Not only are both sitters, Emma and Christine, lovely people, they handled Edna in stride. They are awesome about sending texts after every visit and give me updates and details so it never feels like they're just checking a box. Christine has been our go-to and she's just awesome...noticing things like new food bowls and finding nice things to say about my salty Edna. I always look forward to her texts when I'm away. The owner, Jena responds to requests immediately (even when she's on vacation) and never has a problem with last-minute schedule changes. Overall, the level of service is truly exceptional - I highly recommend Newman's if you're looking for someone to take amazing care of your pets while you're away.

My 8 week old puppy entered their "Puppy Start Right" program and immediately became accustomed to being handled, trained, and exposed to a lot of household items... crutches, canes, wheel chairs, hair dryer, grooming shears, extension cords, pots and pans. He became a very confident happy puppy quickly! However... the best part of that experience was what the trainers taught ME as the puppy mom! They taught me to always give my dog, a choice, never force him to do something that he is adverse to doing. They taught me about positive reinforcement. They taught me that always carrying my dog around is actually hindering his development, and that I need to allow him to be a "big dog" even though he talked out at 10 pounds. We continued to the adolescent program and I truly enjoyed the 4 weeks of daily day training, and Satchel loves his trainers! We were treated to a end of session handoff meeting, where we were taught how to continue teaching him the good manners, and the good behaviors that we all like seeing in a well trained dog. It was wonderful to be able to see him interact with his trainer. His trainer answered all our questions. In fact, it's important to know that every single day I took my dog in for training, I would greet a trainer who would ask if I had any questions. I knew that this group of fine humans loved my dog as much as I do, if not more at times. It is wonderful to see how satchel behaves in public, how he handles a leash, and how he behaves at home as a confident, young puppy. This center is very careful to not over populate their staff meaning they only take on a safe number of dogs that can be taught properly during the amount of time. Their facility is extremely clean my dog had access to water, food, treats and enrichment at all times. Satchel really enjoys the obstacle courses, and now he is currently being trained for the canine good citizen distinction. I really appreciate the fun activities like Easter egg hunts and group walks that allow me to interact with other dog owners.

We started out as a complex case due to Bernie's reactivity towards other people, a variety of objects (mainly those with wheels), hyperactivity, etc. We learned how to keep Bernie under his threshold so he gets to practice good behavior as much as possible. We went through his Babies Don't Bark course and Bernie is now the best older brother to my one month old! I never would have imagined Bernie would be walking next to a stroller or staying calm by lying off to the side when people/dogs pass by but sure enough he's doing it...still with lots of cheese to motivate him :-) Mike helped us get anxiety meds started, which has made a big difference, and has normalized wearing a muzzle! I won't sugar coat the amount of work and patience it takes to keep up on training but it's been worth it. Mike is so responsive in emails (within hours of asking a question) and has lots of YouTube videos and books to help owners. Training a dog is a life long experience! Last year I felt overwhelmed but now I have a better understanding of how to help Bernie in different situations so I feel in control. Kind of a big deal for all of us. Roughly 5 minutes after he is dropped off we're called and told he is too difficult and needs to be drugged for future services. Any time he has been to the vet, he is compliant. A little nervous but easy to work with. He wasn't given a chance. Lack of customer service or care. If you simply cannot handle servicing a dog, state that. I'm ashamed. I've never had such a terrible experience for grooming with petco before. I've had difficult anxious dogs in the past who were taken care of extremely well by petco groomers who handled their anxiety and were able to create a safe and comfortable environment.

Beyond the Dog uses only humane techniques that have been approved by animal behavior organizations. We were not sure what to expect from a trainer but we desperately needed help with our two smallest dogs. We had trouble with barking, reactivity, and aggression so we signed up for the executive program. IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. Our trainer Ally changed our lives! She made a wonderful connection with both dogs. They hate when people come over and have never felt comfortable around anyone but us but you should see them when Ally arrives! They completely love her. She has worked with them on not barking, going to their place when people arrive and staying there, and walking next to us calmly outside. My family keeps commenting on what different dogs they are now. We are all so much calmer and happier! Word to the wise, you as an owner also have to be involved. Once the program was over we had to keep up the work in order to maintain all the progress she made.
