This review is based off the condition that the betta fish are in. I only added a star because the staff is friendly and I consider this a manager and corporate issue. 90% of the bettas looked like they were about to die and a few with few obvious swim bladder disease. The cubbies they are kept in are even gross and covered in dust and grime, filthy. The water in the little cups is murky and looked like they haven't been changed out in a very long time. Last year I did adopt a betta from here and it looked healthy. After three days in the new tank (fresh, clean, cycled for a week, and tested the water) it suddenly had ick. I only came into grab a tank renewal solution for my tank. I can't in good conscience continue to support a business that takes care of their living product in this manner. If you're going to sell live anything, they should be kept in comfortable conditions as possible until adopted. Even if they are just betta fish. read more

This is the only pet store I will come to within Marysville and Arlington area! The staff is always so friendly and always greets you. I come here for my son's gecko that needs crickets and for my conure bird that needs her bird seed food and treats as well. When I go to other pet stores it takes around 15 minutes just to get crickets or I just get ignored so I will just leave. Here they take care of everything right away. INCREDIBLE customer service. I've taken my dog Charlie for a bath about 5 times now and everyone from the groomers to the front of the store are awesome. I feel comfortable taking my dog here, which is a huge plus. Charlie is an elderly dog with arthritis issues and dry skin. The groomers went above and beyond to make sure he was okay during the whole time and gave me a free express wash so he wouldn't have to stand to long. Super sweet!! read more

Brought my 13 year old yorkie and my 10 month old puppy in. I was called back because my puppy was being aggressive. When I got there I could hear him screaming in the back room. Christina, who was grooming him proceeded to give me training advice and her personal opinion about when my puppy should be fixed and that the Vet is all about money if they won't fix until 1 year. She was argumentative, rude and would not let me get a word in edgewise. My older dog who is a dream to groom was even upset on the ride home which has never happened. So unprofessional! I always took our dog for grooming for about 5 years now. This time it will be the last time. Because usually took them about 2 to 3 hours of grooming which i am willing to pay but on Friday 6-16-23 we took our dog there but after about 30 min he was done I was like what That's it. Seems like they rush it and he was not shinny as used to be he still smells. We try to tell th but there reason is short staff and our dog was restless whatever but still chatge us full price. They also said they only had 2 dogs including mine appointment so how can you tell me tou are short staff that morning you did not have any schedule but my dog and another one and they are two of them. My dog paw was not cut still have furr in between the paw. And he still smells why I bring my dog to grooming to get a good brush and good shower that is why I am willing to pay whatever. **IF YOU HAVE A LARGE BREED, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME** I have a young (professionally trained) Great Dane, so he's still very much a "puppy". A puppy that weights 165lbs...but still a puppy. I called to see if they had experienced staff that could handle larger breeds, and was assured they did. The first two appointments went just fine and I felt at ease. However, post pandemic, I've been told multiple times (4 to be exact) AFTER arriving that they cannot handle him and had to cancel/reschedule. Our last visit, no other pups were there so I felt confident that the multiple staff members standing there could assist. I wasn't looking for a top of the menu service, just a simple bath and nail clip. Mission complete (after the 5th attempt), or so I thought. I asked/paid to get his nails clipped/grinded down but that didn't happen (my bad for not checking before we left). As we were leaving another dog arrived, barking/jumping occurred...as to be expected (both dogs). I'm really not sure why I continued to try for another appt, but I did. When I called back they said my dog was flagged for aggressive behavior and could no longer take him. The service was subpar so I'm not sure why this bothers me but being lazy or not wanting to do a task that falls within your job description, at the expense of a dog behaving as a dog does, is really unsettling to me. I know a 165lb dog jumping can look intimidating but he's the farthest thing from "aggressive" (well, to be fair...he may lick you to death). They probably flagged the other dog too! :( Who's responsible for interviewing these people when hiring?? Staff was rude, seemed annoyed they had to be there, and very condescending. Petsmart needs to do better or don't bother having a grooming dept. Also, tell people upfront if you CAN'T handle large breeds. read more

They did such a wonderful job grooming our little poodle mix, he was a stray and was a little fearful but they were so kind and caring he came out looking like a superstar. Just came here today to have my dogs nails trimmed because I live in Darrington and PetSmart is the closest place I trust. Will not ever be returning. When I arrived there was no signage in or out of the store and when I walked all the way back to the store to try entering there was a PIECE OF PAPER that read they are closing at 5 due to being "understaffed." Their store hours online read open until 8PM. I just drove 45 minutes only to be ignored when I walked to the back of the store by two of the people inside. The two groomers inside ignored me when I walked up to the door and continued happily chatting. You would expect them to post this on their website, but when I clicked into the location and checked online before driving this far there was no information whatsoever. I have been taking my German Shepherd to be groomed here in the Marysville for about 4 years now. Unfortunately they lost his (my dogs) preferred groomer and I thought I could take him to his other preferred groomer at the same place. Little did I know her co worker ended up telling me it was too much work for her AFTER she groomed him. I am so disappointed with what happened. I felt so bad for my G.S because he didn't even want to come out of their kennel. That NEVER happened with his previous groomer. If you like to have conversations with people who are passive aggressive, rude, do NOT treat your pet well (EVEN WHEN IT IS THEIR JOB) go to Petsmart in Marysville. I will not be returning to Petsmart for my pet grooming needs. I left feeling like a bad pet owner for having a super curly poodle hair with mild matting. This review is for the grooming department. Having recently moved to Marysville from Mukilteo it's a bit of a drive to take my two dogs to my regular groomer just to get nail trims. I decided to try out PetSmart to see if it would be a good alternative. Spoiler Alert- It's not. Read on to find out why. It started out with my dogs being muzzled. If you don't bring in your dog's rabies certificate, they will muzzle them. I get it's company policy, it's a bit of an annoyance though, but fine. My larger dog is a rescue and is a bit wary of new people and isn't fond of nail trims, however I've never seen her freak out as much as she did during this nail trim. I offered to hold her for them to keep her calm and make the job easier which I was told I was not allowed to do "For the safety of myself and my dog." 1. She's already muzzled, and 2. She would be a lot calmer having me hold her and talk to her than she was with this girl who had her backed into a corner just so she could grind her nails. I've never been to a grooming facility with this policy and it clearly stressed my dog out more not allowing me to calm her or have them do it themselves. My smaller dog isn't fond of nail trims either and is usually pretty dramatic. My regular groomer solves this by having one person hold him while the second person trims or grinds his nails. This keeps him calm and much happier. That's not what these girls did. The girl grinding his nails just held him there and kept struggling with him to get the job done. Then came the bill. Want nail grinding rather than trimming? That's extra. Anal glands? Nearly as much as a nail grind. $34 for two nail grinds and one anal gland expression. I would have spent about $20 at my regular groomer for this service and they usually trim up my smaller dog's feet for free. Now when you factor in the gas I'd spend to drive to Mukilteo to my regular groomer we might come out somewhere around the same price, or maybe only save a few bucks. But I'd rather make the drive, spend around the same, and have people care for my dogs who actually know what they are doing, and make an effort to make my dogs calm and happy unlike the groomers at PetSmart. read more

I have never BEEN SO UNHAPPY WITH ANYONE IN MY LIFE! My roommate brought my dog back to me after a grooming looking like this. First right off I noticed he was acting VERY weird when he came in. He acted as if someone had hurt him. He was acting in pain. My roommate told me that he tried to bite the groomer! Which is a shock usually his report card comes back with all kinds of nice things about him. What a good boy WE LOVE HIM SO MUCH! ETC! I have been using Petsmart for years so was expecting no issues have been satisfied. Understand they art not the top groomers in the business BUT MY DOG CAME HOME SEVERELY RAZOR BURNT. I went to cuddle him and I found these angry weeping razor red burns! Wife said a new girl did him, she didn't know her but she was not a very attractive person. This Petsmart is ok. Recently I have been disappointed when some items I need like my fish filters were out of stock last couple visits. (even after I called apparently not ordered) I buy TopFin and since they were out of the size I needed, I was recommended by in store staff another brand instead, so I bought them but they were junk. I took my little guy to get groomed. I was very hesitant since we've never been before and we have been seeing the same lady for years. I was so impressed with PetSmart Grooming! They delivered exactly what I wanted and more. I also loved how they consulted with me about his haircut, it was very professional. I like the fact that they have high standards of safety, such as when they bathe the dog they must have one hand on them at all times, and they blow dry by hand, not using one of those boxes that holds the dog hostage and blows air into it. A really nice quality pet store, but pet smart employees at any location have never been nice or somewhat accommodating to any measure. Me and my friend were picking out a small fish tank (I think it was around 5 gallons) and were going to purchase a goldfish to start her out with. We had all the supplies we needed and picked out a cute fish that followed her finger around the tank. When asked for assistance the quiet and socially awkward employee looked at us and snarled "how big is your tank" we said 5 gallons. She said that a goldfish needed to be in at least a 55 gallon tank. WTH. 55 gallons?! For a goldfish? When asked what kind of fish we could get she said a guppy. No way. She refused to sell us the fish even after insisting we would be fine. read more

Spotted a Chameleon I was ready to purchase, but couldn't get an employee to assist me, asked for some help was told someone would be with me shortly and to my surprise no one ever showed up. It appears the manager and staff at this store do not understand the concept of customer service. It is very difficult to find anyone to help when you have questions about what to buy, it is even more difficult getting someone at the register to ring up the sale. Today was the third and final time I will tolerate poor service at the register. If the register is open, the light is on, then someone should be around to work that register. Not at this store. They will let you stand there for 10 minutes before telling you that you need to get in line at the other register behind the 5 other people waiting in line. Even the manager won't lift a finger to assist when there is a long line of people waiting to pay. When they do open another register, they don't get the next person in line, they just turn the light on and wait. They do not understand that without the customer, there is no paycheck. But maybe PetSmart is doing such great business they don't need my money which is fine. There are a lot of pet stores that know how to treat customers and would love to have me buy stuff from them. Not only did this particular store loose my business, but I would need to be desperate to purchase anything from any PetSmart store because if one store treats customers poorly it generally means that the entire management of the company doesn't know how to treat customers. read more

I go to this PetSmart out of convenience. Sometimes my buns and cavy run out of pellets and bedding and this is a great location from where I live. Some things are pricey, but if you manage to use your PetSmart card and even find coupon deals on-line (you can print them and bring them in or just order from their website), sometimes that makes up for it. The staff seem friendly enough, although there is one employee in particular that isn't very nice (I won't name any names). She seems more intent on speaking negatively of people than helping a customer out. It will be obvious who it is once you get there. I've witnessed this on numerous occasions. Luckily, there are other staff members that are happy to help you. As the saying goes, "you can't let one rotten apple spoil the whole barrel." That's the only reason I gave this PetSmart 3 Stars. Maybe when I return, this lady's attitude will change and I can update with higher ratings. read more

I understand now why this place have a bad review. I came in today for my two German Shepherd's grooming appointment. Today is 8/14/19 and whoever was that girl at the reception area (I didn't catch her name because I was too mad) at 12nn turn my dogs around because they were barking at her and they're "aggressive". Every dog doesn't automatically trust anyone other than their owners so automatically they will bark at you. It's not like they were growling at you. We were LITERALLY there for 2 minutes tops and she said "I don't think they will see them" like she didn't even tried harder to do her job. I've been going to PetSmart for my dogs and I have never ever had this issue. PetSmart needs professional people to handle dogs and not just some random people who got 2 hours of training, specially everything is pricey in PetSmart. I don't recommend this place unless they hire better people who will actually try their best to work on dogs. read more

I stopped taking my dog here. There was just something about this place she did not like. She always looked great afterwards, but having her whining at me for ten minutes on the drive home was really disturbing. This is a dog that is always happy, never utters anything but weird, Husky waroo noises, and even loves going to the vet. There was just something about their process that was freaking her out, despite the fact that she goes through the same exact grooming process at another location. That said, the store is always clean and the employees are always friendly and helpful. I always notice their prices are WAY higher in the store than online and I have no idea why that is. read more

I have a 9 pound shitzu... She's 4 and never had a problem with grooming. Took her in last week to pet smart and it was the worst decision I ever made for my little girl! She came back with a huge scratch on her side and hair missing like she'd had it pulled out, and a red mark by her eyes where they shaved. plainly they didn't take care of her. She itched for 2 days afterwards until I put her in the tub and gave her another bath at home because they didn't rinse her coat very well. Please if you love you fur babies DO NOT take them here. Oh and top of that it was 65$ to have her groomed and my mom the next day took hers in who requires more attention and she her nails painted and it was only 32$.
