Both the office woman Kim and service manager Jim TOLD ME (phone/text/email) back in August that when I moved out, I needed to provide a meter reading for my refund of oil that was in the tank and the new tenants would be charged for the amount of oil in the tank once they opened the account. The service manager would bug the shit out of me and my tenants for them to sign up stating that my refund wouldn't come until then so finally the tenants opened their account (even though they didn't want to go with them but then I wouldn't receive my refund through Petro and they'd have to pay separately). Now ALL OF SUDDEN i don't get refunded and they basically tell me to screw off the tenants need to pay me they can't do it and they never stated they could. I have it clear as day in writing on emails and texts and now they still won't refund me the $650 that now I'm out of. Switched oil provider after the previous company failed to set me up for automatic deliveries (as agreed upon!) by taking my card # to keep on file, etc. and then finding myself almost out of oil on New Year's Eve! Thankfully, I had received a promotional letter from Petro so decided to give them a try and couldn't be more pleased. The sales agent was thorough and efficient in going over the various options so I could make an informed decision, and their delivery crew couldn't have been more courteous, professional and genuinely committed to customer satisfaction. Petro is the best oil company I have ever had! This morning my free annual heater tune up was done, they installed that same unit a few years ago with a lifetime warranty, It is quiet, efficient and reliable. Many oil delivery companies go out of business, Petro is solid. Their prices are great! I also got a 2 year fixed rate no matter how high the cost, I am locked in. If you want amazing service! I have been a long time customer of Petro, and this time they really came through on the service. Last Monday they came out to inspect my furnace that was making a funny noise. Turned out it was leaking, and I needed a new furnace. I wanted it replaced as soon as possible, even though it still was providing heat. On Tuesday Stephen Smith came out first thing to price it. Stephen arranged for a replacement the next day. On Wednesday a crew was there all day removing the old and installing the new, which wasn't easy, because I no longer have a bulkhead. They had to bring everything through the house. It went very smoothly, and the crew was great. Other than having to spend the money for a new furnace, I was very happy with Petro. read more

When they were atlas glenmore we were very happy with a ceiling plan. We would pay maybe 30 Cents more per gallon then the average daily rate. Since they became Petro the daily rate for our last 3 fill ups has been 3.99 which is much higher then the local averages. They are refusing to budge on that pricing. I was told that the pricing will never exceed the ceiling but that it would fluctuate over the season. This has not happened. The service contract is BS as well. If it is simple no parts issues then its fine. We had a service and the technician quoted a price then the bill came and that price now doubled. Three calls later to sort that out. They are happy to sell you higher cost service plans as well. STAY AWAY read more

My wife and I have had an extremely unpleasant customer experience with Petro. They misrepresented their Price Ceiling plan as being variable when in fact IT WAS FIXED AT THE CEILING PRICE. Accordingly, they have been gouging us for oil at $1 or more/gallon than competing companies and insist on charging us a $399 termination fee if we wish to receive a market rate from a competing company. They are unethical and unscrupulous. Avoid this Company and most of all their confiscatory pricing plans AT ALL COSTS. We have been customers of Petro Home Services for over 30 years and have always found them to be of the highest quality in all aspects of their business. Recently we had an issue with our boiler that resulted in it having to be shut off and replaced. Chris Cataldo from their Sales Department went , in my opinion, to extremes to assist us in expediting the replacement process and schedule making the process as seemless and worry free as possible. The Service Manager Tim Kasiecki and the install technicians made the installation of the new boiler an easy experience also by working woth us and explaining to us the process and operation of the new system Tim was also helpful in assisting us with the insurance claim process by collecting the recent historical information on the old boiler and completing the insurance claim form. I had Atlas Glen Mor for many years, and since acquired by Petro, I have observed a marked decline in service and oil delivery frequency. I now have to keep an eye on the tank personally, even though I have never ran out of oil. I think the service guys are still the same, which is a relief. I am keeping a close eye on their performance, and will jump ship if I have doubts about continuing long term. One of the reviewer complained about the ceiling price problem, I have never had one but then that's a concern. They need to get their act together and PAY ATTENTION to customer reviews and complaints. read more

I spoke to someone yesterday refusing to take the only $100.00 I had as we ARE in a pandemic! So I could get fuel to heat my home and have hot water for my three children and I. Yet I was denied and told to PAY THE ENTIRE balance or I wouldn't recieve ANY fuel!! You are a very croocket company. Money hungry and could give a dam for a single Mom with three children to provide heat and hot water!!  I have been a good paying customer for 11 yrs and being forced to leave as you CANCELED my contract and WON'T provide one of the main sources to live. Heat and hot water to a family, whom has only one parent! Your disgraceful horrible customer service! How your money hungry and have ABSOLUTELY no moral decency to help in a time a family needs it most. To deny a payment of $100.00 and asking for a full amount!! I have ALWAYS paid and now to be treated like this is showing me how you don't value my 11 yrs of being a loyal customer. So once I'm paid up, contract over..... As if it doesn't get any worse. I got a call saying I was in breach of contract with another fuel company to fill my tank!!! YOU ended my contract the day you refused to give us fuel! Then you wanted to then honor your own breach of contract and tell me I need to pay an early termination fee!! Here is your bs fee!!! Very disorganized business! We prepaid early after our first oil delivery & bill came with a late charge automatically. It took 3 phone calls to get it removed. This type of late fee billing is a frequent issue with lots of apologies & promises to get it fixed which do not happen with 1 phone call. How frustrating. From the evening I called to the time I turned the heat on with my new furnace, less than 48 hours had passed. Stephen Smith and his team made things happen and I didn't have to stress over details. The finacing, install, and follow up was what great customer service should be all about, but is hard to find these days. I only have experience with oil delivery with them. They are decent in service but will take as much money as they can from you. While in contract with them, we never got short on oil, the technicians who come to our home were wonderful, and we had them come to our home on Christmas once when we couldn't figure out what was wrong with the furnace, and overall they do what they promised to do...but I no longer trust them when it comes to money. If you complain or tell them that you want to cancel, they will give you discounts, but no rewards for being a diligent, paying-on-time customer. Having 1 or 2 years contract, they tell you that you will benefit from the oil price not going over the ceiling price, but the fact is, they've always charged us the ceiling price...Another thing that bothered me a lot is that they seem to not use any sort of email, or try not to use email, they make you agree to a contract always over the phone, and later send you papers in the mail. They are okay if you can't find any other company, but I think there are plenty more companies that are honest with as good or better service than this company. We've always received excellent service from Atlas Glen-Mor. Petro has continued the good service. We use them for oil deliveries and have also used them for plumbing and to keep our furnace maintained and in good repair. No one likes to pay for oil, but even their billing team is compassionate and makes it easy to keep our home heated and stay in good standing as a customer. Like every oil supplier everywhere, they did have some trouble keeping up with customer demand last winter when it got really cold. Despite that, they were compassionate and kept us up-to-date about when our service tech would visit. All of the technicians we've ever dealt with have been professional, courteous, and competent. Calling into the office is always met by a friendly local rep ready to help. The equipment sales rep was knowledgeable, friendly, and very professional. We are in Massachusetts. We've been with Petro for 4 years on one of their budget plans. Billing department is the worst I've ever dealt with. They've billed my card without any notification when our budget plan ran short. They increased our cost of oil without notification. When I got a new credit card and updated the account (which only involved changing the expiration date on the card), they repeatedly attempted to charge the old card resulting in payments not going through and me having to pay more than one month at a time. After all these issues, we attempted to leave the company this past summer, but they repeatedly called us dropping the price of our oil until we finally agreed to stay, which we are regretting, because now we've found out that they never reinstated the budget plan and are now hit with an over $500 bill because they haven't been charging us like they should. I understand that it's my responsibility to make sure bills are paid, but when you sign up for budget plans and auto debit you are not supposed to have to constantly check up on a company to make sure things are billed directly and I feel like that's all I do. I use auto pay for my electric, phone, car payment, and cable and have had no issues with any other company. This is the only one that I literally have to babysit. Also we have repeatedly asked to speak to a supervisor, and have yet to hear back from anyone with any kind of authority. When we made an attempt to leave the company again, we were told we would have to pay a $350 cancellation fee. read more

I received a call from the service manager at Petro. He apologized for the delay in my radiator repair, and told me that he would discuss this with the rest of the office staff and ensure that this doesn't happen again. He came across as genuine and very helpful. He also connected me with customer service to discuss my pricing plan for oil delivery. Through my conversations with both of them, I feel that my issues were taken seriously by the company and both representatives offered to make things right and keep me as a customer. Buyer Beware! Do not get roped into a contract with this company! They are crooked thieves. I never once got automatic refills during my contract and they never let me order oil if I had a balance, until my contract was over. Then they started delivering oil unannounced twice. Giving me a balance of $650, without ordering anything. They claim they are an automatic delivery company even though my contract was over. Apparently you have to call them and cancel but they seem to want to deliver oil with a balance on my account. I filed a grievance with the Better Business Bureau. Now they double my balance for some unknown reason. Maybe because I. Nacelles finally with them. Stay away. Horrible customer service also. You can never get through to them to order oil. The worst, overpriced oil company around that doesn't stand by its word. Was promised a variable rate with a cap of 2.68 with our service contact. Only to be told today that our recent fill would be at 3.849. Not only that but customer service is awful. No shows on our annual cleaning and service without as much as a phone call. I will start with saying that I never leave negative reviews. I occasionally leave very positive reviews but otherwise keep negative experiences to myself. But this is meant as a buyer beware. I have used Petro oil for the past 3 years. The first year they convinced me to sign up for a service contract that supposedly pays for any service needed and locks you in to better pricing. I believe it was about $200. Last year they called me for the whole year trying to get me to sign up again and then eventually charged me anyway. I let them because I didn't care enough to stop it. This year they charged me over $400 for the service without asking. When I contacted them and told them to take it off my bill they quickly said they would of course. A month later and I go online to pay my next bill and the charge is still there and now states it is a late payment. I contacted them again and told them to take it off... they agreed that it has been handled incorrectly. While this is happening I finally look at my bill and realize that they are charging $3.68 a gallon. I quickly checked a local competitor and they charge $2.10 currently. So for 150 gallons I am paying an additional $237. For what... its the same oil. So I decided to contact them again, tell them that I would like to discontinue autoservice, that I would be using another supplier and that I would pay my final oil bill (delivered yesterday) after I see the service charge removed. They then proceeded to call me to discuss how my service had been paused due to my lack of payment!!!! I have paid in full for every delivery. I said I would hold off payment for the few days it took to remove the charge since I do not want to ignore a company that states I have an overdue balance. My account was paused because I told them to pause it. And the person calling said... oh yeah it says that right here... that will be off in a few days. I thought they were calling to see if they could save me as a customer... but why would they want a customer that reads their bills before they pay them. read more

In the 2 years since Petro bought out Glen-Mor: (a) I had to call 6 times to get my oil delivery correct, (b) I had 5 instances of incorrect billing [all in Petro's favor], (c) one instance which resulted in Petro sending me a letter stating that unless I paid my past due balance [of which there was none - I actually had a credit] they would not deliver any more oil to me - in February, when it was 3 degrees outside. My recent bill showed another error: I am all done with this company. Front line reps are fine: polite and professional - but the infrastructure of the company communication is non-existent.
