The two girls that greeted me and helped me were very cold and unhelpful. I was called by one of them earlier in the day and asked to come in early. When I get there I bring my dogs rabies tag and I tell them where to call that has records of his shots. They tell me they can't get ahold of them and cannot help me after making me wait 20 mins after I was asked to come in early. The guy that was supposed to help me was super nice. But the two women I had to deal with made the experience horrible. read more

I have been to this PetSmart 3 times and the first two times wasn't bad but I wasn't too much of a fan. TODAY Chloe was with a new groomer and I'm very much a fan and will be only scheduling with Mercadies. Chloe seemed to take well to her which made me very happy. The ladies this morning were so kind and patient with me as I was having a hard time trying to explain what I wanted for Chloe's hair cut. I'm still sitting in the parking lot, fuming. I understand that they close at 7 today, but I literally COULD NOT get here any sooner than 6:55, and my pregnant cat had her litter over a week early....I needed to get several items but the store employees followed me around as I frantically tried to locate the items I needed. "We're closing in 3 minutes!" "You have 2 minutes now sir!" "You have less than 60 seconds or we won't be able to ring you up!" And turning all the lights off at 7 on the dot. Like please, I've had all kinds of retail jobs, I know that's not how things work. You don't treat customers that way, especially seeing as I wasn't just lazily browsing or asking to get some fish. I also asked the employee where I could find one of the items I was searching for, as it would get me out of the store faster, and she just spat out an aisle number when she could've just as easily and much more helpfully led me to it! Always a long line (and usually only one register open). Their policy of only accepting physical prescriptions from their in-house clinic is maddening. I didn't have my Rx card from them with me but did have a valid Rx from MedVet but they still refused to sell me food and it's too late now to get to Petco. If they require that the Rx be written by their clinic the least they could do is keep that Rx on file at the store. I don't know how this policy benefits anyone. Most of the staff are kind and helpful, the store is clean, and always well-stocked; but today I had an interaction with a clerk that has me thinking I'll take my business to a different location. At checkout, the clerk asked if I wanted to donate to their food drive. I told him "not today," to which he picked up the can of food in question and held it up to his face while making a pitiful expression. Still making said expression, he said, "For all the poor little animals," to which I chuckled uncomfortably and tried to continue paying. As he was bagging my products, he said, "We have to take care of these little guys," and that's what really set me over the edge. I told him that I know they're in need, but I'm having trouble paying for my own dog's health issues right now. The whole thing was wildly unprofessional. He did not apologize or acknowledge that he'd just shamed a customer whose financial situation he did not know. This filthy and smelly place does not deserve any stars!!! I walked into this mess last Saturday afternoon on 5/25/24 and OMG, I almost passed out!!! The nasty smell hit me first and i almost gagged!!! I couldn't believe how a place like this conducts business and everyone should be fired!!! Pictures speak a thousand words!!! The poor air purifier was less than help with the undeniable smells. Thick clunks of hair was piled in one area & other balls of hair scattered throughout the entire place! I could tell that this place hasn't been sanitized at all!!! One of the cashiers and myself called out for assistance several times and no one answered nor came from the back area to help me. It seems as if the nasty so-called groomers just left the place for the day & didn't give a damn!! I can only imagine what these people's living quarters look like!!! The purpose of me going inside the grooming area was to simply ask a question but lo and behold, I am so very glad that I have not ever used this place as a groomer and will never bring my pet there to be subjected to this terror of a mess!! DO NOT GET YOUR FUR BABIES GROOMED HERE! Look at the photos I added of my golden and you will understand. I brought my 1-year-old Golden in today after I made an appointment for a Furminator brushing, bath, trim, and nail grind. I told the groomer it was my first time having him groomed and I didn't know exactly what to ask for, but that I didn't want his hair too short (I designated a 7 on their scale) and only wanted his feathering trimmed. I specifically said: "just trim his feathering. I want him to still look like a Golden!" Well, just look at the attached photos. I was shocked when I saw my dog. His fur was way shorter than I asked (which the groomer admitted he used a shorter cut to try to "even it out") and SO CHOPPY/UNEVEN. It looked like a small child found a blade and went to town cutting his hair. THE GROOMER COMPLETELY SHAVED OFF HIS LEG FEATHERING!!!!! BALD! The long fur behind my dog's his ears was still all matted up, and he didn't smell any better than before, so they clearly didn't even bathe him. To make it worse, the groomer tried to make it seem like it was normal. He told me, "this is what we do here." He also said, "well I've had to groom worse" in reference to his behavior. How unprofessional! Also, my dog came sprinting out from the holding area with no leash, no collar, and some girl chasing after him. These people are not professionals and have no idea what they are doing. The male groomer did not care at all about my dog or what I asked him to do. I am LIVID! The manager of course did not make me pay after she saw the grooming atrocity. She was nice enough and tried to appease me, but I still regret ever bringing my baby here. I came in with my family looking for a flea dip product for a stray cat we took in that had kittens. According to the internet, it's the most popular and best working product available for "over the counter" use, but no one in the store had even heard of it. No big deal, we'll just look somewhere else, right? But on the way out we passed by a display including a miniature dog bed tent on the floor, like a big dog house meant for camping. Before I could even think, my two year old had, of course, climbed inside. Of course, I immediately reached down to get him out because I do not have a burning desire to have my baby play in dirty pet store display but before I could even say his name the nearest cashier ran over and started barking at me about how my human toddler was going to damage a piece of equipment meant to be used by Great Danes. #1 if you don't want kids to get into your little tent, probably don't put it where they can get to it because it is literally the first thing a kid is going to do. (The cashier even mentioned they'd been pulling kids out of it since they placed it there. Um... maybe take that as a sign to move it?) #2 if my 22 lb. child can so easily damage your "rugged", outdoor adventure tent, it's probably not going to hold up the the 75 lb. animal it's meant for and it is therefore expensive, useless garbage. Y'all get two stars because your aquarium section is pretty cool but y'all are seriously lacking the the common sense department. read more

G'day fellow Yelpers and Yelpettes! I started going to this PetsMart on Gaston not long after they first open. Staff was always helpful with finding anything, or helping out with any items to my car. Well campers that has gone out the proverbial pet door! Last two trips to this location here is how they went. Trip 1 - As the checker was starting to well,.. check out the items she didn't think to get another cart to load the items into from the one they were already in. So I get another cart to reload my items. After all items are checked out she asks is that all. (NO OFFER TO HELP LOAD ITEMS INTO MY CAR AT ALL!!) She immediately goes back to playing with her tablet like she was when I came to check out. Trip 2 - Same bat time, same bat channel. (Old Batman TV series reference for those of you who don't know.) No offer to help or get another cart to load the merchandise. No thank you for shopping with us either,. Incidentally I spent twice the amount on this trip. They were not busy I was the first person in line on trip 1. Trip 2 same experience. The ONLY reason I go here they usually have all of the pet products I need. As always..your mileage may vary. It was not a pleasant experience at all. They charge you way more than the quote you are given over the phone. They don't care about false advertising for the price the charge. The goal is to get you in and then find matted hair on your puppy or dog and then say it will cost $7-14 more money. I was not happy because I set an appointment with the information of the price of haircut would be $40 but they changed on me. So I got my dog and left. So people please don't believe the phone quotes .. expect to spend at least $50 for haircut (for me that is too much) for basic cut! And also the manager there was not so customer friendly .. she made it seem like I was at fault instead of owning up to the false information that was given. Also it's always busy in there so don't expect to just drop puppy or dog off and leave. You will need patience. But overall I did not like the service and feel it could be much better. And that starts with management making sure Employees properly explain how prices for haircuts are determined! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. This was the WORST experience I have ever had. From the beginning when I walked in, the customer service was terrible. I believe the guys name was Irving.. when my dog accidentally peed on the floor I told them she had peed and he just looked at me and he rudely replied "well we don't have any paper towels" then just stood there and stared at me. After I signed the paperwork and told Arlene how I wanted my dogs hair cut she told Irving to put the leash around my dog. He told me to take her collar and leash off that was currently on her, as if there was an issuer. As I was trying to take her collar off and was having some trouble, he had no intent to try and help. When I got a text message to come pick her up I was so excited to see what her new cut looked like and let me tell you this, it was FUCKING TERRIBLE. I paid 70$ for something I most definitely could have done myself or even had a toddler do. Arlene did such a bad job I can't even put it into words. I paid extra for her to get the best service and it was far from that. She also was supposed to get a bow in her hair and that didn't happen either. I am highly disappointed in the service and I recommend NOT to try them out. I felt as if all the staff didn't wanna be there and you could definitely tell they shouldn't be grooming dogs hair. So two weeks ago we took Cowboy to PetSmart on Gaston for a bath and groom. They said he fell off the grooming table and "hurt his little leg"!! They took him to their in-house vet at Banfield. Examined, soft tissue injury, prescribed rest, rimadyl, gabapentan (sp). Went back today because he is still gimpy! Treated like shit!! Refused to treat him until I provide his shot records! WTF!?! My dog has been itching uncomfortably ever since he got home because some parts of him are almost completely bald. When I pointed the unevenness and shorter length, they were not apologetic at all. It can't be that hard to get some more help at the front. I recently purchased EXPIRED puppy food from this store for a second time round all buyers beware of any pet store to check that all products are within date, this product really had upset my fur baby with nasty smelly diarrhoea. I returned it to the store for a fresh bag. No apology. No Refund. All I got was I don't know how that even got through our doors?! Hmmmm someone clearly isn't doing there job properly or rotating old stock for the new! Luckily I managed to help my pup without having the vets involved and this morning his stool is back to its healthy self. Just making everyone aware of my experience. I'm so disappointed in this location. I really wanted them to be a new welcome addition to the White Rock area but after the experience I've had with them, specifically the grooming salon, I will take my business elsewhere. Bottom line if you were thinking of using the grooming services of this location, go somewhere else. Our appointment to have our dogs bathed and groomed were cancelled b/c someone didn't show up. The rescheduled appointment was then a bust because their groomers did not contact the vet for vaccination records as they indicated they would. Come on guys!!! This isn't rocket science its pet grooming. All in all it was a frustrating experience with this new store and one which convinces me that management still has a lot of work to do to get it right. A staff that doesn't double check its work and expects its customers to deal with the consequences. That just won't work in this area. One day, they may get it together, but until then I will take them somewhere else where I may pay a little bit more to get the job done correctly. read more

We took our 3 large breed dogs to get baths and nails ground. We made appointments over the phone and everything was great. The guys working were polite and very friendly with us, and when we picked our dogs up they had made some new friends with the groomers. Quality of wash was great, and they did a excellent job with the nail grinds as well. Our dogs are not easy and not always the best behaved, and everyone was super nice and accommodating! My cat had signs of worms at 8:00 pm one night so in a panic, I searched for cat deworming on the website to purchase and pick up. I get it's very last minute, but I'm a panicky cat mom. I rushed to this location to first. The cashier said my order wasn't received yet. Ok I get that, whatever. We mosey as slow as possible to the aisle where it may be and it's all sold out. Not the first time I've come to a Petsmart for any kind of pet medication i.e. Flea drops, vitamins, etc, and they're just out. She tells me I can just "go to the Greenville location. We go back up to the front and she "can't find the Greenville location's number" and her personal cell is dead so she can't google it? This store is staffed by the absolute best people. Super friendly and excellent examples of customer service. They greet my dog by name! Dog Trainer Patrick knows his craft and goes above and beyond to see that the dog and owner succeed in training. My dog is amazing because of his training help. Training is worth every cent I paid! The staff has saved me lots of money by making suggestions, pointing out sales and offering coupons or the great savings in the puppy package. I have not had a need to use the grooming salon but I see lots of smiles as the groomers work. Even the receptionists at Banfield are friendly. A+++++. read more

For what is considered the Lakewood/White Rock location, this sure has a ghetto feel to it. You walk in and it feels so dreary. They dim the lights or something, because the other stores are usually so bright and cheerful. I should've trusted my instincts with this place. I booked a bath for my pup, and they said she was missing her rabies shot. I called Banfield - the people that sits literally 45 feet away - and they said they would walk it over prior to my appointment. The morning of the appointment, they never walked it over... so the guy walked over there to get it. It is baffling af that they don't share a system. Anyway, while he left us there, my puppy started whining. I know she hates baths but we've dropped her off at the groomers before and she would still comply. He had to literally pull her leash while I pushed for her to go. Of course that broke my heart but I thought nothing of it. They called a little under 2 hours later to tell me that she is almost done drying but her face is still pretty damp so they will finish that up. He said she should be ready in 15 and that he will call back. Well, he never did - but I was busy so I left it alone. Finally an hour and a half later, I decided to just drive up. She was still wet in her face, but I was just happy to see her that I said nothing. They gave me the bill - without taking away the new customer $15 that was mentioned over the phone the day before. The girl didn't know wtf I was talking about and said "Oh maybe this coupon? But it's only $10." Again, I left it alone because she had no shred of motivation in her body. While I waited for her, I saw that a guy was trimming another dog. The poor guy was shivering. I would've thought he was scared except it was cold in the room and he was shaved to almost nothing. I thought it was pretty damn shitty that they keep the room for the employees to be extra comfortable but not their actual customers. To top it off, my pup was not as soft as she usually is after a bath. I don't believe they used the conditioner that I paid extra for. I had a grooming appointment set for my dog on a Sunday at 12:30pm. When my dog was at PetSmart grooming on Gaston they called me saying that my dog's mouth was bleeding (which in the years that I've had him that has never happened) they told me they will send him to the vet to get check out. The vet then called me to let me know they didn't find anything wrong with him. Once I got off the phone with the vet someone from the grooming department called me to reschedule my appointment because they said it was too late in the day to start on his haircut. I asked her for an appointment for the following Saturday and it had to be early in the morning because I had plans for later on that day so she put me down for 8am and said he should be ready around 12pm so I agreed to it. Saturday came around and I dropped off my baby at PetSmart grooming at 8am as scheduled by the person over the phone. 1pm came around and still no phone call from PetSmart letting me know that my dog was ready so I called them to check up on him. I asked the lady that answered the phone how he was doing which she extremely rudely replied with, "he's not ready yet! his appointment was for 12:30!" I then explained to her that the person that called me the Sunday before scheduled me for 8am on Saturday and that the 12:30pm appointment was for the Sunday before. I asked her what time she thought my dog would be ready at and AGAIN very rudely replied with "his appointment was for 12:30 he will be ready when he's ready!" (my thought was if supposedly his appointment was for 12:30 why did they take him in at 8am) she then handed the phone over to whom she said was the manager and again I tried to explain the appointments to her aswell which she replied with they had another pet in there with the same name as mine so they confused the 2 pets and the appointments, she admitted to it being their mistake. At this point I've had enough disrespect and decided to pick my dog up even if they weren't finished with his haircut. I show up to pick him up and the ladies up front told another lady in the back to grab my dog and she asked them who I was picking up which one of the ladies up front replied with "the goofy looking one". I went in today to pick up stuff for my cat, and brought in my little chihuahua. when checking out, the cashier was very sweet, but then my chihuahua peed a bit on the carpet and her whole demeanor shifted. I told her and apologized. she then said "uh okay. you can get one of the spray bottles over then and spray it, then let it sit and wipe it down. actually I'll wipe it down." it caught me off guard, because as someone who's worked in the service industry, caretaking industry as both a nanny and a kennel tech, and retail, I would never ask a customer to clean up even if it was their accident? I did it because I did genuinely feel bad and knew she still had someone behind me to take care of. when I was walking up to spray, I overheard the lady behind me in line and the cashier talking bad about me and they abruptly stopped when they heard my approach. when I was leaving I said, "thank you!!" and the cashier responded "mhmm..." I do feel embarrassed to be even writing this review because I'm grouped in with every other angry vengeful spirit, but the rug was already extremely dirty and my 8 lb dog piddling a bit on a rug that I'm certain plenty of other dogs have peed on is not anything that was deserving of talking bad about me with another customer as well as an attitude. take your money to small clinics and stores that will not make you feel bad for accidents or tell you to clean up after your dog, like the one I used to work at! also places that actually have knowledge and care about your pets! read more

The worst customer service in the pet hotel I have ever experienced. I had made the reservation two weeks in advance and SPECIFICALLY asked what vaccinations were required. Then I too my dog to the vet to get the bordatella booster like the lady said. When I took my dog in, I had to wait about 10 minutes just for someone to show up. Then after much discussion the two people there decided that since the distemper shot did not specifically say it was a 12 month shot, it must have been a 6 month shot and they could not take the dog. By then my vet had closed and we could not verify. If they had been quicker to process me, they could have checked (it turned out to be 12 month). My real disappointment is that they seemed completely unconcerned with turning me away- no apology or explanation - just "too bad!". Complete jerks. I have called this location back to back weekends to try to get our dog's nails trimmed and they are always short staffed and tell me RK come in during the week. We work during the week and have a hard time breaking away. They need to increase their grooming staff. You should be able to get your pet's nailed trimmed on a weekend.
