This was not the first time we've taken our 8lb. Toy Poodle to the Castleton location, but it will certainly be our last. We took Birsy to Abby M. for the first time, discussed what I wanted, even showed her a picture. When I came to pick our dog up she was basically shaved and looked sick, not anything close to what I asked for. She had no tangles as I just combed and brushed her thoroughly which is something we do at least 2-3 times a week, Abby confirmed that Bitsy had no tangles when she checked her in. I made my appointment online and as usual with no extras just basic wash and cut with nail trim, so it was already clearly specified what I wanted. Abby had extra time a day before our scheduled appointment so when she called we came in. Abby did ask me if I wanted any special shampoos, conditioners, nails, extras, and I said no just regular wash and cut with nail trim. When I arrived I was completely shocked at how bad our dog looked but I didn't want to be rude, not only that I was charged an extra fifteen dollars for nail grinding, a service I did not request. They took the charge off and I appreciated that but Abby persisted in saying she told me and that I agreed, I did not and we've never had Bitsy's nail grinded. Abby was rude and even told me I signed for it and that I should read before I signed the paperwork! Never have I ever been talked to like that at Petsmart and Bitsy is not my first dog taken there. Abby M. did an awful job, and had she been more understanding and not try to talk over me, I wouldn't be writing this review. I would not recommend Abby M. at the Castleton location at all. I can this say this I was not rude at all to her, even gave her a $10 tip which she clearly did not deserve. read more

My sweet dog Mellie - home girl got in a car accident and could not go out for a few weeks... so her nails grew longer than a diva Auntie named La-Vonda... I was like... this pup has GOT to get those nails under control!!! So I went to our regular vet on the west side and unfortunately the line was out the door and they said there was a 2-hour wait - so I quickly went up north to this PetsMart. I come for the toys, snacks, and shampoo products but never for a clipping. This location takes walk-ins until 8pm and so me and Mellie waltz right in! The staff was awesome and for $20 (paid $17 because of a special being run) we got her nails clipped and filed and her ears cleaned.... Totally worth it! Mellie did great and even got a treat for sitting so still! I think we will make this out official nail clipping place :) read more

I am long overdue in reviewing this Petsmart. This is my go-to place for cat food, toys, etc. The employees here are very pleasant AND there are usually pet food representatives wandering around to answer questions. My daughter and her husband bring their dog Pancho here for doggy day care when they are traveling and he really seems to enjoy his stays...he always gets a report card when he leaves :-) I recently came in to buy Royal Canin SO for my cat Rocky since my vet's office was closed. As I was checking out, I was asked for my prescription card. For cat food?! Evidently, I needed this, but the cashier was kind enough to just let me buy it and next time I'll either get the prescription from my vet...or just buy it at the vet's office since it is closer. But I really like this store...and it is conveniently located near Trader Joe's so I can do all my shopping at one time. My only complaint? I spend too much money here on toys for my cats...who just look at me distainfully when I return home with them :-) read more

I took my dog to Shannon's class for beginner training and cannot say enough good things about this class and about Shannon! Their groomers are good and professional. Never any issues with missed nails or nails left too long. Also have yet to have issues with them closing the grooming section early or turning us away because they are too busy, which, oddly enough, seem to both be frequent problems at other places. read more

This place is a joke. My husband made an appointment last week for our 2 dogs for today. He showed up today and the associate said oh there's only room for one. My husband said no it's for 2 dogs that's why I took this appointment so they could be done at the same time. She literally said, 'well too bad, there's only room for one." My husband cancelled the appointment. You won't get our business again. What a joke. It took a week to get a dual appointment. Terrible customer service. read more

I'm a total Petsmart loyalist! My baby Pasch-Pasch came from there. Precious kitty! I wanted to rescue an animal, and Petsmart pets come from the Southside Animal Shelter (at least at this location). I will forever be loyal to Petsmart for allowing me to give my little Pascha a good home. Even aside from that sentimental aspect, I still love the place. They have everything I could possibly need for my little animal, and I've always received good service. Whatever you need pet-wise, be it the pets themselves (fish, turtles, kittens, puppies, birds, hamsters, you name it), food, leashes, cat litter, toys, or any other supplies, Petsmart is sure to have it. It's also a fine place to gawk at other people's precious babies, since there are always dogs coming in on leashes. Awwww! read more

Worst groomers in Indianapolis! no joke both of my dogs were their from 8am till 4pm, and they didn't finish grooming our dogs because our older dog had gone to the bathroom in the cage over it's self(after 8hours of being locked up in a cage).Not to mention they groomed only the back of our dog no where els on the body. They then called us saying they had finished when we arrived they were no were near done. Long story short they sent us home with both dogs not even half way groomer looking awful after a full day of having them. read more

If I could give them a zero I would! HORRIBLENESS! I attempted to take my puppy there for pet DayCamp and they refused him. He's a mutt mixed with Pitt Bull and they said his breed is too aggressive. My dog is a sweet puppy and they did no individual temperament testing. Just stereotyped him. They have no problem letting me buy products for this aggressive breed. HORRIBLE! read more

This is normally where I take my Bella for grooming, and they are just fabulous. Yesterday, I took her in for her appointment. I was a little because she had a different groomer named Kat. Kat was great. She even recommended a shampoo and conditioner for my Bella. Bella has really dry skin. She helped Bella feel so much better. read more

This review is not necessarily for PetSmart as a chain, but this particular location's service and stock. I have been to many PetSmarts in Indiana, and this one is continually the best. Staff is always friendly, and I have never gone into this store without someone asking me if they can help me find what I am looking for. It's always well stocked, and if you have a PetSmart rewards card (not sure what it's called) you can get some pretty good deals. All in all, a very good and clean location despite being frequented by many (MANY!) pets! read more

Very pleased with my experience here today. I took both my cats (Mae and Boo) to get the groom bath service. I wish I could remember the lady that took care of them, she was super sweet and deserves the recognition! I was kind of hesitant to send my babies to a groomer for the first time, but it was definitely worth it! When I came back to pick up the cats she told me all the details of how both of them did the whole time while I was gone. I could tell right when she handed them back to me that they felt safe and comfortable during their whole experience, which makes me feel 1000x better knowing they are in good hands. When I got home, I could tell both of my cats felt refreshed and clean. They felt so soft and looked so much shinier and healthier. They even smelt good too! They lady told me they were so precious and didn't want to give them back. Definitely will be bringing them back here! Highly recommend her for all cat services! read more

Never will I ever call them for anything or even shop there again!! I called a lady about training my puppy who was only 9 months at the time. The lady asked what breed was she and I told her a lab retriever mix. She kept saying no pit bulls after I told her TWICE what breed is. And she kept repeating no pit bulls and hung up on me!!!!!!! WHAT does Petsmart have against pit bulls anyway?! It's the person who's raising the pit, NOT the actual breed!! I don't recommend Petsmart at all... much rather go to Pet supplies plus for my dog's goodies and Camp Bow Wow for training and day camp!! read more

My mom and I have been going to this Petsmart for years and have never had problems, until this last month. They had cancelled on me two times for personal reasons of their own, a third time because they FINALLY told me once i had already gotten to the store with my dog that his rabies shots needed to be updated, and now today as we were heading to take him to get his hair cut we call to tell them that we will be five minutes late due to traffic, in which they told us he could not come in today AGAIN. I went in for a cage for a cat we are fostering that was just spayed. She was angry with her liter mate so we had to separate. I found the cage I needed. At the register the cashier asked if I had a smart phone. I said I have my Petsmart card. She said if I found the cage on the website they would match price. I was looking to spend $100 and thanks to their wonderful help I only spent $50. That is great customer service! read more

Just went to this PetSmart today after booking a bath and groom for my newly-adopted puppy. While talking to the staff, I informed them that my dog has heartworm disease but is nearing the end of his treatment. They then seemed confused, not at all knowing the policy on whether or not they could bathe him. After they fumbled and bumbled around, they randomly decided it was against their policy. A very rude blonde lady (staff member) informed me that I should "have been keeping him kenneled" during his whole treatment. I found this offensive, seeing as though this groomer probably isn't a vet and I have taken him to AN ACTUAL vet who informed me that he is perfectly fine going about normal doggy activities. Not to mention, I wasted my time driving here when they could have put this disclaimer online and saved me the time and gas. Extremely disappointed. I would have taken him somewhere else but I have a PetSmart gift card. If I can't get money for this, I guarantee I will be going to a different PetSmart in hopes that the staff is less clueless and patronizing. read more

We have taken our dogs to many groomers, but we keep coming back to this place. The groomers are friendly and efficient, they do a good job with our schnauzers and they like dogs (that's a nice touch!). The store is in good order always - though they could stand to offer more cashiers so lines would go quicker. They also could allow me to just pay for the grooming in the salon - but no big deal. We keep going back because we get treated right at a good price. read more

My review is long overdue. The store overall is 4 or 5 star overall but because of my one experience with a dog groomer there and the effects on my dog, i'd like to give it a 1 star, but i try to be fair. My dog was very fearful of getting groomed. he was about 5 at the time, and he was groomed often , usually by same lady at my vet, and he always did fine. but i needed his hair groomed ASAP, so i went here. When i picked him up, his eyes were bloodshot and he was shaking, because he got so upset. after that, i was not able to get his hair cut anywhere, at the vet that i had always used, or a different vet that i tried. the vets said that he was traumatized from the experience. i had to resort to mobile grooming, and the handler there was able to do a fine job, and after a few times, he seemed to be less traumatized by gettting a grooming. i don't know if this groomer is still there but for my dog it was a life-changing experience. read more

This is a great place to go for any animal needs! We routinely take our shih-tzu in for grooming. Before we got this dog, we had an 16 year old Border Collie who had bad hips. I explained this to the groomer, and she was so kind to Gracie and helped her any way she could. One day when we returned, she was holding her until we picked her up. Of course we paid for the extra service for this dog, but she still went beyond being kind! Our new shih-tzu knows her groomers name and starts wagging her tail at her name. We feel very comfortable leaving her. All of the employees are so helpful at this PetSmart and we have had to ask several questions of them. They are very knowledgable and patient. There is usually an older lady at the cash register when you enter the store, who is so nice and always has a smile and is always interested in the animals that enter. I would never go anywhere else for my dog's needs! Great job PetSmart and thank you! read more

Don't ever take your dog there for grooming. My dogs have gone there for years and today I came early and what I witnessed would blow your mind. I know it did mine. I didn't say a thing when I was in the store because if I would have, I'm certain I would be in jail right now. If I would have gotten into an altercation with the groomer, I would have pulled her hair and slammed her head on the counter just as she had done to my dog! The way she was pulling on him by the whiskers and yanking him by the legs was inhumane. The only reason I even saw it was because I came early. It was only supposed to take 3 hours. After 5 hours I decided to head over. She was still working on one of my dogs. It's one thing to be stern, but it's another to take your anger out on a pet. That's what I witnessed. And, when her co-worker motioned to her that I was watching, she quickly picked the dog up and took him to the back. When I went in to pick the dogs up, she was all giggly and nervous and said, oh that dog was so wiggly that it was hard to clip his whiskers. I just took my dogs and left without comment. I'm so mad. I've been taking my dog here for the last 5 years for boarding, camp and grooming. Three out of the last five times he has been to doggie day camp, my dog has been attacked. Once again he was attacked after being put in the wrong class (asked for small dog class vs large dogs), he now has six puncture wounds on his face/head. When asked what happened, they stated he was so excited to play and the other dog got annoyed with it... And bit him... No apology, nothing... And to make it worse, they stated that the other dog attends regularly so it's not like him to be that way (which was the response when I asked if they pulled him out of camp and they said no)... Blaming my dog for being excited and being attacked when he wasn't aggressive, didn't bite the other dog or even react... They also stated that they tried to break it up with water and making loud noises but the other dog didn't let go... After five years of taking him there, I will never return... They do not do ANY type of temperament test, they just wait until a dog attacks another then maybe they do something unless they really like the dog then they won't.
