    Inedible lamb skewer meat
    Austin S.

The chicken skewers are great, everything else is borderline terrible. If you want the greasiest fattest Greek food you've ever seen, this is for you. Even the pita bread was grilled with oil on it. The lamb was absolutely edible as you can see. They refused to replace it with anything else. Management was no help. The hummus was dry and crumbly on top. Mediocre proportion size. You would think there was a shortage of tzatziki. As good as the chicken skewer meat was, they have to do better everywhere else including management helping customers resolve poor quality food issues.

Gyro fries with added onions and jalapenos

Petra Greek is located inside the Golden 1 Center, 2nd floor, I think by section 208. They also have two other locations in Sacramento that I hope to try one day. Normally when I order fries at ANY stadium I can never finish them all, even garlic fried. Not because I'm full but after a while it's just not as good. This was my second time ordering gyro fries and the second time that I scarf down the whole thing. I love crispy fries and these are crisp. If you are more of a steak fries kind of person, this may not be for you. I like to add some onions (yes, more onions on top of the ones that it comes with) and jalapeno ... it's delicious! The only thing that I wish is that it was warmer. I don't think the heat lamp that they use is high enough. But other than that, this is definitely my go-to snack for a game.

Lamb & beef gyro $10 (no need to order a side of fries!)

After reading recent 1 star reviews and looking at sad food pics, I had to see for myself what happened to Petra Greek since my first visit when G1C opened in 2016. I gave them a fairly glowing review amongst the food choices at the arena. Last night (3/3/20) I ordered the lamb & beef gyro (same as I had previous visit) before the 7pm game started. I was the only customer around. So service was friendly and quick. Happy to say the $10 gyro remains one of the best values for portion, taste, and quality! My friends ordered a burger and fries ($15) from the concession stand and chicken nachos ($15) from El Centro. My friend said the burger was not good, dry, and a small portion. The nachos were loaded and my friend had no complaints. But let me tell you about that gyro...it was filled with warm, tender, and seasoned pieces of beef and lamb, crispy fries, a couple slices of tomato and red onion, and a smidge of tzatziki sauce spread on the warm, thick and fluffy pita bread. I was offered more tzatziki sauce on the side, without having to ask. It comes served over more skinny fries, which unfortunately made those fries soggy but still edible. Not knowing how much food it was, we both got our own gyros and were completely full and satisfied. We even had leftovers. Easily shareable if they keep the portion consistent. Petra Greek is a winner!

There was a couple taking a little bit of extra time to order, so I was called to the counter By Gemma. She is definitely an asset to that restaurant. She was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, personable, throughout my meal, we chatted a little bit, as she came by my table every now and then to make sure everything was OK. You order, they give you a number, and then they bring your food to the table. The menu was large, with appetizers, burgers, gyro,, salads, and desserts. I decided to start with the dip trio. I asked Gemma if it was a large serving, , and she said "not really" . *SPOILER ALERT* it was.... The Baba ganoush had a wonderful. Roasted flavor and you could definitely taste the eggplant, that tzaziki had a wonderful "Tang" to it, which kept it from being too rich, and the hummus was creamy, and delicious. Nothing overwhelmed each other. There was a bit of red pepper on top of the hummus that gave it a tiny kick. There was a generous amount of pita to go with it. I loved the olives. They had a nice briny flavor to them. I normally don't care for green olives, but these were amazing. For my main course, I ordered the chicken pita bowl. Chicken Gyro meat, arugula, lettuce, red onion, tomatoes, tzatziki, and I had a choice of regular or spicy aïoli. Again, I asked her how spicy the spicy aioli was, and she said it was a bit spicy. I decided to try the spicy aïoli, and she offered to put it on the side. That was also very nice I had a choice of Greek fries or rice, and I chose to have half-and-half. The fries were more like small wedges, and they were tender and well seasoned. The rice was just your average white rice, but it did have a very good texture The chicken was tender and flavorful, and again, everything played very well with each other. The spicy aïoli was about halfway up the scale of what I like for spicy, but it had an amazing flavor. I mixed everything together, including the spicy aïoli, and it made for the perfect bite. It came with a few more pieces of that tender pita bread. I ended up with about half of my dip trio, and half of my main course. Enough to take Home for another full meal. The price is on the higher end, but for the amount of the amazing food you get, it was definitely worth it. I will be back. Thank you.

Took it at home and ate the entire dish. It was refreshing and nice. I'll definitely come back to this one. I find it funny that I was told the limitations on my protein. It's chicken/falafel or Beef/lamb. I wanted chicken and beef but the counter girl said it's not done that way. So I just ordered the chicken falafel. It was actually really good anyway.

I especially wanted to see if their lamb shank was still the "star" from my last visit and to try their meat kabobs. So what did we order. 1) Lamb shank (2 orders): again, i believe this entree is one of the best items here. The shank is braised so well that the meat comes right off the bone without any efforts. The flavor is exceptional. it arrives on a bed of rice, hummus, greek salad, and pita bread. This is an item i would order without hesitation. 2) Chicken kabob skewers plate: 6 pieces of boneless white meat that is grilled once the order is placed. The chicken had a nice char and looked great. But the flavor was very mild and grilled a little too long which made the meat a tad dry...perhaps the chicken needed to be marinated longer for the spices to penetrate but the dryness was in preparation over the grill. 3) chicken and beef kabobs skewers plate: again the chicken was grilled a tad too long which made the pieces dry. the beef was moist and had a nice flavor. It also comes with rice and a salad. 4) mixed plate: sliced meat from a rotisserie spit on top of a bed of rice and topped with tzatziki sauce and hot sauce, hummus and greek salad. the sliced meat was a bit dry but more tzatziki sauce on the meat helped. The side salads were very basic. The pita bread is not as soft and fresh as the ones from Jayna Gyro on Alhambra blvd. But I would give 4 stars for the lamb shank and 2-3 stars for the grilled and chicken and beef kabob and rotisserie chicken sliced from the spit.
