Our dog is a double-coated Pomeranian, and we have always been very specific about her grooming. On a previous visit, she had a few severely matted areas. Before removing the hair in those areas only, the groomer called and asked for our permission to shave them and we agreed. This time I brought her in and asked for the same basic short trim and clean-up she normally gets. Scott said that she is matted underneath and he will try to comb those areas out. When I picked her up, I was shocked to see that he had given her a puppy cut which is basically a shave of her entire fur and hair leaving her coat extremely short. I was never asked for permission and I would never agree to this because Pomeranians are never supposed to be cut so short. Any good groomer knows that the hair and fur might not grow back the same like it was. I was so shocked I literally had no idea what to do. We've been using this groomer for more than 20 years with all of our dogs. When I asked him what brush I should use he picked up a brush and said we already went over this like he was trying to school me. He was so aggravated at doing his job. Also, they charged me $95 for shaving her which is totally ridiculous. Because of their lack of communication and horrible attitude/customer service I strongly suggest to be very cautious about getting your dog groomed there.

As far as I could tell there was only one person working the floor, but he was friendly. Con: the only con I found here and unfortunately it's common amongst most pet stores is most items are catered to dogs. This isn't to say that their cat selection is small, it is a pretty decent size but the options still felt somewhat limited. But on the bright side I did see a sign that stated "more cat food coming soon" so that's promising. I'll have to come back to check on the new inventory updates!

I walked in the door and there was a medium sized OFF LEASH dog following someone around about ten feet from the owner or employee, not sure. I asked to leash the dog. They said "oh don't worry" then I said my dog is not safe around off leash dogs. Not true but I don't trust people who feel that off leash animals in a pet store are safe. This is beyond unprofessional. The store employee told me not to worry about it. Um... what? Maybe this is an Illinois thing? I don't know this dog, mine is on leash. That's not a safe way for dogs to meet. So basic. I should not have to ask- in a pet store to put a dog on leash. I proceeded to ask where the leashes were ironically, and really felt uncomfortable - I was interrupting a conversation between two employees or an employee and a customer (person in purple scrubs who looked like they worked there.. I'm really not sure, but after having to insist that I did not want to bring my dog in with an off leash dog, the whole experience was pretty terrible. Honestly, I'm so disappointed. I look forward to going to the store every time I visit the state and I will just find another one. At minimum I should feel like my dog is safe while I shop. Oh lastly I asked to use the restroom and was told it was out of order, and they did not have a public bathroom - meaning that they had a private one that we were not able to use. Which seems fine unless of course the public one is out of order. No suggestion of an alternative. I can't believe I drove 45 minutes to go to this store. The store itself looked pretty bad. Most of the shelves were half empty. They had some cute toys, but I'd say 50% of the hooks were empty. So much for supporting small businesses. At least at Petco I'll have a bathroom, dogs will be on leash, and someone who works there might actually help me find what I'm looking for.

Everybody on staff is always so friendly. We utilize them for daycare, grooming and boarding. We love that we're able to check-in via text for a pup-date during boarding. We are so glad that they are adamant about up to date shots for the safety of all the pups who visit. We highly recommend this business.
