Pete's Red Hot's ma old stompin grounds back in Da day when I lived out yonder in Oak Park is on da corner of Roosevelt & Ridgeland kiddie corner to dat big ole Turano's bakery. I was headin on Home afta da meetin tryin ta find me sum vittles as I shore was hongry. Pete's has been on this corner since 1980 serving fast food meal combinations for a decent price. I've eaten at Pete's many times before when I lived in Oak Park. I haven't been here for quite a few years so I was a bit surprised by the jump up in prices. I guess everyone needs to make money. I was just talkin to a buddy about their Grecian Chicken & it shore is good. You can get a 1/2 a Grecian Chicken meal for $9.99 that comes w/rice or fries (I chose the rice) a salad & a piece of French bread (probably from Turano's). Ummm ummm good that Grecian Chicken is delicious and the serving size is enough for 2 people. read more

I was so excited to try a Chicago dog from here that I Pete my pants. Sorry if TMI. As others have noted there is no celery salt on these Chicago dogs and the tomatoes aren't the freshest. Honestly I didn't think the dog was too great but I can see why people love the Gyro so much. It's not so much the quality of the Gyro as it is the size. It's a little bland although it is pretty good - but it is just so large. In the sense that there is so much meat on it - about twice as much as some of the other places. The meat is fresh and juicy so I have to give it credit for that. Prices are pretty decent. Overall just about a 4-star place. read more

This place was recommended to me by my best friend because he stated that Portillo's was overrated. I went to pick up two beefs extra dipped one with and one without cheese. I was not impressed and maybe it's because I forgot to order giardiniera on it or on the side to help with the flavor of the beef. But I'm kind of glad that I didn't order the giardiniera because according to my friend this place only has the hot giardiniera and that would have been to spicy for me. Boy when I say that shit was so fucking good! I got the Greek chicken and got my friend a beef. Y'all!!! I can't even explain how delicious my chicken was -perfectly seasoned and juicy. We had the Italian Beef and hot dog, Chicago style. Oh my!! Italian Beef was amazing! Do NOT plan to eat this in the car. Normally I don't eat the bun, but the juices soak into the bun - tasty! I know I may be too audacious to make this statement, yet I'm going to say it anyway. Pete's Italian beef sandwich with hot peppers is just as competitive to the one at Johnnie's. I know there's always a line at Johnnie's and seating is extremely limited, why wouldn't you try an alternative spot with an ample indoor seating and public restrooms? Pete's also takes visa, master, and discover cards. If you intend to enjoy your Italian beef sandwich on the road while driving, forget it! The only complaint (oh well, not a legitimate complaint at all) was that my Italian beef was beyond juicy! An order of fries would certainly be needed to soak up the extra au jus. Pete's service is speedy, friendly, and confusion-free. Instead of the crazy order numbers that you normally have to pay attention to, each order is called out with the exact contents. Their hot dogs are excellent, their Italian Beef Sandwiches are excellent, their gyros are excellent. They make a mean Greek Chicken dinner, too. Had heard great things about this place and finally decided to give it a try. Glad I did. Tried a combo so I could check out both the beef and the sausage. Sausage was loaded with flavor, a small.kick to it. Beef was good as well. Looks like they dipped the top of the sandwich, I'd have preferred it slightly drier, need to remember that next time. The service was executed quickly. These guys have been working together for quite some time. It's like a precision assembly line behind the counter. Although it was crowded, they get you in and out. I ordered the polish combo. When I opened the wrapper, I was pleasantly surprised. The food appeared exactly as it did on the poster. Ten points for presentation. The polish was delicious. If they're the same location in Broadview, IL I've been there several times. I heard about the Italian beefs from here on facebook. So 1 night I decided to check them out. I got the beef dipped xtra juicy, w/hot peppers. It was good and they give you alot. The 2nd & 3rd visit I got the ribeye steak sandwich w/lettuce & grilled onions. It was DELICIOUS!!!! The service is quick, and they're pretty nice. They need to tidy up the tables quickly after customers leave. I'll definitely be paying them lots of visits! read more

Pete's is a wonderful establishment. My usual order is a pizza puff, hot dog w/ fries and a cuppa cheese. The beefs here are fantastic, and gyros consistently good. Every time we come into town to visit from MInneapolis this is often our first stop. I've been going to Pete's since I was a kid and now I bring my own kids who are big pizza puff fans! Just tried the Greek chicken pita sandwich and WOW! Way better than expected! The pita was soft but crispy, the chicken was juicy perfection, we added cheese to the mayo, lettuce and tomato toppings and it worked perfectly! This is a great sandwich!!!! read more
