I've been coming here for 15+ years specifically for the live music. I remember when the cover was typically $10, $15, or $20. However, when we went this evening, the cover was $40 per person. For a casual night out, that felt quite steep, especially since the pricing wasn't listed on the website. A server grabbed us waters and I eventually ordered a downeast cider from MA. The cider was super refreshing and had hints of sweetness without being too overpowering. With my stomach not being too happy I ordered a baked potato and my mom the fish and chips substituting the fries for onion rings. Well the onion rings, to put it as nice as possible, had seen better days. They were way over cooked and hard as bricks--we did not need to even bite into one to notice this! Thankfully the server understood and swapped out the rings for another piece of fish. And speaking of the fish it was amazing! Lightly fried and a little crispy around the edges it made every bite so good--no tartar sauce needed! Also, the meal came with coleslaw, which was nice surprise. 11/8/25 - This place is walking distance from Times Square. We walked into the first level and the staff directed us to the second floor to be seated for dinner. We were seated right away and the waitstaff were attentive throughout our time there. I ordered the Applewood Grilled Chicken Sandwich, which came with a side of fries and a pickle slice, for $21. The fries weren't anything special but I did like the sandwich. The portion was bigger than I expected and it was filling due to it having 2 pieces of chicken breast stacked on top of each other. The second floor also has bar seating in addition to larger tables for families or bigger parties. Every place we'd thought of ahead of time was totally slammed - yes, they decided to come in on the weekend before Christmas, kind of a crazy time, especially in the area around Rockefeller Center! But we passed this place and they had some open tables, so in we went, no reservations, and no problem! We were seated in their back section, in a cozy corner. The place was close to full, but it was surprisingly not loud and raucous. That was a pleasant surprise! One friend had a Guinness (of course!) and his lunch was the potato leek soup and the big beer pretzel. Loved it. His wife and I shared an order of wings, meaty and good. She asked for the wings mild, so I asked for hot sauce and that worked out perfectly. We also shared the Greek Goddess Salad, which had 4 or 5 large shrimp on it. Very good and the 2 items were plenty for 2 of us. Each had 4 wings and, duh, half the salad. My husband had a focaccia that he said was okay. He and I each had a half-pint of Guinness. I went with the daily special of wagyu blend Guinness infused patty with Guinness onions and cheese and wow was that good! I hate the slightest taste of beer, so I was very happy with how this turned out--all flavor, no weird after tastes at all. Sweet potato fries were better than regular fries. All fires aren't greasy/salty, so I was happy not to feel heavy after a late dinner. There are multiple floors in this massive establishment. If you're looking for a dinner spot, do first floor--it's the least loud/rowdy option. The higher you go, the rowdier the vibe gets. The rooftop get super packed and busy and insanely loud. This is a really cool spot. It is aesthetically pleasing and exciting to see. They have draft handles as faucets in bathroom and kegs as a sink - that IS really cool and creative. Stopped by Connolly's since I needed a spot to get a quick bite before a 7:30 pm Broadway show at the St James Theater. This was my first time here and the place was busier than expected on a Wednesday at 6 pm. The first floor was completely full so a hostess walked us upstairs to the 2nd floor. All of the bar seats were taken upstairs as well so she agreed to seat us at a table on the far side of the dining room at the windows and said we could only have the table until 7 pm, when a large party was coming in. The acoustics by the bar area were so loud, so it was definitely better sound wise to be seated at a table by the windows - however the heat vents were right next to our legs/feet, so it was uncomfortable temperature wise after a while. Since we only had an hour, we decided we'd just share a couple of apps. Their app selection isn't the most enticing. I asked the waitress how many chicken tenders ($16) come in an order - she told me 6-8, so I was disappointed when 4 average size tenders came out on the plate - we also had to wait to get small plates to eat them on since they didn't bring them out before or with the food. Our second app were the soft baked pretzel sticks ($14) - 3 in an order. Those were very good with the beer cheese. They have an expansive selection of beers on tap - I thought I'd get a little bit of a bargain by ordering one of their house beers but it's the same cost as the other beers on tap (no drink prices on the menu). They also have Kona Big Wave incorrectly listed on their menu under the IPAs - despite having an 'Ale" section. Right at 6:50 pm, the giant group they warned us about came in and took up all the dining tables on the 2nd floor - they didn't seem to be from the US. This bar seems to attract a big tourist crowd, probably because of its proximity to Times Square. I was pretty underwhelmed and don't need to come back here again. read more

Was in NYC on my day off and stumbled upon this Irish pub/restaurant and since it was lunch time figured id give it a shot. I was greeted and seated within a couple of minutes. The atmosphere is warm and inviting The menu is a mix of traditional American food and beers as well as Irish classic food such as shepherds pie , Irish breakfast sausage , and bangers and mash (which is what I ordered). The server I had had an Irish accent which added to the overall feel of the restaurant. I also had the Connollys Irish Red house beer. The Bangers and mash were exceptional and cooked the perfection. The potatoes were light and airy and the bangers were nice a juicy. I don't have Irish food often but when I do I try to find a place that is as close to authentic as I can find. My daughter really wanted an Irish breakfast. So, we came to Connolly's for brunch. I got the banana walnut pancakes, she got the Irish breakfast and my friend got a chicken Panini. The food was pretty good. My pancakes, which were regular pancakes topped with a scoop of strawberry butter, some honey roasted walnuts (did not seem like it was done in House) and some sliced banana. On the menu said it was served with maple syrup. It did not come with syrup at all. I had to flag the waitress down to try to get some. It did not taste like it was fresh maple syrup. It tasted like "Log Cabin" or something like that. There was a party going on outside. There wasn't really anybody else inside except for us. Great location just off time square. We ended up here at midnight, as it's across from the hotel we stayed at. Food was good quality. Husband absolutely loved the prime rib dip (and he's from Los Angeles - the home of prime rib dip). I got the portobello focaccia - I don't have much to say about it, as I got it due to not feeling well and was scared to eat mostly anything else in the city due to grease lol. I cannot comment on the drinks. I cannot really comment on the ambiance. What I can comment on is the service and our meal that afternoon and the service. Their chili stuffed potato skin was filling, comforting, and so good! It's a meal in itself, but it served as our appetizer. I don't see it on the menu anymore. I ordered their Harp Beer Battered Fish and Chips while he ordered the Guiness Grilled Rib Steak. Their fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The fish wasn't greasy. They were huge pieces of fish fried perfectly. It paired so well w/ the coleslaw and the tanginess from the tartar sauce. The leftovers did create a bit of grease, but it was to be expected. I still enjoyed it that night! I was thirsty and must have had 4 Diet Coke refills. Our server was quick and checked on us a few times. I was looking forward to Connolly's Corned Beef Reuben Sandwich which was described in the menu as "Open-faced corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, thousand island dressing, rye. This was a major disappointment. The corned beef was OK but they left out most of the sauerkraut and dressing. I don't think I've ever tried to eat a drier corned beef Reuben sandwich!
