I have never had a bad experience here. I shop for pet supplies here at least once a month, and they always have what I need. Their prices are reasonable and their selection is always satisfactory. I'm very impressed with their pet grooming services and the care that is given to the animals here. All of the cages are clean and the animals obviously well cared for and well fed. All of the fish I have purchased here did well, and were healthy. I was very impressed with my experience here during the Christmas rush. I had a coupon good for $2.00 off any purchase of $10.00 or more. I forgot to use it at checkout and realized this after I'd left. I had to come back to that shopping plaza later in the day and thought I would see if they would refund me the $2.00. I wasn't really expecting them to, but the cashier was cheerful and patiently rung up a return and quickly had my cash for me. She completely understood the stress of the holidays and said she'd have done the same thing for two bucks! Glad I'm not the only one. Do not ever buy a fish on this place! They look sick and the water on the fish tanks is dirty. It's sad to go there and see how are they dying, even you can see some of them dead. Also if you need any help on that area you will not find anyone who can help you available. You have to go to the cashier and they have to call someone who never gets to help you! I took my dog for a grooming on Friday morning. He was in perfect health. Within a day and a half after his grooming he developed conjunctivitis and a skin infection in his neck. He was oozing a lot of liquid from his neck. When I brought him to the vet, she said he had a severe skin irritation. read more

Customer Service is Horrid, the Groomers except one are awful, you want ur furry child keep their long hair tell them to cut it, you want it short tell them to leave it long. You giggle when you see furry children looking at you with sad eyes, please dont leave me here, shaking, trembling... a good reason why they do and act like that. The "salon manager" needs to attend a few management/customer service classes. This Petsmart is one store that I can easily say is just average. Half the time the store is well stocked in the cat section, while the other times the store has huge empty spaces on the shelves. I never can figure out why this store isn't well stocked somedays because the employees seem to be always stocking when I stop by. Overall I will say the store is usually clean and any animal accidents seem to have been cleaned up quickly. Sometimes parking can be a pain, especially during the holiday season because Whole Foods, Target, and Best Buy share the same parking lot. One thing I have never used here is the grooming services, nor have I used the veterinarian services. read more

I took my dog for a grooming on Friday. When I came to pick him up, he was rushing to leave. The next day in the evening, I saw he had oozing fluid under his neck and mucus in his eyes. When we took him to the Vet, she told us he had conjunctivitis and a serious dermatitis condition. My dog had NO issues when we walked in for a grooming. I've been shopping in Petsmart for years. This store is by far the worst one. I've had bad experiences with the employees, the dog training class I ended up cancelling altogether ( the employee couldn't stick to his own schedule, couldn't remember my dog, etc ), and today, I hit my limit. I won't be shopping at this store anymore even if it is the closest to my home. Heres the situation. I purchased 2x aquarium 10 days ago for a petsmart price of $40. Today it was on sale for $24. I wouldn't care so much, but for a $32 difference, I believe it was worth getting the difference and possibly use the money to purchase a 3rd tank. The cashier, who was nice enough to print the receipt on my account ( proving I made the purchase ) said a store manager will need to approve my request. Basically, after a discussion with the manager, she told me... that the only way I would be able to get the difference, is if I return the tanks I originally purchased, and then buy them again at the new sales price. So there are many issues here: 1: Its not like I didn't make the purchase. I have proof of receipt. I'm not trying to pull a fast one. I am within the store policy guidelines. I don't believe this requires much critical thinking, just common sense. 2: Why would I dismantle 2 fish tanks, with LIVING ANIMALS already in them, to return them to the store, so I can repurchase it again, and set it up AGAIN. This is a bigger issue with me. This is an ethical issue. As a pet store, the employees should be very conscientious to the stress animals go through. Did this lady actually think this was a valid option? I do not accept this mentality or behavior from a pet store. Nor should anyone. 3: I don't appreciate the underlying tone and sarcasm. I wasn't rude, I didn't yell or raise my voice. This is by far one of the worst pet smarts I've ever been to. I only come here because it is next to my job. The store always seems to be under some sort of construction with rusted dirty floors.the parking lot is a nightmare. The shelves are usually at-least stocked and clean. My healthy 11 yr old cat has finally died after 10 months of fighting for his life, bleeding day in and day out, as a result of JUAN DAVILA Vaccinating him unethically causing him to have Cancer. On August 18th, 2014 I took my 11 yr. old, indoor cat who was completely healthy and full of life to Banfield Pet hospital because I was interested in getting his teeth cleaned after noticing some plaque build up. When bringing him in that day, I was recommended to sign up for the wellness plan, being that it included dental cleaning. I had no interest in anything else, being my cat was strictly indoors and has never had any previous health issues before.They explained to me that I would save money if I signed up for the wellness plan, and without it, the cleaning would be much more expensive. So I signed up for it, and set a date for the cleaning, I made my appointment with Dr. Munoz specifically, and that's when JUAN DAVILA came in her place and mentioned that she was called into surgery, that he would take over for her. I was never informed on these Vaccines or him getting any that day. I'm one to always research things before trying them, and would've never have allowed my cat to be vaccinated after reading all of the statistics on animals who get vaccinated becoming fatally ILL!. Also, I came to find out that my cat was given Zoetis Defenser 3 yr. rabies vaccine, As well as feline distemper!!! When was this shot given??? Banfield vets bonus off of the vaccines/ sign ups. I was never communicated by Dr. Davila of the odds/side effects/ or offered a tither test, he just came in and quickly Vaccinated my cat, and administered the heart worm. I only seen him give those two meds to my cat, and requested his nails to be trimmed. That's when he took my cat to the back, and apparently also gave him a distemper shot, because later on about a week or two after he has been bleeding from his abdominal area shortly after the vaccines, I picked up his records from banfield to have him looked at by another hospital, and it was listed as one he received that day. I was furious to know this!!! Between all of these vaccines, my cat was being poisoned, and as a result of this, had an immediate auto immune response, and began retaining bloody fluid in his abdominal pouch. This nightmare has been on going since August 26 roughly when I discovered this I began to seek answers for this retention in his abdomen and NO ONE could provide any. The hospital wouldn't take responsibility for none of this, and the Manager Raul had ZERO compassion for all that I was going through as a result of all that was done there. He actually gave me an attitude for being emotional over my pets condition, and refused to help me in any way with the diagnosis. I then filed a complaint with the corporate office client "advocate" team, and they had no resolution for me and zero regard for this unbelievable matter other than to refer me BACK to speak with Raul the Manager again about my concerns.I now was able to get a biopsy done at Miami Shores animal hospital who immediately came back with "Hemangiosarcoma". A cat who was perfectly healthy prior to these vaccines, and just days later started with the symptoms of this kind of Sarcoma and now he IS DEAD!!!!! I had to watch MY ANGEL PASS ON SUNDAY 6/28/2015 AFTER bleeding out every day on and off since August 2014. Yet Ban-field has the audacity to put me in collections for a so called wellness plan that killed my cat!!!! This company has thousands of reviews like mine! What is it going to take to get them investigated and eventually shut down??? I will never know what was in that injection, all I do know is my cat reacted horribly after Juan Davila Vaccinated him!!! And he was perfect! A1 condition, took vitamins for me with no problem, drank purified water, ate grain free foods, and stood in doors his entire life!! I have suffered tremendously watching my cat endure such cruel pain FOR ALL OF 10 months day in and day out, I cry several times a day, and have stood up countless hours sleeping only 2-3 hours a day on average just attempting to diagnose and treat his symptoms myself, also to replace Training pads from my bed and floor due to them being filled with blood!!!! That image will never leave my head. He couldn't even use the litter box anymore, cause the leg where he received the vaccine lost 90% of its muscle and his entire stomach was raw with the flesh exposed!!!!. if you love your pet, run for your life and their precious life!!!! I only wish I knew all I know now about the thousand of cases of innocent animals harmed and or killed at the hands of Banfield! Its unreal that they are still in business! One day I had this amazing idea that I would save myself the $75 that it costs to get my Malti-poo groomed and do it myself. After purchasing my own buzz cutter and attempting to groom my precious Armando Suarez myself, I realized that watching episodes of 'Groomer Has It' does not a groomer make. Just like anything else, professionals make everything look so easy! I found that I have no idea how to use a shaver. The hair does not come off as easily and quickly as it does when you watch through the glass windows at the grooming salon. Holding the pup with one arm and shaving with the other is complicated and frustrating. When I was done with Armand, instead of looking like a clean cut, well loved pup, he looked like a 5 year old had taken scissors to him. Also, I caution saying done, because I never even got that far. After nicking my poor pup's tush, I could not continue the job. So now, I have realized that I absolutely needed professional help (for dog grooming ;) Looking for the perfect place to take your precious baby (your dog) is never easy. I have tried many different places and asked several knowlegable sources (dog groomers), and have come to find that Petsmart is Aventura is the best place around to get your dog groomed. Not only do they offer several services for your pup, they actually do what they say they are going to do, and follow your instructions completely. One dog groomer that I met along the way was working for a private company and suggested this PetSmart. She said that she had worked for them in the past, and would highly recommend taking my dog there, if not to her. Every dog that goes into the grooming section of PetSmart must be up-to-date with their shots. The groomers do call the Vet to make sure if you don't have the proper documentation. This way you can be rest assured that your dog is not going to pay the high price for looking fabulous. You wouldn't think so, but the groomers are all top professionals who are friendly not only to doggies, but people as well. The other thing that I like is the consistency of personnel at PetSmart, I have been taking my pup there for several years, and he has had the same groomer. This adds to why I am comfortable leaving my pup there. Additionally, when I was in search of the perfect groomer for my pup, several of the puppy boutiques that offer grooming services were dirty and unkempt. Also, they did not check to see if he was up-to-date with all of his shots. So aside from paying high sky prices, the places were scary to leave my pup. There are special rates for puppies, so if you are just starting out and are new to the scene, they ease you in gently. I say this because it costs $50-$90 depending on the package, but considering my fiasco I now consider this completely worth it. Some of the options that you can add on are medicated shampoos and toothbrushing. I sometimes have to use the medicated shampoo because my pup loves to lick his paws and gets them sore and needs the soothing shampoo. Also, I highly recommend spending the extra few dollars on the toothbrushing instead of having a possible dental situation on your hands later on. You definitely need to call ahead first before driving over there to get your pup groomed. Most days I can call ahead and get same day service, but it is always better to make an appointment to make sure that there is space for your pet. Sometimes if they do not have space at this PetSmart, I call and take him to the one at Oakwood Plaza. read more

I agree with many of the yelpers, this place is subpar to other stores, specifically, pet supermarket. They don't seem to want your business. I walked in and said good morning to the cashier. Cashier looked at me as though I was an alien. Like, "Why are you saying good morning to me?" I was disgusted with that cashier's reaction. Oddly enough, it happened on two more occasions. This has been the worst customer service experience TWICE now. The register was backed up 10 deep and the manager (blonde short hair) came up and said, "sorry, I was in the back wIth someone". Shouldn't she be aware of what goes on up front? I was told that i needed to take my pets prescription to the vet area but the girl that stood at the counter for 20 more minutes after I left said, "we're closed". What? If you're closed then why are you standing there? After the manager came up she said, "I can take you"... and then walked away to another cash register. Heloooo? Business isn't always about product but the service. Now I know why online sales is kicking retail's butt. I walked out as will have better experience online after working a full day! First time experience, Pamela was the girl that took care of me and seemed very honest so I brought my dogs in. They had 3 hrs to work with my dogs but when I returned Pamela was gone. I paid for the dogs to have bath and nail grind. When they brought my first dog, his nails weren't done and didn't look like they even brushed him. The second dog was still wet and nails weren't done. They offered to do it and not charge me but that's not the point. The girl that was on staff commented that these dogs were Pamela's and she didn't look like she wanted to clean up another persons mess. Charging $21 for nail grinding seems a bit steep! An absolutely terrible experience. I took my dog to this location for a bath and nail grinding, because I was going to be in the area running errands. Had an appointment at 1030am. I dropped my dog off, came back at 2pm and asked was he ready, they told me that he needed another 45 minutes. I asked what had been done in the 3.5hrs that I left him, and the groomer stated she had only done the bath and he was still damp. I asked what was the purpose of the appointment if after 3.5 hrs they weren't even close to finished, and they said that's only to get him a spot. I've gone to the one in Pembroke Pines and had no issues. I will NEVER be bringing my dog back here. PetSmart Employee Cut Off The Toe of a Parakeet I Bought Today. I purchased a parakeet today from this PetSmart. The parakeet's flight feathers are not already trimmed at this PetSmart store, which is unusual ; but the employee said he would trim the bird's flight feathers if I purchased the bird. This is important to have done so you can more easily tame the bird and it won't hurt itself crashing into things in its new environment when you get it home. While filling out the paperwork in the back I heard a bird screaming, so I walked over (about 30 feet) to where the bird was and saw the employee trimming the bird's feathers. As this is not supposed to be painful (it's like trimming your fingernails) I was a bit surprised, especially as parakeets are small and normally very quiet. When the employee brought me the bird in the box it was still screaming and I again thought that was odd. It kept making the noise when I waited in line to pay for about 6 minutes. I thought maybe it was just agitated and frightened. When I got the bird home about 20 minutes later and opened the box I thought they had put red straw or something red as a comfort cushion for the bird. No, it was blood. A lot of blood. I cleaned up the poor freaked out bird and noticed he was missing one toe and bleeding profusely. I wrapped the bird's foot in paper towels the best I could, ran to the car, and headed back to PetSmart. My main complaint is this: I have trimmed the toes of birds before and if you trim too high, it bleeds like crazy and birds have died from this. There is no way the employee who trimmed this bird's wings did not realize he had nicked or cut the foot of this bird. In actuality he had cut off an entire toe. The employee's hands had to have had blood on them. Even so, he put the bird in the box and gave it to me. Maybe he thought it was just a nick. I don't think so. This is animal cruelty. It's not about my shock and sadness for this poor helpless animal. And it is also an example of an employee not being trained properly. My advice to PetSmart is to have the breeder who sells the birds to PetSmart, to professionally trim the wings of the pet birds PetSmart sells so this might not happen again. I write this because I do not want this to happen to any more birds or any other customers. Imagine if I had brought this bird home as a gift to a child, or if a child was with me during this. All the PetSmart manager Paul had to say to me today was, "the kid didn't mean it...accidents happen." He showed zero compassion towards the parakeet or the situation. The attitude was just to give me my money back and get me out of there. There was no comment from the manager, Paul, that the bird was being taken care of. It made me feel that because this was just a $20 parakeet, it didn't really matter that much. I told the manager Paul before I left that if he had any styptic, a product that stops bleeding, he should apply it immediately to the parakeet's missing toe. Paul seemed clueless. I have been bringing my dog there for grooming for several years. I only use Josh and he is the best. My dog knows him and when I say it's time for a "washy with Joshy" his ears perk up. I either call or make an online appointment and both are very easy to do. I have never had an issue and I have been bringing my dog there on a regular basis for several years like I stated earlier. Please beware !! The groomers here is a big NO NO!! I took my dog here for a quick cut and when I got him back his hair was cut to the skin. I mentioned I wanted to cut his hair short but not to the extent of him resembling a naked mole rat. I gave them instructions 3 times in regards to how I wanted my poodle groomed and the messAge was suppose to be passed over to josh the guy who cut my dogs hair. Idk what the lady heard but thanks to their careless groomers my dog has been walking around with a huge irritation which he can't stop biting. It's to the point where he is crying so now I have to invest in a trip to the vet to look for some kind of treatment since irritation creams and sprays aren't helping one bit. My biggest problem, was the manager scheduling me for a 10 o'clock class that didn't exist. Another customer had the same problem.I would think that peoples time and effort would be a priority for those in charge of scheduling. I was truly irritated and Natalie made it right. My dog got groomed at this location. Even though they knew my dog got cut the staff never told me until I brought it to their attention. I was leaving the store and I noticed that there was deep cut on my dogs eye. I reported it to the manager and they payed for his medical cost at their vet. The vet said that my dog needed antibiotics just in case the cut got infected. read more

I bought my sweet kitten Royce from his foster mom Arlene. He is a 4 month old Russian Blue/DSH mix, so well trained and taken care of already we barely had to do anything for him. As I was waiting to adopt Royce, I was noticing the cat selection they had was much better than any of the Petsmarts I had seen in Miami. In Miami, they usually have 3/4 cats out, while here they had about 10. If I wanted to adopt another cat, I would probably drive here to do so. The foster mom took us all around the store to buy supplies - toys, crate, food, litter, and everything we could possibly need. The only downside is Petsmart doesn't let you get cashback, so you need to go somewhere else for the $75 adoption fee. I did notice that as a chain store, Petsmart marks up all of their food/products by about 25% in comparison to what you can buy online from an actual manufacturer or Amazon. However, I am so grateful for this Petsmart and helping me bring my little fella into my home! read more

I have taken my pets to petsmart for grooming for across the country for years. The Aventura florida location previously had a male groomer that did an excellent job with my senior dogs. Today My husband and I reminded the petsmart grooming dept that they cannot stand during the bath process and need help up. An hour and a half later I was given a call for one dog, they didn't want to bathe because they were too busy and she wouldn't stand. My husband told her it was fine if she was damp on one side. They agreed to take time with her. Then 30 min later for the next dog they refused to help her out of the cage to give her a bath and told us to come pick both dogs up with incomplete service. The manager was unprofessional and didn't care about my pets and how they have been given care and concern in the past. She just stated that they were busy and didn't have time, then added at the end they were concerned about my pets, which obviously was not true, because they wouldn't help her up. When we picked them up they were walking just fine, as they had into the store. This store and now grooming service keeps getting worse and worse. The manager is very rude and does not even try and to pretend to care. If there was a new groomer that didn't feel comfortable I would understand, but when dropping them off I reminded the grooming staff that they were old and needed extra care as they had gotten in the past. I came to Petsmart to have my dog groomed for the first time on a Sunday since the groomer that I normally goes to was full on Saturday and closed on Sunday. Since I didnt feel like waiting for my dog to get groomed the following week, I decided to make an appointment with Petsmart. I must say, it was the worst experience for me and my dog have ever had! I have a Pomeranian so I figured these people would know how to groom since I always observe them whenever Im shopping in Petsmart right? Well WRONG! When it was time to pick up my dog, I couldnt recognize him! Thats how messed up he looked. It appears to me that the person who cut my dog was practicing for the first time. Half of my dog's head was shaved uneven. Nevertheless my dog's cut was totally different from what I told the lady initially to do. Instead of my dog looking like a cute pom with a haircut, he looked like a sick chihuahua! Plus my dog was acting different towards me as if he knew how horrible he looked. They totally lied to us about how the cut was going to look when I had my initial consultation (in which I was very specific about how I wanted the cut). Then when I picked up my dog (who was unrecognizable) they wouldn't even abide by their own mission statement "you're happy or it's free" - apparently there is "small print" which means it is really up to the managers discretion if they will make you pay the full price (61$) or give you a discount. I was livid! My poor dog went from being a cute 6lb Yorkie to a 4lb bald Chihuahua. Additionally, the manager had a huge attitude problem! No customer's service at all. I have already called in the complaint to corporate and am waiting a response...we'll see how that goes. I've been coming to this PetSmart (basically the only pet store I go to) for over 10 years. I always take one of my dogs with me. In the past I've used both the attached Banfield Hosp and the in-house groomer and have no complaints (though I haven't used either in years). This review is about PetSmart proper. I know from the questions they ask on their online surveys (every once in a while my receipt asks me to take a survey) that PS wants its staff to greet you as you arrive, ask if you've found everything you needed/wanted, offer to take your purchases to your car, etc. I also know this b/c it's common sense if you've ever been a customer pretty much anywhere. I can tell you that this particular PS doesn't seem to care about any of these aspects of customer service. Time was that I was at least greeted at the register (perhaps as I walked in) and my dog Harley petted and/or offered a treat. This hasn't happened for years! Worse, one of the last times I visited, as I approached the register, the cashier was in some conversation with her manager (I suppose). When I got to the register, I was neither greeted by either of them nor did they stop their conversation long enough for the cashier to attend to me and my order. I like that they (usually) have paper bowls by the (never washed) water fountain so I can give my dog water. The store is quite dirty. Take a look under any of the shelves. Don't look up (bird poop everywhere from, I imagine, the stray birds that make their way into the store). Finally, if I were the manager, I'd remove every item from the lowest shelves and leave that space as a "dog pee zone." Male dogs (not my beloved Harley, she's a girl) pee on items for sale on the lowest shelf. I love that my dog can come with me (she loves PS but only because she doesn't know better). John D. It was a terrible experience. I took my three dogs to get the works, which was abou 45 dollars each, and they did a terrible job. They neglected to fully clean my dogs ears and they cut the hair on two of my dogs' groin too close to the skin. As a result of the groin cuts, both dogs got an infection. I didnt notice this problem until four days after their hair cut had taken place. I took them back to Petsmart and explained what had happened. The woman who cut their hair admitted that she had made a mistake and was very apologetic. She called her manager and the manager expressed quite the opposite. He stated that the dogs should have been brought sooner and that the groin area infection was probably caused by a scratch the dogs had inflected upon themselves. I could not believe what i was hearing. All I was asking from the manager was to provide Vet services to take care of their infection, since they have a Vet clinic inside the store. He refused. It took 15 minutes and speaking very loudly in front of customers to get this manager to change his mind. Finally he agreed to have my dogs seen by the Vet, which took two hours, and after another intense argument paid for it. I dont recommend this place at all. They do a half ass job and they dont take responsibility when they do something wrong. read more
