We initially went into PetSmart for a Pet adoption. After getting our newest family member, I have returned to PetSmart a few times to pick up kitten food. (The adoption agency feeds their animals "Authority" brand and I have been continuing the same food as to not upset her tummy). Our kids love to see all the animals... which usually makes a quick 2 minute trip into a 40 minute odyssey. Personally, I don't really love shopping here as the prices are so much higher than other places for pet supplies. BUT, I had some $5 off coupons that came with the pet adoption paperwork. This, in addition to $2 off sale on the pet food came out to a decent deal. Staff here are usually pretty friendly. read more

We buy a lot of fish. We are in our sixties, retired etc. Last week we visited this Petsmart for new fish for a new 55 gallon aquarium. My husband almost 64, has had aquariums all his life. We bought 4 fish. Two of them were 1 1/2" koi. The long red haired guy at the register starts asking us what size aquariums we have. So we tell him. He wrote NG - no guarantee on our receipt as we left. He said that the Koi needed a 125 gallon aquarium per koi. Mind you this fish is 1 1/2" long. we have never been treated so disrespectfully in our lifetime. We were embarrassed for Petsmart. During our visit we would have purchased more fish because many of their tanks were full of dead fish. All their koi we bought were in a 5 gallon tank !?!?!? To the upper management who never returned my call. Shame on you. No one at your store has a government badge for being 'THE FISH POLICE'; we will never shop your store again. My 40lb pit bull PUPPY was charged MORE for the SAME basic wash as my 70lb ADULT American Bulldog. Both dogs being bully breeds, this was blatant discrimination against pit bulls. My appointment was made online and even the store could not tell me why my pit bull was being charged more. My dog was well behaved according to the groomer, but nothing was done to adjust my bill. The up charge was $3. And over a lousy $3 and the abundance of discrimination that PetSmart as a company exhibits, I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

During this whole pandemic it seems that PetSmart upped its game with curbside delivery. Order online and pick up. Although what they don't tell you on the website that it takes 3-4 hrs to fill that order. Spoke to manager David (clearly busy) and he explained best he could what the hiccup was and that an email would be sent out when the order was ready. Seeing 4 shopping carts full with orders I didn't argue much and left. Why the five star rating? Groomers were still able to work as runners for curbside delivery. Manager was available to speak to a customer even though they were clearly busy filling orders. They (PetSmart) were able to minimize contact and still be productive. Again during this pandemic these people are still working and risking their health. So yeah five stars. Remember: Place online order wait 2-3 or 4 hrs for confirmation THEN drive over. read more

DON'T GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE. I took my dog to get a bath and brush and I wish I wouldn't have. Whoever trimmed my dogs nails really needs to be retrained or fired. Every one of my dogs nails were cut too short where the quick was exposed. He can't even walk. He won't put any pressure on one of his back legs. You can tell he is in so much pain, it's heartbreaking. How did she not know she was trimming them too short?Was the blood and my dog yelling in pain not enough of a hint? There was a ton of blood in the creases of his pads that we had to clean. How did no one step in and tell her she's probably doing it wrong? We spoke with the store manager and she was apologetic, but that doesn't make my dog not be in pain. I just don't know how this even happened. read more

My dog has gone to the grooming salon a couple of times and all of them were good. But three months ago she had her first period and didn't want to come out of the cage. So we had to cancel it and they recommended to do an Express appointment next time. So everything was fine after that, but today I didn't do an express appointment because I figured she would be fine since it was a while ago. But my dog didn't come out of the cage this time so I came to pick her up. I apologized and wanted to do only express appointments from now on, but the groomers said that they aren't able to do any appointments with Bella anymore. I am very disappointed. Overall I like the grooming department at Petsmart but I definitely prefer some groomers over others. Julia is super sweet and she is German and says her and my German shepherd, Axl get along great because they speak the same language. I was really impressed with how she babied my dogs and I liked the notes she put in their pawgress reports saying regarding Axl, "we are just gonna have to accept the fact that he don't like his ears and feet messed with". I thought that was fair enough because truthfully he would even prefer me to leave his ears and feet alone and I am his Mom! Plus he is a big 90 pound boy and I don't feel like there is a reason that we should not only stress out the groomer but him as well. So the next time I took them to Petsmart Julia was not available so I told the ladies that would be working on him that he did not like his ears or feet messed with so not to worry about those areas. Well I get back to a wet dog because apparently now Axl has decided he doesn't like to get his hair dried either! I thought that was a bit of a leap and to be honest I think the groomers were just trying to get out of there. From now on I will go back to Petsmart but only when I can get an appointment with Julia. read more

I usually am not a fan of Petsmart's grooming department, but i have absolutely fallen in LOVE with one of their groomers! Maria Zarate is absolutely fabulous!!! I took my 4 month old toy poodle to get a bath the first day I had her, and Maria was our groomer. She took her time with Cayley(toy poodle) and made sure that she had the best experience possible. When I returned to take her home, she looked perfect! Maria gave me a reportcard to let me know how she did, and gave me tips on what I could do at home to help her enjoy time at the groomer. Every time we go to Petsmart, Cayley looses herself when she sees Maria. I have referred many clients to Maria and have never heard anything bad about her. I also take my boyfriends dog Lexi who is a daushand terrier mix. Maria does a great job on her as well, and has helped her get use to grooming since she was a puppy mill dog. Maria Zarate is the best dog groomer in Midland, TX . If you live anywhere near, you have to take your dog! She does everything from teacups to standard sizes, full breeds to muts, friendly to skiddish dogs. She is absolutely amazing! We took our golden retriever to be bathed and trimmed. Instead the groomer cut off her feathers entirely, very unevenly cut the rest of her coat really short and left her ears choppy and uneven. After we spoke to the manager we felt better but got a very rude call from the groomer the next day saying "life's too short to get upset about a dogs haircut" and "I don't need the money so I'll refund it if that's what you want." First of all, I get the "Walmart effect" everytime I'm there. Meaning 5 registrars and one person working. It's beyond frustrating seeing employees walk around the store doing nothing, while one poor employee busts their ass to take the entire crowd. It's not good for business. Secondly, for a city with close if not well over 100K people, how in the hell did we land on one of the only Petsmart without a Banfield vet clinic or if there is one, the website makes it impossible to call or schedule any sort of an apt because it shows there isn't one located in or around this area. The only reason I go there is for the food. Please get everything in line Petsmart management. All I wanted to do was purchase a uvb light for my turtles tank. I checked out and thought, "WOW, $20.51 for a light bulb?" So I went online and checked the price. $8.82 with the tax. This is not the first time items in store are way over priced. They will price match, but you have to do it on all items. What a pain unless you enjoy paying Midland prices. I am so frustrated with this store and their employees defending the over priced items. I go home and try the bulb and it doesn't work correctly. I go back to the store with the turtle fixture and bulb to get help. I might as well have been the Devil incarnate as far as the employees were concerned. I wasn't even angry, just very frustrated. It was very clear from all the whispering I wasn't getting a bulb that worked today. So I just got my money back and said how rude the employees are in the store especially the young lady in the fish department, but they try to play it off like they were the victims and would never be rude. I am not one to leave reviews, but I am so done with Petsmart! A couple months ago I brought my Aussie mix to get a bath and a trim, well they didn't give him the trim. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to be that nagging customer. My own fault because I still left there paying 70 bucks! Today I thought I would give it another chance and took him to his 8 AM appointment, it is now 1:33 PM and they just told me they needed 45 more minutes. The whole reason for getting him in at 8 AM was because I needed to leave town by noon. Yes they ask for 3 to 4 hours but 6, c'mon now?! It's freaking ridiculous! Oh and don't even get me started with the tacky employees that like to have their rap music playing extremely loud, and not even allowing the girl asking me what I need done to hear me. I bought a $200 pet kennel online at Petsmart.com, and chose 'in store pickup' because it promised to be ready in an hour or less. I waited almost two hours for a pickup email, and decided to drive up to the store, and just see if they could work it out from there. At the store, they told me I couldn't pick one up because my order wasn't ready. There was a pallet stacked with about seven of these kennels, but no, I couldn't have one yet. Fine. I waited, and thirty minutes later, got a cancellation email saying that my order was cancelled because the kennel I ordered was NOT IN STOCK. Seriously?? So, I went back to the store and just bought the damn thing. Another interesting point, when I checked out online, I paid $200. When I had to go to the store and buy it in person, I was charged $250. Thanks PetSmart. I will be shopping with Amazon from now on. They had the same kennel, same price, but at least they deliver straight to my house and have awesome customer service-something that your store is seriously lacking. read more

O boy, this grooming salon doesn't deserve a star. First of all. Their groomers have no personality. They are rude, and have no business being in customer service. The salon is DIRTY! There was blood on the floor and I didn't want my dog to lick it so I said something, and they WOULDN'T clean up the blood. That's disgusting. And they still use those kennel dryers that are now being banned. Those dryers can kill a dog!!! I walked out. I would rather groom my dog myself! Good thing too.
