A great little, cozy hideaway tucked into the busy side streets around Grand Central Station. Contemporary looking on the outside, but traditional on the inside. It's a watering hole in the purest sense. Splendid beers, ales (love the McSorley's Ale), and spirits. No kitchen, though you're quite welcome to bring in or order delivery from a number of referrals from the the barkeep. Noise level is less than other pubs even at full capacity. A little rock music in the background, the clack of billiards and the bustle of friendly conversation make this a great spot for a cold one with food friends. read more

Came here for drinks on a Saturday afternoon. Ambience: Your usual irish pub; simple with no frills. It was filled with mostly middled-aged males. Drinks: Cheap; they also had some happy hour specials including$4 Jameson shots. Not sure how it is at night, but this is probably a spot you go to for pregame. read more

Reluctant to write a review on this one, cause I live around the corner and don't necessarily want the secret out- but this is a great spot to watch football on a Sunday. They have a ton of nice flat screen TV's scattered through out the place and its NEVER too crowded. Bartenders are friendly and so are the customers- and they have every game on so what's not to like. Good Guinness pour too. The only thing I can say is they advertise free food, which isn't really right. They don't have free food. But you can order in and there are a ton of places really close by (Best Wingers, Famous Chicken Place) that'll get you the food you need as quick as if they had a kitchen. Now as far as going to this place at other times- I'm not really sure. The guy:girl ratio always seems pretty high from peering into the window. read more

This place has magical powers. I've always ended up here with a bunch of my friends and the crew of either La Biblioteca/ Zengo and the morning afterwards, I'll wake up in another borough on a rooftop or in a Brooklyn loft. I tend to come in here late at night, where only the locals and regulars come through. Pool table, Karaoke and $4 Jamesons All Day. Yes to Buybacks. Aside from the cheesiness that they've retained for the tourists passing through from time to time (right near Grand Central), this it's a perfect spot to unwind and hang out. Peter Dillion's is a nice authentic, as far I know anyway, Irish pub. Not to say that I am the authority of determining what an authentic Irish Pub is, but everyone there had deep Irish accents. Seriously though, more importantly, the staff was extremely accommodating, helpful, friendly and pleasant. I enjoyed chatting with them and the environment seemed family-like. There is a pool table in a corner and many televisions to watch sporting events. Regarding food, they don't have a kitchen. However they let you bring in your own food. If you prefer not to, no problem! You can instead check out some menus available with things that can quickly be delivered via Seemless. Pretty good deal if you ask me! You can decide to eat what you want along with your fun Irish experience to go along with one of my all-time favorites, spirits! I sprang for Cuban from Sohpie's right down street. Go here on Saturday afternoons. The British bartender lady is so cool and pours great drinks. It is such a neighborhoody type place, the patrons all seem pretty cool also. Many TVs playing all the different sports you can ask to watch. Oh, and it is very clean and comfortable too! read more

I usually feel weird writing a review for a place if I've just had a beer there. I mean, it's beer. How different can it be from bar to bar? I don't usually have fancy cocktails, and if you're a bartender who can't pour a beer you really need to investigate a different profession. Well, that's true in this case as well. It's a bar. They have beer. The bartenders pour it. The beer selection is standard New York pub. It's not going to be a fancy bar that you head to with your well-dressed friends to have a classy night of cocktails. This is where you head after work if you want them to pour you a beer, give you a smile, and go about their business. There is a pool table in the back, but I'm pretty sure those guys will shark you out of all of your money. All of it. It's nice that it's so close to Grand Central, I could definitely see stopping in here if I had to wait for a train rather than pay the tourist tax to grab a drink in the station. We were there too late on a Friday night to take advantage of the happy hour, but I've heard that it's good and the drink prices are reasonable even if it's not happy hour. read more

For what it is, it's four stars. I've only ever been there between 5:30 - 8pm. They play generally above-average music for a midtown bar, and it's usually at most 50% "business casual" jerks fresh from the office (full disclosure: I'm one of them). Happy hour is until 8, I believe, and you get $4 Stella / Blue Moon and I think Bud Light now too, in case you're insane and prefer that over the other two. $4 Jameson (and now Jagermeister!) shots. It's not a dive, but it's not McFaddens and the like either - making it one of my favorite spots for happy hour. That and it's just down the block from my office, on the way to the subway. read more

I love this bar. There are not many fun bars around Grand Central, so this is a real oasis. The fact that they have a pool table as well, certainly helps seal the deal as well. A pretty standard after-work type place, except the bar tender at this pub is ACTUALLY irish, and even says lassie! Always willing to put the TV on whatever channel you want. Nice pool table, and friendly atmosphere. The kind of place where if you stay long enough, they start giving you drinks on the house. Who doesn't love that. Just an all around mellow place. There needs to be more bars like this in Manhattan. It reminds me of New Orleans. The night there turned into a blur which is what we were going for. They had a special on tequila shots this particular night and that's a sure way to win my heart. The drinks were inexpensive (HALLELUJAH), after a few nights of bar tabs that make me cringe, it was so nice to find a place close to our hotel that was casual and like a bar should be. The bar was pretty busy by the time we showed up and we were able to find seating not at the bar. There were sports on which appeased my boyfriend and there were people in a room with pool who all were enjoying themselves. The crowd was super mixed, young, old, black, white, which is so refreshing in a city where you can go into a bar and everyone is in suits. What kinda party is that? In the end, WE HAD SO MUCH FUN and I can't get over how happy I was to find this place for their cheap beers and tequila shots. Thank you Peter Dillion's. read more

Tallboys of PBR, pints of Stella, Blue Moon or Bud and shots of Jameson all run you $4 - not bad at all for midtown. It is what it is. It's a true bar. No food; comfy seating, office-types in the crowd, friendly service. It's not glamorous, probably as close to a dive as you can find near Grand Central. The only great place to play 'bar pool' in east Midtown. They have a pool table up-front and proud in the front room. ($2 but this is NYC, and it takes bills.) What makes it great is the quality of the players. Warning: league players tie up the pool table on most Tuesday nights. Usually have a live band on Wednesday evenings. Fun crowd. Cheap beer, with lots better beers on draft, plus shot specials. Greg is the charming bartender that appears to run the place single-handed, and then come from behind the bar to win the last game or two on the pool table. read more

I didn't read the reviews before I went here... I just saw that it had 4 stars on 128 reviews. We were in the area and wanted to play some pool before we went to our next destination. So we checked it out but didn't know what to expect. We showed up early, around 2:00 PM on Saturday. With the exception of a full bar, the place was empty and the pool table was open. At first I was a bit turned off by the smell of body odor, but we stayed and grabbed some drinks (which are well priced). I admit that my first impression wasn't pleasant, but as time went on I found myself not wanting to leave. The atmosphere was great and the people that came in and out were extremely nice. Plus, the bartender was very nice and attentive. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was setting up Christmas decorations at the time. He couldn't have been any more welcoming. We ended up staying longer than expected and even went back later that night before we went home. All in all, this is a great place to grab a few drinks and hang out. I would recommend this bar if you are in the area. I wish I had an Irish Pub like this around me. read more

Honestly, I went here because of the great Yelp reviews but wasn't sure what may be coming. I had heard of it before and knew the vibe but never had the chance to go. Last Saturday my friend and I weren't sure where to go in the area so we stopped by and it was great! We had no idea there was karaoke and a pool table in addition do well priced drinks. The bartender went up to do karaoke and he was great! The crowd is friendly, but heads up to girls - mostly guys. Definitely more of a place to go with a group of friends than a place to go out to drinks with someone. I actually went with a friend just for a drink and we played a card game at one of the tables which was pretty cool. If you're looking for a solid bar in the area that isn't touristy and/or overpriced, Peter Dillon's is the way to go. read more
