Great pie, if you get the standards. I once ordered a novelty pizza with lettuce can't remember what exactly. Maybe the cheeseburger pizza. Absolutely disgusting. Hot lettuce on a pie is gross. But I have gone and tried other pizzerias and the sauce is just always off or mediocre. Pete's knows what they are doing. Anchovies when I am in a mood are awesome. Jalapeños suck! They are pickled this one gets that nasty vinegar all over the pizza. Don't say they are fresh when they are in fact pickled. Then you won't get complaints, when I even clarify they are fresh, right. Right. Then end up with pickled peppers,...that is not a fresh ingredient. It's canned. read more

Why is this place is still open for business, I don't know! This place has THE WORT Italian food we've ever had and we wasted $50 worth of take out. You can immediately tell they use frozen (not fresh) chicken for their chicken parmigiana. (Yuk!) And their chicken Marsala?!?! OMG, Forget it! It sucks so bad. This was my absolute favorite place for pizza, I would literally or 2 or 3 times a week. For some reason a while back the crust began to change to a very very thin crust. I really hoped it was a fluke or different cook that night but no...Unfortunately they have made some kind of change that has made it nowhere near as good as before. This place used to be good,we spend close to $100 every time we order delivery for years now and these last few months things have gotten gradually worse. This last time was terrible,the food tasted reheated and old everyone got sick. Last time we will order from here. Between Suparossa and Petes 2 being our go to for over a decade and both being disgusting now. we ordered a BLT with and stuffed shells. it took almost 2 hours for our food to arrive. I already knew the food would be cold and yes I've cold. fries were mushy, cold and disgusting. the BLT was so bad and half the bacon wasn't cooked. they give you 3 little shells that weren't tasty at all. so we spent $40 for cold gross food. before the food arrived I had thrown out the menu so as to never be tempted to order from there again. read more

I have gone back several times and had food delivered and the service is much better now. They have a great choice of pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, dinner plates, etc. Their salads are fresh and big. I ordered their spinach cheese bread and it was a huge portion. It's never too busy or loud. The people that work there are really nice- I need to ask their names, since I do plan to keep going here. It is close to home and always very reliable. Their drinks are pretty good too. We ordered martinis and they were quite good. They have booths, so you can sit with another person, but they can also accommodate large parties. My Mom is addicted to their pizza. It's really tasty, well seasoned and not greasy. read more

I've been in the neighborhood for 6 months and this has been the best pizza that I've found on the northwest side. My favorite things about Pete's Pizza #2 is the quality ingredients. The cheese has a great flavor, texture, and doesn't upset my stomach like other lower quality cheeses do. The meats and vegetables are always fresh too. Ordered food for my last time today, they decided to enforce the "No mask No service policy which is fine that's their right to do so. Unfortunately it was before the elected government officials mandated it, its only recommended. Just a thought but next time they should inform they're customers when they call and place an order for pickup so customers are not unprepared. Not having a mask I was left with my only option which was a old bandanna covered in bug spray sitting in my truck, top it all off I had to wait an extra 20mins for my food that was supposed to be 30 mins and you would think it would be hott and fresh out of the oven for being 20 mins late. I might be biased because I grew up on Pete's Pizza (the location across from Waveland bowl on Western) but this place holds a special place in my pizza heart lol. It's just good traditional pizza! I tried the pan pizza once, not my favorite pan, I would say check out Pequiods for that but it was still pretty good. My favorite is just the traditional crust pizza from here. And their mozzarella sticks are something to seriously rave about. They are HUGE and full of cheesy wonder! Def recommend. They recently remodeled and expanded this location which was nice to see. It's a nice spot to bring a larger group now as there is plenty of space for everyone. Best pizza place in my opinion in Jefferson Park! read more

Received my food in about an hour. The pizza is good. However somehow the family pizza was messed up with cheese stuck to the box. I was really upset. The manager, did get another sent out. Hopefully this one is better than the last mess I received. If it is I will happily order again. read more

The pizza here isn't exceptional in any way. It's not bad, but there are a ton of places I'd rather order from, and Pete's is right down the street from my place. I've ordered from here several times, and almost every time they have screwed up some part of my order. While the prices are reasonable, I often find that I've paid for something I didn't order. The burgers here aren't bad, but their Italian beef tastes like a rubber insole. If you're an Italian joint with mediocre pizza and crummy beef, I don't see how I can give you more than two stars. read more

This weekend was the formal grand re-opening and the first time we'd went and sat down since the remodel. First, the interior is very nice. They did a great job with it. It's a more inviting place. Before it was very compact, which gave it an intimate vibe, but it's better now. I don't know that the menu changed too much, but of course it didn't need to. The biggest addition is the beer list and they did an excellent job with it: My wife got a Buckle Down Mirth. Buckle Down Brewery is in Lyons - we hadn't even heard of it before today - and Mirth is a Belgian singel, billed as a blonde, but tasting not unlike a Hefeweizen. It was very, very good. I got a Lake Effect Falcon Avenue IPA. Lake Effect Brewery is actually on Montrose, just east of Cicero, so only about a mile and a half away from Pete's - about as local as you can get. It was a solid IPA. We're not used to seeing this kind of selection in the neighborhood, let alone a quarter mile walk from the house, at a place we frequented as was. I am going to try to talk them into getting Daiya (non-dairy cheese) - that's the only way that I think they could improve upon what they've got going. read more

It hurts, really hurts, to drop my rating to two stars, but it is what it is. Our last several experiences with Pete's haven't been good. The delivery is still really fast and the drivers are always polite (which is why I'm still giving two stars) but the pizza has not been very good. Last time we ordered a pan pizza. When it arrived it was lukewarm. We only live 5 blocks away. The pizza did not sit well with us and we wound up throwing away 3/4 of it. The time before that we ordered our standard thin crust. Something wasn't right there either and we didn't enjoy it at all. Something has changed at Pete's and not for the better. I hope they fix it soon but I'm not sure when I'll be ordering from them again, if ever. read more

Pizza was great, service was great. They just rehabbed the entire restaurant and it looks really nice but it hasn't impacted the service or quality at all - if anything it got better. Before it was a really small homey Italian joint with 10 booths, now they can fit at least 100 people. I know they are just getting a liquor license so hopefully the selection grows. All in all, it's a great family place run by a wonderful family with great food. read more

Ah, Pete's. This is the pizzeria of my childhood, I grew up less than two blocks away. For that reason, Pete's is my yardstick for judging every other pizza I've ever had. This is not fair to the pizza-makers of the world. Very, very few have not left me dissapointed. How could they not? Forget Lou Malnati's, Giordano's, Gino's East etc. This is what Chicago-style "stuffed" pizza should be. It will leave you so stuffed that you either want to explode or go into a coma. If you can eat more than 2 slices - you should probably reconsider some life choices. read more

I had been craving thin crust pizza, but wanted a crispy crust and someplace local- and was disappointed with my past choices. Yelp lead me to Pete's and I was really happy to find they have ingredients I love on a pizza (zucchini, ricotta, roasted red peppers, artichokes) as well as a wide variety of crusts {a thin crust (also avail extra thin), thick crust, deep dish and stuffed pizza} Most importantly: they have friend cheddar cubes. They are my weakness. They also have a fried veggie basket with onion rings, mushrooms, zucchini and cauliflower. They were courteous on the phone, spoke clearly and got the order right. We ordered a thin crust with black olives, spinach, garlic and roasted red peppers. The spinach was fresh, the crust was crispy. It was ready in exactly 25min (for pickup). First and foremost... I'm very picky when it comes to pizza and I've become a big time fan of this place. I live along Montrose and had passed by this place for years and years just assuming it was some sort of branch off of Petes by Lane Tech. Its funny because one day I decided I wanted to switch up the weekly pizza night order and try something new... Pete's by Lane Tech had left me with good memories, so I figured i'll try Petes 2. After the first time I had their pizza I knew this wasn't the same as "Pete's" pizza, and did some research only to figure out it was unrelated. Since that time it has taken over as the dominant weekly pizza night spot. They have a "thicker" crust pizza that I just haven't seen anywhere else that is perfect to me. I'm not really into deep dish, nor am I into regular thin crust (only paper thin) all that much. So the "thicker" crust pizza they offer is great. My favorite topping is the roast beef. The delivery times are semi long at times but the pizza always arrives fresh. I've also heard that they have great sandwiches as well even though I've never been able to order anything but the pizza there... maybe one day. 5 stars... it was a great surprise and change of pace... I have passed by Pete's many times, but have never tried the Pizza. I gave that pizza a try today. I thought the pizza was very good. The crust was done just right. The sauce had an excellent flavor, I really liked it. The sausage was also very good. There were just the right amount of toppings on the pizza. The only minor complaint would be the little bit of grease on top of the pizza. It was present and can easily be dabbed off with a paper towel. The restaurant wasn't very crowded at the time I went there, but the phones were ringing off the hook with delivery orders. There were enough people working, that I was taken care of right-a-way. Third time, something less than a charm. Dawn and I both had Italian beef sandwiches and while she was nicer about it than I was, we both agreed that it was probably one of the least tasty beef sandwiches either of us had ever had. The beef was sliced much too thick, fatty, rubbery and mushy at the same time -- how did they DO that?? -- and fairly flavorless in spite of a garlic bread bun. I ended up throwing the beef out and eating hot giardinara on the garlic bread. So, the bottom line for Petes is: Order the pizza and pretty much get a sure thing. I've never in my entire life "craved" pizza. I spent the majority of my college years as a pizza maker, so I know a good pie when I meet one. Pete's is one good pie. I grew up at austin and irving.... My friend and I would get petes about once a week. I own a small business in the neighbor hood and still order from here weekly and have them supply us with food when I throw parties. In my opinion its the best deep dish in chicago. The tomatos and sauce is sweet and chunky , they dont skimp on the cheese and 2 slices and youre done with plenty of it left over for the day after. I love petes and will continue to go to them for my deep dish cravings for many years to come. read more
