We come here for the more hard-to-find products for our cat and dog. Love their "buy three, get one" sales on a lot of the canned food, and their selection of dry food is unmatched! They even sell Smalls, which I've had trouble finding at other pet stores. Their toy selection is shy of huge stores like Petsmart, but still pretty extensive. Like others have mentioned, the location is HUGE and beautiful -- seems to be kept up well. There's a wash area with about six available stations, and a large scale by the registers which is very convenient. And of course we love to stop and look at the adoptable kitties in the back. This is a helpful store to have nearby for pet owners. I shop here occasionally when I take my chihuahua for her nail trim at the Booster Pet Clinic they host each Saturday at the back of the store. They have a large variety of food as well as other pet products. I usually purchase boxes of stews with meats and vegetables that my chihuahua especially loves and dog sweaters that have fit her well. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. read more

They will even deliver if you order online - which I haven't tried yet, but totally I intend to. Good variety of high quality products, always have some kitty grass by the check stand. We just got our puppy a few weeks ago, and we've been shopping at this location for all our puppy needs ever since. Everyone here has always been super nice and helpful, but this time, one of the staff members--Charlie (I apologize if I'm misspelling her name)--truly went above and beyond! We had Peaches with us, our English Bulldog, and not only did Charlie kindly ask if she could say hi to her, but she also asked if Peaches was our first English Bulldog and offered to share some tips. Let me tell you--what she shared was absolutely priceless! She gave us such valuable information about food, training, and common health concerns specific to the breed. I love this place, especially for in between grooming appointments. You can purchase a token for $18 or purchase 3 and get one free with a little pouch for $54 for a self- service pet wash. They have water repellent aprons and disposable aprons (if you ask) You are given clean towels and a leash to use in the tub. They have a range of different soaps, a rinse cycle and a a dryer. I believe the wash/dry is a total of 20 minutes. I use their shampoo and bring my own and shedder brush.. If your fur baby slips away from you,, aside from calling for help, they have a button to shut the doors so they won't get out the store. . Clean your fur baby and they clean up. I love that this place is right next door to a Trader Joe's! I can kill two birds with one stone haha. This place has some treats that I can't find in the 2 major pet stores. Plus, they have a pet bathing area that is operated similar to a carwash place i.e. coin operated and the time ticks. It's very well kept and shout out to Alex! This review is for the self pet wash. It is $18.00 for a pet wash for 25 minutes which is a lot of time. You are provided a towel, soap and apron. With the time you are provided, you can use 2 different shampoos, which I should of done (Vanilla and eucalyptus) to wash your dog and use the dryer to dry your hound. Went to spend $18 on the self wash bc I have a border collie type dog with long fur so i needed somewhere that can dry him well. They have a good attachment to the dryer but is wildy annoying to hold bc it will literally POP OFF with the dryer. (but it's a good attachment so i see the value in it). We've gone many times because of this, however, today, The plastic part of the nozzle fell off. I had to hold the tube, nozzle, and nozzle attachment for a dog that's also refusing to get dried. I understand the attachment popping off because I CHOSE to ask for it and didn't have to use it, but the literal blow dryer plastic piece too? I asked the worker if there's anything she can do but she said no (idk how management is, it's not her fault it's broken) I had to even go on the stairs to try to get a better angle so the blowdry will even work. I spent almost $20 for a tube of air and a wet dog. They could have moved me or something but that was unacceptable to just let me figure it out on my own. I should not have to be fixing AND paying to use this equipment. Yea i could use towels, but then why did i spend $20 for? i have towels at home. read more

I came here for a dog adoption event that was organized with Ozzie and Friends. They have a back room that they use for events like this. There is also a clinic in the back. And an area that is gated so that we could interact with the dogs and learn a bit more about their personality. Since they partnered with them, when I adopted my new puppy, they gave me a 10% coupon that I could use. So I got a new harness and some training treats for her. They were very helpful when I had questions about which training treats I should get. It been a while since I've had to train a puppy so it was nice to get some advice. I came for a physical check up and we ended up doing multiple exams resulting in $500+ BUT since it was my first time, I got a 50% discount and ended up paying $310! I didn't get the employees names, but the young man that was working tonight had the excuse "it's an old system " when the bath sprayer on shower mode barely put out water. He finally gave me the option to move to another bath, where that sprayer was even worse, spraying all over, yet no one checked on us. The young woman there did her job, but didn't seem to give a care whatsoever. After the bath I talked to the manager Jeff, who offered me my money back for the bath, but didn't actually care about my experience or feedback, ask which baths had been a problem, or show that my business was at all appreciated. So unbeknownst to me my dog peed while standing in the checkout line... an associate walks up to me with this commercial size roll of paper towels and spray and say I will hold your food while you clean that up. I was puzzled because I didn't know she peed and I thought it was extremely RUDE to tell me to clean it up. Never have Petco, Pet Smart & groomers made anyone clean up urine while their dogs let go in the store; however, associates approach you so fast saying they got it, it's okay etc. NEVER have they handed you paper towels and told you to clean it up. I asked the lady at the register was that normal portal and she said YES because they have to keep the store clean. Well that's obvious but to tell me in the manner I was told was rude. If I had seen it first of course I would have told an associate and not just walk over it. Then after cleaning it up the associate tells me they have gloves . I'm a dog mom not a big deal but this whole thing made me feel a certain way. Working in a pet store this is expected and that should be made know during the interview process that they may have to clean up after pets in the store. This location is in Long Beach and it is in the same plaza as Trader Joe's and a gym. I've been here several times and I've had nothing but good experiences here. We come here to buy JustFoodforDogs (wet food) brand, and Kiwi Kitchen (Air-Dried food) for our fur baby. It is a requirement to wear a mask upon entering the store. All the employees are very helpful. The several times I have been here, Pam has been extremely helpful and patient with our questions. She is honest about what she has used for her fur babies and what worked and what didn't and also gave suggestions on other products that she has not tried with her fur babies but may help with ours. Our fur baby has seasonal skin allergies and we wanted to try another JustFoodforDogs option. Our fur baby has been eating the lamb and venison options. Pam suggested the Joint & Support (pork) and the chicken option from that brand because the lamb and venison may be causing the itching. Our fur baby stopped itching so frequently after giving her the pork and chicken options. So thankful we had Pam assisting us during the times we have been here. We also bring our fur baby to the VIP Pet Care Community Pet Clinic that is located in the store. We've been bringing her here for several years now for her Heartworm test and for flea/tick medications. This clinic is open Tuesday to Friday 2:30PM-7PM and Saturdays 12-5PM. Since COVID, the Heartworm test is still on a first come first serve basis. You can call to reserve your spot in line or if they do not answer, you can leave a message to reserve your spot. They only allow two pet parents total (two people whether or not from the same family) in the waiting bench area. Due to protocols and safety, they will call you to update contact information, pet medical history, and the results of the tests/services.
