Great place, nice staff. Whenever I go here I enjoy it. The staff is super nice and always helps me find what I was looking for. It also has consistently fast and friendly checkout, reasonable prices and a nice selection of goods. The store is always clean and not smelly. My boyfriend and I are on a mini vacation in Portland area. We wanted to grab lunch so we decided to enroll our tiny dog into doggie day camp. Which isn't something abnormal. He goes to doggie day camp 5 days a week while I'm at work at the Woodinville WA location. There is a night and day difference. We were hoping to have him stay for 5 hours, we picked him up after 2(we literally hurried our lunch up). The staff was extremely slow for check in even though I had paperwork filled out beforehand and had all my vaccination records(weird the records aren't universal cause he attends petsmart doggie day camp in Woodinville WA) but what ever that's not even my issue. My issue is staff not reading my dogs documentation properly and trying to tell me my dogs vaccinations aren't all there. Until a second person comes and shows them. Then that's not even the biggest issue: they have all size dogs and they aren't separated by size like the other locations he's been too. So we come to pick him up and literally see him getting run over by larger dogs and all. There were so many dogs(15-20) and one care taker who couldn't even play with each dog or show proper attention if he wanted too. (1 man can't handle 20 dogs) Literally mind blowing. I could have left him at the hotel(aloft in Beaverton is very nice) had I known that this was going to happen. Glad we picked up on the bad vibes and picked up our dog early. Corporate really needs to revisit this location. It sucks that we can't assume that the same care my dog gets at our home location, we can't expect at locations while we're traveling. read more

My very pampered boy ,yes my fourteen pound Chihuahua was seeing the same groomer for five year,s when she left. So i returned having another take care of my boy and i was not happy with that i was on the look for a new groomer Got a tip to go to Petsmart and got to actually got to watch how the girl's there handle our pet's ! yes your pet's are taken care of seeing the girl's get kisses from some .awww! :) will not go any where else. you girl's are great! One star is too many for this location. PetSmart used to be my go-to-store. But the service has really gone downhill at this store. We purchased a couple of items for our new puppy that we picked up in CA. The items turned out not to work for our puppy so I returned them after my return to OR. I had my receipt, the original packaging, and the new item. When I noticed I didn't receive the sales tax that I paid, I questioned the clerk. She had no clue so she called the manager. "We do not refund sales tax-you paid that to the State of CA!" Not a hello, I apologize because our store policy is . . . , just brusque. I politely question that PetSmart is a huge corporation and I'm surprised. She became imperious and I said, "I don't do confrontation but extremely curious to why Petco just refunded my full amount without question and would she like to see my receipt?" In fact, Petco offered me some other choices to products that would work. They took the time to be professional and I ended up purchasing much more. Again, she was condescending in her responses and her tone. Needless to say, I will never back back to PetSmart. Nor will I recommend them to anyone. Petco will be our go to place for our supplies. As a manager, I would have expect her to be more knowledgeable and professional. I do hope that is not the goal for PetSmart employees. She didn't set a great example for her employees. There was no common sense or apology from her. Perhaps PetSmart can use that non-refundable sales tax to provide more training for that manager. read more

Some of the groomers are truly nice and love animals but there are quite a few who work as a groomer just for money and don't really care about the animals. Some staffs behavior changes when customers are in front of the window. This is partially because some dogs need to be safely restrained and it can look distressing ( the animal is safe). Other times staff know they can't get away with some stuff they'd normally do. Managers push for pawdicures even when a dog doesn't need one. Yes the dremmels will leave te nails smoother and shouldn't be left on the nail for too long because it will heat up the nail and hurt the dog but you can just get them clipped. Some dogs do much better with nail clippers. It won't be as smooth but it can definitely be less stressful depending on the dog. As for the toothpaste they use. It's an enzymatic dental gel that you can purchase. You don't even have to brush because it will do the work for you. You can give it to your pup on a treat if you like. Unfortunately our furry friends aren't the same in the salon. They can go from super sweet to needed to restrained and put in a safety collar. Take this in mind when tipping your groomer. Yes they've lied about how good your dog was. They were snapped at and said your pup was fine because they want a tip. Let's face it. It's hard work: getting snapped and and excreting anal glands isn't exactly relaxing. Something else to take note of is your dogs behavior in the salon or on the way. If your dog won't budge there could be a reason. Wether it's separation anxiety, previous trauma at a salon, or the anxiety from being in a room full of mostly anxious dogs who aren't exactly having a spa day. I've seen wonderful people take their time with anxious and violent dogs and give them exactly what they need. On the other hand I've also seen people who are there for the money yell at dogs or pull on leads. Typically that's when you'd consider handing the dog over to another groomer or taking a break to let the dog ans the groomer relax. I don't want to trash groomers in any way. There are some who truly have the animals best interest in mind and love them as their own. I've also seen groomers be rough with animals and push add ones you don't need so the manager looks good. If your not sure about the add on ask them why you they think your dog needs it. Check for brown in your dogs ears to see if they need cleaning. Check for dry flakes of skin or shedding in your dogs coat for the furminator. If you have a double or thick coated dog (husky, Germán Shepard, collie, Australian Shepard, etc) 90% chance you will benefit from the furminator. The other few breeds that she'd like crazy that need them are labs, pugs, corgis, and pitbulls. If you see dry flakes of skin in your dogs coat that means that they need a moisturizing conditioner. Groomers are human. There are good ones and bad ones and the not so good ones put on faces for costumers. Let's be honest even the good ones are extra nice to costumers. Take reviews with a grain of salt. Please be careful with where you take your dog to get bathed and/or groomed. read more

Oh my gosh literally the worst service I have EVER got. My little dog started pooping on the floor and of course I ran over to the front to ask for a doggy poop bag and the old lady glared at me handed me the bag and then handed me windex and paper towels like I was her slave. I'm a nice person so I went over and cleaned up and I walked back over and handed her the supplies and said "thanks sorry about that." And she just grabbed it and didn't say anything to me. I took my Great Dane puppy here for a play date and I will tell you what I saw. There is too many dogs in a little area with nothing to do. They have 1 person in the room and when they tried to take my dog out for me to pick her up it was total chaos. Here's how it went the lady tried to open the door back there all the dogs ran to it she couldn't get my 85lb dane to go So she closes the door and tries again same thing. You can see she is getting frustrated so she puts a leash around my dogs neck not a collar a leash and proceeds to pull my dog. I lost my shit banged on the window and was like pick her up or use her harness I brought her in. So she opens door again and while trying to fight back all other 11 dogs finally got my pup out. I wasn't happy to say the least. So I wait about 15 min for her to get my dog to me. We get home and my baby growls at me if I get near her neck like to hug her or lay with her. She had never done that before ever. Needless to say they are over crowded understaffed and if I could give it less than a star I would. read more

Christine C. in the grooming department did a great job with my dog. He's very grumpy when it comes to clippers and brushing, so he had a lot of mats from that. My main goal for him was to be comfortable in the heat and she did a great job making sure all the mats were gone, she was very careful and explained about potential sunburns with such short hair on a white furred dog. I will definitely request Christine's services again. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this Petsmart and many friends, family members and neighbors also rave about this lovely Petsmart. They genuinely care for the customers and pets with dog trainers that remember our dogs names for years after their classes, doggy day care providers that always show affection and insightful knowledge of our pets that stay there. Special shout out to Ally who worked hard to train out pets in puppy classes. And Jessica in grooming that did an amazing Furminator treatment on our Saint Bernard (not an easy task) and the ULTIMATE praise to Leelynn in Doggy Daycare. One of many examples of the staff in Doggy Daycare, I brought my wild puppy in for a day at Doggy Daycare without making a reservation. They didn't have room right away, and I was on my way to work with no time to change plans and take my puppy home. Leelynn went above and beyond, seeing an opening in the grooming salon that bought time for space to open up at Doggy Daycare for me, and giving me the bonus of a clean, beautiful puppy when I picked her up later that evening. We recently purchased a pet fountain for our cat to use and unfortunately the water would flood the floor when turned on. I couldn't find my receipt but saw that petsmart offered no hassle returns and thought that I would exchange it and try something different. Kenny was the manager who rung us up and he was AWFUL. When I said that I needed to do an exchange without receipt he immediately talked down to me and said "wow no receipt and no box.. Do you at least know when it was purchased?" I didn't know the exact date and he said he needed to research into it. We waited about 3 minutes and he came back and had a few negative remarks before again leaving to do something else. About another 3 minutes later he came back and said "I'll do it for you this time but you need to be better about keeping your receipts".. I am so outraged. I am a manager at a $10 million retail location and I would never talk to my clients this way nor would I let my employees. He never asked why I was returning it and I told him that I didn't anticipate the product would break and he did not care and I quoted the petsmart return policy and he said " it's manager discretion" I will never go back to a petsmart location if management treats their company policy and customers with such disrespect. read more

Worst experience ever!! Cashier -168472 Trudy I've never been treated so bad by a cashier in my life! Worst customers service ever! I purchased 4 dog collars & 6 bags of dog food! I was so excited about the great deal they were having on dog collars I said i'm kind of curious to see if the prices match, She scans them ok they are more money i say no big deal..I'm standing there thinking to my self last thing I want to do is a price check... I don't want to be a one of those customers. That's to much trouble ... I said no big deal I will pay the extra price it's still a awesome deal !! Said it 4 times ! No big deal!! Trudy throws her hands up. That caught me off guard. Okay.... Whoa the mood changed in a hurry! I was in a great mood happy - excited about the great deals I'm getting .. to omg what the hell is happening here! She continues to to change the prices... I say really it's no big deal. I said they don't match maybe I picked them up off the wrong rack.. The cashier Trudy express how angry she is by now by shaking her head & looking around.. I'm not trying to argue with her -She's ready to bite my head off ! I wanted to abandon my cart at the register and walk out, but I stood there and let her continue to stand there in shock !! Whoa I'm I really experiencing this ???? Trudy was SOOOO RUDE to me! She tosses the collars in the bad & tossed my 6 bags of dog food in my little cart. Then asks me why'll she's pointing to the big dog bin of toys would you like to donate $5.00 or you can do less to a dog in need! Oh by this time I've been treated like total dirt! I said no thank you! That didn't go over very well ! She's like OKAYYYYYY.... another cashier comes over she turns her back to me and starts having a conversation with her & then reaches over and handed me my receipt & and in a very low voice says thank you... I couldn't even speak I said nothing I took my receipt and walked out to my vehicle and thought to my self what just happened to me !! Really what just happened in there! I'm a loyal customer I should have been treated with respect .... I was not!! If I ever talked to someone or treated them like that in my job I would be fired on the spot or worse . I've never ever been rude to anyone even if they deserved it! I usually just let it roll. If I pull my vehicle over and call the store 30 minutes after I leave! We have a problem obviously! So my first time coming in, my dog had a scab on his nose from a previous incident. When I alerted the groomers of this they wanted to inspect it and upon doing so, the groomer pulled down on his nose and reopened the wound. He started bleeding again and they told me I would have to come back. I made an appointment for a few weeks out at 8am on a Tuesday (which is half an hour after they open). It is now 1pm and he still has not had his hair cut yet. When I called to ask when they would be done they informed me that one of the hair groomers went home sick so they were behind. I decided to walk around the store while I waited and I saw two dogs other than mine being shaven while one of the groomers stood and talked with the other. It's sad to me that my dog was sitting in a kennel for over 5 hours while other dogs who got there after me were being helped. I will not be returning here. read more

My son and I recently came in to get an idea of what kind of pet he is going to want. It was after Christmas, so I imagine the selection was quite sized down. There were a lot of good sales and a few really cute pets. They have tons of fish. My son wanted so bad to take home the chameleon. He was clawing the side of the tank like "take me home!" He was so adorable. But at $60 and knowing how sensitive chameleons are and how little they enjoy being touched, I decided to pass. I worked in a pet store for quite awhile and those beautiful creatures really belong in the wild, they have a hard time surviving in captivity. We wanted to see more pets but I guess we will have to return. I really enjoyed the huge selection of fish tank accessories and options. It made.me want to build something awesomw, I love aquariums. We will return in a couple months to see if there is a pet we would enjoy having at home for Max, but until then, keep up the good work keeping the place organized and the customer service friendly. We just moved to the area and had used the Petsmart near our old home with no issues. But we took our Long Hair Chihuahua/Papilion mix to be groomed here and I couldn't have been more disappointed. It appeared they barely touched her! And what they did do was shotty. Uneven and didn't even cut the fur on her paws right. She had tufts of fur on her legs and feet that made her look worse than when she went in. She is a wiggly butt when I come get her so I couldn't tell when I picked her up. They said she was wonderful, but the job they did was terrible. I wouldn't recommend at all. I can pay about the same and have a professional groomer do a better job. Very disappointed. Kayla was the groomer that did my girl and I would stay far away. I did contact them to complain and my complaint went unnoticed :( Too bad since that is where we would go for our food and vet care. You lost us on this one Petsmart :( read more

Charged $80, prepaid, for a grooming and then didn't do it. Said the dog was too weak, but that's nonsense - just can't get traction on a stainless steel table. Put a pad under his feet! Groomers too inexperienced to know - just a kid with dubious training/experience. NOT RECOMMENDED. Research on Yelp, then take your dog to an experienced pro with a good rating. So I walked in to PetSmart to get Mazzy's nails cut. They took my name and said they would call me in 15 mins. So Maz and I walked around and picked out some toys while we waited. Well 55 mins later we walked back in to check back in because 55 mins is not 15. They told me they forgot about me because they were busy and did not check my in to the computer system. Well now they tell me that Mazzy's rabies shot is not up to date it expired in July. I know for a fact that it's been updated and of course my vet is closed on Sunday. Thank's for halfa## checking me in and forgetting about me It makes me fell like a valued customer. If it was done correctly we would have known that the rabies was not updated in your system and I could have went on with my Sunday and had my vet fax over the Rabies on Monday. Oh just so you know there was a nice fine Sub sandwich in my car that I had planned on eating while you did Maz nails that went to waste. Nothing like wet bread. I love that they have a space for adopting cats ALL the time, and everyone is always friendly and helpful. There's also a vet nearby, Bansfield, i think. The groomers are open til 9 and their classes for dogs are great. The kennels for doggy day care are spacious and they always keep it clean. They have a huge variety of pet hamsters, birds, snakes, turtles and fishes. And of course, the prices are very competitive. read more

I have been shopping at this store and also at the Tigard location, and I wanted to leave a good feed back because I think for pet lovers like me, is important to have this kind of information. I have to say that first I thought that PetSmart in Tigard was my best option, regarding customer service and friendly and helpful staff. But I noticed eventually that it all depended on which mood the staff was in that day or who was the one helping. Sometime you could find a very kind person but sometime you would instead find some very stressed out, rude or not knowledgeable person there. Most of the time they did not know all the necessary info about the various products. I then found out that at this location, instead, no matter which day it was, or which person was helping, they were all & always helpful, friendly, very knowledgeable about all products, ready to give you all the answers you needed, and extremely kind and fast in helping when I had to return an item that did not work, and also in giving advise on which alternative I could try. So I always come back here now. Even if you do not leave very close, I would still advise you to come to this PetSmart, you will always find friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff and the store is well stocked, they are seldom out of something. I used to work at petsmart years ago and can sympathize with the employees, it's a cruddy job and a lot of customers are pain in the you know what. With that being said, I'm insanely easy going and came in here to exchange a dog kennel and ask about doggie daycare for my new puppy. The girl at the front argued with me because I didn't have a receipt, and I exclaimed that I knew company policy because I used to manage a store. Ten frustrating minutes later, waiting for management and repeating myself, this was resolved. On to doggie day camp. It took them forever to find someone who could answer my questions, when finally I was brought an employee to talk to. He took one look at my pit bull puppy, who was only 3 month old, and said no pits allowed. I understand this is company policy and no fault of the employees, but this is such a ridiculous policy which supports BSL. I've since decided to boycott All Petsmart stores, switched my dogs to a better quality food which I buy at a pro pitbull, small local business daycare. read more

After 15 years of taking our cocker spaniels to Petsmart for grooming, we will no longer be using them. For all these years we have been taking them to the adjoining Banfield to have their anal glands released for a better quality of expression than most groomers can provide. This particular morning the Banfield was a little backed up but said they would get us within 15 minutes. I went to check in my dog at the groomer, let them know the situation and told them we would be right there within 15 minutes. Their initial response was that we could not check in our dog unless he was present. We then went back to the vet which was approximately 12 feet away. 7 minutes later they came out and said they no longer had time to groom our dog unless we had the anal glands expressed later. Anyone who ha ever owned a cocker spaniel knows that that leaves them with a terrible smell. Making the grooming a complete waste of money. I waited a few moments as I was very upset and disappointed and then went back in to also cancel our next appointment. I think of the thousands of dollars we have spent with them over the years and how little that meant to them. read more
