They need better groomers! Horrible experience. I asked them to keep water out of her ears bc she gets ear infections if it gets in. I had to take her to vet 3 days later with double ear infection. Her back paw nails were cut so low she is bleeding. Do not go there. I called and spoke with manager who stated the employees go through tons of training. Obviously they do not know what they are doing. $200 and a sick dog later, I will never return. I caution all pet owners to avoid this salon. read more

They charged me $6 more than the price shown in the app. When I questioned it they says it was because it was a holiday weekend, since it was the day before Easter. When I pointed out that I was not notified and they can t just change a price without letting the customer know they got a manager. Who again explained it was because it was a holiday weekend. Then ch she'd her story to say it's not because of the holiday all weekend pricing is more. If that's your policy you should inform the customer and not let them know AFTER the dog is groomed and ensure holding it in the back of the store. Another horrible policy. You have to go the salon in back of store to get paperwork then go to front to pay only to go all the way to the back AGAIN to get your dog. Ultimately the manager gave me the $6 credit but the way she spoke to me was so wrong. She was getting loud and condescending. Rather than bring it down she escalated further. Explaining the policy over and over again doesn't help, especially when the policy isn't the real issue. The problem is changing the price without notice. The icing on the cake, my pup was still damp. Her fur wasn't even dry! Lastly, they didn't even give my pretty fur baby a bandana or the pretty barrettes on her ears like they always do. Took our dog for a nail trim and grind today as we always have done. Apparently now they have changed their policy and use a Choke leash to take your dog in, instead of the leash you bring. My dog has only ever worn a harness and has never been led by her neck. Well my dog was scared and the girl proceeded to DRAG my dog by her neck choking her. So I obviously ripped off the leash from my dogs neck WHILE SHE WAS STILL PULLING! I asked her to carry her because she was too scared to follow and she said that was against the rules. (My dog is 15lbs) For some insane reason I still let her do her nails which came out fine. Everything happened so fast and after replaying it in my head OVER AND OVER, we have decided we will never be going there ever again. Change your new policy PetSmart and train your groomers to not DRAG frightened dogs by their necks. To add, my dog is extremely sweet and well behaved, she was genuinely just scared of being pulled by her neck. read more

The salon has really gone downhill the past few years. I've been bringing my dogs here for a number of years, but lately, when I bring my dog for the walk-in to have her nails done, they tell me it's a half hour wait...so much for a walk-in. I understand waiting a few minutes but a half hour seems a little much. So I decided to make an appointment a few days ago online and after I dropped her off, I was told by the groomer it would be 2-3 hours. Three hours later, I still didn't hear anything, so I decide to go up and see what's going on. I get there and she's still not finished, over THREE hours later, the groomer was still cleaning her ears and spritzing her with the scent. I asked why it's taking so long and I was told that they were busy today and that there was 6 dogs before mine. Why the hell do I have an appointment? This morning I left my dog Rocky at Petsmart in Farmingdale for Doggie Day Camp. He usually comes home happy and I stay for a few minutes after he goes in and look through the glass to make sure everything is okay. Whoever the girl is who worked around 11am this morning saw me come in, took one look at my dog through her window and mouthed "Oh no no no" and looked terribly upset. I said to the nice man who is always at the desk that I wanted to know what the issue was and he assured me that she was not saying that about my dog, must be something else. Then I watched as he went in and she immediately started yelling, shooing the dogs and stomping her feet around them, spraying them with water. Her look of disgust with my dog and scaring him with her stomping, following him around really pissed me off. Once again I said to the man that she definitely does not like my dog and I am not comfortable with her there. He went to talk to her through some window they have about it and when he turned to leave she mouthed something and flipped him off with both fingers. When he returned I said she flipped him off and asked what the issue is. He said my dog is a "humper" and she was trying to get the other dogs away from him. He then put another associate into the room. I went by later without seeing anyone to make sure my dog was okay. There was another associate, male, who seemed fine. The woman from this morning is absolutely awful, miserable and obviously doesn't like her job or her boss. I am going to take Rocky to a different location if she continues to spend any time around him. Brought my puppy here for his first day of daycare and he left with a wounded paw and with a cone around his head. The staff were very good with keeping us updated throughout the day. They called and told us right away when they noticed that my dog had been hurt while playing with another dog and had a hurt paw. At first they assured us it was nothing to be concerned about as it wasn't bleeding and my dog appeared to be fine. A while later we get another call saying that my dog seems injured from the bite and that they are taking him to a nearby vet to get it looked at. They brought him to the vet and had the vet call us to update us on his injury. He needs antibiotics and is going to be in a cone for 10 days to avoid licking his injury. While the staff were very good at keeping us updated, I'm very upset this happened to begin with. I don't believe there was appropriate amount of supervision during the play, as the vet informed me that they had told her they didn't see what happened and just heard my dog yelp. Overall, not a good first time doggy daycare experience and will not be bringing my dog back here. read more

My dog really needed a bath yesterday and we couldn't find anyone that could fit us in. But Farmingdale was able to fit my dog in for an appointment on the same day! So my family and I brought my dog to the store and we went to the grooming section, and Nikhar took him into the bath place and he was done quicker than I expected! He was the only person manning a register and needed to transfer me to someone less busy. After another few minutes on hold, I get another person and start explaining. He stops me, tells me the return policy is two months and boasts how awesome they are it's that long. There was zero empathy or willingness to help. Instead, I'm left with a destroyed $50 harness that's less than a year old and he thinks I'm going to buy another from them? He is upfront of how long the expected wait is, which i appreciate. I've been taking my dog Charlie here for the last 3 years for his regular haircuts and grooming needs without issue. Unfortunately, the last visit didn't go so well and I doubt l will ever bring him back. He was cut pretty bad and no one even had the courage to inform me. Awful experience. Went for grooming salon. I had reservations for 4 dogs and brought them. They refused to accept 2 dogs because they are too early. When I explained the situations IRVIN insisted that it's not safe to keep them in kennel.. (Not sure why they have kennels..?) When asked for manager, he said he's basically the manager here and that I can talk to him because manager is away and he knows front and back of how things go around here(He said this five times... haha) Okay, but here comes the real surprise. The groomers have always done a great job on our dog here. I find it a bit pricey, but the results are consistent and our dog seems happy to go there. As for the store itself... i find that it's usually well stocked and the prices are usually slightly less than the other major pet chain by a few cents. They also offer doggie day care and have a pet hospital and pet boarding hotel as well. The doggie day care always has a bunch of dogs having a fun time. I'll usually stop and watch them for a few minutes during my visit. The staff keeps the area clean for them and it always looks like they're having fun. The bathroom here has been decently clean the few times I've used it in the past. I enjoy walking through the bird and reptile area. Always interesting. Overall, we continue to come back for grooming and pet supplies. It's our go-to pet place. :-) read more

When we picked up our dog, he looked unrecognizable, as if another animal mauled him. Jessica did not apologize for the horrendous job she did on my dog instead, she laughed and aggressively defended herself. Jessica V and her fellow team should be ashamed of their unprofessionalism. When I picked up my dog, Jessica had shaved off my dog's fur and did not bother to shape up his coat leaving behind uneven patches of fur. I did not give any permission for my dog to have his fur cut so short! My dog seemed as if he was unwanted as I received no apology or offer to fix the mess they made on my dog. He would threaten employees jobs over blatant lies made up by other employees, has told employees to their faces that he does not care about the safety of the animals in his store, that all he cares about is making money off of clueless customers. I've been bringing my dog here for grooming for 4 years and never had a problem until the last time. The groomer called me saying my dog was accidentally cut and they were taking her to the vet next door and she will call me back with more details. She called me back and I started asking questions about the cut (how deep it was, where it was, etc) since they said she will be needing antibiotics for a week. Well her whole demeanor changed. She was rude and very curt with me like I'm the one who did something wrong! I couldn't believe how nasty and unprofessional she was. I really loved PetSmart (Farmingdale) however lately the grooming department has really been careless. I took my dog for a simple bath (no grooming) because I didn't want to cut his hair. The person that gave him a bath didn't brush underneath so he became matted! Which resulted in me having to bring my dog back and shave him which the store manager gave 50% off and I thought that was nice. However during the grooming they burned my dogs paw and didn't think to tell me. I get home and see my dogs paw is red and irritated! This review pertains primarily to the grooming services offered at this PetSmart location - simply put, they do a half assed job every single time. As new puppy owners Wifey and I began taking our pup here for nail trims and repeatedly discovered that they just weren't cut short enough, but the price was decent and they're five minutes from home so we went with it. Earlier this week our little girl was in need of a bath, nail trim & anal gland expression. Again, the price was right and they were able to take her right in. The workers are friendly enough and listened to my requests but you get what you pay for I suppose. Upon getting home we discovered her nails barely trimmed, and she was still having issues discharging from her glands. At this point we feared she might be impacted and so we took her over to the vet. The vet took one look and told us nothing wrong just needed to be expressed - so now we needed to pay for it twice because PS didn't finish the job. Oh, and he also clipped her nails since they were too long in his opinion...a day after they'd allegedly been done here. Needless to say they won't be getting any more business from us in this area. We may buy supplies here if in sale (regular prices are absurd) but that's about it since they can't be trusted to provide the paid for services read more

I made my first boarding reservation with PetSmart Farmingdale, the reservation was for 2/16 into 2/17, I asked for the latest pick up time available, the reservation representative told me 8:45 PM would be the latest pick up time. When I went to PetSmart on 2/17 I arrived early at 8:00PM to find out the store location was closed. I called the reservation team where they confirmed my pick up time was 8:45 PM. The store closed at 7:00PM, last pick up was actually 6:45 PM. No one from the hotel attempted to contact me or the 3 numbers I listed for contact in regard to early closing. Instead a customer care representative offered me a $10 coupon. I was unable to get in touch with anyone inside of the store. They explained that there are 24 hours of care for your pet and even when you call the number there is a menu option for speaking with someone to find out how your pet is, they don't disclose that after store hours that the night time "is not allowed" to answer the phone, which actually leads me to believe there is no one there because even corporate customer service tried to call, so I'm just curious in the wake of an emergency who can we contact? All customer service was able to say was we're so sorry but there is nothing we can do. I explained to them that I live an hour away from this location and I chose it because of the area I was staying overnight in, so today I had to call out of work, stay another night and pick up my dog this morning. When speaking to the manager in regard to this she explained that this actually happens often and that they just roll over the next night without contacting the customer and the expectation they just pay the second night. She also stated that because of the holiday weekend that it was impossible for anyone to notice the mistake of pick up time. Then the district manager I spoke with actually disclosed with me that there is only 1 person who stays overnight with all the dogs being boarded. I'm not sure how many rooms there are but the amenities of the hotel are - 2 15 minute walks and check in on your pet every hour for bathroom break. I'm not sure with just 1 person on staff that that can be accomplished. read more

Making an appointment was easy, check-in was a breeze, and they finished within 3 hours. They let me pick him up with the invoice so I could pay on my way out instead of having to pick up the invoice, pay, and come back for him. He looks fantastic and seemed happy when I picked him up :) Their online appointment system has not been working, which is one thing that definitely would have made this even easier for me. I brought my dog Dolli here for grooming on 6/2/2021. I did not want her hair cut very short; but was advised she needed a certain cut, not aware of what that meant. Her groomer was Larkin. Hard to recognize my own dog when I picked her up. She's a Bernese Mountain Dog and was completely shaven in such a spotty manner down all legs; and left with a razor burn on her butt. Imagine having a hair cut and left with a bald patch with burned skin. I rubbed her chest accidently with my arm and pulled it away with a smear of blood; again from a razor burn. She's been here before with 2 good groomings and 1 that was okay; but this was the worst. She is not coming back hear. I can't imagine the stress she suffered. I now have to treat her razor burns. read more

I was so nervous leaving for vacation because one of my pups was on a lot of medication and I couldn't imagine anyone else caring for her. Petco grooming department had my dog for 2 hours. Which is very unusual! Three days after my dog was groomed she started to smell horrible. I paid $64 dollar's for the Furminator groom as always.
