The veterinary assistant came in to check on us and could not have been nicer. The vet was competent and quick to help us. I HIGHLY recommend this Vet. I was so surprised how smooth the process was and how nice everyone is. You are in good hands here without any doubt.

It's the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend....I took my dog here at 10:30am, which is a half hour…read moreafter they are supposed to open. There was a sign on the door saying they wouldn't open till noon. I waited in my car with my dog until noon. When I went to the door an employee said the Vet had a family emergency and they wouldn't be opening at all. They directed me to closest Emergency Vet in the area. I can't afford to take my dog to an emergency vet for a UTI that is the same one she seems to get every year. She is uncomfortable and needing to go out all the time, so I just wanted to get her started on antibiotics, as it does get worse the longer it goes untreated and can turn into something serious. Also, after reading reviews for the recommended Emergency Vet describing nine hour waits and exorbitant bills with no explanation, it was the last place I wanted to take my dog, and sounds par for the course for Emergency Vets. Btw, as I look at the Yelp page now that I'm home it still says they are open. This place should be ashamed of itself. If they don't have more than one Vet on call for a holiday weekend, then they shouldn't call themselves Urgent Care! Holiday weekends are literally the reason for their existence. I wonder how many people will "save their spot" only to find out, after driving from who knows where with a sick dog, that the Urgent Care is closed on Memorial Day Weekend with no notice to potential customers. It sucks.

Please let her take her time. When grooming was finished my dog was limping so bad not putting weight on her left leg, I had to carry her to the car. When we got home she still could not put any weight on her left leg. Was able to get her into the vet. She was diagnosed with a torn ligament in the left knee. Started pain meds & 5 laser therapy treatments at a cost of $145.00. The treatments did not help. Recommend surgery. Appointment with James River Vet Surgery for a left TPLO on her knee but when an X-ray was done it turned out her left hip was completely out of the socket, she had to have a FHO surgery to remove the ball end of the bone at a cost of $4201.52 followed by physical therapy at the cost of $625.00 for 6 sessions. After the FHO surgery she had to have the TPLO on her knee on August 14th at the cost of $4166.54, followed by another 6 sessions of physical therapy costing another $625.00. Not to mention all of the hundreds of dollars spent in pain meds.. All of this because of the service given by Petco's incompetent groomer. I hope no one else ever uses Petco in Chester, Va for grooming.

I strongly do not recommend this clinic and would give zero stars if I could…read more My boyfriend brought my girl in for an infected cyst on her shoulder, accompanied by lethargy and a fever. Instead of addressing the clear infection, the vet, Dr. Burke, tried to diagnose her with gastroenteritis--despite the fact that she had no vomiting or diarrhea to suggest that. I can only assume this assumption was made based on her breed (Great Dane), which is completely inappropriate. We approved necessary bloodwork, which came back fine, but they still failed to address the actual issue. They prescribed antibiotics and sent her home without even cleaning the infected site nor offering pain management. She left the clinic still covered in dried blood and pus. To make matters worse, her records were filled with errors and inaccurate information. Having previously worked in a veterinary office myself, I know how records should be documented, and these made no sense. When I called to request corrections, the response I received was dismissive at best. Edit / Update: My girl has since been seen by her regular vet, who discovered multiple pockets of infection that developed because the original wound was never properly cleaned or clipped. What began as a small, treatable infection has now spread across her entire shoulder. She has been in pain, and the stress this has caused me has been overwhelming. All of this could have been avoided had Dr. Burke taken the time to actually listen to our concerns and properly examine her, rather than jumping to an unrelated and irrelevant diagnosis. At her regular vet, she was immediately cleaned up and properly treated, which revealed the true severity of the infection. I've attached pictures--some from UrgentVet and some from her regular vet--so you can see the difference in care for yourself.

I just took my French bulldog here to have a basic bath and brush. It entitles shampooing, blow…read moredry, brush out, nail trim, ear cleaning, anal gland expression and paw pad trim. My appt was at 1:30 i got there about 10 mins early and they took her right away. I asked Hannah who was doing her grooming how long was it going to take? She said about an hr. I told Hannah directly and also put it in the notes don't cut her nails since she just had them done Saturday and to ensure she had her anal glands done. Which again was in her notes. The service was to last an hr. I stayed in the store shopping while she was being serviced. I went to pay and she was done while i was checking out it was 1:47. She was still wet when i got her and did smell clean. Semi. While shopping i did see Hannah and i asked her did anything come out when she did her anal expression? She seemed confused and gave me a quick no. I paid and took my pup home while going home i noticed her ears. They were still dirty. So I called to the store and spoke to Serena. I told her my dogs ears were still dirty which is something that's included in the service. She asked me "what would you like me to do about it?" Since I was too far to turn around i told her i would leave it up to her. She then told me my dogs nails were trimmed after i told them NOT to cut them and had it in her notes they still did it. So i questioned why my dogs ears were still dirty to find out they only "cotton ball wipe" their ears and not flush their ears clean. For the money i paid ($25) i feel like a lot more should have been done. I paid this money for my dog to be pampered and everything they did i could have done at home minus the anal gland expression but better. Don't waste your money on something you can do for free. I'm very disappointed and wont be going back!!
