The place is located in a really busy stripmall next to a few other really busy lunch joints, but this is the only reason I pull into this crazy plaza. I love their gyro sandwich plates. I had to realized this cozy warm place changed from excellent to bad. Food are awesome and delicious still. That was the good part now let's see the bad-side: First problem is the friendliness and customer service what went below zero. I order some food to go by phone. A young lady answered my call and immediately she told me to hold for a second. After few minutes she took my order rushing me. After I arrived to pick my food it was 2 customer front of me. They also had some issues. When it was my turn she told me to hold on because she need to do something. Again few minutes later she get back and the phone rings. She answered the phone and took a phone order instead put them on hold and helping me out first. First come first serve and not to mentioned that when I ordered my food I had to wait. I kindly asked her (the cashier) why she did that to me?! But she told me she's busy and I should tell what I want! This place turned to be a none friendly place with zero customer service. Ah yes... the place that really started my yelp addiction... We went here back in January because we were on our way to a pick up a cruise in Long Beach, and we were staying in a hotel across the street from this place. Having driven all day and not had nearly enough to drink, my stomach was a little queasy, but we still needed dinner. I wanted something very lean. Hummus! I love hummus! I pulled out the trusty iPhone and went to this site called yelp. I had heard about it, and meant to take a look at it before but never had. And lo and behold, across the street, I kid you not, one light over, was Petit Cafe. Score! Maybe there is something to this yelp thing. I'll have to use it more often. The food was pretty dern tasty too. I got the chicken kabob plate and asked for 2 portions of the hummus rather than the other side, and they were happy to accommodate me (and they are huge portions of hummus, my lord almighty!). It wasn't the best hummus I've ever had, in fact, I'm not even sure it was that good, but I think they must put crack in it or something because while both my guy and I agreed that it wasn't the best, we couldn't stop eating it. Extremely disappointed.. The gyro special on today was tragic and offensive to the Greek namesake.. To serve such dried out rubber is simply cruel. I've chewed on jerky that was less dried out then the gyro meat I had today.. If your going to have a special at least have a bit of pride. That aside the Greek salad was fine till you added the dressing that was completely overpowered with vinegar.. After cutting my mouth on the meat the first thing I obviously wanted was a ton of vinegar swimming through the open wound. The perfect place for masochists to chow down for the rest I suggest going to somewhere else. read more

Ok but not great. It's more Turkish than greek taste. I love Greek food but there is a flavor difference between Mediterranean and Greek. It all depends on the chef. Had better and worse so they are middle of the road. I stay close but never went back. Had the Gyro plate but was not impressed. I'd give it 2 1/2 stars at most. read more

Been a long time since the original review so time for an update, food is still good, prices have gone up, which is to be expected as I'm sure costs have risen too, still a decent lunch for a little more than average price, seating is still a problem for groups of more than 4 so not recommend for a large party. Eh....I wanted to like this place, especially with a severe lack of gyro places in the area, but I can't. The place is small, but nice and clean. Cholula on the tables gives you an idea of what you're in for. First thing I noticed when I walked through the door was the guy at the cash register staring blankly at me. It was a mix of sizing me up, seeing straight through me, and mentally picking his nose. No emotion, talked so quiet I had to ask him to repeat himself 3/4 of the time. No smile. I was honestly a bit creeped out by him. The food came fast, which was nice. Of course, I was literally the only person in the place. They cash register guy had to tell me twice because I had my eye on the tv and his low volume just couldn't compete with baseball scores. The food was alright. The salad was standard, but the vinaigrette was good and tangy. The rice seemed a tad under cooked and there was A LOT of it, like what the heck am I going to do with 4-6 cups of rice? I could start my own gyro business. I should have substituted potatoes, because I've had their potatoes before and they're pretty darn good. The tzatziki sauce was good, standard, can't go wrong there. There were a bunch of grilled onions on the rice bed, which were tasty. A bit too few for my taste, and no other veggies or anything along with the rice. The pita bread was too dry and had cracked in half, but luckily no more than that so I could still scoop up food with it. The thing that broke the meal for me was the gyro meat. It was dry, bland, and tough, which is very incorrect! It's supposed to be juicy coming right off the big hunk that slowly spins in the back. It's supposed to be full of meaty flavor and goodness. This stuff was honestly like some kind of old, crumbled beef jerky that was pressed together and called gyro. I hope it was just because I was the only person in there and it was at an awkward time in between lunch and dinner so there weren't enough people buying food and enough meat being carved so the top layer just kind of sat and dried out. i am a BiG fan of the mediterranean diet ! basmatti rice was cooked perfectly with a light butter flavor perfectly grilled chicken kabob w/ tomato, pepper, onion greek salad (it was really fresh, romaine, cucumber, red onion, peppercini, red olive, oil & vinegar dressing with herbs) what really stood out was a creamy scoop of a creamy feta- like goat cheese on the side wheat pita w/garlic sauce *ice tea well it was all $9.99 and i luv their baklava (totally homemade) it's drenched in a very light simple syrup & chopped pistachio on top - not heavy @ all and it's like $1.50 their breakfast also looks awesome ( a guy friend told me they have the best breakfast burrito. i looked @ the menu & it's loaded w. every meat possible! * i guess Shaq and many of the Lakers have eaten here (including Phil Jackson) because there are autographed pictures of them all dining here... read more

It really is just OK. It's a walk-to-the-counter-and-place-your-order - then-walk-to-the-counter-and-pick-up-your-order kind of place. That's all fine... with the menu plastered on the wall. I was a little disappointed - the falafel was definitely NOT from scratch: tastes just liked the boxed kind I've made at home. That said, at least it wasn't dry and crumbly, but a good texture. The salad was pretty good, and a nice size - maybe jazz up the vinaigrette though? This place is TINY - just be warned before you go. The fact that their table are all high with the illusion, though, of not being too cramped - so well done on that. Good texture on the falafel - salad not bad - high tables - This is why the 3 stars. Otherwise, really, just "meh." I was also a bit surprised at some of the things offered on the menu: cheesesteak -really? Fried chicken? Yeah. And it goes on. Food = good and fresh Portions = on the small side considering their price. One little gyro sandwich is around $7. Parking = ok Service = fast, of course Ambience = i can see why ppl say this place is claustrophobia inducing. They have tons of customers w/ hardly any space to eat or order. I'm studying for the bar this summer, and BarBri class is at the Hacienda Hotel, right across from this little plaza that caters to the El Segundo office crowd at lunchtime, so prepare for a few more of these reviews of overpriced mediocre food as the summer progresses. Petit Cafe's Mediterranean fare was better than Daphne's (that's not saying much, I would have to note), but a bit more greasy than I wanted. I had the chicken gyro pita wrap, which was satisfactory and had a lot of meatiness inside, but otherwise it wasn't particularly memorable. I've been here a couple of times know and I really do enjoy their gyro wraps! Portions are great but it is a little bit pricier than what I would ideally like to pay. The lamb gyro is delicious. The meat is juicy and succulent and perfectly seasoned. With that said, I would give this place more stars if they had better service and good manners. I placed a phone order and my order-taker totally rushed me off of the phone. I was barely able to get my order out! When I got there to pick up my food, after I paid, the guy at the cash register didn't bother to say thank you which is totally unacceptable. The food here is just disgusting. Although the place seems nice and chill, the food is just drenching in oil. I've come here in the past with the same experience, but thought that I should try to order something else. After a few bites of a gyro wrap, I almost felt sick and can no longer finish it as globs of oil was dripping out of the pita wrap, which has also fallen apart from the saturated oil. After feeling disgusted and hands full of oil, the place has no restroom where you can wash your hands. The guy at the front register just gives you this bland "deer in headlights" (aka "IDGAF") stare. If this place was cheap, I'd probably turn a blind eye. This place has gone downhill over the years. Have been frequenting this place since the early 2000s. This used to be the best place to eat in the area especially for the young professionals at nearby businesses on Sepulveda. The owner used to be very pleasant and ensured that your experience was good and food was nothing less than perfect. The last few times I have come here over the last year I never see the owner, the staff here kinda rush your food and it just doesnt seem as tasty as it once was. I havent given up on this place just yet but hope the owner can get it back up to what it used to be. Now normally I'm not a fan of Mediterranean food, but I do love me a delicious gyro pita, and a delicious gyro pita Petit Café has! Petit Café is a little fast-casual restaurant in a small strip mall of other independent fast-casual restaurants (except Subway). It's tempting to go visit everything else that is around (Smarco's, Express, Mega Wraps, WikiWiki, Chile Verde, SanSai, etc), so choose wisely. I chose Petit because I just had to try the gyro pita here. In a nutshell, the gyro pita is quite pricey, like sit-down restaurant pricey. Is it worth it? That is a question you must ask yourself after you have tried it. The pita itself is quite sizable, but still cannot hold everything inside it. From the tomato chunks to the onions to the lamb meat, there is enough in here to fill two of their already huge pitas. As for taste, they do not skimp. How I would love to just have a pita with the lamb meat and nothing else. You can actually see the lamb on the roast spit behind the counter as it cooks! Although... I could do without all the oil in the meat. Hold the pita up long enough, and oil will slowly drip out of the pita. Also, I love falafels by themselves, but I couldn't get an order of just falafels. I could only order it with all the other stuff, which I did not want. Well, looks like I'll have to stick with the Yalla Truck if I want my falafel fix. read more

I just have to go here every time I work overtime. I am a fan of the Gryos here. I started off with the lamb but right now I am on the chicken. Either way you can not go wrong. Yummy Gyros. I always get their Chicken Gyro Sandwich, easy on the onions (they're raw, but you can ask them to grill it), and sauce on the side. When I take it to go, the sauce usually sinks to the bottom, so I got in a habit of ordering it on the side when I eat in, too. Their fries are very very good (thick w/ seasoned salt) and the portion is very generous. I've tried both gyros, but the chicken is my favorite. has strips of their chicken gyro, lettuce, tomato, onions and their honey mustard sauce. They have walls full of photos of famous people that frequent, but regardless, its a great place to eat!! I totally agree with Ryan J. We came here last night to grab dinner. Our friend suggested this place out to us. We were totally disappointed. Maybe it was because we had expected it to be so great? Maybe because, considering it is a hole in the wall mediterraean place in a small little plaza, we thought we wouldn't get over-charged? Or, maybe because we thought it would actually be savory? Seriously, they gave soooo little food and the best thing in our gyro plate was the romaine lettuce in the salad. The feta cheese IS like cream cheese.. and not feta. The gyro was dry and overcooked. The pita wasn't even fresh. It was hard and dry and came out of a bag. We also ordered the chicken kabob and it was so small and tiny with TONS of basmati rice to "make up" for the lack of meat. Also, the garlic cream sauce that came with it was made VERY poorly. It was waaaay too garlicky. It didn't have the right consistency either. Probably won't be back unless I feel like paying $15 for little to no food. Which... probably won't be happening. I like getting what I pay for. P.S. I love the Lakers (apparently they all go here a lot) but I don't know if they value their $ if they constantly overpay for not so great food (see pics of them on their wall). read more

The service is always quick and the staff are friendly. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. You also might run into some of L.A Lakers. They train right down the street. Eaten here a few times and each time the food and service has been great. When I ate here on the weekend, one else was in the dinning room. It seemed like a very small hole in the wall place and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food which seemed all home made. I especially enjoyed the home fries. On my next trip here, I went during lunch time and our small group was lucky enough to get seating as the small restaurant was very busy. I was happy to see the place packed during the midweek day lunch hour. Not the most amazing Gyro I've ever had, but the food is tasty, good quality and portions.
