Delicious. Excellent bartender. Ordered the Pond Jumper on a lark and it was *delicious*. Also at the table was a Smithwicks and not a drop was left behind. Fam got Irish Stew & Shepherd's Pie. 10/10. 11 year old ate the entire portion of the stew- it was a huge portion, big chunks of meat. Quiet on a Monday evening but we got a great table subsequently. Cool and cozy feeling bar. It has a back area with some seating and a long bar with alot of seating. In the front there is a little like private area kinda like a booth with no doors. This is an irish bar too. Seems to be a big golf bar maybe as I saw some golf bags hanging up at the bar area. You can also reserve the back area for parties. For food I had cheese sliders they were ok nothing special. The group I was with all had drinks and said that they were all good. So maybe next time I come here I will have to try a cocktail. Mixed review. Overall, go for drinks and if you want to watch golf. If you are going to eat, avoid the fish and chips. Worst I ever had. Fish was dry. Batter for fish was just cornmeal. I was on a trip and came to this bar on 8/3. It was a little bit after midnight when I came in. The bar was full people. I found an empty bar stool and took a sit. A guy on my left side, and two girls talking to each other. I was looking around for a bartender. The guy put his hands on me and said "leave those girls alone and get out of here." (Note: I do not go for American women, they not my type.) He clearly was over intoxicated. To avoid confrontation. I looked for another place sit. I sat at the very end of bar. It took around ten minutes before a bartender would help me. After I finally got a beer. I watched a bartender and customer go behind the bar and do a shot together with the bartender. There are many hotels on that block where this bar is located. It doesn't matter if you're a tourist or a local. This bar is full of red flags. And overly intoxicated customers who put hands on people. Bartenders taking shots. And not properly greeting guests. This bar is a beacon to avoid. I rushed to drink my one beer and get out of there. They need to be greatful for every customer they get. I'm actually a very antisocial person. All I was trying to do. was grab a beer and celebrate my birthday in my home state. The ambiance of The Westbury is great. The interior is really cozy and comfortable with ample & relatively private seating. The food is alright, so is the service. I ordered the veggie curry pie and was initially brought the wrong item. The waitress was not kind when I asked for a correction and insisted that I ordered something different than I did. We came here for Trivia night on a Wednesday at 7pm. It's a pleasant bar but the trivia night was a lot more serious than I've been used to from before. Additionally, most of the questions revolved around an older demographic so it got a little boring sometimes. The drinks were amazing though and everybody was very very kind. This is a review for their trivia nights which are pretty solid. I appreciate how they designate the upstairs area, as other bars that don't do the same can be quite rowdy/hard-to-hear. It gets full quickly so I recommend coming at least 15 minutes early: my friend and I once came only 5 minutes early and got very lucky with a makeshift table. The food here seems authentically Irish, and fairly reasonable priced. We had the Shepherd's pie and it was pretty good. Neither of us drink, and we received many dirty looks from our waitress for not ordering any drinks. read more

The remake of the old Australian puts another quality Irish bar on 38th street between 5th and 6th avenues. I had the cheeseburger and fries and it is an upgrade for this area. The menu has an Irish breakfast but a small increase in quality menu items is my recommendation. I don't have a feel fro the atmosphere as it was a quiet day where enjoyed my Sunday meal. Stumbled upon this little gem when looking for lunch on a Sat afternoon. The owner stopped to chat; it's owned by an Irish family that bought it in Jan 2020 - opening had been set for the week in March that Covid hit. He said it was a rough couple of years but they finally opened this year. He said things are going well and they're hoping to make a go of it. Husband had bangers and mash; I had a fish taco.
