Wow!, where did this place come from in the middle of nowhere? We stopped on our way to the coast looking for a quick bite and not expecting anything great, but what we found was a masterpiece that we wished we had near our home town. Everything we ordered including the kids meals were melt in your mouth, bring a tear to your eye greatness! The flavors were out of this world and all fresh, from the fresh baked bread to the ingredients used. I had the open faced pork tenderloin sandwich which provided so many wonderful flavors in each bite that I am still dreaming about it a week later. Same thing with the tuna melt that my wife had and the pasta dish that my kids shared. Last, the deserts are to die for! all fresh made and again filled with a variety of flavors to keep you guessing and a smile firmly on your face! I thought the food and service was just so-so, but I will be back someday to give them another chance. I ordered the hash, and it was dry. The crescent roll was VERY greasy, but flavorful. The waitress was a little 'rough around the edges' (impatient, loud and almost annoying). When I overheard her being rude to another customer (without justification), that confirmed my perceptions. Found this place on Yelp and we stopped in for lunch. I had the farmers salad with a cup of the roasted red pepper soup. Both were great. The soup was like a bisque with a kick and the salad wasn't over dressed with dressing. The pear was delicious on the salad . Presentation was nice as well. Next time I shall try the blt that comes with a fried egg and avocado on it! Sounds yummy. read more

I have been here several times and to other locations in Portland, but the service here is just not up to snuff. I went in around quarter to 3pm today and there was just one other table. I sat down and waited, I could hear people talking in the back. After about 7 minutes, one came out and then was chatting with the other table. Another worker brought me water and a menu but then went on about some business. I realized they close at 3, and so when she finally moseyed over to me, she offered to make me something to go. I was astonished. First, they are officially open until 3, so they can't close their doors before then, and anyone who is in before that should be taken care of as a paying customer, but I guess their priority was more on closing up and getting customers out. Really disappointed, and not sure I would go again now, my opinion is changed. read more

We had brunch here in late July 2010. The place is very bright and pretty and looks like a real little place you'd find in France. We had omelettes with artichoke and they were very good. The bread was very good, too. The service is very friendly. All in all, what a nice little place--definitely recommend this. read more

The wife and I decided to try something new for our Black Friday breakfast. I had the Meurette Benedict and wish I had ordered the regular eggs benedict. There was a purple reduction sauce that was less than inspiring. It was rather distracting and made the potatoes and squash the stars of the plate. Only order this if you are into tart flavors on your mushroom, onions, bacon and eggs. The wife had the warm berry crepes. What a let down. Crepes were okay but the blueberries weren't ripe at all. I am so happy this place is in The Dalles! You can go in and get a pastry and coffee to go, or stay for a wonderful meal. The breakfast and lunch are equally amazing. Omelette are huge, coffee is delicious and berry French toast amazing. You must try one of their croissants with homemade raspberry jam. We usually order the special at lunch which has never disappointed. The beet salad is one of my favorites. Service can sometimes be lacking. They seem to be understaffed. read more

We do rarely visit because it's small and usually pretty busy but when we do the food has never disappointed. The only fail I can say is some of the service I and a couple others have received from the "manager". the ONLY time I want to go is when PATTY is working. You walk into a calming beautiful place, friendly staff, a menu that is like a novel, you can't put it down till you have read everything...menu different then other places. My corn beef hash freshly cooked, two eggs, and a large croissant that is Devine. My husband had the three egg omelette, with spinach, bacon, tomatoe, feta cheese, with chunk potatoes and chuck squash that was a surprise and very good. We give this place a 5 star as it was wonderful, and if you have room their is a glass case of wonderful desserts. I generally think the gorge starts and ends with Hood River. Not now. This place is a gem. A pretty and inviting interior. The Northwest Wild Salmon Hash is featured for a reason. A big-time flavor pay-off. Like a good hamburger, when kitchens get hash browns right, they care. Highly recommended. My wife enjoyed the Chicken Med salad, but she agreed the hash was even better. I have to mark them down since being sold over-proofed pastries at full price. They were absolutely inedible. When I called to complain, the manager told me she knew they were over-proofed and not up to their usual quality. I asked her why she was selling them for full price then? She had no credible response. This is very disappointing as I have come to rely on their excellent quality pastries and bread for 10 years, but this experience has ended my patronage of Petite Provence. read more

Make sure you fill in the tip section of your credit card receipt. I left it blank after just getting some muffins to go thinking it did not warrant a tip for placing them in a paper bag and a bill under $10. First off the staff is great. They really make you feel welcome. We stopped off two separate times for breakfast. Once on our way to a 3 day wedding in Condon and on our way home. Our waitress went out of her way to make a party of 6 happy. Coffee and pastries were flying to and fro. My bff had the salmon hash and I had the double meat omlette with butternut squash. Great decor...but, it's very noisy all the time. No vegan options but they gladly will alter menu items for customers. The food is tasty, but even eating special orders, my stomach gets very upset after eating there, and that's very rare for me. Beautiful pastry items that look better than they taste.
