On a Saturday night at 7:00pm we got street parking right in front of Connolly's Restaurant & Pub on E 47th Street in NY. Connolly's is an old fashioned pub with wood decor bar and dining rooms with an Irish style. The service was friendly and quick our server had an Irish accent and great personality! First drinks and beer and a Shirley Temple for the kiddo! We started with onion soup which was freshly made hot with cheese over the top! Then we had the burgers and a Cobb salad everything was delicious! Dessert was key lime pie and chocolate volcano cake! We were there just this afternoon but I had to write because our experience was a special one. We were at an Italian place not far away who asked us to leave because we had chicken nuggets with us for my 6 year old with autism. I explained the reasons why I have to bring outside food with me but we were asked to leave regardless. A truly horrible feeling that I wouldn't wish on anyone. We left and walked in front of Connolly's and I figured we'd ask before sitting and tell them up front our situation. The manager (Diego I believe he said was his name) came over right away. I explained everything and he immediately put my mind at ease. He took us to the table, explained that he understands because he sister has worked with the special needs community for many years and that these exceptions are the least they can do. I broke into tears right there at the table. I can't tell you what that act of kindness and inclusion meant to me. Onto the food-delicious! Fresh and fast and we didn't drop more than $50. The place is an old-fashioned pub but I liked it. The dark wood throughout was beautiful. The service was great as well. Thank you guys for today-it really meant the world. read more

A true Irish pub. With over 20 beers on tap with good service, this is a good after work spot to stop for a pint after a long day. For those looking to avoid the tourist crowd downstairs, make your way upstairs. I ordered the "Incredible Lamb Burger" with sweet potato fries. I wouldn't call it incredible but the burger was pretty good. The Guinness was A+. Perfect taste and a nearly perfect pour. Really fun pub for after work drinks, the place gets packed. We went upstairs and there was nowhere to sit but we find a nice table that was high top so we could stand around. The vibe is full of adults getting a drink after work so at 5-7pm it's packed but it starts dying down at 8ish. Good time and great service. read more

Honestly, we stopped here to get out of the rain and it was worth it! Get yourself a bloody Mary when you are here, it's their thing. We also ordered mozzarella sticks and pretzels. This establishment practices discrimination and has a judgemental man working there, assuredly a host as it was explained to my father he is not a manager. Below is a picture of how my father was dressed, as a well to do 74 year old man. Bear with me, as there is a lesson to be learned for us all in this. My father took his weekly train ride from the affluent town of Point Pleasant for his normal walk and meal, a 50 year school administrator and Graduate University Professor. An average sized guy with a mostly salt and some pepper beard worker came and stood in front of him with his back to my father, in front of the host stand. My dad waited 3-5 minutes, when the worker asked "uh can I help you?" My father said yeah a seating for one, please. He saw the Shepherd Pie and thought that and a beer sounded good. The worker asked "Do have cash or credit?" My father, surprised asked what difference it made??? The man was stoic and staring with judgement. So my father said forget it, I'll go elsewhere. He went up the street spending $50 not including as always a generous tip. He finished and returned to Connollys on 47th near the broadway museum. He approached another female hostess and asked if it was normal policy to ask how the patron will be paying. She said no. The same man with the grey beard and hat came to stand next to her, glaring silently. My dad said "I just went up the street and spent my money there. And my review will reflect your behavior and won't fall short as a lifetime educator at a high level and high earner. Never again. I'll be calling to talk to management if there is no reasonable response to he or I. We share a last name. Won't be hard to figure out. We are all humans with feelings, and you never know how wealthy the person you're judging and embarassing is. The fried cod part of their fish and chips dish was really good, although the chips part (fries for we Americans) were borderline OK. As a neighborhood pub, I think they do well. I came here for an early lunch before a show. I had the bangers with mash potatoes and mushy peas. The meal hit the spot. I had never had Irish bangers. I have had the English bangers in England before. The English bangers are pork sausages that have wheat added to them. These Irish bangers were delicious. I ordered a Bass ale, quinoa burger with sweet potato fries. Toni got a Blue Moon, Gaelic burger and regular fries. Per usual she won the menu game. The drinks came quickly, the food not long behind. Both the sweet potato fries and the regular were hot, crispy and perfectly salted. The quinoa burger was loaded with toppings including an entire slab of red onion. (Too much). After stripping the burger of most of the onion, I took a bite. Delicious. Nice and hot, and have of the quinoa patty squished out the back. No worries. Fork to the rescue. Toni's burger patty was cooked perfect. The topping ( except the red onion) well balanced. And a beef patty doesn't squish out the back. The food was great. The service only medium. The place was nearly empty, the room we were in only had us. My second beer was a long time coming. Having worked in food service, both too busy and too slow impacts service negatively. But I guess I expected more post COVID in NYC. I would recommend, both the both the place and the Gaelic burger. Maybe sit at the bar. read more

I've been here a few times for the Irish Breakfast. It's always a tradition for my cousin and I every time we visit the city together. It's a feast! First few visits it was amazing. Last visit it was just okay, unfortunately. The Irish Breakfast consists of eggs, sausage, potatoes, beans, ham, toast, mushrooms, and black and white pudding (oatmeal and pork liver).
