I find this petsmart the messiest they always have inventory all over the isles that makes it hard to walk with ease but the prices of pet food are lower than Walmart. I had my dog bath, nail clipped brush teeth the works and the girl did a wonderful job cleaning my dogs eyes. Update: The district manager that didn't exist per the store manager called me back. He was a really nice guy and wanted to see what happened. We spoke about a half an hour. He wanted to find out how to correct things and how to correct things with his staff. He made things right and I appreciate his efforts. read more

My roommate and I love taking our dogs to get groomed here. The grooming staff is amazing. The store manager is not. My roommate's dog got hurt by a groomer, and when we spoke to him about it, he tried to play it off as something we might have done. He lied about calling back when the check came in and when we got it and requested that the groomer not work on either of our dogs, he commented about us needing to make sure not to schedule with that person. We were not happy. Thankfully the grooming manager made us feel better and made it right. She was amazing. The groomers overall are wonderful and accidents do happen. Not upset at all over that. Just wish the store manager knew how to talk to people. He was awful. The grooming team is amazing and their manager and the other managers and employees may roommate spoke with were helpful, understanding and went above and beyond to make it right. I can't say enough good things about them. read more

Since moving out here from Yorkville we found the DeKalb Petsmart is wonderful. We only had good experiences here in both grooming and exceptional help when we started an aquarium. The two employees that helped us spent so much time with us (even after we bought everything) and answered numerous questions about the fish and keeping the aquarium healthy for the fish. They really know their stuff. We also brought our dog to Manuela for a nail trim and she even offered to clean up his eyes and face a little. She did a great job and was very patient with my senior dog. I'd recommend her highly if you have an older dog. read more

The managers here are wonderful, and I truly wish I could give a better review or separate them from the other service and experiences I have had here . I have dealt with two of the managers here, and found them both to be very professional, reasonable, and friendly. If there is an issue with a product, they will do what they can to help. One of the managers here is very knowledgeable about bearded dragons, and was a big help when my boyfriend and I bought ours here. The store also offers a great selection of products, and is generally very well kept and clean. The points off are primarily due to the other staff, and concerns regarding the care of the bearded dragons here. My boyfriend and I have had trouble of getting help with crickets or finding items in the past. I am also concerned with how well they take care of the pets here . On one occasion, we noticed a dead baby bearded dragon in the tank and notified an employee. On our next visit, over a week later, I believe I saw the exact same dead baby dragon in the tank, but placed over the water bowl, so it appeared to be drinking. I believe it was the same one because it was in the exact same position and size, and it wasn't breathing either. I hope this wasn't the case, and find it particularly disturbing, as we bought our baby bearded dragon at this very store. read more

I have been bringing my pet here for several years and since I have a walking issue the groomer has ALWAYS come to my car to carry her in and brought the required paperwork for my signature to my car. This morning I was told company policy required that I walk back to the grooming salon to sign the document this morning. Manager said its always been this way???? Really??? I have been here a few times since we moved as my dog used to be groomed at Petsmart in Downers Grove and they were awesome. Not the case for the DeKalb location! I brought my dog early on a Saturday morning and two staff were there, when I returned in 2 hours no one was there. 15 minutes later the girl who took my dog walked into the store, clearly from a break, saw me and immediately got my dog from the back and finished grooming him. Who knows how long he was alone! My dog is only 17 lbs and no others dogs were there that morning and yet it still took 3 hours! Will not be returning. The 2 stars are only because his haircut looked pretty good. read more

I have used this salon several times in the last 6 months Liz has groomed my puppy Chloe every time she is incredible ! She always treats Chloe like she is her puppy remembering her by name and treats her very lovingly. Her nails are alway trimmed very short and she always smells and looks great . Three times I have tried to schedule a bath and haircut for my dog here. All three times the grooming department called and canceled the day before telling me the groomer called off. Prices are ok and if you need a few items that are basic, you'll probably find it. Every petsmart has different groomers with varying skill levels. This review is based on the grooming services at the DeKalb location. Unfortunately we have yet to find a groomer who can trim and grind black nails for our pup. We finally gave up and stopped going. Even with the savings from various coupons and promotions, it's still worth it to go somewhere else and have them actually cut properly. read more

My dog is 10 pounds and it took them 4 hours for a hair cut to which they went against what I had said and completely shaved him. They also completely forgot to call me when they were done! I finally went back in there before close and asked if he was done. They said he had been done and they were sorry that they had forgotten to call. Worst hair cut and service he has ever gotten. I am also hearing more and more stories about dogs gettin abused at this particular grooming salon. I will never take him back again. read more

On July 5th I took a chance and took my little dog "Rocky" to petsmart grooming salon because my regular groomer was not open over the weekend. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE!!!! I had the unfortunate timing to get an appointment w/Pat. When I brought my dog in Pat seemed to care and listen about how I wanted my dog groomed. He asked me how short I wanted his hair I said "I WANT HIM SHORT BUT NOT SO SHORT THAT HE'S BALD!" I left my dog "Rocky" with him for 3 hours, got the call to come back to get him and when I saw what Pat had done I just want to cry & scream at the same time. I think he knew that I was not happy by the facial expression because his response was" I think we need to use a 7 instead of a 10". I have no idea what that ment but I think he ment a blade number. Then he proceded to charge me $49.00 for the crappest cut ever. I paid it because if didn't get out of there I would have gone off and it wouldn't have been parity at all. I went home and cried and talked to my husband he wasn't happy either. I called to talk with the manager Criss and at first she offered a discount for my next visit to the salon, I told her there WILL NEVER EVER BE A NEXT TIME! Then she offered the refund which I took, but I took my dog with me so she could see how awful it was. She agreed w/me and apologized. I honestly think that they need to do something w/Pat. They either need to send him back to a better grooming school or fire him. I will NEVER trust any groomer @ Petsmart in Dekalb IL, and if anyone asked me I will advise them of my experience and suggest that they go to Huckleberry's in sycamore IL. I brought my dog in to get groomed last week without an appointment, as he is my first dog and didn't know appointments were encouraged. The whole staff was very friendly and even took the time to show me everything I need for in between grooms. Hailey did an excellent job on his haircut and was very patient with Monty (hes a tad spastic). I will be coming back to this salon! read more

I went in recently to get a haircut for my dog. I had no appointment, but asked if they would take a walk-in. It was 3:25 pm at the time. They told me the next appointment they had was at 4:00. I was not upset they wouldn't take the haircut but I then asked can my dog get her nails grinded which is like a 10 minute procedure by the way. One woman was cutting a dogs hair (was not expecting her to do it obviously.) The other young girl said no I have an appointment at 4:00. I asked well it should be like 10 minutes right and got no response. I then complained to the manager over the phone who basically said he did not believe me and said there must have been a misunderstanding. He did NOTHING to resolve the issue. I then complained to corporate and big surprise they talked to the guy and he called me back a few days later. Offered me a top dog package which is like getting the dogs teeth brushed and a bandana....I am not a I want a free good/service type of guy but this attempt to resolve the issue was insulting. I don't know when I am going back for another haircut but hell the food is still cheap enough. Bottom-line: Treat customers with RESPECT!!! If some employee wants to sit on there hands and not work then fire her or don't do haircuts. read more
