Food: first time disappointed with the food here. Ordered two different style of Hefty Henry Sandwiches. One was to come with tomatoes, one not. Ask specifically at least three times that we wanted tomatoe slices on both sandwiches. Neither had tomatoes. More on this under service. Both, regular customer eaters, said "something is missing" as the sandwiches tasted "tastsless" from the past. The lettuce, mayo mixture seemed to have no mayo and no flavor. Positive: the fries were excellent and so was the lemonaid. Serivce: NONE Asked for a couple slices of tomato and was told I could only get that if I paid for a side dish! I was too blown away to even argue. If the server, with a bad attitude, could not spare two slices of tomato (even if I was wrong) to keep a life long customer (50 years) and a good review, then something is seriously going wrong with this business. No one ever came by our table and asked if we needed anything, boxes, drink refills, nothing. NO SERVICE Ambiance: everything we expected and we are pleased with it. read more

Have some arcade games and a big fireplace in the middle. Order at the counter. For alcohol they give to you at a different counter, but for dine-in food they bring to your table. Busy on a Saturday but no trouble finding a small table. Menu is pizza, beer, and burgers. Has a decent beer selection, along with sodas and other beverages. Got their Hefty Henry sandwich and a mango pineapple cider. The cider was crisp and sweet without being too sweet. The sandwich was pretty hefty. It's toasted ham and cheese sandwich with lettuce, served with a generous portion of crinkle fries and a slice of pickle. The roll was toasted and a light crisp on the outside. Melted cheese over ham is a good combo. Was definitely full. Total was $20ish which is not expensive at all these days. read more

I was visiting family and we were looking for a family friendly restaurant for dinner. I hadn't been to Spooky's since I was a kid, so I was a bit leery of how good it would be, but we decided to give it a shot. It was a Saturday evening and accordingly it was busy, however they were kind and allowed us to sit in an unoccupied banquet room. You place your order and pay at the counter, after which they deliver the food to your table. We waited for probably 15-20 minutes for our food, which given how busy they are was completely reasonable. What was awkward was that they brought out food as it was ready, so we received the sandwiches and had to wait on the pizza. It was probably 5 minutes between food arriving. I would have preferred that they bring it all together. All of the food arrived hot and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their respective entrees. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries and also tried the crust from the Santorini pie. My chicken sandwich was hearty and the chicken was perfectly cooked. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The crust of the pizza was really good too, it had a nice chew and crisp to it. This is a great spot for families, but be prepared as it is very loud. read more

We have driven by this place several times on our trips to the Oregon Coast and we finally stopped. This place is a hidden gem, and is like walking into a time capsule. This place has an arcade, several beers on tap, and an extensive menu. Service is counter style ordering where you receive a table marker and then a friendly person brings you your food. This joint feels like a modern, lively restaurant but maintains its quirky charm. My only complaint is that the dough is not fresh made but the ingredients were flavorful and plentiful. read more

Spooky's is the kind of place that earns its reputation without trying too hard. The menu is simple. The food is sharp. The pizza arrives crisp on the bottom, hot through the center, & balanced without being stingy. Whoever is working the oven understands restraint & timing. The veggies were roasted just to tender. The crust had integrity. Nothing felt like filler. Even the cheese knew when to stop. Service is present without hovering. The space is clean & dated in the way that says they put their money into the kitchen instead of the decor. Good choice. If you want trendy, keep driving. Stopped here on the way to oromdo, WA. Had a quick burger... the mushroom, bacon, and cheese kind. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the burger was actually quite good. I wasn't a fan of how the bun arrived covered in some kind of oil, but after blotting it away with a few napkins I had no more complaints. The fries were hot and crispy. The service was spot on. I had an image in my mind of what Spooky's would be like, and it was exactly as I had envisioned. Came here for dinner and really enjoyed it. The building is super neat with a retro vibe, with vaulted ceilings, a sunken space, and lots of nooks and crannies. You order at the counter - we got a couple beers and a large pizza with a few toppings. Staff were super friendly. We got a number and found a large table. Meanwhile, the kids were running like feral animals around the building playing all of the arcade games. Our pizza arrived and it was great - super cheesy and flavorful. We had one piece left over and I was impressed that Spooky's had not only to-go boxes, but also a huge wooden box that contained massive sheets of tinfoil - they truly have thought of everything. I wish we knew the history on the building, and we're also stumped by the strange logo. But we'd definitely eat here again. read more

Ambiance was really nice and tastefully done. Service at the counter was warm and friendly. Delivery of pizza server was very cold shouldered though. There was plenty of staff to handle everything. Watching interactions between staff and other customers was great. I ordered the 15" Taco pizza and 6 ct of bread sticks. The food was good. Breadsticks were very soft, warm, and good tasting. Pizza was good. I thought that there were too many tortilla strips that buried the pizza though. That would be my only food complaint. I would definitely recommend to others. read more

For years I'd drive through the Dalles and catch eye of a billboard displaying a very peculiar mascot and telling myself I've gotta drop in one day. So on a recent trip when my stomach began to rumble 15 minutes outside the city, I took advantage of this great opportunity and called in an order. The menu is enormous! Not only is it full of specially crafted pizzas but they got sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups and appetizers. As great as it all sounded I felt it would be shame to try anything other than the pizza as a first time customer. The first one on the menu really caught my attention. The Hot Honey Pie (Mama Lils sweethot peppers, hard salami, italian sausage, feta cheese, drizzled with honey, $27.75) was absolutely astounding. Ready as soon as I got there, the toppings were piled generously throughout the pie. The peppers were unique themselves. I would have never thought feta would be such an excellent addition on a pizza. And there was just enough honey drizzle you could taste it and it was a great contrast to the hot peppers. A super distinctive, delicious taste I'm sure you won't just find anywhere. 10/10 for service, quality and execution! read more

Ok, we're happily child free liberal yuppies so we were pretty skeptical of this family-oriented business under a huge Trump billboard. However I didn't want to drag my vegetarian teetotaling husband to a brew pub. So. Fast friendly service. Like really fast, which is great when you're on a long drive and don't want to linger. But. It was the crispy this crust that really sold us. Did I mention we're crust snobs? And a really generous pour of the house red, which is great when it's been a long day and you're not the DD. We showed up 15 minutes to closing, fully expecting to either get the stink eye or flat out turned away... NO WAY! The gal at the counter was friendly, helpful, and reassuring that we were not bothering anybody by ordering late and eating in. EVERYONE we encountered was friendly and acted as if it was the middle of shift and everything was normal. Clearly the owner/manager has the expectation and training in place that although the doors say we close at 8:00, we are fully engaged until the last table leaves. HOW REFRESHING!!! Been to Spooky's several times and it has become one of our favorites because no matter what we've ordered, pizza, baked ziti, clam chowder, tomato basil, salads, the food is tasty, visually appealing, priced right (in today's world) and just plain good! There have not ever been any negative surprises or disappointments. No matter how busy they are, the place is large enough to find a parking space and a table. Not open on Sunday or Monday (bummer) but learned to work around it. Try it - you'll like it! read more

Such a favorite for years! Whenever we are in the area, this is the stop for pizza at Spooky's. This visit we were able to sit next to the fire, so cozy! The pizza earned the 4 star but the customer service took it all the way to 5! I came into town late, right before close and gave them a call knowing it would be too late. To my surprise they graciously took my order and told me how to pick it up since it would be after they shut the doors. Might as well go buy a frozen pizza from the grocery store as that would be 1000x better than this. Absolutely horrible, and took forever. The rubbery dough, to the cheap toppings made this one of the worst pizza experiences I've had.
