, she most assuredly has incurred some of the pains that she now helps others to minimize. Based upon the above, I would strongly recommend Amy to be your next physical therapist if you are ready, willing and able to put in the required work. read more

Beware! My wife went to PeteHealth for a treatment. She was asked for her credit card as a backup to her insurance. They charged the card 24 times for $10.00 each. When contacted they stated that we would have our card credited. Now months later we are still waiting for the balance to be credited. Numerous emails and phone calls have been ignored. I despise writing reviews, especially negative ones, but it's necessary for me to warn others who want physical therapists to come to their home. Watch out and be careful you're not being over charged. I have had home therapist from them for over three years. For one year they charged me for a copayment and my insurance pays 100 percent. After a year you'd think their accounting would not do this to me but i caught them doing it again. Do not trust them. How sad they couldn't apologize to me afterwards. To top this situation, they charged me $50 for a no show, and I was home. Don't know what happened to to the intercom of my bldg but since I didn't receive a call from PT person I thought he didn't show up. But Petehealth still charge and did not care that I was hone and problem happened at my home. They have no compassion. They can overcharge me for a year and I report them to my insurance company. But today I called Anthem so hopefully they'll start looking at Petehealth practices. Even their PT people have complained about working for them. After having trouble finding a decent physical therapist in the Playa Vista region after receiving a shoulder labrum repair surgery, I decided to try out Kulagy, a PT service that sends a PT straight to your door at a specified time. It might have been the best decision I made in my shoulder rehab. No need to drive in traffic to your PT appointment every week. I cannot give them any stars. I was forced to give one. I was a patient of Pete Health about a year ago and then....things changed. It used to be easy to book an appointment and have insurance processed and choose a therapist. Now terrible. Simply terrible. It took a week to get things to a point when I could actually BOOK a therapist. They called to set up ANOTHER call to onboard me. One cannot look at therapists online for their expertise. One is simply SENT a therapist, without any consultation. Finally, it was THREE weeks before I could even have a therapist booked. I gave up. They called back and suddenly had a therapist who could come the following week. Really?! Terrible patient care. No wonder their therapists are leaving them. The one I had left. After major surgery, I'd rather take a cab someplace than have some rando sent to my house with out my vetting. Run AWAY. read more

The treatment sessions with Ted are really great! Strengthening core and abs to take pressure off of my back. I've been struggling with nerve pain and after 5 sessions.......it's so much better already. I love that he emails you a video of the stretches and exercises to do in between sessions and on my own by November. I can't say enough good things. I recommend very highly to all experiencing back and sciatica After 3 months twice a week, I discovered that I have hip tightness and pain. What an amazing discovery for Physical Therapy! I had rotator cuff surgery, and was struggling to find appointments at other places, or any continuity for my post care. Kulagy comes to your home, and it's the best PT I've had! I finally feel like I'm making progress. After having a serious knee problem, I was referred by my doctor to PeteHealth to strengthen my knee and surrounding muscles. After the original sessions had been completed, I continued to work with the therapist who is professional, knowledgeable, and reliable. I look forward to our one-hour sessions each week. I had one session with a physical therapist who was extremely disengaged. For example, she had me time mine own exercises while she texted people on her phone. Needless to say, I was disappointed in my experience and did not use them again. Certainly other PTs may be better, but I cannot speak to them. The main issue with this company has been their incredibly poor business practices and failure to provide any reasonable level of customer service. I have spent the past 9 months on numerous phone calls with their office and my insurance provider. After all this time and my numerous requests, they have still failed to properly submit the claim to my insurance, routinely do not call back as promised, and ignore emails. I have worked with multiple different medical providers--including other PT offices--and none of them have ever had any issues like this. BEWARE, SCAM!!! My husband received a message that they verified benefits with our insurance and there would be $0 cost for physical therapy. My son also received a "verification of benefits" stating $85 for 2 visits, then $25 thereafter. Now, a year later we're being billed for almost $800! Having a great experience with PeteHealth after two total knee replacements. My first contact was a little over 6 months ago subsequent to my first knee replacement after a different company's therapist left and they didn't have another therapist to treat me. PeteHealth was super responsive and found a great therapist to work on my knee in my home without missing even one week of physical therapy. I liked him so much I requested him the second time and have continued to be impressed with his professionalism, responsiveness, and remarkable skill in helping me feel and walk better. They take care of all the insurance, email exercises to add each week, and confirm appointments via text. I am very grateful and recommend him highly, as he has truly made a significant difference in my recovery. read more

I actually never got past the intake process with PeteHealth. This company has an in-network contract with my health insurance program, Blue Cross, which should mean that costs are controlled, and limited to a contracted rate. However, PeteHealth exploits a loophole in in-network insurance contracting, that basically indicates that if the patient agrees, the healthcare provider can charge the patient additional money, beyond the copay or coinsurance that is supposed to be the patient responsibility in-network care. The notion is that this is allowable since it is "voluntary", but PeteHealth refuses to schedule patients who do not agree to the additional fees. While this would still be in the realm of legal contracting, however shady, PeteHealth shares deceptive information with patients. I received an email titled "Verification of Benefits", which is prefaced with a statement "Below is an explanation of your insurance benefits". The rest of the text incorporates the additional fees, but does not make clear to patients that the additional charges indicated are in addition to insurance copays and coinsurance, and not part of the in-network provider agreement. Most people would read it and assume that these are just the normal fees left after insurance payment. Patients are asked to reply and agree to the charges in totality, as a precondition to schedule. It would be very easy for patients to reply, not realizing they're agreeing to pay an additional charge beyond the contracted rate, and believing that they're getting the full benefit of in-network insurance coverage. In addition to posting a negative review, I filed a complaint with my insurance company to ask that this company's "in network" status be reconsidered, and am also contacting my referring physician to suggest that this company not receive further referrals from Cedars Sinai. This kind of practice is among the reasons why U.S. healthcare costs are so inflated! read more

I have had chronic hip and lower back pain on my right side for years now. I finally decided to try physical therapy to see if I can alleviate the pain because it is holding me back from staying healthy and active. Even my sleep has been affected! Being able to book an appointment at a time and place of my choosing is almost the best part of the service. I can't imagine going back to a clinic, ever. The BEST part of this experience was the Physical Therapist himself. Extremely knowledgeable, kind, and patient. I also think it is important to note that my mother in law has Alzheimer's and is very territorial when strangers come over, he handled himself very well. He kept his hands in his pockets and did not say anything to her when she was getting frustrated. It's very challenging to know what to do in these situations and I was relieved by his demeanor and ability to read the situation. Throughout the appointment my PT said he would like me to do some homework and that he would send me a follow up email with instructions and videos to stay up to date with my exercises. He sent the email immediately following our session, follow up is so critical and I am grateful for the service. I'm the road to recovery already! Thank you. read more

I am a physician that tore my left meniscus earlier this year. My PM & R doctor recommended PT over Surgery. He gave me Kulagy as a recommendation bc he knew I had a busy work schedule and that Kulagy would travel to my home. I was paired w Dr. Amy who was so professional, friendly, and effective. I felt very comfortable with her and she addressed all my concerns. By the end of our sessions I had strengthened my knee and no longer had pain. My entire experience was great from beginning to end! My doctor referred me to Pete after another place I called never got back to me. They were very responsive and organized. Amy, my therapist, was great too. We started out meeting at my home. When the Covid numbers got really bad again, I opted to do virtual appointments. Both ways worked out great.
