I like this bar for happy hour. The drink specials are decent, usually featuring something other than Bud Light like Smithwick or Bass. If you arrive early enough for happy hour, you can usually find a nice corner spot to sit and drink, which is nice because the beers come to you [via waitress]. Bartenders and waitresses are A+. Don't expect to see basketball or baseball on the TVs at this bar; soccer..err..football dominates. read more

Due to its proximity to my offices in Midtown, this is the Irish pub of choice when it comes to happy hour. Nothing fancy about this place...your typical pub...with the typical beer stench...but hey...they are good at pouring a good pint! For those into billiard, they even have a pool table. A nice, fairly-priced bar near Grand Central. If you have feet and don't want to pay Grand Central food and drink prices, it's worth your time. Good spot to kick back some drinks after work. They play an interesting mix of music, at least when I've been there. I'm not sure if it's Juke box driven or just someone with a good mix list. Peter Dillon's is right near Grand Central and a lot of offices so, it's location is prime. It's very crowded around 6 so, you do have to squeeze to the front and get your order in. The staff is fun and the prices are amazing. There are some stools and tables towards the back but, they're usually taken. Overall, it's such a fun bar and has $4 beers! One of my favorite bars in midtown to play pool or hang out with friends. Relaxed and cozy dive bar where many regulars get together after work for billiards. Always a friendly face and many excellent pool players. Just make sure to avoid league nights if you're looking to play. Bartenders are amazing! Love that you can order food delivered to the bar from outside or bring food from other establishments like burgers from the nearby Shake Shake. On certain nights they have amazing live musicians. On the evening of March 30, 2017, I went to Dillon's bar with some friends after work. I've been a regular customer at the bar for over a year, and have received exceptional customer service from Deckland and Efie. My drink of choice is a Long Island Iced-Tea and visit the bar regularly during the week. Many people frequent this bar during their lunch hour too,, and bring their lunches to eat there while they are served their drinks. On 3/30, I had a new (to me) bartender, very tall Irish guy. When I asked for my drink, he refused to serve it. When I asked why, he refused to answer. I didn't ask for a rare drink, or a drink that is not served there. I asked for a simple Long Island, and he refused to serve, and rudely asked my friends for their orders. When I turned to ask my friends for their input, he yelled at me to open a tab immediately (as if I had intended not to pay). My friends and I ordered drinks. The drinks we received were awful (this bar usually serves GREAT drinks), so I offered my friends a bottle of beer that I had bought intending to drink it later at home. The bartender spotted the bottle. He demanded that we give it to him. We refused, stating that we were were going to drink it outside the establishment, as were preparing to leave. He angrily demanded the bottle. Not wanting further trouble, we allowed this blatant theft of my personal property. Deciding to cut the evening short at one drink because of this treatment, we paid and left. We were so angry by his behavior, that we refused a tip, and told him he had provided shit service. He followed us half a block from the bar after we had already left and screamed and cursed at the top of his lungs that we were barred from the establishment. I'm sad and angry to have had such a negative experience at Dillon's, a bar I've recommended it to many friends. read more

Came to this chill spot in midtown with one of my best friends. Apparently it's his go-to for happy hour. I absolutely in love with the vibe. It's definitely the "shoot the shit" kind of place; especially after a long day in the office. It's more of a young professional to older professional crowd, but absolutely a great time. They have a full bar, great music...I'm listening to Green Day throwbacks lol. It's decently priced with $4 Jameson shots and half off draft beers. Can't beat that. Since a group of us were afflicted by the power outage, we looked to kill a few hours before dinner and heading back to the east village and wandered into Peter Dillon's with the hopes of electricity, cell service, and mostly alcohol. While the bartender was quite friendly and the bar wasn't too crowded, one of their employees, a gentleman of poor hygiene, let us know within 2 minutes of sitting down (I had half a Guinness down already) that if everybody wasn't going to buy a drink immediately, the exit was to our left. Great Irish pub for an after work happy hour... i work a block away and probably been here like 30 times so far. Their happy hour is from 5 to 7pm weekdays, they have $4 pints of Stella, Blue Moon or Bud Light or shots of Jameson or Jaegar. The bartenders are all cool, the crowd is mostly an afterwork crowd, but not many suits... usually business casual. There's a few TVs by the bar, a pool table in the back, and various seating and tables all around. They don't serve food, but they do have menu's from restaurants in the neighborhood that do so if you want to order something and have it delivered, you can. About 630-700, they dim the lights and it gets dark. Sometimes it gets really loud and it's always crowded during Thurs or Friday happy hours. Stick around for 3-4 beers, and you might get the next beer on the house. I usually do - like I said, great pub for after work. read more

A belated review for this awesome bar! In hopes of finding a place to throw my boy friend a surprise birthday party, I scoured yelp for a place with the following criteria: 1. CHEAP drinks (we are a post grad crowd). 2. Midtown (easy access for people traveling from other boroughs) but.... I didn't want it to feel like Times Square tourist season 3. Not to crowded a place/has a room for my 30 guests. Peter Dillion matched all of this! After reading a yelp review about a wedding party that finished up their night there i figured it must be a good place for large groups and I decided to check it out. I went on a slow afternoon (lots of middle-aged men on their lunch break, casual jeans place) and a sweet Irish woman answered my questions. If I could guarantee a party of 15+ all drinks would be 5$ max (there was another open bar option, I think it was 30$ maybe? I knew my guests wouldn't want to spend that) and they would reserve a back space (not exactly a ROOM but sectioned off) for the group. Done! The manager called me the day before the party to confirm. On the night of the party it seemed like the bar was just filled with my guests and another party in a different section of the bar. It was the perfect combination of loud and fun but quiet enough to talk. Then there was karaoke later on (both a blessing and a curse haha). The bartenders were great, both young guys and when I told them I was throwing the party they handed me a drink on the house. By the end of the night we were pals! I have to say I liked this bar. I have been here a few times with friends, and although it is not "party central" I have always met cool people and had a great time. It's very laid back, definitely a neighborhood bar, and the bartenders/wait staff definitely take care of you with buy backs. They do not have food, but when we were all hungry, they offered us take out menus to get some kicking pizza (OK that may have been the booze helping the kicking pizza comment--do not mix martinis, whiskey and Bud Light. Ever. You have been warned). My biggest disappointment was they did not serve Smithwicks, which is like my favorite beer. Other than that, I was quite happy! read more

This bar may be decent during times when it isn't that busy but on weekday evenings it's a madhouse. Typical midtown after-work crowd. The bartenders are friendly and attentive, prices aren't bad at all, but it's such a small space that it gets way too crowded to even be enjoyable. Also, the mixed drinks are extremely watered down and, for some reason, served in a tiny wine glass. Not even worth $7. I recommend saving your money for a bar that isn't so cramped and will give you your money's worth on drinks. read more

Thank you fellow yelpers for helping me make the great decision of going here after work yesterday; it was a GREAT choice. Peter Dillon's is that great after-work drink spot for those in the area looking for somewhere "off the beaten path" of all the Grand Central/Times Square madness. We got there just at the right time; sometime between 5:45-6:00. The main bar had no open seats so we wandered to the cute cushioned bench seats with tables. I had read about the $4 happy hour and indulged on $4 blue moons and Jameson shots happily (I think somewhere I read HH ends at seven, but in fact, its 8!) The 'lounging' area was nicely decorated with a tasteful country/pub feel to it, including festive Christmas decorations/lights, it was a nice cozy spot to relax and have a beer after work; there was a pool table and all of the tv's were at the bar, so it was nice to not have a distracting tv right in your face, but at a glance you can check out what's going on at the bar. Probably around 6:30ish it got really crowded and I was thankful for my cozy table. The only server/waitress I saw working was very attentive, until it started getting busy. All in all, a nice cozy pub thats close to GC, I will be returning, I'm sure :) read more

What a fun place! Bartenders are super nice! It was crowded but you could still move about. Other patrons kept to themselves and enjoyed their time. There was no inkling of anyone noticing that my boyfriend and I were newbies. It was karaoke night. Usually, I run away FAST from karaoke bars. However, the people who sang had incredible talent. We had a great time listening to the music and shooting pool. There is a nice area sectioned off for the pool table. There are benches and a table. My coworkers and I have been coming to this bar multiple times a week for about a year. Monday-Friday, it is the perfect bar to hang out with your friends. Cheap drinks, chill atmosphere, and a wonderful staff. On Saturday, however, I had a very different experience. The staff was disgustingly rude to us and basically refused to serve me until I ordered over $10 of drinks up front (which is hard when drinks are only $4). My boyfriend and I were glad to be back at our hang out though, so we let it slide. About 30 minutes into our visit, the man sitting next to me starts giving my boyfriend the finger and just staring at him. This went on for 20 minutes so we decided to get up and move because, weird. We get up and the guy who looked high out of his mind starts getting up, talking shit, and threatening us. We knew better than to engage in this and risk getting kicked out of our favorite bar, so we told the bartender who said... Nothing. Just stared. My boyfriend asked him if he heard him to which the bartender responded, he's been sitting here all night without a problem. The cherry on top was when I went to check out my check read "2 Jameson's, 1 PBR, 1 beer". I had not ordered a fourth drink and was skeptical of the generic "beer" written (which cost as much as a shot and a PBR?!). When I questioned it, the bartender gave me a hard time but agreed to take it off. Next day i check my bank statement and I got charged twice! Once with the wrong amount, once with the right. The service Saturday night was absolutely disgusting. I love PDs and the Irish gang mon-fri, but after being ripped off, disrespected, threatened, and charged twice, my friends and I are doubting our loyalties. read more

This spot was very nice and laid back. The security in the door was a bit ride, but besides that everything about this place was fun. They have karaoke, and a pool table.
