Avoid this place at all costs. The moment I walked through the door, I was hit with a strong rotten egg smell. My immediate reaction was that something wasn't right, and it made me wonder whether old or spoiled food was sitting somewhere instead of being thrown out. Looking back, I should have trusted my instincts and walked right back out. The only reason I stayed was because there were other customers eating inside, so I convinced myself, "Maybe it's just me." I ordered a fried chicken sandwich to go. The fries were the best part of the meal, but they were nothing special--about what I'd expect from frozen Costco fries. Even my drink was disappointing. My Dr Pepper had gone completely flat within about 30 minutes. The sandwich itself was awful. The chicken was supposed to be fried, but instead of being crispy it was soggy and limp. The lettuce looked old, with slightly browned edges and no freshness whatsoever. It was one of the worst chicken sandwiches I've ever had. About 30 minutes after eating, I developed severe diarrhea and spent the rest of the afternoon running to the bathroom seven times. While I can't say with certainty what caused it, the timing made me strongly suspect the meal. Between the terrible smell when I entered, the disappointing food quality, and what happened afterward, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. I won't be giving Chicken Confidential another chance. If I could leave -5 stars, I absolutely would. read more

We have been going to this place every Saturday for lunch after my son's hockey practice for the past 1-2 years. It's excellent! Menu is very diverse - they have grilled chicken and also fried chicken items. I usually get either the grilled pesto chicken sandwich or a fried buffalo chicken sandwich. Both are delicious. Also, the portions are great - they really give a lot of chicken. My son often gets the grilled chicken platter, a sandwich, or more recently crispy tacos - and he really likes them. Plus, the staff always is so friendly to us - as I think they recognize that we come every weekend. I would definitely recommend this place! Some of the reviews have questioned the quality of the food but I have to say that in the 1-2 years we have been going, we have never had a bad meal. read more

I walked in not knowing much about this place. I just wanted some chicken tenders so I got the 3-piece meal. There was only one other customer in there so it was a bit confusing that it took 15 minutes for my food to come out. The tenders came out dark brown, which was sort of worrying, but when I sunk my teeth in it got so much worse. The "crust" of the chicken was extremely grainy, it felt like a mouthful of sand. It definitely tasted like it was left way too long in a fryer full of dirty oil. Not much flavor in the chicken except for what was imparted by the unpleasant overcooked exterior. The 2 minuscule cups of ranch dressing that were provided did little to improve the taste. The curly fries tasted appropriate, but also like they'd been sitting out for 20 minutes, not fresh. The slaw was fine. It's pretty hard for me to comprehend how a place can fumble chicken tenders this badly. especially if this is supposed to be their specialty. We finally tried this restaurant and am glad we did ! The menu looks great but did not want to over-order. Our server was sweet and delightful answering any questions we had, while the restaurant was immaculate. Wifey and I split the Buffalo Ranch chicken sandwich and the Nashville Nuggets. The sandwich was so satisfying having just the right amount of spicy combined with a seasoned and crispy batter enveloping a quite large, tender cutlet of chicken !! Our nuggets were also delicious, as they were dusted with a medium heat, dry rub, that carried a southern vibe to it. Overall, we will certainly be returning to try more menu options. read more

Was excited to try based on the reviews and it's close to home, but wow this was some of the worst food I've been served. You'd be better off getting fast food. Zero stars. This place clearly paid for their 4-5 star reviews as there is no way they earned a single one. Absolutely disgusting food. I'm a huge fried chicken guy and normally enjoy most of the places I've tried. First, they got our order wrong. Ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich, bbq chicken salad, tenders snd some fries. Never got the buffalo sandwich. Ended up with some nasty dry bbq chicken sandwich with onion rings on it. Couldn't eat it. Tasted burnt and dry. See the photo for what we got for our bbq chicken salad. What a joke. Looks like a f@&king dog played with it. The kids wouldn't finish the tenders after one bite, and that's saying a lot - never happened before at any restaurant. If this place had any integrity, they'd contact me to do a refund immediately, but I don't assume a place that generatrs fake reviews and uses fake photos to do the right thing. With any chicken place I go, I always wonder if it'll be a hit or miss, and this place was a hit. My friends and I ordered quite a bit of food and it was a delight. We stopped by during the early lunch hours, so there weren't too many people ordering food yet. Of course, we ordered some wings, and a chicken taco, along with some onion rings and fries. We were surprised with how quick everything came out! There are a few tables indoors and some seating outside. The chicken wings were delicious, they were juicy and were well coated with sauce. The sauce was very well balanced, it wasn't too spicy and just had enough kick to it (we got the spicy). I was also told that the hot sauce they had was a homemade hot sauce, which was a surprise. The hot sauce was delicious and paired will with some extra flavor for the wings and the tacos. The chicken tacos were also pretty good, but just not as well liked as the wings we got. Located in the center with 5 Guys, the entrance to this place is towards to back. Fairly simple menu, chicken items as the name would indicate. A bit pricey as most things are these days. Breaded and deep fried (is my guess) chicken sandwich, fries and a drink...$18. Flavor was good, the fries were a bit salty but hey, who doesn't like salt? Fountain drinks for refills, coffee is also self-serve if you want a hot cup to go. Parking is a bit tight as there is a business park right behind it that charges for parking (no charge in the restaurant parking lot) so some visitors of that complex park here and walk over. If you're tired of the hot chicken trend and want just chicken that won't burn your taste buds off into ashes, I suggest this place. Location: On PCH in the same lot as The Kebab Shop and Five Guys in front of The Open building. Between Grand Ave and E Mariposa Avenue. Food: New place that just opened up a few months ago and with a culinary trained chef with decades of chefs in the family, you know your chicken will be done right. I got the crispy chicken sandwich (no pickles) and the onion rings. Really, really good crunchy, crispy chicken that's not dry on a brioche bun. Perfect really, but there was no hot sauce available which I think would have made it even better. The onion rings were the best I've had in a long time. Real onions fried to crunchy perfection in a batter that had the perfect amount of salt and pepper to it took me back to my elementary school days with the original owner of Steve's in Torrance onion rings. I also got the chicken pesto sandwich on a buttered sourdough bread. Good stuff, but I would prefer more pesto, but that's just me. Summary: One of the best non-chain chicken shops in the area. Chicken was juicy and crunchy. The bread didn't fall apart. Service was friendly and helpful on both visits. Any of the sandwiches can be made into a combo, They do have salads,chicken strips and wings too. The food was high quality and the portions were insanely large. I ordered the buffalo sandwich and it was probably the biggest sandwich I've ever gotten! My son got the chicken fingers and each finger was the size of a small chicken breast. Great quality and would return. The only complaint I have is the ranch sauce was hard to come by. The gal at the counter said ranch was available at the serving station but it wasn't. There were other red sauces in bottles but no ranch. First thing is I like the name of this cafe, makes it sound intriguing and being near the famous LAX airport in El Segundo has an aura of a place people would meet in a mystery thriller. It is kind of tucked away in the back of the shopping center on PCH. The restaurant is very clean, the only minor negative is the seating area is small but there is a nice outdoor courtyard to sit in front. I had the grilled chicken bowl which I enjoyed and the tator tots were excellent, both large portions for the reasonable price = great value. We were having fried chicken cravings so we popped over to this newly opened Chicken Confidential for lunch. Ordered at the counter. Friendly cashier. Nice yet simple menu, with their selection of plates, bowls, salads and sandwiches, there is definitely something for everyone. The wait for food wasn't long, but I had a chance to check out the restaurant. Very clean, limited indoor and outdoor seating. Sodas, water, lemonades and teas all available at the self serve station in the dining area. The fried chicken sandwich differs from a lot of traditional chicken spots. The breading is light and crunchy and the sandwich was fully loaded with sautéed chopped onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and their special sauce on it. Pretty good sandwich. Fried chicken tenders were also lightly breaded, with a sprinkle of smoky paprika over it. Tender and juicy on the inside, crispy out. It came with carrot & cucumber slices & ranch dressing, as well as a piece of fried Parmesan toast. Very good. Our favorite dish of the day were the wings. Disclaimer: I had only the food I had and cannot comment on anything else. I ordered the 6pc wing combo with habanero buffalo (16 dollars at time of review). It comes with a 6 wings cooked and then tossed in sauce, cucumber and carrot sticks, fries, a drink, ketchup, and garlic ranch dressing. They were presented on a nice tray, though I do not have much standards for presentation. Food: The wings were cooked nicely and still moist. Fries were good, well salted. I tried the strawberry lemonade as well as the cucumber lemonade. Lemonade is a bit on the watery side for my tastes. Strawberry lemonade has no pulp, so likely not made with strawberry puree. Now I felt the strawberry flavor was a bit weak, but the cucumber flavor was strong. Strong is a word that applies to the sauces here. The garlic ranch had strong garlic flavor and was absolutely delightful. The habanero is too strong for me. In habanero fashion it also lingers pretty long, so avoid touching your face. I think that it also needs more buffalo sauce to dilute the habanero taste. (I also tried the basic buffalo, and it was nice and tangy). Respectable food. Ambiance: The place is nice, feeling like Tender Greens, Lemonade, or Bruxie. It was clean, but a bit small. Only 4 tables inside. They play pop music over the speakers. Service: You go up to the cashier to order and sit down. Cashier was nice enough. Not much to say here. They didn't stop by the table to check in, if you were expecting something like that. I guess the only qualm is that they don't have wet naps and only 1 bathroom. Cleaning your hands may be a pain if it gets busy. All in all, while I think it's 3 stars based on my sole experience, I think that it would be unfair due to my choice of order. Update March 7, 2024: Disclaimer: Meal received for free. This time around I received their specialty grilled chicken sandwich. Their chicken is cooked, juicy and tender. The bun is soft and buttery, and the lettuce and tomato adds a crunch to the sandwich. There are a few issues as a result of being marinated chicken. First, the overall wetness of the chicken diminishes the crunch factor and makes the sandwich fall apart easily. Second (and this could be on purpose), the chicken being chicken, it doesn't have much inherent flavor by itself. This is fine since the sandwich flavors melds well together, but this means that chicken isn't standing out as much as it could. Other notes: Cucumber lemonade has a better balance, fries does taste clean of lingering flavors (from the owner's response about cleaning the fryers), and wet naps are available. The cashier was polite and checked in during the meal. The owner seems accommodating and passionate about the restaurant. All in all, this restaurant deserves 4 stars. read more

The sandwich was built messily however, had to handle it as it fell apart in my hands. They're tenders inside. Sauce is a decent buffalo, solid ranch. Onion rings are prepared fresh , told they're not frozen. Also panko breaded, crunchier than the usual. Many different lemonades, made myself a nice mango Arnold Palmer. Chicken Confidential is one of my go-to spots in El Segundo. I've had just about everything on the menu and have never had a meal I didn't really enjoy. The chicken sandwich is legit, and all of the salads are super fresh and full of flavor. The staff is always friendly, and the food comes out fast and delicious every time. Whether it's a quick midday work lunch or a solid post-gym meal to hit my macros, this place always delivers. It only took me six months to finally come visit this place. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and let me tell you.... Chicken Confidential over Chick-fil-A. The chicken was very moist, the spiciness was perfectly the way I like it, and the fries were good too. The quality buns, grilled onions and the sauce really help put it together. For $5 more you can get yourself a very high-quality sandwich. The service was great and the restaurant environment was well put together.
