So two visits to this location; the first one all went well, as expected. The second visit couldn't have been more the opposite. We previously purchased the dirty dog discount card when we lived in Texas and went to pet supplies plus on a regular basis. We bought this card before moving and had never used it. My first trip to this location, I walked in, asked where the wash bays were, they pointed them out. I washed my dog, handed the card over at the register. They punched it and I left satisfied and the cashier gave my dog got a treat for being a good girl. This trip, since I knew where the wash bays were, I said hello to the cashier and walked directly back to get started. Got my dog inside the wash and started to prepare to give her a bath. That was, until a store employee came up to stop me and acted like I had infiltrated the Pentagon through a security breach. My "violation" was not telling them at the front register that I was there to do a self wash. This meant that they couldn't know whether the washbasin was scheduled to be used. Apparently, I also would've been given two towels at the front register if I had properly checked in. I apologized, asked them if they would like me to go upfront to start over but he declined my offer even though he was visibly irate and made no secret to hide it. Of course, no one else ever came back to use the other wash bays so the big concern about disrupting the schedule didn't come to fruition. In addition to making no secret of his displeasure, he also never brought the two towels that he indicated were part of the setup. Anyway, after washing the dog and going up front, they examined my punchcard and were very happy to tell me that since it was purchased in Texas, it would not be allowed at this location. I told them this was my second trip here and I had used it successfully in the past and they asked for a description of who it was that allowed it. Since this happened a few weeks ago and there was no drama, unlike today, I obviously didn't bother to memorize the appearance of someone who was just doing their job for approximately 15 seconds. As I was driving home, it struck me that if they cared at all about their customers they would've offered to sell me the new wash card, which would've been a substantial discount over what I paid for the single wash. I guess this store gets to be the winner today for not giving me the towels, getting full price for the wash, and not offering a treat to my dog. I hope the $10 of extra profits are spent wisely. I will try the Huntington Beach location, hopefully it's a different owner with a better customer service philosophy! read more

My mother has gone to this location for before and it's been well. However today just a while ago we ventured in to purchase a harness for our dog. Once we entered there was an associate who was tending to another customer(at the entrance) , which was fine, however, when another customer came in right behind(just a few seconds) us the associate greeted them and even step away from the current customer they were assisting, greeted the customer that came in seconds after us and even assisted them. Taking them down the aisle with harness, still didn't even attempt or bother acknowledged our presence. As though we didn't exist. Then returned to the previous customer assisting. My mother and I, who are African-American, left understanding we were not wanted nor welcomed in the store and nor our business. It's unfortunate because enjoyed going to the store to get harness for our dog and always fit him perfectly. So this lost for our dog and we don't taking our business elsewhere we're we know it will be welcomed and accepted. read more

Hey, so I'm a Pet Supplies Plus advocate and have been, through and through for years before I even moved back to California. My pup and I would frequent the Dallas location of Greenville because that was within walking distance, so I've been a member ever since I got my pup. So with that, when I moved back, I was so excited that they had a location here because since I was in Texas, I'd purchase the self-service dog wash esp since I'm a nurse who was in an apartment with bad drainage, the dog wash was so convenient for me. So per usual I purchased a dirty dog discount dog card as I have at this particular location many times before, however this time was the first and only time I lost my dog wash card. I was only able to use it once and that was when I first purchased the card. So I came in today asking if there was anything I can do about it and found out they weren't able to do anything about it and the guy who worked there that I spoke with mentioned something like the reason why they couldn't replace my card was because then people would get free washes etc., in which it kinda made me upset inside although he was the nicest he could be about it because I live by integrity and loyalty. I don't go to any other pet store and I'm quick to brag and advocate for Pet Supplies Plus, and the members there even know me and my dog or at least my dog if not me (lol and it's usually that way with dog people anyways). However, I am just not a fan of this policy because from experience from Texas all the way to here, they ask me for my number every time they would stamp my card and I assumed for tax and business purposes, for the sake of not getting audited, you'd think they'd log the amount of times one uses their dog wash card esp if it's a series. So I assume now, after today's conversation and their lack of ability to replace the card, they just get your number as a formality opposed to actually logging the amount of times you use it. And although this time I was very disappointed, disappointment doesn't mean denied, as my dog and I are still very loyal to this establishment as they're the only ones who offer self-service washes. I would give this policy a 0/10, a highly do-not-recommend, as far as misplacing your dog wash card. Now I know it was only about $45 something but it's still my hard earned money down the drain, and still have a smelly stinky dog. I just wish they could just look back in their system about my purchases and log the usage because we are so loyal to Pet Supplies Plus. So long story short, I have never lost a card but life has happened, and I guess I learned to never lose a card although it wasn't my intention. Honestly I'm not even mad... I'm just really sad about it. I couldn't even attempt to prove a point about spending hard earned money there. I just walked out really sad that I couldn't give Bino a bath, and held them in high regards to honor our loyalty to this store particularly this location. read more

This is my dog's home away from home. I always take her here to browse the aisles, pick up her favorite food and treats, and give her a bath after we had fun hiking or running on the beach. The self-service wash is the best deal in town. With a Dirty Dog punch card, you can purchase five washes for $40. There are four types of liquid soaps available at each station, and the stations are always clean. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and I have gotten to know most of them. She looks forward to these visits too, and she's always well-behaved when she's in the store, never grabbing at any toys or treats off the shelves. Pet Supplies Plus is a godsend! About 8 months ago, we took our beautiful husky to get groomed with a professional groomer, who works out of his house to make extra money on the side. Well, this was a major mistake. He cut open our husky's paw and we had to rush him to urgent care and after almost a $1,000 vet visit, this officially became the most expensive grooming session of all time. Moral of the story is, take your fur baby to a spot that's insured or just do it yourself. We've decided to mostly stick to the latter and Pet Supplies Plus makes it super affordable for us to groom Frank in their grooming area. Prepaying for grooming at 50 bucks buys you 5 sessions. Best deal in town! I also do a little shopping for treats and food and if you follow their instagram account, you'll see a bunch of awesome deals that change all the time. I'll start off by saying I am a loyal shopper at Pet Supplies Plus. I have a 4yr old mini English bulldog that I purchase Dr. Marty nature blend for ever since he was 12 weeks old. Anyone familiar with the brand knows it's very expensive compared to other dog food brands. A single 80oz bag costs me $150 that I purchase every 2 weeks, so at the very least I expect to treated with kindness. Every time I shop at Long Beach store, there is an older woman with a nasty attitude who claims to be the assistant manager. She's rude, argumentative and walks around the store like she has a chip on her shoulder. I presented a valid coupon in store that I discovered on pet supplies plus IG and instead of her politely notifying me that this particular store doesn't honor all coupons, she demanded I show her my cell to prove where the coupon came from, refused to type the code in at register and started an argument. Keep in mind this isn't my 1st encounter with her, she always seem to have an attitude while on the job. I'd also like to add that I have met the owner of this particular store once who was in fact a very helpful and polite woman. I bought chewable allergy medicine for my dog. It was $50 and was recommended by the store clerk. I told her my dog is very picky and might not take it, she reassured me that I had 30 days to return it. Well my dog wouldn't take it and when I tried to return it the manager told me that medication can't be returned. I told her that the store clerk told me that I could return and the manager said "Oh, she's new, I'll speak to her about it". I asked if I could get store credit and she refused. I started coming here after I bonded with the cashier at the local Chevron about our dogs and what we want for their life etc. We both have some puppies that have breathing issues and specific diets, so when he mentioned this place I had to come by! Pet Supplies Plus is a chain, kind of like a small Petco/Petsmart and I hope they continue to expand. Here you can get all of the food you can't get at Petco and Petsmart, AKA the better brands... I recently got a puppy and when I tell you I spent months doing research, even going as far as taking canine nutrition courses online. I want to give my dog the best life possible and that is not realistic by feeding Purina or Hills Science diet. Basically, anything local vets (that aren't holistic) have on display is not that good. It also depends on the dog breed and size, sure, but ultimately all dogs are dogs and their diet is what will dictate how long their life is and the quality of it. But to each their own! I don't care if you feed your dog Purina PRO PLAN, I won't. So the good brands of food like Open Farm and ND Farmina, to name a few, are always in stock here. I usually swing by and grab what I need and have never had an issue with something being out of stock. You can also arrange pick up and pay online if you're shy. The prices are great, they always have some sort of sale going on! I would sign up for the rewards system because most of the time members get a cheaper price that what is stated online. Not only can you pick up some goat milk and deer antlers for your pup, you can give them a bath at the self service grooming station. Everything is always so easy, you will never be looking for an employee walking endlessly like at those other big stores. The staff are also VERY knowledgeable, the way it should be!!!! You don't know how many times I asked for help and suggestions over at Petco and they didn't know anything about dogs. They just worked there. The people here have and love pets, and know a lot about different breeds and diets. I love this place, and highly recommend it if you've got a pet and want to feed them some good stuff. Been here a couple of time to pick up aquarium supplies, and the store has always been stocked with whatever I needed. I'm a fish newbie, so I really don't need much and most of the time I don't know what I need. The several times I have been there, I've been greeted either with a smile or some sort of acknowledgement. It's a small shop, but there is much to be appreciated. Groomers are located in the back as well as the self-wash. Appointments can be made online for the groomers, and I was told they're usually booked several months in advance. I was quoted $60 for full groom for my long-haired chihuahua. At least that's the breed she was labeled when I adopted her. Not bad pricing for a 25-pound dog. Self-wash is $14 a session. Had the worst experience ever! I had called to let them know I was on the way at 6:35 to wash my dogs. We are very busy health care workers and only had time right now after our shift. We got there at 7:02 and they said 7 was cut off. So we missed it by 2 minutes only because someone recommended this place. They were so rude and said "no we already sanitized" so basically just because we had a husky and didn't want to re sanitize.
