Everything was so flavorful!! Exactly what you expect it to be. Price $ - the price point was pretty good for all the food we got. It doesn't break your wallet. Service 5/5 - they were so quick and kind. Ambience 4/5 - there's patio seating which is really nice and intimate or lively depending on the crowd. Pickles are yummy but customer service sucks and the food is alright but nothing special. I came on sunday with my mom after walking around Claremont and we got a burrito, a tamale and a fish taco. The tamale was really cold and I probably could've made the same burrito at home but the pickles were pretty good. The waiter took our order at the window and then went to go sit down a couple tables in front of us with his partner where they started making out. If this was on a break that would've been cool however it was during his shift and when my food was ready I had to go into the kitchen and pick it up myself. Also since it's outside and they're probably understaffed it's dirty and there will be tables sitting out with old food and flies. Oh no! It looks like there are new owners at Petiscos! Gone is the funky metal sign, replaced with a sign that lights up at night. More changes are the addition of 2 TVs and a faux axe throwing thingy. (I think that's what it is.) Nice additions to entice guests to stay longer. I don't know why--maybe they have a bar sometimes. I personally don't go there for the "stuff" but more for the outdoor vibe and good food. The stuff doesn't bother me. I only mention it because they're changes worth noticing. What made me revise my 5 star rating to j u s t a b o u t 3 is one change too many: the menu. Gone are the dishes I enjoyed most. Gone is the yummy fish selections, gone is enough Impossible meat tacos--no more Sorry We're Sold Outs, please! I'm pescatarian so Impossible is important if I'm not happy with the rest of the menu, which seems to be halibut all the time. What I liked were the variety of fish tacos not so-covered in batter that I couldn't find the fish or the shrimp. A play on Wendy's "Where's the beef," I wanna say, "WHERE'S THE FISH?" Cook said both were great but his description of the special made chorizo that would not be too greasy sold me on it. Took about 10 mins for fresh coffee and the burrito to be made so don't be in a rush. Burrito was huge. Had it for breakfast and lunch. Green salsa was mild so if you like spicy going to need your own. Overall it was delicious. No 5th star for me only because the potato chunks were too big. Horrible customer service at this restaurant! After I received my order and sat down, I went back to the window to ask for salsa and the employee said to me Me: can I have some salsa please? Him: for what!? Me:umm for my food Him: what did u order? Me:a sope Him:it already has salsa! Me:ok...but I want more salsa for my chips and sope Him: That's going to be extra! They could've told me nicely from the beginning instead of making an inappropriate scene. For example: "we do have salsa but it's an extra charge would you like to buy some?" Fresh, super crispy on the outside, melt in your mouth on the inside, with a tangy-spice slaw and sauce. So good! The Street Corn is a perennial fave for me. The other taco joints in the area are chain-y or bland. No, these are not street tacos, for that we tend to hit the folks on the corner of Foothill and Towne, but these are heftier and seriously delicious. This has been my go to place for breakfast burritos for about 3 years now. Today I went after a few months and was so disappointed. The horchata tasted like it was straight out of a packet. Their delicious spicy habanero salsa was gone! They now have tasteless salsas with zero spice or flavor. The breakfast burritos are missing the authentic Mexican flavor. The chorizo used to taste fresh with delicious seasoning and now it's just bland. The service was awful to top it off. The guy taking the orders was unfamiliar with the food or made zero effort to remember people or their orders. Salsas were empty and had to ask twice for them to be replenished. As I was leaving I found out that the old cook has left and it all made sense then. A bit pricey for $5 each (docked a star off for the prices) but man, I really liked the pickled cabbage on flavorful protein. Chase down with a Fanta, and it was a delicious lunch! Such a charming and cozy outdoor dining area - It basically felt like eating in your buddy's backyard with the rustic wooden picnic tables under an umbrella of colorful papel picado and string lights. I just went back to Petiscos this morning, after not having been there in a couple of years. I kept seeing on Yelp that it's closed every time I try to go, so I decided to cross-check with Google today. They had conflicting hours. I called, despite it being noted that they're closed today, and they're open! Both the hours listed on Yelp and Google are wrong; actually, the website is also wrong because it belongs to the old management. As of about a month ago, Petiscos changed ownership, so the hours are more consistent. The gentleman I spoke to (who I think is the new owner), told me they're only closed on Mondays; they open the other days at 8am, except Fridays at 7am. This morning, we ordered breakfast burritos, the veggie and the chicken machaca. They were MASSIVE and delicious! I find that a lot of breakfast burritos can be dry, but not these! I also ordered a champurrado to drink, and with this cold weather, that was just what I needed... and sooo good! Their new menu is more traditional Mexican than their old menu, which was more fusion trendy type of food. For those who are vegetarian, they have plenty of veggie options, and even carry impossible meat. read more
