Last night, my wife and I tried The Perfect Pint, which was next door to the place we were staying. We had just come from a very long and tiring day of sightseeing the Statue of Liberty, and we tired, hot (it was nearly 90° with humidity), and hungry. This is an Irish pub, and our server (maybe the owner?) was Padaric, who definitely was Irish with his accent. The first thing we did was order cold drinks. My wife opted for a Cosmic Spritz, while I had a glass of Stella Artois beer. They were both nice and cold. For our dinner, Padaric suggested the Irish Beef Stew, and boy was he right! Tender chunks of beef, mixed in with mashed potatoes, carrots, and a nice gravy. Yum! The decor is nice, with lots of TVs tuned to sports. All-in-all, a very nice ending to a long and hot day. read more

This place is RACIST Me and my family walk in 10pm on a Wednesday when the place is almost entirely empty and order 4 beers and tried to leave within 30-40 minutes. Our waiter (picture attached) came to us once to take our order and to give us the bill (after we asked for it 3 times). We tipped $5 because he just handed us a beer and walked away. He later comes to us and starts angrily yelling at us about how the suggested tip is what we should follow and that what we tipped is "unacceptable." Then goes on a speech about how tipping works and asks us "where are you from? " in the most condescending and racist way. We're all from New York City, so not sure what he was trying to accomplish. He then walks away angry going "it would be best if you stayed home" and starts talking about us loudly to other waiters and other people at the bar. It was so unbelievable. We are 4 brown people, I doubt he would have talked to us that way in another scenario. Absolutely disgusting and racist behavior, I've never been talked to this way my entire life living in NYC. read more

I truly wanted to like this pub. The atmosphere is very nice. I ordered the Harp fish and chips and my wife ordered the rib and chicken combo. The chicken was tender and juicy. However, the ribs were overcooked. I had the same experience with the fish and chips. the fish was left in the fryer far too long. I could pick it up with my fingers and eat it like a chicken tender. It was rubbery and any flavor that might have benefited from the harp beer was lost. I've had a lot of fish and chips in a lot of Irish pubs. This was not up to par. The cole slaw tasted good. The fries were okay. Our waiter was friendly. He was prompt and attentive before he left for the evening. However, he handed off our table to the bartender who was obviously overextended. The dinner crowd was coming in at a fairly rapid pace and he simply couldn't keep up. I did have a Guinness that was a perfect pour. Kudos to him for that. read more

Is there such thing as the "perfect pint"? I highly doubt it, but I applaud this establishment for naming themselves this. Came here to meet with one of my old boss for a quick catch up. It's rather depressing inside as it's a bit dark and gloomy, but what do you expect from an Irish bar I guess. Service is pretty standard. We didn't venture to the top floor, where they got a terrace, which I suspect is a lot more cheery and brighter. I only got one beer so can't comment on the food. read more

I came here to watch the Michigan vs OSU game. This isn't the exact vibe of a sports bar (clearly) but my friends and I wanted a chiller bar to talk while we watched the game. When I got there before kickoff, there was only 1 other person. They were playing a soccer game on the TVs. I asked if they could play the Michigan game and the nice bartender did! We came here, mainly because it was listed as a sports bar and we wanted to watch a football game. Lots of TV's and they were willing to work with us to find seating where the game would be shown. Pretty large tap list and ice cold. Food was average bar food which is the only reason it is 4 stars, not 5. Enjoy. read more

Stopped here for after work happy hour. Heard there's *good beer* here from some UK colleagues so-- gotta be good beer! But, dirty tricks with the bill at the end, cost a star. It's 3 floors and each has its own vibe, the top even has an outdoor section. The first, has _all_ the taps. Ended up with a stella, can't lose there! We got food too: hot wings and sweet potato fries. Bleu cheese & chipotle mayo was RIGHT on! Albeit they needed to be asked for ketchup. Wings were not super spicy, but still flavorful! Fries were standard. Healthy amount for 3 people! Now: why they got docked a star: the check at the end was split 3 ways, but, the "suggested gratuity" was based on the FULL AMOUNT on the whole bill, for each of the 3 people. I'm not much of a drinker or pub patron but this place is close to where I stay sometimes, when I'm in the city. So, I've stopped by a few times for a bite to eat or a drink. It can get crowded in the evenings and you may need to wait for a table or seat at the bar. At others times I've walked right in. Service is friendly but not overly attentive. The food was very good. The service was fantastic. I don't remember our servers name but he was great. He was prompt, attentive (but not annoying). We were there for 3 hours and he would stop by and check up to see if we needed anything, but he didn't keep coming by we were a group of 5 getting together to get caught up and he let us be. The only negative was the physical setup. To get a table we had to go up 3 flights of steep steps, without any elevator. So if someone isn't comfortable with the steps, especially to this extent, you might want to reconsider. read more

A pleasant pub, spread across three floors. Staff is courteous but operates at a leisurely pace. They pour a nice pint of Guinness. It tasted like a fresh keg. But, it's served very cold so I would not describe it as "perfect." Let's call it "very good." read more

Have an excellent Guinness and wide variety of whiskeys. This was a return visit after being away for a few years and it still was as good as we remembered. The food was traditional bar/pub food but done well and at a reasonable price especially considering the location so close to Times Square. read more

Another after work hang out that falls in line with the rest in the area. Bartenders while friendly were a bit difficult to catch for a refill. Plenty of screens for sports watching and the volume of place is a bit lower than other bars. read more

Service was quick, friendly and non rushed. Great variety in menu. I had the Irish stew that had large chunks of vegetables and a great amount of braised beef. Fantastic flavor depth. The Rueben was an open faced sandwich which was the best we have had in years. Clean restaurant and nicely decorated. Open till three am. They even have their own house beers. Wife and I went for the Super Bowl and were surprised to be able to get a table. We've gone here a few times and it's a must stop every time we're in NY. The food is always fantastic and the service is always incredible. It wasn't too rowdy even though the Super Bowl was on and we had such a good time we stayed for the whole game when we planned on leaving at half. Perfect Pint lager is great as well. This spot remains on our NYC list of must stops. read more

Good food and plenty of good beer on tap! It's a big bar with three floors so it didn't feel as crowded on a Saturday night as some other bars can be. I also liked how they made some tables out of kegs- clever adaptive reuse! One downside was that the enclosed rooftop seemed to go from very hot to very cold every few minutes, which wasn't comfortable. read more

Weirdly spacious for a pub in Manhattan, but this place is good for watching a game. The beer was good and the food was decent, but I think I would mainly come here to watch a game with friends. I would definitely come back for that reason, but I wouldn't come here just for a meal. Great for happy hour with colleagues if you work nearby or for a game, but not a place to come out of your way for. read more

This is a nice bar to hang out for a few drinks. They had a nice assortment of beers on tap. We had the Harp Fish & Chips which was above average. The fries needed some salt and the coleslaw was too sweet. The bartender was working the bar by himself so you have to patiently wait. Way better than typical bar food. Been here 3x in the past 24 hours. Twice for cold beers and snacks after walking to Central Park and back and once just lunch. Well placed for where we are staying so that was a plus. Weather is amazing. NYC is kinda quiet. Stop here if you are near (and thirsty). Thanks Patrick. Came after work to have drinks with a friend. This place is kind of big with three floors . Def seems to be the go to spot after work. Dined on the enclosed rooftop which wasn't too crowded. I didn't really try any of their menu cocktails. But I did have my fav Moscow mule (they have 3 different types of mules) and it was made perfectly. The calamari was seasoned well and stayed crispy the whole 2 hours I was there.. the service was great with more than 1 server checking to see if everything was ok and making sure we were happy with our drinks . In town with some friends, and they were in the mood for a good burger and some specialty beer! Perfect pint is a unique 4 story restaurant located next to the Wyndham. They have roof top seating, but unfortunately it was full and so we sat on the lower level. They have the place nicely decorated, with some typical Irish decor and it certainly has that old Tudor type feel to it. They have a huge selection of beers draft and bottles, something for everyone and anyone's taste! The menu has some nice and different options. My friends got burgers, that they were very happy with, another tried the shepherds pie, which she also enjoyed. I chose their Cobb salad, not a huge salad but certainly packed with a lot of ingredients! This is a place that seems popular with the locals. If you're looking for somewhere quiet this is maybe not the place for you. read more

Everything was great until the bill came in my own fault I should have asked how much the shots were they came out to be 13 dollars each. However according to New York General Business Law. This law prohibits the changing of the price if chosen to use card. As it was not told to me if I use card I would be taxed or stayed on the menu or the restaurant until after I was charged after I asked about as it's not clear. Be wary of using a card I'm not sure if it was because I was a tourist. I've been here for more than a week and this hasn't ever happened. read more

WOW if this was just for service, the bartender on the second floor (older bald gentleman) was very attentive and one of the best bartenders I have seen. Was here for a work type function and there was shrimp, pizza, chicken tenders, and spring rolls. The fried shrimp and the chicken tenders were good. read more

VERY BAD customer service !! Walked in at 10:30 pm , told us we could only order drinks .... Went around corner to get food ... 20 minutes later came back to get a drink ... and we're told , we could no longer order drinks - they were closing ! MEANWHILE-- all signage ( including online ) says they are open til 2pm !!! HORRIBLE SERVICE ! Contacting local news about them ! Negative all the way around !!! read more

We love this place for many reasons. First, proximity to hotel where we stay. It's right next door. Next, service. Always top notch. All servers check in with diners even if not their table. Food is above average pub food with plenty of Irish specialties to choose from. Portions are generous. No going home hungry. You'll probably leave with a second meals worth. Drinks were well crafted and beer list extensive. We really enjoyed the house brewed drafts. Finally all this goodness did not break the bank. In NYC, that makes this a real gem of a find! read more

He got some sort of lettuce wraps and then he got fish and chips. The bartender was wonderful, I did not catch his name though. This bar is great to come to for games as they have many tvs. The bathrooms are pretty small just to let you know. I would come back again to enjoy some bevs and to try some of their food.

The fish batter was hard on the outside, and the fish was completely mushy on the inside. Like, gray mush. The fries were lukewarm. The mushy peas and the tartar sauce were served in little covered plastic disposable containers. I'm not a fan of that, but I get it is convenient. I truly wanted to like this place, and except for my one experience with the food, I would certainly return. People were having fun, and I did as well. I believe if they become a little more attentive in the kitchen, this place is a five star pub.

Apparently this beer is not as common in New York, but there were a couple Irish pubs that still sold them on draft and luckily there was one nearby my hotel. Very cool place! It's easy to miss walking by but once inside there's a bar on the main floor, restaurants in the next floor and a rooftop bar several stories up. The rooftop bar is a huge open atmosphere and once seated you have about 40 beers on tap to select from. The staff is incredibly friendly as well and knew exactly what I was looking for. Would definitely come back to try more drinks!

I even had to flail my arms just to get the tab and I can tell that it's their routine to ignore a certain demographic. I was only here because my friend had to meet up with my work colleagues so I thought I would grab a seat at the bar and enjoy a quick burger before heading out for birthday festivities. The burger and fries were good and the rooftop is nice. I have no desire to return but it's probably what they want.

Beef stroganoff was their soup of the day so I ordered it. I wasn't overly excited about stroganoff and when I opened it even less so it was like oil and water that wouldn't mix. I literally stirred it before each spoonful. But guess what? It grew on me and WAS really good!! Beef cubes, fresh mushrooms and onions and a belly warming broth. Hit the spot even though I was reluctant.

If you're planning to catch the World Cup or another big match, this probably wouldn't be my first choice. There are only a handful of seats with truly good views of the TVs, and my table's chairs were actually bolted to the floor, making it impossible to adjust for a better angle.

I arrived in 2008 with very little, and when Graydon Carter revived the restaurant in 2009, I was beginning a rise of my own, first at a large global bank and then, to my astonishment, at one of the city's most powerful investment firms. The suits were daily, the walls were gold, and the pressure was so consuming that even success could feel like a form of attrition. After a few years, I moved to a smaller firm with Southern roots, where the culture was more humane, the work gave me greater autonomy, and I produced some of the strongest results of my career, even within an industry still governed by fear, greed, and status. Inside, the red booths, low lighting, generous spacing, and hand-painted monkey murals made lunch feel ceremonial without becoming stiff. The room was timeless and handsome, with polished service, quality food, and the subtle assurance of a place where you could be proud to bring someone important. I especially remember sitting in one of those booths with 2 mentors, each only a few years older than I was and therefore close enough in vintage to feel relatable, trustworthy, and genuinely within reach. One had entered my life after I left the larger firm and helped me understand an earlier chapter that had also ended abruptly and, at the time, felt deeply unfair; the other had guided me through the smaller firm where I finally found a more sustainable way to work. Over that long lunch, I introduced them, we discussed several promising ideas, and for a moment my career seemed to have reached the point where relationships, experience, and opportunity were finally converging. One of those ideas consumed an extraordinary amount of my time and energy, and I believed it might become the foundation of my next chapter. Instead, the arrangement eventually turned on me, the role I thought I had earned never materialized, and the business itself sputtered. My professional life, financial footing, and pride all collapsed just as COVID was beginning. Then Monkey Bar closed in 2020, which made the ending feel almost unnervingly complete: the restaurant, the city, and the version of myself built around New York finance all went dark at once. For years, I experienced that ending as devastating and unfair; now I can see it as wisdom delivered through an unnecessarily rough process. The restaurant's later revival by a Chicago hospitality group feels fitting because it still honors tradition and ceremony while allowing the old forms to evolve into something healthier, looser, and more current. I have not been back since that lunch, but the idea of returning feels less like reclaiming an old life than dipping a toe into a world I no longer need to inhabit. Even now, I remember Monkey Bar as a great Midtown lunch in a handsome room, surrounded by the residue of old ambitions and the gratitude of having survived them. Plus, it was overpriced; for this dish, you're better off going to Strip House Strip House remains the undisputed king of this dish in New York. A friend ordered the chicken parmesan. It was just average. Another friend ordered the short rib stroganoff. The flavor was decent, but it was far too rich and heavy. As someone whose palate is split 50/50 between Western and Chinese cuisine, I could manage only five bites at most. If you have a palate that prefers 100% Chinese food, proceed with caution on this dish. Friends ordered sides of mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. These are dishes originally meant for low-income Americans to fill up on cheaply; there's no limit to how good they can be, but also no floor to how bad they can get. Both were on par with the average quality found in upscale restaurants. Honestly, these are two dishes I would never order myself. To sum up: the atmosphere was great. It's also hard to get a reservation; the place was packed when we had lunch at 2 PM. Aside from that monkey bread, I didn't feel like anything else justified the price or offered something you couldn't find elsewhere. I don't quite get the hype. Perhaps I just didn't order the right dishes; maybe next time I'll try the burger and the steak.

He had the Fraunces tavern option on tap and I had a Narragansett summer one. The bartender seemed fine and nice. Ambiance here is as it is an old tavern it sure has that feeling to it. There are many rooms and dinning options within this tavern. I have only sat at the bar area the times that I have been here.
