The Mercedes dealership had pretty much thrown up their hands over my 24 year-old SLK 350. When it died, I decided to have it towed to Pete's Autohaus. Glad that I did. They were reliable and brought my car back. Besides the problem with the engine (water pump) and belt, it had a dead board, so all the tell-tales were lit on the dash. Would have prevented me from getting smogged as the "check engine" was on. Dealer said there was nothing they could do. Pete's found a (used) replacement and programmed it. Now my car feels twenty-years younger. I appreciated the fact that someone was always available to speak with me. Sure, it cost, but probably less than the service at the dealer. After months of searching, my fiance and I picked up our white, 1980 450SL from a small private seller in the valley back in 2023. We had some minor work done to the car to make it drivable and safe. Fast forward to present day [2025] and where it was now time to have some major services/improvements made to the vehicle. We were originally connected to Pete's Autohaus through one of our neighbors who couldn't stop raving about the service, honesty and integrity exemplified at PA. We were so fortunate to connect with David and Pete on the first phone call. They were responsive, allowed us to tow the car immediately to the facility and proceeded to go through a full diagnostic of the vehicle. This diagnostic was exactly what we were looking for: Pictures of every item, a rating showing how important it was to fix said item on a scale ranging from "Dangerous/Safety Concern" to "Cosmetic". I then received a call directly from Pete after hours to walk through each and every item and talk about the specific need/concern that was currently present or would arrive if action wasn't taken. He did not grow impatient with my questioning, was mindful of costs and subsequently provided me with updates if estimates were off the mark with parts he had to source. I called here requesting a quote for a transmission repair for my vehicle. I was quoted a fair price of $3k. When the gentleman asked me for more details, I explained the issue I was experiencing with my vehicle. I explained further and the gentleman advised me that what I was experiencing was not normal for the mileage and make and model. I told him that I was quoted $4k from the Mercedes Benz dealership bc I was just shy of my warranty. While the owner might have had the opportunity to service my vehicle and make business out of my distress-- instead he was transparent and guided me on how to move forward with Mercedes Benz. I was able to negotiate a pretty steep discount from the actual dealership bc of his advice. I just wanted to post this as a thank you for the advice I was given. Update 3: Pete took care of again and Dave/ his team were communicative throughout. Excellent job all around. Update 2: Pete called me back the very next day to (genuinely) understand everything that happened and how they plan to improve as a business moving forward. Most business owners give a fake public apology on yelp or ignore the review. It's quite apparent he's passionate about his business and the satisfaction of his clientele. Hats off to him. Update: I have to say that as the 'transportation' for my wife dropping off her BMW, I am not pleased. It's not because it's the 2nd time of overpromising and underdelivering on timeframe because, I get it... things come up during inspections (which happened in her case). However, what I'm disappointed in is the recent lack of communication. I texted them yesterday to get a status update and received nothing. As someone staying home from work because I'm sick, I would appreciate an update on when I'm expected to drop/ pick up my wife. Even today, we had heard nothing up until 2:40ish. I will give credit where credit is absolutely due. My wife is pleased with the work done and fair pricing they provided her. Additionally and in the future, if I switch back to a Mercedes/ Audi I will give Pete's another shot. This is the only place I take my 1998 740il BMW for 25 years. And I mean the only place. Here is another reason why. When I accelerate to take off , it would drag. Opinions were "your transmission is going. I called Pete and explained what was happening and said drop in I will take a look at it. This was Friday evening. I went in and right away he got inside the car to take off and discovered I had been driving with the manual switch on which means I had to change gears. Didn't know that. Before sending me on my way, he said let me check your oil and water level, topped the oil off and refused to charge. After a series of unsatisfactory visits to a local Mercedes repair shop for my daughter's newly acquired pre-owned SLK, I found Pete's Autohaus through a strong recommendation. In my 40 years of car ownership, I have never received such thorough, professional, and courteous engagement. Both Paul and Art spent considerable time assessing the vehicle with me. Because they had no previous history with my daughter's car, they asked probing questions, following up with additional questions depending on my responses. Once the vehicle was in their possession, they called with updates, providing detailed explanations of what they had diagnosed (in our case, a leaking PCV valve that fouled the air mass sensor). As the car was new to their shop, they fully inspected the vehicle, providing a list of areas requiring future maintenance, ascribing a numerical score of 1-5 based on severity of need... with 1 requiring immediate attention and 5 representing aesthetic or non-critical. Because this vehicle was new to us, the scoring matrix provided great direction on how to prioritize our maintenance. Pete's team (and Pete himself) gave this automobile their full attention, discovering the source of the lagging/lurching, which the first shop did not properly identify (despite charging a considerable amount for repairs that did not rectify the problem). I end up getting a flat and try changing the wheels myself. However, because I'm not a car guy, I drop the car off the jack and now there's was a clicking noise when driving. my car broke down on the 710 before the 91 and had it towed to Pete's. I was planning to bring it in but I broke down first. David graciously accepted the car although super busy. One of the mechanics, who was meticulous and professional did some diagnostics based upon my semi- belief what the problem could be. David kept me updated and reassured me that he'd get me going asap and not to worry. In that I needed a new engine replaced less than 9,000 miles ago I had not decided on a true Benz mechanic bc so many say they are and shouldn't nor do they have the proper skill set. My experience at Pete's Autohaus was 10/10. They were able to diagnose the issues with my Mercedes after only several hours. My previous auto repair location were not able to pinpoint the issues. You can make an appointment, you can do a walk in and wait for an oil change. You can drop off your car when the shop is closed. If you need to go to work they can offer a ride! This post is in response to Pete's response on my post. When my cigarette lighter was out , when I first bought the car, I went to this place to find out where the fuses are as they in a different place! He fixed it. I didn't remember that It was free. He sat in my car and showed me all sorts of things and how to operate them. I DID NOT REQUEST THAT! He was very nice. I asked him what an oil change would cost and the price was exorbitant, in my estimation, as he is not a dealership. I did not need an oil change then, but was curious. I knew that I would not be able to afford his service, thus, I did not return, although, I did get oil changes elsewhere regularly. Fast forward to now: I was told to go to him for diagnostic. I called him before this. I did not realize it was the place from before until I began speaking with him. I do not believe, I had not called him since the first time with the cigarette lighter fuse thing, although I may have called him one other time. Nevertheless, as soon as I got there he said that he would not work on my vehicle because I did not value his work. Untrue. I never said such. It seems that any person who knows how to take apart engines and put them back together should have work valued and I do not think his WORK is unimportant! I was quite polite and appalled at his words! He also is ridiculously stating that I desire work performed for free! That is absurd. I have never ever expected such from anyone unless my vehicle was new and the dealership had to do something while it is under warranty. Certainly, I do not expect free work from a small specialty car repair shop. I now give him a one star due to his attitude towards me, and concern might develop attitudes towards other customers. Beware, he may turn on YOU! It was quite unprofessional of him to respond in such a manner It does nit matter if I drive an older BMW or a thrashed Pinto, I need to be respected as a consumer and customer, and not accused of "not valuing his work." If you like this businrss, congratulations, you probably were treated nice and returned to him, as I was treated nice the first time. His behavior towards me was atrocious when I did return to him. I never mistreated, had attitude, nor complained to anyone concerning him. Also, I have not phoned him "many" times. Concerning his statement that other places called him about my car, I believe one place called, a friend of mine, which I had no knowledge of at the time. In fact, several places were called. There are multiple BMW repair shops out there whose owners do not act like they are superior. These cars have many glitches and are known to often be problematic. I have found a wonderful, caring, and detailed mechanic. This is my experience. I hope you have a wonderful experience with Pete, since he is only in business because of the customer. read more

Seems like the previous reviewer needs a better understanding of the auto repair business. Most good shops invariably road-test their completed work. It's called QC, dood. I asked one of the best Porsche mechanics in California about where to take my Mercedes E320 and he told me Pete's. I started with a Pre-Purchase Inspection. They found a few maintenance items which I asked them to take care of. For other things such as a leaky rear shock and transmission fluid they said wait and see. Very honest. I have (thankfully) been back only a couple times since then. They are extremely courteous and even gave me a ride to the bus station after drop-off. They even let me bring my own parts after I had diagnosed the problem myself. Prices were good. read more

Had to find a place to service my Mini Cooper and found this one had good reviews on BOTH Yelp and Google. From Day 1 Pete and his crew were very HELPFUL & HONEST. They answered all my questions. I spoke to Paul and he told me what I could expect and gave me a cost estimate and timeframe. He worked with my work schedule. The service went smoothly and they kept me up to date and answered questions via text. They let me know my tires were balding and was able to provide multiple (price tier - fancy vs. economy) fix options. All work was completed in about 24 hours for my particular issues.
