I've taken notice that Petsmarts or any pet store these days has lost its sparkle. What once use to be a delightful shopping experience, now feels dull. This particular location unfortunately has lost some of the sparkle. Dim lighting, not organized, no overhead music, there's literally no ambiance. If you want to compete with online businesses you just remain relevant. Merchandising is weak and you're lucky to have any assistance on the sales floor. I am writing to formally complain about a very poor grooming experience at Aventura Fl your PetSmart location. My dog's grooming appointment was scheduled for 9:00 AM, yet she was not finished until approximately 4.5 hours later. During this time, I returned multiple times to the salon and personally observed my dog confined in a cage for more than three hours without grooming being performed. It was clear that the salon overbooked appointments while operating with only three groomers on staff. Additionally, the groomer originally assigned to my dog was changed without my knowledge or consent, and the replacement groomer appeared inexperienced and rushed through the service simply to complete it after hours of delay. The final grooming result reflected this -- rushed, careless, and not acceptable given the amount of time my dog was kept waiting. This is the second time I've experienced this issue at this location, and this visit was significantly worse than the first. Leaving dogs crated for hours due to staffing and scheduling problems is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about animal welfare. I am extremely dissatisfied and expect this issue to be addressed. read more

We love to go on road trips around Florida because there is so much to see, and we want to take our 2 chihuahuas with us. So we devoted a Saturday morning to go shop for a comfortable small dog carrier for them, but the selection was very small to choose from, and we had to leave empty-handed. Usually, they are better stocked. Better luck to us next time. Parking was easy with lots of spaces available. The employees were helpful. We saw many cute dog toys and outfits that we will come back to look at in the near future. read more

This review is only for the grooming team at Aventura! From all the PetSmart grooming location, this one is my ultimate favorite. The entire staff is vary welcoming. Muhammad is beyond amazing with my baby Dexter. I can tell Dexter is always happy to see him, as this is our 3 time with him. Dexter does not like the blow dryer, Muhammad uses other methods to dry Dexter up. I truly appreciate service provided both to my dog and I. Absoultely terrible grooming service. I took my dog in for a bath and to get her nails clipped, and half way through the groomer calls me and says that "she doesn't like the blow dryer, and that she's just going to let her air dry.". I have never had an issue with my dog being aggressive or giving groomers issues with the blow dryer. I go to pick up my dog and the same lady goes in the back to get my dog and i can hear her yelling at my dog in the back, and I was being dismissed by the other groomers in the front saying that no one is yelling when I can clearly hear her from the front. Furthermore she was not even brushed nor were her nails clipped, a completely unacceptable service, with unbelievable crappy customer service. If you care about your animals in the slightest don't take them here to get groomed, save your pup the trauma and take them anywhere else. read more

I am beyond disappointed by my experience with PetSmart Grooming. I scheduled an 11:30 AM grooming appointment with Andy and was told by him it would take about 3 hours and that I'd receive a call when my dog was ready. That call never came. By after 5 PM, growing concerned, I drove to the store myself -- only to find out that Andy had already left for the day (before 12:30pm) and no salon manager was on site. An employee, Shasha, kindly tried to bring my dog out, but she (my dog) was scared and defensive. I was then called to the back to calm her and get her myself. That's when I realized: she had been sitting in a cage for 5 hours and hadn't been touched -- no bath, no grooming, nothing. This is a small rescue dog who has come so far in the 2 years I've had her -- she's grown more trusting and confident despite the bleak circumstances she came from. This experience was clearly traumatizing for her. When we got home, she crawled under my bed -- the safe space she used to retreat to when I first adopted her -- and stayed there half the night. I will never entrust either of my dogs to PetSmart Grooming Services again, and I deeply regret having tried. read more

Went to get my dog groomed and I had a horrible experience. First of all the lady at the front spoke no English and didn't make any efforts to communicate with me which is very aggravating. The second I got there an older Cuban guy automatically said he couldn't take my dog because she had a scar in her back he said " what is that? I am not touching that." And made me go to vet, when I got there the vet looked at me with a confused face and said "what's the question? She's fine" it had been 5 months and her scar is completely healed but I guess they just didn't feel like dealing with my dog that day. To make things worse after I had to go out of my way just to get my dog to be groomed they ended up saying to come back another day because there was an unsupervised puppy bothering my dog so she growled at them and they just assumed she was aggressive and again didn't feel like dealing with her. Horrible service and horrible staff. Went to petbar near there the day after, asked no questions were super friendly and took her in right away. Oh also THEY SPOKE ENGLISH. Took my dog to the groomers because I have a plan with Bandfield and received horrible service. Older gentleman there was rude and didn't want to take my dog due to a healed wound she had from cancer surgery. Even tho I had prior vet approval for the grooming they made me go to the Bandfield to get the "okay" made me wait just to tell me to come back later because they didn't have time for me because they had too many dogs and didn't want to handle or deal with my dog even tho I had an appointment. Older gentleman was also very rude when talking to me and talking about my dog. Staff didn't speak any English and didn't want to communicate with me. Would not recommend anyone to go. I came to get my 6 month old Toy poodle a basic bath and haircut. The rep that took him in was (Sophie). She was sweet and energetic i was more then happy leaving my dog and paying for the services (BEFORE her starting) knowing he's in good hands. Boy was i WRONG!!!! I came back to get him and his whole face was messed up! She tried to give the excuse to justify it, which didn't make sense and i ended up getting a refund. Came in here for a couple things and needed some help rounding up some crickets and pet food. Gentleman named Dexter was very helpful and as kind as can be; he took his time answering any questions I had and really assisted in helping me make the right decisions for the correct pet food. There's also a Banfield Hospital located inside so if your pet has insurance, this is a great place to take them to see the vet. If you need a groomer, there's also a large area where you can drop your pet off and have them taken care of. I've personally haven't used their services since it's a bit far but I'm sure they do a decent job. If you're looking for crickets, they're only $0.11 each with no minimum so that's a great little deal. read more

It's been about 7 years since I stopped taking my dogs to the PetSmart and upon calling them today I just remembered why. Their search for money through corporate greed still goes on. I needed an antibiotic for my dog and thought to ask them how much because my vet charges almost double. The PetSmart policy is they're not a pharmacy and will provide medications only if they can charge you for an office visit. Even though I have the prescription I'd have to pay for an unnecessary pet evaluation. Apparently PetSmart cares more about their pocket than helping neighborhood residents to keep their pets healthy. read more

My dog received grooming here for the past 6 years. Always great except that i had to mention several times that she didn't need nail grooming or else they will systematically charge $15 without even asking. Also today i came for grooming and they refused to take care of her because i didn't have the proof of vaccination with me. I told them to scan the tag on her showing that she's up to date. Unfortunately the tag was not activated on the site. I then showed them the credit card receipt from Banfield but they wouldn't accept that either. I'm just ending a 6 years relationship with Petsmart. I felt like i was talking to robots. They were repeatedly saying the same thing. The lady in charge of the grooming even left the conversation without saying bye to me and left me with the manager. Poor team.. there's so much to improve customer's satisfaction!!! I do not recommend and for the same price I'll have her grooming done by those trucks doing grooming at home. read more

This store is not clean, the line (yes I said LINE not lines) is always so long that it can take 15 mins or more to check out. They never have my dog's fresh pet food in stock anymore. ALSO if you actually care about animals, don't shop there. I've done some research and these places are giant perpetrators of animal cruelty and neglect. You can see this just by walking through the fish section. I saw AT LEAST 20 dead fish in the tanks and quite a few dead bettas. I felt sorry for the one betta that was actually alert so I took her home and set up a very nice tank for her and she died two days later. Lastly, if you are looking for a dog groomer DO NOT GO HERE. I have never had a good experience here and they always overbook to the point that I had to wait in line for 20 mins to even check my dog in. I was going to the one in Hollywood because the groomers are awesome there and even have a nickname for my pup but I'll be finding a family owned groomer and pet store from now on. read more

I brought my toy poodle to get groomed with Tessa in the Aventura location at Petsmart after an hour and a half they call me that my dog was screaming and crying and shaking and they had to bring her to Bansfield to get checked by a vet. My stress level was so high, I knew that Tessa had hurt my dog unintentionally perhaps but it had never happened before in nine year. they lied about the sequence of event, I will never trust them again and you should not either, certainly not with Tessa which I had a bad feeling about, I should have trusted my instinct. read more

Honestly I have had the worst experience with PetSmart, this location mostly! I have had 2 instances now where I have booked grooming appointments online for my two dogs only to be told those appointments were not made accurately. That there was some computer issue apparently and although there shows appointments available they don't really have them. Each time I was made aware of the problem ON the morning of the appointment. The first time when I was actually on my way there. I was offered a free groom for both pets as an inconvenience the first time this happened. And when I tried to schedule that free appointment the next time I was available to take them the same thing happened. So basically I was offered a free groom over a month ago that I have still not been able to use. I was told to call to schedule my appointment instead of using their messed up online booking system. When I called this morning they have no appointments available for 3 days when I unfhave to be back to work and cannot take my pups. At this point I think I'm going to just forget about ever trying to give this place business again. It's seeming to be impossible Update: after speaking with Alexis who I'm assuming is the manager I was able to get my pups groomed. And highly to my satisfaction by Josh. This is a decent PetSmart location in a hectic shopping plaza, shared with Whole Foods and Target. We come here for Wellness brand food and some treats and toys, and sometimes for grooming. Our regular groomer is Josh, he takes care of our dog. I'm not sure why some people have issues, but I suppose it can happen. You have to be clear and up front with what you want, they document it on the check-in, they always discuss options clearly. I suppose if you drop your prize winning dog off and don't talk to anyone, you may get a surprise when you return. Overall, its a decent option to get regular supplies and grooming, if you aren't using online and mobile groomers. read more

I saw a groomer pull my dog's tail out of the cage and they questioned why my dog would bite them. They refused to groom my dog because he was biting... like my dog was the one abusing them when they were throwing my dog around. 1,5 years I went to this place with mine Pomeranian. All professional groomers know and I know now that Groomer have to use only scissors!!!!! Only! And don't cut short this breed. I gave my dog and said cut only about 0,5 inch no more ! When I come to get my baby he was Almost bold! And they use hair clipper. His hair was about 0,5 inch short! I had an argument with groomer, he said me it's some mistake was in the desk and we couldn't change now his grooming I can have some discount fir grooming ( I have discount for they spoil hair of my dog ) . And that my dog hair will grow, what I have now ? It doesn't , no more , and hair without long hair now , only kind of hair , but isn't. No my dog has syndrome "Boo" and lost all hair on his stomach and chest. And noting help him anymore. You can see quality of hair before grooming at this horrible place and what we have now. I cry almost every day about I went to this place . I will never get his hair back and probably he will lose his hair more, because it's not coat it's undercoat, undercoat which rolls down and wears off. I paid hight price for this breed and I love him of course , but his coat was excellent and shows quality of his breed. And we were going on competitions, but after this grooming his career was stopped. Thank you pet smart grooming , you don't have professional groomers. OMG I have a very established freshwater tank healthy and thriving for over four years I have four very large freshwater angel fish that I've raised from fry I have not introduced any new fish in that time but decided to pick up some neons when I was in Aventura last week I purchased 10 neon tetras at this PetSmart brought them home introduced to the tank three days later the first of the Angels passed this morning I've lost a second one I called the Petsmart with my concerns and the young lady explained to me that she was not surprised these things happen and that I could come and buy medication to help with the apparent ick that was introduced to my tank (really) I've gone to a different store with photos to get recommendations on what to do and they've given me a plan to fix my tank I'm sorry for this review to be so long winded but I am amazed at the way the store handled this. I would not recommend this as a Live fish purchasing store they have a lot of equipment and accessories but I surely wouldn't get any fish there ever again read more

This is the closest pet store near me and this Petsmart offers training, grooming and also has a Banfield Hospital attached to it. This is where I take my dog for a quick groom and as a puppy, he did do the training. Very helpful but of course my pet did not follow each and every command taught but consistency is always the key. The Banfield insurance that he has, had helped him through his 4 years and still has it. Doctors are helpful and friendly. They do switch a lot but as long as they have experience, I'm ok with that. The pricing on the pet food are a bit more expensive then Pet Supplies Store or Pets Supermarket, so I don't get the food here. I just stick with the snacks or treats and even their clothes. Sometimes they have good deals on dog shirts and costumes. Overall, my experience here hasn't been good. read more

I have never had a bad experience here. I shop for pet supplies here at least once a month, and they always have what I need. Their prices are reasonable and their selection is always satisfactory. I'm very impressed with their pet grooming services and the care that is given to the animals here. All of the cages are clean and the animals obviously well cared for and well fed. All of the fish I have purchased here did well, and were healthy. I was very impressed with my experience here during the Christmas rush. I had a coupon good for $2.00 off any purchase of $10.00 or more. I forgot to use it at checkout and realized this after I'd left. I had to come back to that shopping plaza later in the day and thought I would see if they would refund me the $2.00. I wasn't really expecting them to, but the cashier was cheerful and patiently rung up a return and quickly had my cash for me. She completely understood the stress of the holidays and said she'd have done the same thing for two bucks! Glad I'm not the only one. Do not ever buy a fish on this place! They look sick and the water on the fish tanks is dirty. It's sad to go there and see how are they dying, even you can see some of them dead. Also if you need any help on that area you will not find anyone who can help you available. You have to go to the cashier and they have to call someone who never gets to help you! I took my dog for a grooming on Friday morning. He was in perfect health. Within a day and a half after his grooming he developed conjunctivitis and a skin infection in his neck. He was oozing a lot of liquid from his neck. When I brought him to the vet, she said he had a severe skin irritation. read more
