Patty Slaps is a fast casual spot. Walking in, we were greeted by a large, open space with communal tables the main production area towards the back. Ordering is done on kiosks up front - the menu is somewhat limited, but they have several types of burgers which are able to be customized to your liking. I didn't want to get too big of a burger, so I went with the Patty Jr. and customized some of the sauces. The burger itself was good, albeit I'm glad I got the junior size as it was a little too greasy for my liking - it had that glazed doughnut look. We also got some poutine to share which was good but not the best I've had in the city. Service was fast, and overall I enjoyed my meal at Patty Slaps. It's good for what it is, and I wouldn't be mad if circumstances found me here in the future.

After reading a few online blogs, we decided to try Crusty's for their burgers and sandwiches. They offer a fully halal menu. They were a bit out of the way from the main tourist sights in Montreal but we thought it was worth a shot. They ended up running out of burgers, so we ended up trying some of their other sandwiches. Overall, the portions and flavors were decent, and nothing too impressive. The ambiance was the highlight of the visit. The burgers seem to be the real selling point, so it may be worth revisiting.

I'm particular about my fries, preferring them to be on the crunchy side, but that's because I like texture with every bite. Compared to other fries I've had, these definitely past the test in pairing with the burgers. They also serve beers on draft, along with a ton of options that aren't the typical soda options. They seemed to be intentional with their options, which I appreciate. I'd say this place has a lot of potential of being the burger and late night spot in Verdun, given that they close at 10PM and have more options than just burgers and fries, but also a chicken sandwich, salad, different kinds of fries and poutine, along with different kinds of sweet drink options such as frappes, limonades, wine, and even cocktails! I'd say if there was a place of opportunity, without getting into the nitty gritty details that I typically care to comment on, I'd say it'd be the lighting. It's so bright, almost hospital like.
