Beware of Lazy workers in the grooming section. I have a large breed that I usually bathe myself, but because of back issues I decided to bring my dog here for a bath. The place was clean and the staff seemed friendly enough. Everything seemed fine until we got into the car I noticed she still smelled. My first thought was what kind of shampoo she used. Several days passed and my dog was scratching profusely so that indicated that she was allergic to whatever was used to bathe her with. A week passed and I decided to give her a bath to alleviate some of the itching. As soon as the water hit her all this white stuff was coming out her fur with the first rinse. Now I know why she smelled the lazy groomer most likely used some type of spray on dry shampoo which also caused the itching. You really don't know what they are doing because the grooming takes place behind closed doors. Just beware when you pick up your pet and they only look marginally better and still smells suspect that shortcuts were taken and your dog was nowhere near water. Never again read more

Nightmare in the hood I took my blk cocker spaniel to get groomed . Tell me why when my fur baby was returned to me he was a dusty gray and flakey. I was furious and ask for the manager I explained to him the groomer did not bathe him she said she did he ask if I want her to bathe him again WTF she didn't bathe him the first time and no he's been tramatized enouh already. I did pay for the cut but anything that had to do with water , oatmeal shampoo and blueberry facial wash you can forget it . First thing Monday morning I called corporate office to file a complaint I stated to her this is not the first time petsmart pulled this mess the other store was located at the Long Beach town center.My advice to those of you out there check your fur babies becauses lazy ass wants full pay for a half ass job. Oh as of today 11/22/2014 no one from corporate office has contacted me. read more

Very pleased by the customer service I received today. My husband and I went to the store today and obtained great customer service from Francisco. I felt very well taken care of at my questions regarding my pets were taken care of I also was able to get assistance from the fish lady in the back she was very cordial and nice and attentive. I give this place a five stars for their excellent work thank you Petsmart I would definitely return. read more

Don't usually visit this location for my pets needs but today it was on the way and I decided to stop in. The exterior looks welcoming but the inside is lacking to say the least. They didn't have enough variety, or knowledgeable staff. If you are a first time pet owner avoid this location. Otherwise, come on get what you need and leave. read more

I brought my in laws dog in today for grooming. At first everything was fine. Once I found out that the groomer did not get there until 930, I asked why my father in law was not told that yesterday when he called and asked questions about the grooming and what time to come(they have been taking their dog here for years). She then became argumentative, saying we didn't have an appointment or set one up, and that they take walk ins. At this time I explained to her that I would have waited till 930 to bring him in, and she got a little attitude and told me "other people still bring them". She obviously missed the point I was making, that it would have been nice to know we had the option, but whatever, I'm not even upset about it, and it wasn't really her fault as she probably was not who he spoke to, but after that I just stopped, as I noticed her attitude and lack of ability to discuss things in a customer service friendly & professional manner is not something she is capable of. After a few minutes, she sets down the paperwork and tells me "I took him as a walk in, I didn't have to take him at all", and gave me a dirty look like she was waiting for me to say something. This woman should not be working in a public relations area, as if she gets that upset about a question and misunderstands something so easily, and will gleefully treat people disrespectfully and rude, she is going to be the reason people stop coming. read more

Brought my 2 dogs in for their grooming session. Loved that they were on time at 7am. Once you enter the salon they had the dog's names on the chalkboard. So sweet!! The staff were nice for being so early in the morning. One of the groomers remembered my dog and welcomed the 2nd newcomer. They gave me a good time frame and had a good vibe which made the dogs tranquil and not super nervous. They did a great job de-shedding our German Shepard whose coat was really excessive and shedding all over the place. He smelled awesome once he was picked up. Teeth were great. The smaller dog was given a "trim" after his momma trimmed his hair and hacked it up. I really didn't see the difference, but was charged for. He looked nice and groomed. But who doesn't look better all cleaned up? The noticeable difference was in his breath! Boy I had never had a stinky dog like this one. He has the WORST breath. They brushed his teeth so nicely and his halitosis is gone! It is pricey once you get the flea treatment and all but that should last them a good while. I just noticed after ALOT of charges on my receipt. I don't know what they all are/include. The other downfall I have to add is that the groomer that checked me in seemed inexperienced as far as giving suggestions on grooming my type of dog. We got him back and now after watching YouTube videos notice he didn't get a haircut. So I may look for another place. I also don't like that the prices are not clearly posted on a board, etc. . This visit was NOT cheap. So I feel I should see results. My husband picked up the pets. So he wasn't as concerned. But I am. I will do more research for next time. Overall if you go in for a wham-bam they will do wonders! But for a more specialized grooming they are working on it. read more

I have been bringing my puppy, Panda, an America pit bull terrier, to the Compton PetSmart since July 2017. The first appointment I setup the bather was assigned at random I assume. I was lucky enough to get Monique as my puppy's bather! She eased all my concerns as a new puppy mom and my puppy seemed to connect with her right away. After Panda's first bath I knew we would be returning. I scheduled Panda's next appointment, but didn't think to request Monique because I thought all of the bathers were excellent, this was a mistake. The bather didn't follow the requests I made when I created the appointment online and actually gave Panda a flea treatment I specifically denied when I dropped her off. This bather gave Panda the wrong bath and had to re-bathe her, which wasn't good for a number of reasons. Needless to say my second experience was a disaster and ever since then no one has bathed Panda except Monique. Panda is always excited to get her monthly bath and Monique is always sweet with Panda and gives me tips for keeping Panda clean and healthy between her baths. Monique clearly loves her job and loves my Panda as much as I do, she really is the best! I would highly recommend Monique to anyone who wants their dog to have a loving experience while getting cleaned at the same time. read more

To the Best Team Ever!!!! Thank you so much for your outstanding work. Today my dog suffered a seizure at the grooming salon before being groomed. The PetSmart Team jumped into action at immediately took him to a near by Animal Hospital. He was examined and treated at Affordable Animal Hospital on Long Beach Blvd by a team of Outstanding Vets and Nurses. I am so Thankful that Diego was in the care of PetSmart when I was not there. I will always be grateful to PetSmart for employing such loving, caring, wise, and amazing team members. read more

I came here to get my dog groomed. Super friendly staff and my dog looked great. I would def recoonmend this place to everyone.

The first experience I had was great with the grooming department I took in my dog for the second time and because of the time frame that it would take to get my dog groomed I had to cancel my appointment because I was pressed for time and the groomer didn't even bother to reschedule my appointment which number 1 is very bad customer service. The second time I took my puppy they wanted me to provide a rabies shot record which I had explained to the representative and manager that my puppy Was just turning 6 months and he had his vaccinations appointment set up for that same week and prior to that they had told me that because my dog was a puppy they didn't require me to show any vaccinations, and now they wanted to see his shot records.. I basically wasted my time & gas taking my dog to this pet smart for his so call grooming appointment. I ended up taking my dog to the Downey location with no problems they took in my puppy even waited an additional 20 minutes because I was running late and they had way better customer service.. Pet Smart (Compton) you guys need a better way in handling your customer service in the grooming department there is a reason why your yelp reviews are really low... read more

Went in today for a aquarium filter refill, walked in went to the fish section no one acknowledged me looked at some fish for a bit. There was a young lady there with a customer didn't say a thing which I was ok with since she was with a customer. Walked to the the isle where all the aquarium things are was looking for my filter refill which I didn't find but did see a good deal on a whole new filter. I was in those 2 isles for maybe 25 minutes waiting around for someone to come so I can ask them if they had any other refills available. Since no one showed up I had to walk around to find someone finally asked the same girl from earlier for some help she wasn't with anyone so I figured she'd finally be able to help me. She said sure give me a second was there still for another 5 minutes waiting on her never showed up so I finally just got a whole new filter and some other small items checked out and left... service was horrible... read more

This place is such a disappointment. I go here when I have to buy my dogs food but i would rather go to a different location. Employees are never available to help you and when you see employees they are just taking to one another. Last time I went here the cashier was just texting rather than taking my items, she was not even trying to hide it. read more

The groomers are terrible. They don't know how to handle dogs. Petsmart hires inexperienced girls to groom. The lack of knowledge these girls have will make your dog uncomfortable. They will blame your dog for making their job harder when it's their fault. Stay calm and the dog will remain calm. Please don't leave your animal with these people. Your dog will have a rough and stressful day. read more
