Love this place... they have a dog park and it's wonderful and I always forget about it but it's so wonderful

I now have two very sick dogs after buying goat milk at Sam's without knowing it had been temperature compromised. The employees told me the freezer went down but not all the product in the freezer was thrown out. Why even take the risk???? Also looking back at the review history it seems like it's not their first rodeo selling spoiled product. read more

We've been very pleased with Sam's since moving to the area. Monroe is lucky to have such a good pet store with such a superb collection of dog and cat food. And the prices are very much in line with other similar places (Mud Bay comes to mind), so people should stop complaining about that. We've also used the groomer here about three times now, and the results have been good. Happy to have this store so close and happy to support this good, local business. read more

Sam (owner) and the delivery team (Beka & Sarah) are amazing, I cannot sing their praises enough! I had an issue with ordering online the other day, and called them up to get some help. They hadn't even opened yet, but were extremely helpful even so! I got Sam on the line, who was super helpful and made sure I had nothing to worry about. If I had this issue with any other larger pet company, it wouldn't have been to easy to fix! Instead Sam and the team gave me nothing to stress over. In addition to that, when my delivery arrived this morning, they even included a full bag of goodies for my pup, to make up for it (which they totally didn't need to to!)! They went above and beyond, and I am so grateful for how wonderful they have been to work with. I love taking my dog here for her bi-weekly nail trims. It's a ritual for us. Every Wednesday, when nail trims are discounted to $10, we pop in for a trim and then she gets to run and sniff afterwards in their private dog park. I've never seen another dog in there any time I've been there so she's had total run of the yard. They carry so many brands/types of food, toys, art...it's really well stocked with anything you could need/want for your pet. What a great local store that I am happy to support. read more

I have shopped here for years. Today I asked to pet the one dog behind the counter and instead of a polite...no... I got an eye roll with a nasty NO! If I let you pet him then he would expect to get attention from everyone. oh my God...you wouldn't want to show the dog any attention!!! I will shop at Chewy from now on! So far, so great! We visited Sams a few years ago when they first opened in this location and we didn't have the best experience. Everything has changed! The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgable, and fun! The selection they have is amazing too, especially for Monroe! Our young puppy is now going to Sams for grooming. It was her first grooming, and they treated her with patience and when we picked her up, it was all tail ways and happiness. Overall, Sams goes above and beyond to help the customers and they do it in a super friendly way. We've made Sam's our pet store now! read more

I can no longer trust the quality or integrity of the food here... After buying a bag of Primal frozen raw cat food, I found that the food had been "compromised" (thawed and refrozen). When I returned it, the cashier said that the old supplier/distributor that delivered Primal to Sam's would often bring the food thawed or soft and they'd stick it in the freezer and sell it as it was. The new distributor was said to be much better, but it seemed wrong that they'd sell food they KNEW had been temperature compromised, so I just decided to stop buying raw food here unless it was necessary. On Small Business Saturday (11/24/18), I bought a bag of kibble at full price. Today, while going through my pantry, I saw that the bag was expired before I had even bought it (11/16/18). I don't think there's enough of the food left that I can return it at this point... I didn't expect that I'd have to check the dates on full priced merchandise, so here's my warning to you: check dates before buying. read more

I've been into Sam's a couple times. Mainly visited for treats and dog food. They have a great selection of very healthy food/treats. Today we visited the grooming section for the first time to get our nails trimmed. The ladies did a great job and it was very obvious they knew exactly what they were doing. My girls a nipper when it comes to nails and they quickly whipped out a small muzzle and got those nails perfect in no time. Oh, and I really like that it's a walk in for nails. I think we'll call and make an appointment for a wash next. I felt very comfortable and I'm sure my Shug's did too ;) read more

My parents have taken their dogs for monthly grooming at Sam's for years. After the last grooming visit, their elderly dog developed kennel cough. We reached out by email and phone to notify Sam's and ensure other dogs didn't contact kennel cough from their establishment too. We never heard back. Super disappointing! I understand it is unprecedented times with a global pandemic but a simple acknowledgement to long standing customers would have gone a long way. read more

This is a great local business with excellent staff. The products are first rate and the pricing is fair. They also have grooming services. We had both our middle aged Basset Hounds get the full spa treatment yesterday and they came home clean, happy, and sporting new bandannas as a momento. I highly recommend this business. read more

I'm very dissatisfied with the grooming department. I have had my dogs groomed by two other locations without issues! For some reason my dogs didn't like these groomers! My first experience here was /tough/ I bought a bag (expensive bag) of the large Plato turkey and pumpkin dog treats, when we got home, they were so stale i had to take a hammer to break them in half just as an example! Ended up just letting the dog use them as long lasting chew treats, but they were supposed to be quick break off and toss treats.. THIS IS A PUBLIC REVIEW ON SAM'S GROOMING PLACE (whatever it's called) So on Monday, I called Sam's 12 TIMES. With no answer, nothing. I called the front desk and left my name and number, I called the grooming place and they FINALLY took my name AND NUMBER AFTER 12 DAMN CALLS . When I finally received a call back it was 4pm so it was too late to even walk in and get her nails clipped. So they tell me that "I can come in on Wednesday anywhere from 10-4pm. For a walk in". And after she said that I said "can I still make an appointment?" And the lady said "No" WELL GUESS WHAT GUYS? ITS WEDNESDAY. I was told there was no appointments today. I get there 7MINUTES after 10 and I'm told that I can't get my dog's nails clipped. And that I'm gonna have to wait because they were working on another dog who OBVIOUSLY HAD AN APPOINTMENT as it was ONLY 7 minutes after 10pm. They told me that they could "call me back" but at the rate of 12 calls and FINALLY GETTING A RESPONSE at 4PM!! I just walked out of the store and told them that they have officially lost ALL of my bussiness. AS IF their return policy wasn't crappy enough, their service is just as crappy. Don't go there, OR AT LEAST don't trust what they say on the phones because they lied and told me that I "couldn't make an appointment" when clearly other owners could. read more

Sams' is such a friendly place to shop. They have all the pet needs you will ever want to buy. They are happy to give you samples of food to try before buying a larger bag. Friendly atmosphere makes the trip into town very relaxing. I highly recommend this store to everyone. read more

Sam's is the only pet store that I shop at. Since opening, Sam has always been helpful and generous while always carrying the best products available. His employees are friendly, well versed in the product and helpful. I run a dog rescue organization and Sam has always been willing to donate food when available as well as offering his store up for adoption events. How cool is that? None of the other local pet stores have been nearly that philanthropic. I also appreciate that Sam facilitates kitty adoptions from the store. It's too bad about the lady that had the issue with the special order. Mistakes happen, everyone is human. Sam has been special ordering me food for four years and I've never once had an issue. It seems a little odd to get that worked up over Gentle Leaders, but that's just me. I highly recommend Sam's and urge everyone to at least stop in a say hi! I have found a new place to purchase everything I need for my dog. Sam's is relatively new to Monroe and really the only decent pet store around. Thier staff is fantastic and super friendly. They are pet friendly and even have a few of their own roaming the store. Thier store carries wet/dry/raw food for cats and dogs, toys, bedding and treats. read more

I had the best dog grooming experience here and will definitely be going back! The groomers were great with my dog who was really nervous when we got there. Her summer cut was exactly what I asked for and when I got there to pick her up she was calm and relaxed. Quick turnaround as well. This place is great for those who really want to take proper care of their pets. The staff was great and helped me find a dog food that would help my dog live a longer and healthier life. They have a GREAT return policy! If my pet doesn't like the food, I can simple bring it back to the store and they will try to find something that will work. The only thing I would warn to people is the black cat that roams the store. My husband got too close and she let me him. The gray cat on the other hand, I would recommend petting! :) read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Sam's. I haven't visited another pet store since I began frequenting this one. Aside from the fact that they're the only store close-by that sells my preferred brand of food, the selection, customer service and product quality can't be compared. If for no other reason, visiting Sam's is worth it along to avoid the training-pushing employees at PetCo and PetSmart. You know *exactly* what I'm talking about. I've never had anything pushed on me at Sam's. The employees here listen first, and make suggestions based off yours and your pets' needs, not who their current sponsor is. The prices seem higher--but it's because of the quality of products Sam's stocks, not the typical independent store markup. Product-for-product, I've done research and have yet to find anything cheaper elsewhere or online. If you're used to shopping at one of the big-box pet stores they might seem steep, but it's like comparing Nordstrom to Wal-Mart: You're paying for what you get. read more

We used to take our cocker spaniel here and then also tried another place in monroe that specialized in grooming that breed of dog. Sam's was by far better! And they have expanded and reorganized the grooming area. I took my Lucy there just today and she looks adorable, is so soft and hasn't been itching at all like she does when I wash her at home with a specialty skin sensitive dog shampoo. And I won't go into HOW MUCH SHE HATES to have her nails clipped. Staff was caring and receptive and even gave me a report card with a treat bag for my pup....though they weren't anything she could eat because of allergies, we gave them to my other dog. In their defense, I did forget to tell them. Will definitely be back!!! read more

Im just amazed they would recommend an item that did not work. It did not work for buddy. They will not even consider a return on a slicker brush because it is unsanitary. It does not work for his short hair. Lastly i would recommend going to pet pros if you have any questions about what might work for your pet. Took my little guy in for grooming, horrible job! My dog was scared, he had tear stains down his face, which he never does. Charged for things I can plainly see was not done. Hair cut very lopsided, and very choppy, ears not trimmed. I paid the extra to have his nails filed and they were very rough cut. Chopped off all the hair on his tail like if you grabbed a pony tail and cut. Have been purchasing all our pet needs here for two years, will not be returning. read more

On 08/29/20 we went to Sams to purchase a diaper cover for our 24lb ShihTzu. The young girl helping us took a large out of its packaging and assured us it would fit. We got it home, put it around him without fastening it, it was far too large, put it back in the packaging and tried to return it today. They refused to take it because it had touched our dog. This shop has a new devoted customer. I called from Camano Island to ask several questions about CBD treats, as I had a 17 year old dog with arthritis. They were so knowledgeable and kind about the whole situation. I didn't mind driving an hour to pick the treats up, and I wouldn't mind doing it again. I was like other reviewers - just as excited when this store opened in Monroe. We feed our dogs food that is not easily available in most pet stores. When Sams came around we were so excited. We found their prices a little bit more than what we paid elsewhere, but we compromised with ourselves, saying its a small business in our lil'podunk town, they can use those extra few bucks... The bad experience was with the personal orders on items. The last one I remember is with ordering Gentle leader leashes for my 60+ lb dogs. Sam and I browsed the page on the gentleleaders website together and decided that was what was to be ordered. He said two-three weeks and I said fine. Again I could get this product in Redmond, or even Bridges Pets in Sno, but I thought I;ll give my moolah to a local business (plus Bridges sells animals). After four weeks and no callback, I called them and they said oh they were about to call and that the leashes are in the warehouse - they should be here in a couple of days. Another weeks goes by, and I didn't want to nag, but I called in anyway and they said, oh they are here - just come and pick them up. I was irritated that they did not call me. But I thought, hey it happens, its a business. I had already pre-paid for the leashes, that is how much I trusted these guys. So I go in again and the gal behind the desk said that Sam has left these specially marked for you. She brought out a dog collar and leash set in a bright pink, this product was not even a harness - just a leash set - what was Sam thinking. I was obviously furious. They had royally wasted four to five weeks of my time for this pink nonsense, that was already in their store the first time I had gone there to place an order on the GLs They gave me back my money, no hassels there, but not once, did I receive an apology from Sam for the mis-understanding, the goof-up or the frustration he caused. I placed an order on the phone that very day with Bridges, and I received my leashes in two days - anti-reflective ones for a large dog - 2 counts. No price markup even. I just found out that PetPros next to Albertsons is just as great, reasonably priced and absolutely non-pretentious. I have been going there for over a year now. They also carry all the food brands we usually get: Acana,Origen,Blue etc. read more

Sam's grooming is the best!! My dogs appointment was today, I've waited for 3 weeks to get him in. Last week my husband and I traveled to Kansas City to visit my daughter and family who just moved back to the USA (MILITARY) after 3 years in Germany. Well, we were suppose to leave yesterday but Southwest Airlines had a computer meltdown that shut travel down. We will be leaving on Saturday. I originally called to cancel his appointment, but then thought maybe my neighbor could transport the lady who is caring for my dog when I'm away. To my surprise I am blessed, that Sam's is gifting me this grooming session. I have to say, they are treating me better than Southwest Airlines.
