It's a Petsmart and it fills a great need in the neighborhood. If you're a fan of Petsmart's this will meet your Petsmart expectations. They don't have everything of course as it's not a specialist store. Obviously a dedicated reptile shop may serve your reptile needs better, but Petsmart is a great generalist store with some of everything. We go often for our doggie needs as well as for our freshwater aquarium and reptile needs. My Pug has gone thru their dog training and it was a decent program. The trainer was very professional and dedicated to the craft and put up with the crazy antics of our pug. Ive never had any issues with the dog grooming and everytime my other dog gets serviced, she looks like a million bucks. FYI their return policy is 60 days. Overall, PetsMart is a very vital part of the community and I'm glad it exists. read more

This review is specifically for training. My husband and I purchased puppy training for our new puppy that was supposed to start on Wednesday, 2/5. First day, Ayla (the trainer) was a no-show. We were not notified that she needed to cancel class. The next week, she was late coming back from lunch and tried to get us to come to a different day rather than the class we signed up for. She then dismissed us after about 30 minutes of training. This week, she's a no-show yet again and we were told by the cashier that she was at lunch and intended on cancelling today's class. We were of course not notified of the cancelation. Very frustrating and wasteful of our time since we rush home from work to make it to this location for the 5pm class that's offered at the store. We have asked for a refund on the classes we purchased. read more

I placed an online order for pickup. I got an email at 2:48 pm that order was ready. At 6::00pm, drove 40 minutes to the store, to be informed the order was not ready, it was in the back of the store on the shelf and there was no one available to work the forklift. I had ordered a large terrarium for my lizard. The cashier Robert said that there wasn't a manager on duty, that Riley the manager said to mark all orders as ready to make her/his numbers better and then the manager left. They couldn't cancel the order, and couldn't transfer the order to another location. I had to call ANOTHER Petsmart, drive there and pay AGAIN for a terrarium. Absolutely trash customer service. Brought my rescue greyhound here for nail trimming. Unfortunately my baby fur beast decided, whilst on vacation, to not like trims. Peed and screamed like a teenager at the first Beatles concert. I was mortified but they took it in stride, no worries. As a final doggy rude comment, she peed again in the aisle. I love the fact they have cleaning stations everywhere to address such an issue. I saw her being a rough with a dog, and I told someone not to let her do my dog and they did let her and she shaved his scrotum raw to where he's bleeding and no one ever told me about it until I saw it, and I am going to complain to the manager. I think they probably did it on purpose because I didn't want her and I think that's animal cruelty. I saw her being rough with another dog when I was making my appointment. Never again will I use them!!! my poor dog. I hope he doesn't get infected by licking it. So sad!!!! Zero stars and it cost me $200 for 2 dogs. My other dog kicking her paw now too. We took my lab mix here for a grooming session. Prices are comparable to other groomers we have used. We normally add deshedding to her grooming and the total comes to $88 here. Karen did an excellent job cleaning up our sweet girl! All of the employees were very kind and communicative. I do wish the grooming session was a little faster though. I recently got a quarantine kitty from a local rescue, and needed the cat to be bathed. Obviously I wasn't going to take my chances getting scratched up! So I searched around for a cat groomer that doesn't charge $90- seriously! Who is paying someone $90 to wash their cat? WHO??? Anyhow, PetSmart came to the rescue!! $35- yes please!!! And Thank You! It was a bit odd though that it's $30 if you schedule Monday thru Thursday, but it's an extra $5 on Friday. Ok. Whatever. So I dropped my new kitty off, gave them well wishes, and went back to work. About 2 hours later, the sweet girl, I think her name was Abigail (?) called and told me the cat was clean! Yay!! Now I can finally hold the cat that hates being held! Hello Petsmat, it's called adoption, not a fxxxking donation! Story begins We went in to adopt a kitty. The store opens at 9 and the adoption website said come check the adoption at 9, but somehow the staff told us that the adoption doesn't open until 10. Okay. We wait for an hour, which sounds really "cool". Finally we waited till 10, the staff who did the paper work for adoption was absolutely rude and she gave me the feeling like she hated her job, or just purely being rude. So we waited for extra an hour at store to adopt the kitty, this bullshit waiting did mess up our plan for the day. So we mentioned if we signed adoption paper and paid the fee, can we pick up the kitty two hours later. The woman said, if we kept the kitty,later whoever comes in wants the cat, she will just give whoever wants it. WTF?!?! So adoption paper work means nothing I guess and forced it to be a donation to someone else later if we don't take the kitty right away? read more

I've been taking my fur babies to this location for grooming for about 7 years. We've always had great service and babies always seem happy when I pick up. I do advise them of her stress of being in a kennel so they do call as soon as she's ready for pick up as I live very close. Which is great appreciated. I have recommended my son to this same groomer and he's loves it as well. read more

Beware of the grooming services. Took my 17 week puppy standard poodle for grooming. From the time that we dropped him off the staff seemed very hesitant to accommodate. They asked questions that seemed insensitive but maybe it was procedure. Within 15min of us leaving they informed us that he was being combative and that he was a danger to himself and the groomers and it was policy to discontinue service. Totally understand but it's about delivery. Especially when we dropped him off and things seemed off. They didn't even attempt to groom and said because he was "biting" at the kennel he was being combative. I understand policy but I feel as though they didn't even try. I recently acquired a healthy French Bulldog which we love very much. He is barely 9 weeks old and an awesome adorable addition to our family. On August 26th 2018 went to Petsmart to buy all new products to include Kennels, leashes, dog tags, and puppy chow/treats. My GF and I researched great brand names and decided to align our dogs' diet with grain free Blue Buffalo. The sales associate also recommended the Blue Buffalo line and helped us pick out appropriate food and treats. Our puppy got sick about a day later and we brought our puppy to the vet. The Vet proceeded to tell us that he had some digestion problems and then pumped our dogs' stomache. We brought in what we had been feeding the dog and realized that both the food and the treats had been expired. We paid $284 for the vet bill and then proceeded to buy different food. We went into Petsmart today (September 1 2018) to get a refund and let the store know about the problem we experienced. our goal was to let them know about the expired products so that other dogs would not have the same problem. After looking at the shelf, we found EVERY treat like our from Blue Buffalo was expired. Some of the expirations dated back to early June... almost two months PAST the expiration date. When we approached the store associate about this, her comment was "we sell expired food all the time and it will not hurt your dog." Keep in mind, every Blue Buffalo Treat was expired. We were not able to get a refund since the bag was already opened, but they did say that we could buy something else. THAT MADE NO SENSE to us!! We left the store pretty disgusted with how we were treated and by the fact that as a corporation, Petsmart was OK with selling expired, decayed products to dog owners with no remorse. I hope that Petsmart District Managers read this and investigate store 1269 on Baseline Road and educate their store associates on product shelf life and how to treat customers. For all consumers and patrons of Petsmart, I encourage you to not make the same mistake I did and read the expiration dates on the products. You would not buy any Blue Buffalo product from that store if you did as we had a hard time finding one Blue Buffalo Product that was not expired. read more

Wow!! I have never been so discriminated against in my life. This is the worst experience ever. Yesterday I spent nearly $300 buying a tank and everything needed for a few fish to enjoy a nice home. I went back and they we're getting very personal. I have 4 little feeder gold fish in a small tank about 5 gallons. So we wanted another addition mind you we already have an 80 Gallon tank with one COI. i wanted to raise him in my 20 gallon mind you he's only 2 inches right now. They refused to sell me any fish! Jill the manager was as rude as the associate assisting. Let's back up.. When we walked in we were looking at fish and this associate didn't even greet us but instead said you want something? Really that's how you act? She clearly dislikes people if they look a certain way. as well as the manager. I come to this store all the time! I even take my dog to Banner inside the location but not ever ever again! I'm tempted to file a lawsuit in hopes this will never happen again Stay away from here order online. Groomers: I will never go back to PetSmart for grooming. I had been going to PetSmart faithfully for nearly three years for two of my babies. Danielle used to groom my pups and was beyond wonderful. Danielle moved on. I scheduled an appointment for my Maltipoo for Jamie, big mistake! She called after nearly four hours to let me know my pup was nearly done. I was there in less than 10 minutes, she was gone. Picked up my baby, was given less than a satisfactory report for a pup that is extremely submissive, and then after getting him home discovered this, his tail (underneath skinned)! Nothing was said to me and she was gone before passing my pup to me... Never will I ever take any of my babies here again for grooming services! read more

Today I visited the PetSmart at 24th Street and Baseline to pick up my dogs expensive medicine and the weeks food for all of them. Between our 4 pets medicines, health plans and food we spend over $600.00 a month in this store. There was a gentleman in line that was wearing a face mask around his neck instead of his face. I advised him that inappropriately wearing the mask did not help anyone and he just shrugged. When I spoke to the manager about allowing this person in the store and allowing him to check out was irresponsible she advised me that perhaps he had a medical condition where he couldn't wear one, I pointed out to her then why would he have one around his neck? She proceeded to tell me that they couldn't refuse service to anyone I told her she was full of shit, that the money was more important than the safety and well being of her employees and other patrons and then told her to fuck off...... guess what? I was told they could not provide me services....HaHa point proven . Funny how people are more offended by words than health threats to their life! I am super disappointed because I used to love the old location in Mesa I used to go to... this is the 3rd time my pup gets his bath there and 2 of those times he has come home sick. The one time we didn't is because I took his treats but the groomer stated he didn't want them so I didn't bother taking them this time . My dog has a super sensitive stomach so I always ask the groomers not to give him treats . The second time I went in I asked again and Danielle reassured me that they don't unless we provide them and I said okay great! My dog was sick all last night and he only gets like that whenever he eats something he's not used to! I think 2 times is too much of a coincidence and it's not okay . Went in last night to purchase a fish tank for my daughter. Corina was so helpful and knowledgeable about getting us started. She truly went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, had everything we needed, and answered all our questions. I feel it's few and far between to get customer service like this these days. I didn't get the girls name at the register, but she was also very sweet and helpful. Overall a great experience! We come to this Petsmart at least once a week and most of the employees are pleasant and willing to help. With that being said, there is one employee that makes the experience so horrible I would rather drive to another store. Brandon is the worst! He is never pleasant, never has a smile on his face and never ask how can I help you. He just stands there looking in the opposite direction and when you ask him for help he makes you feel like you are bothering him. I never like giving the persons name if I am dissatisfied with my experience but this guy is like this every time. Not once have I ever seen him have any sort of customer service. Transferred in from Ohio where we got excellent service. Picked the Banfield on 24th street and baseline because of close proximity to my home however that proved to be a mistake. I requested my dogs nail be clipped, who better to do it then the vet? When I scheduled his check up I stated I wanted his nails clipped. When I received appointment confirmation call I again said I wanted his nails clipped. When I dropped him off I filled out a piece of paper and wrote to clip his nails and told the receptionist. Was called to pick him up and when I got there I didn't see on his paperwork if his nails were clipped. I asked, I was told "oh I'm not sure". What???? Terrible service. The store itself is just fine, but the five stars are really for Jaimie, the wonder groomer. My cat, Charlotte, is a hot mess in the fur department and simply must be professionally groomed. I had gone to three other groomers before finding Jaimie. One was great, but never responded to voicemails for appointments. The other two overcharged and clipped one of Charlotte's nipples. Jaimie listened to my concerns as well as what I have noticed about Charlotte's likes and dislikes regarding her fur-cut. She takes her time, giving pets a break when needed. She will also trim nails and check ears, as well as let you know if she notices anything unusual on the skin. Jaimie makes sure that her customers are satisfied, takes notes on the particulars of each pet's needs, and even calls to follow up. Charlotte and I have both loved her cuts and the genuine care from Jaimie. There are not a ton of groomers in the Valley that take care of cats, and from my experience, even fewer who do it well. Jaimie is a major exception, and if she were ever to leave Petsmart, we would follow her. read more

We always take our dog here as opposed to Petco. We live the same distance from each and we tried the other a couple times before but we always just choose to go to Petsmart. We also prefer this location to the others in the valley. This location has a very friendly and helpful staff. You can grab anyone and ask them where something is and they will show you. They also are all pet owners and have their own advice and contributions which I really appreciate. Our dog has graduated from two training rounds which have given him really good basics. They often have stuff on sale or at a good price. They have many different choices for the same thing so you aren't stuck with only one brand. Even the Banfield people, who are not technically employees, are nice. They let us weigh are giant whenever we bring him in. (150lbs so far). Our favorite part of going here is going to the grooming salon. Since he was old enough our dog has been bathed here. This really solidified our love of this place. On the next visit following the first grooming session we had stopped by to get some treats. Our dog just dragged us from the front of the store all the way to the grooming department because he really truly loved his groomer!! Now he is a "request dog" and we will wait til Jamie is back from whatever pto she is on or training she is completing in order to have her groom him. He is short haired and isn't extremely difficult to groom, but it means all the difference in the world to us that he loves his groomer. Even though she has told us her peers are equally awesome, we try to get her when she has time or just wait until she's available. We feel completely comfortable with her and stop by just to say hi whenever we see her working. We give it 5 stars because it is Saathi approved! The only improvement I can suggest is that it doesn't have a Petshotel. I would feel more comfortable putting him up there rather than the Scottsdale location simply because we see the employees so often, we are much more familiar with them, they are all warm and welcoming, and it's like home turf for our pup. Not that the Scottsdale location is bad, but it's pretty far for us so we don't go there for any other reason. read more

I just had the most unpleasant experiance at this Petsmart. I had a 7am grooming appointment for my 90lb 1yr old Doberman Pinscher. First of all they make you open the front door of the complex by pushing the doors open, then as you make your way to the back theres stuff all over the floor I almost slipped on a roll of poop bags that was on the floor, but even that i can excuse i understand they were stocking. As i sat in the back waiting for the salon to open a long with a fellow dog owner a short hispanic women wearing a black sweater and tan pants came to the back and very rudely interrupted myself and the other dog owner by yelling from accross the store and "one of your dogs peed in the front so clean that up on your way out" in a very rude tone as if she wantes to "punk" us or something, she then turned and joked with her fellow stock boy employee, a young african american male. I understand that one of our dogs peeing upfront is an inconvenience, but common you work at "petsmart" theres no reason for your tone or your attitude and i dont need you yelling from accoss the store have some class and respect. I can surely see why you're a stock girl and i really hope you dont interact with customers on a daily. To fix this issue Petsmart being the multi million dollar company should give all their employees customer service training and teach their employees to talk to customers with respect no matter the situation. I ended up walking to the front and asking where the accident had happened and cleaned it up myself, but im sure my big dog didnt leave that small of an accident, maybe next time I should really let him pee so that she has a reason to give attitude. read more

Recently got a guinea pig from here to keep my other piggy company. The guinea that I gotten was separated from the rest when I asked the lady why she ignored me. But my sister had fallen in love with him so I decided to take him home. I wish she could have told me why because now I can't have them together or they will end up fighting as this piggy is very aggressive and both have bite marks all over from the fighting. I am well aware of the dominance stage but it's been 2 months since I've gotten him and every time they are together the one I bought from this store tends to start fighting with the other and now I don't know what to do. I can always find what I need here. The store carries a wide assortment of toys that Hank likes, as well as rawhide and other doggie treats. The staff is always helpful, and Hank seems to like it here They always give him a treat when we bring him in. The prices are a little on the high side, in my opinion. The only negative for me is the Banfield Hospital, it is a rip off. You pay the month fee, and still have to come out of pocket when you bring pooch or kitty to them.
