Petrifying Springs Biergarten is unique as far as beer gardens go in that it is not associated with a bar, it is associated with Kenosha County Parks system which makes it a fantastic family spot. With at least a couple of acres of open area that has soccer goals set up, while the parents enjoy beer and wine, brats, hotdogs and giant pretzels with sausage and cheese curds, the kids have plenty of things to keep themselves busy. They also have live entertainment. There is also hiking trails, so if you bring a Corn Hole game, a volleyball net or other outdoor game you could spend an entire day there. They have a good selection of beers which are sold in 12 oz and liter mugs (mugs require a $5 deposit that you get back when you return the mug) and wines by the glass. The pretzels were about 12" long by 4 " wide and 1" thick and soft. Besides the sausage and cheese curds they came with the best brown mustard that I have ever tasted. I must also point out that leashed dogs are allowed, so the entire family is welcomed. Can't wait to go back, unfortunately it won't be until the first of August if weather and time permits. read more

What a wonderful concept. Petrifying Springs Park itself is a neat little area with a baseball diamond, a dog park, and some trails, but the biergarten takes it to the next level! They have a selection of beer (of course), some mixed alcohols, wine, root beer for the non-drinkers. In terms of food they have brats, a giant pretzel which you can get also with cheese curds and snack sausages (almost like a charcuterie?). Food and drink were good, especially for an outdoor venue. The space itself is great, huge umbrellas to shade you from the sun, picnic tables, benches, standing areas to just kick back and relax. There's a dog park nearby and many people bring their dogs into the biergarten, all of the ones there seemed very well behaved. read more

Perfect spot to grab a bite after a walk around the springs or parkside. The biergarten is located conveniently across from the parking lot and there is a ton of parking. The service was quick and super friendly here. The food took all about 10 mins to be done. It is located outdoors so dogs are allowed. There is live music and it is a fun atmosphere. There is a restroom in the back. The tables and benches were clean. The food was great! I loved the brat and the pretzel bun Was perfect. It def brought me back to Germany! read more

We sat outside the garden for the afternoon as a family picnic. I love the area and wish it was closer to visit more often. The garden was busy all day and you can Bri g your dogs which is a bonus. We stayed for the music which was scheduled for the evening hit ended up being a high school band. That was a little disappointing as I was expecting a group with more experience on stage. Ahhh... Petrifying Springs Biergarten is one of my happy places. This biergarten opened in May 2017, and quickly established a great reputation. It was recently named one of the Top 10 Biergartens in America! Good food, and live music, in an a picturesque outdoor setting. What else could you want. This past Sunday (June 5th), was absolutely gorgeous out. I started the day with a two-hour hike; then I did a bunch of work around the house. Afterwards, I decided to go for a drive... with gas prices what they are you probably think I'm crazy. Anyway, I decided to stop by Petrifying Springs Biergarten. I'm so glad I did. It's been a couple years since I've been here; and they've changed it up a bit, but it's still the same wonderful place. Petrifying Springs Park offers a beautiful backdrop for the biergarten. The biergarten menu offers a handful of items including hotdogs, brats, pretzels, and a nice selection of beverages. I've tried most of the food and it is very good. If you are in the area and looking to relax outside with some good music, give this place a try. read more

First things first - This is a great American beer garden. I state that up front, because my criticism is that they sell themselves as a German biergarten, and fall short of that in so many ways: 1. They serve "Obatzda" with their pretzels - No they don't, there is no camabert, it is just cream cheese and shredded cheddar. Maybe there's beer, not sure. 2. They serve 2 types of "Flammkuchen" - No they don't, "Flammkuchen" has an extremely thin, pastry-like crust, and these are just typical flatbread crusts. 2a. I had the "Oktoflamm" which was mostly good, but it included one very thin slice of bratwurst per slice, should be at least 50% more meat than that by my estimation. Also, a couple of general quibbles: 3. The beer selection is great! But compare the menu and signs to the tap handles if accuracy matters to you - I ordered Wisconsin Maibock and got served Lake Louie, no one said anything about it. 4. I wish the parking situation was policed better. The closest lot is always full, even when the beer garden is only half full and no one is at the dog park. The alternate options are either up a significant hill or very far away. If you're looking for a brat, a pretzel, and German or craft beer, this is a GREAT place to do that. But if you're looking for an authentic German biergarten, Estabrook in Milwaukee is much closer to the mark. read more

Four stars because it's cash only. I prefer the one I visit closer to home where the group seating is under a large open air structure, but this location isn't that bad. Obviously there's beer, and a small food offering. It looks like there's a stage for music, though I was visiting for trivia. I liked the grounds overall, and there's a large parking lot as well as a clean public restroom. ATMs are available since credit cards are not accepted- or at least we're not when I visited. Well behaved dogs are welcomed! Some of the seating that I noticed have shade umbrellas too. It's a great little spot to gather after work or on weekends and the surrounding park is quite inviting as well with picnic areas and walk paths. This is a fun place to chill with a beer and people watch. I am not sure if it resembles a true German Biergarten but it does not matter to me. I like this place because you can bring your dog. On some days they have music and food trucks. To me, it seems to be a family friendly and it is nice to see all ages enjoying themselves. You can get two different size beer steins. I go for the 16 oz because by the time you finish you beer it is warm. I cannot imagine the 32 oz stein staying cold until I finish it. The service is fine. You have three lines. One line is for your to rent your stein for $5, you get the money back when your return your stein, a food line and the last line is the beer line. Cash only! There are ATMs at location. read more

Love Biergartens and the location is nice. That being said they need to enter the 21st century, none of the ATMs work and they only take cash. Had to drive to the nearest gas station to get cash. Been here twice now. So impressed. After working all over Germany for decades and many times in Munich, this is about as close as you can get to a real biergarten. They had actual authentic German beer on draft available in the big maß glass 1 liter mug and even knew how to make me a radler. Like in Germany you make a deposit called a pfand on the beer glass you get back upon its return. They also had a little menu with sausages and large Bavarian pretzels just like the have in Germany. Pet friendly, live music on some nights and plenty of restroom facilities steps away. Reminded me much of the Englischer Garten in München. Well done folks. Just what Kenosha has been waiting for! I have visited the Biergarten twice in the week it has been open. It is a really enjoyable spot to bring your pup, meet up with friends and grab a brat & a beer. Set at the edge of Petrifying Springs Park, next to the baseball diamond and across from the doggie park. There is a parking lot directly across the street with the restrooms just beyond that over a bridge. If you must, there are a couple of porta-pottys behind the baseball bleachers. The food menu is limited. Brats, popcorn and ice cream treats for everyone. The beer menu is a bit more extensive. I tried their lightest beer and it was pretty good. The next visit, they were out of the light and the bartender suggested the next lightest version. Loved it! It was light with a hint of a bright fruity freshness. Sorry I do not know the names of the particular beer choices - the lightest and 2nd lightest. There are tons of picnic tables on two sides of the garden and inside the building. There are also many adirondack chairs near the fire pits. Both times it was quite easy to find a seat. I have been there before and after dark. It is super fun either way. Each visit I ran into friends enjoying themselves as well. I think this is a great destination spot for al fresco casual dining or grabbing an ice cold beer. It would also be a nice way to start your evening out by meeting up with friends there first. I'm happy with the new addition to Petrifying Springs Park. read more

Really liked this place. You can get a brat with kraut which is awesome. Good pretzels with cheese. Beer, obviously. Other drinks I have not tried. They have umbrellas,looked like they were reserving an area for a party and some tables were being reserved also. I have mixed feelings about that. Other paying customers then had less options, we had no umbrella options because of this which makes a difference. The area to the bags section was chained off to the public. If this is something that frequently occurs then Id say 3 stars. There are a lot of dogs there and its a pro that you can take them on the leash. Nice walking trails all around. You could have your own picnic nearby the garden but you have to keep the beer in the garden. Would be nice to take a stroll with a beer but we can dream. read more
