I just left the store. I came to return several items. I forgot my receipt in the car but I thought it was no biggie since they could look it up with my phone number. They did but then the cashier swiped a merchandise card and I didn't want that. I wanted it back on my cc. He should've informed me first that that was their policy before assuming I'd be fine with it. But my big problem wasn't with the cashier. It was with the manager who he called over to help void out the previous transaction. This woman had ZERO concern for my issue and essentially put the blame on me! All she did was insist that her employee did the right thing and warn me to bring in my receipt next time. When I told her he should've stated I'd be getting a card she snarkily retorted, "It's all right there on the back of your receipt." LOL Yo this girl was buggin'. We were so excited to live near a petsmart! sadly, we've had nothing but ridiculous interactions there, specifically with their trainers. They get extremely rude and confrontational if they see you doing any kind of training with your own dog in their store. which ISNT against their policy and we almost always purchase something when we go there. As a professional who works with dogs (not with training- other than my own), it's been an absolute ridiculous experience. We will be going back to Petco, where we were always welcomed and even invited to come back and train around their in training dogs during class times. read more

That poor little fellow cried and cried and was taken into the back. Yet again another terrible visit. We dropped our toy poodle to get TRIMMED. We specifically asked that we gets trimmed and nothing more. Last time we dropped our dog off, they got lazy and completely shaved him off. Guess what they did it again, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, I guess it's my fault this time. I'm attaching pictures of what Denisha, a horrfying groomer did to my boy. I am completely horrified and extremely upset at what they did. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO GET GROOMED THERE, they do not know how to do their job. They clearly don't know how to work on poodles or other dogs with longer hair and do not have proper training. They are lazy and extremely unprofessional. If you have to go due to convenience, make sure you do not leave your pup with denisha, she is rude, stuck up, completely unprofessional, and doesn't seem to care about you or her job. I will be calling corporate so they can take care of this. No refund will put his hair back. I am super upset, never ever again. read more

Sad experience both for me and my toy Yorkshire Terrier! Small salon dirty from worn wall paint to tables to floor. I feel the 2 very young techs who appeared to be inexperienced to the main groomer who seemed to be overwhelmed.Said she was sev hrs behind so pkup would be 4-5 hrs--for a tiny yorkie.Horrible results. As if a very inexperienced groomer had done cut. Very uneven on sides of face,ears super irregular. And pet kept shaking her head rest of evening.Shampoo and conditioner created a shiny soft result which is about the only positive comment on results. This is a sign of poor management from the very top in my opinion.Fee was only $23 cheaper than another local groomer who gave a more balanced cut. Staff needs guidance in proper skills and the entire place needs work. When door opened to kennels a loud roar could be heard and lg. blk hoses were draped over them.Very poor environment for stressed pets.Not goin' back to this store! read more

The grooming salon is the worst I have ever visited. I and new to the area and decided to get my dog groomed. We have been using Petsmart grooming for over 10 years in the Virginia area. We were turned away because our dog's hair was long and had certain spots that was tangled. I have NEVER had this happen in 10 years. The associate was not friendly and frankly I don't think she wanted to work. Very disappointed! read more

First off, I had such a bad experience with my 14 year old GSD in the Grooming Salon a year ago that I vowed never to give PetSmart any of my business ever again. HOWEVER..... we recently got a puppy and had such a terrible experience with Off Leash K9 that we were so desperate for training classes and decided to give it a try. LET ME TELL YOU--- Ms Renee is literally the best thing that's happened to us. These classes are only $129, what a steal!! Our puppy is learning more from these 1-hour classes than he did in 2 weeks with Off Leash K9 Training (which was $1400 and a nightmare to deal with afterwards). I still refuse to use the Grooming Salon here because I was very unhappy with how the store manager responded to my experience, so skip the salon and go to training with Ms Renee!! read more

Hi Dog Parents Today my boyfriend & I went into the store to purchase dog food (Instinct). When we got home, we noticed maggots were [ everywhere ] inside and at the top of the bag. When we returned the food, the associate at the front paged the other associates that [ another ] couple was returning food due to maggot "infestation". My boyfriend walked back to grab another bag of food and the maggots were all over the last two bags remaining so we got the last smaller bag instead. The staff were accommodating and understanding and once this was brought to their attention, they began cleaning the shelf and took the two bags of food to the back. I love that your corporate office thinks the idea of order online and pick up and save is a great idea... it is... but when your stores can't execute on it... its much worse than not offering it. I ordered an item online and waited for the email within the hour... Two hours later, I called the store to follow up. They said they had no record but would call me back ASAP. Three hours later, I called again. They had cancelled the order. Forgot to call me back I guess? They don't have it in that store. That was a waste of several hours. read more

The PetSmart groomers at Brier Creek in Raleigh, NC are the worst! My 4yr old Standard Poodle was traumatized there back in Jan 2021. They are unqualified to groom any animal with fur. They cut All of her hair off which left clipper burn marks on her. The worst part is that they cut her nail so short that they had to rush her to the Vet next door to stop the bleeding. Neither the Groomer nor the Vet bothered to call me. The only reason I found out is because I called to find out why the appointment was taking so long. When I got there they had the audacity to lie by stating that she broke her nail in the cage. When I complained, they called the police on me and my family. Four Raleigh officers showed up for nothing, so I quickly dismissed them. The store manager never called me and it took 2 weeks for corporate to call me back. Upon further research I found out that others have complained about the groomers cutting their dogs to short as well. STAY AWAY from this location; they have the worst management and corporate is no better! Oh, by the way they never bathed her even though they had her for 3hrs. They never got paid $108 they tried to bill me! read more

I brought my dog in to get his nails clipped/filed. Small talk. I added that the vet gave us some optional meds to give him at home to help keep him calm, and that the vet administered those meds to my dog at his vet visit. "But clearly," I added, "they are out of his system because look at him!" She nodded her head and agreed that he was hyper. She then said "well let me ask someone bc I don't think we can take him if he's on certain medications. Do you know the name of it?" "No I can't remember the name, I answered, but I will call my vet to get the name for you, just one second." She intercoms for her store manager to come to the grooming salon, so she can ask the question. There is also a woman who shouts from the back "hey, I don't think we can see him if he's on medication to calm him down." The woman, who just called for her manager replied to her saying "Well I just called Don, so I will ask him. Simultaneously, I get my vet on the phone, explain the situation to him, and put him on speaker. Here is where it got MESSY! The manager arrives, and says to the woman who called him, "find the list of medications, to see if we are still permitted to see him." While the woman is searching, my Vet begins to talk. Vet: "Hello sir, I can verify that Murphee was indeed seen and the medications that I prescribed him do not put him in ANY danger of him getting his nails trimmed or any other service for that matter. So he should be fine." Woman from the back, whom no one was talking to, walks up and enters the conversation: *Manager looks frustrated at her* Sir, I understand that but it is against our policy to serve animals who are medicated because we are not vets we can not monitor heart rates or things like that so we have no way of knowing if the dog will be safe. We don't know what side effects the medications have or anything. Vet: Well I'm happy to verify and confirm that there are no serious side effects to the meds that he is on and he is fine to receive services. Manager: Talking to the woman looking for the "acceptable medications list" "did you find the list yet? Woman: No, it's not here. Woman who entered herself into the conversation: It's not there anymore but it's our policy. I looked at the manager, who now looks confused. However, in a split second, he decided to go along with what the woman was saying. Manager: To me and the Vet (who's still on speaker), well yes it is our policy that we can't clip his nails because we have no way of knowing how the dog will react since he's on this medication. Vet: So, does the information that I just provided not give you any clarity? Manager: Well... *confused* look Vet: I also have a question, I see hundreds of Pets every week and a great majority of them are on some type of medication... why would your policy stop you from treating animals who are medicated? That seems... Manager: Well it's not my policy is Petsmart's policy so. *shrug* I hung up with the vet. I said "so, first you tell me that you CAN provide services as long as the medication that my dog had, is not on the list. Then, you (the woman) can't find the list for cross referencing. Then, a person who's not even a manager says "well it's what the policy says..." and you (the manager) hesitantly agree with her, on the grounds that you don't know what the meds will do... SO, I get my vet on the phone, Vet tells you that he's fine, but you still say you cant provide me services??? Are you aware of how this sounds, sir? The two ladies tried to jump in but, the manager asked to talk to me outside. "I'll handle it," he told them. I said "look, you aren't going to provide me services, even though I just went through all that...okay. Can you please show me in your policy, where it says that you don't treat medicated pets?" Manager: Ma'am, *shrugs* I actually don't know where it says that, but I know that is what is says. Um, you can google it maybe... or maybe check our website... Me: Google? I just asked you, a manager of an establishment to see, if you could show me, as in let me read, a policy that you are enforcing.... and in addition to everything else...you're tell me that you don't know where it is, and I should google it? Are you even aware that this is poor customer service? I know what, don't worry about it. Just know, that this is poor customer service and I will be filing a complaint. The point of my complaint is to reveal how rude, disorganized, and incompetent the staff were today. They need to be trained on how to answer a customer's question without rudely telling the customer to search for themselves. They need to keep necessary governing documents where they can be easily accessed, in the case of a customer question, and the workers who are NOT managers, don't need to nosily inject themselves into conversations that don't involve them. read more

I was greeted by several employees & since I didn't need assistance, I found the harness & checked out. I had a friendly employee complete my purchase. Took my 7 month old dog to training classes at store on Capital and Millbrook and what a total waste of time and money. I have it 2 stars because the teacher was nice. There were other dogs in the class that were much larger than my dog and their people could not control them and they kept coming up to my dog totally distracting her, she learned nothing in class, I taught her at home. We went to 3 out of 6 classes until I realized it was a waste of time. I tried to contact the store via email as I work and cannot call during the day. However their website does not give an email address, only a phone number. Their site says the have a 100% guarantee even to the point of allowing you to take classes over, I do not want to take classes over, I want the $120 I spent to be refunded. We love this PetSmart. We've been taking our dog here since the first day we adopted him and put him in puppy training classes. The trainer, Renee, is a puppy and puppy parent whisperer. During our three rounds classes (Puppy 1 and two attempts at intermediate 1) she did a GREAT job of teaching the class but also being available to answer any of our questions and work on different issues with our pup. It was so good to have consistency with our trainer from day 1 (9 weeks) through intermediate graduation (8 months). We've also had great experiences with the employees at this petsmart who were VERY helpful in tackling the aisles to figure out all the best things for our puppy. They got to know Pop really well during our 6 months of weekly visits for training so it felt like we were shopping at a boutique store vs a big box. read more

I chose to take my 1 year old lab mix to this location off of the basis of positive reviews for trainer Renee. Let me just say I was NOT disappointed with the training we received. After graduating from the beginner's class, I enrolled my dog into her intermediate level because she was just that great. She is so personable, kind, funny, and extremely knowledgeable. My dog loves Ms. Renee and she definitely loves my dog as well. I felt comfortable with her because she created a space for 1st time dog owners to feel that way. She teaches not only the dogs, but the owners too of explaining what dog body language/interactions with other dogs means and helpful tips for any problem areas with your dog. You won't regret taking classes with Renee. If you can please book each level with her! It's so worth it. read more

Was rejected for service because they think my dog has too much matted hair. She doesn't. She has some, but not at all unmanageable. In fact, I went home and brush it all off in less than 15 mins. I think they're just lazy and unexperienced? Their only option was to shave her all off. She's a shihtzu, it's not even a good idea to shave them. If they're a good groomer, they'll know. Plus, my dog was completely nervous when the technician hold her. And mind you she's a very very social dog. So yes, don't go here for grooming unless you wanna traumatize your dog. read more

We signed up for the refillable cat litter. Saves on the environment and is a little cheaper for us even with a 6 mile drive instead of a 1/2 mile drive. So we drive up in the dark cold rain. They are out with no foreseeable refill date. I hope the factory did not blow up and kill people. Most likely it is supply chain problems. There are so many questions but no answers. I love Petsmart in general, the grooming, the boarding, how people wander around with their dogs and the cashiers hand out free treats! However, I don't usually think to review big corporate box stores like these. BUT. I realised nobody had reviewed this location and I wanted to give them a shout-out. The Petsmart off Walnut St in Cary had been my favorite, but this place has EVERYTHING. I mean, they even had the heater I was trying to find for my hermit crab habitat. If you think it's easy finding the "hermit crab" section in most traditional pet stores, you must not have visited many pet stores. I was all set to order one online until I stopped in here on a whim, on my way home from Brixx. Pleasant surprise & saved me money on shipping! A+, Petsmart! read more

0 Stars- RUN WHILE YOU CAN. Took my sweet pup in on Sunday around 5 PM to get a full haircut. What about my day and continue to do what I have planned since I was told that I could pick him up around eight. Around 7 o'clock I received a frantic call stating that my dog had stopped breathing and his tongue was blue. The groomers blamed it on him having anxiety, however that is definitely not a sign of anxiety for a dog who has never experienced it. That is a sign of pure abuse of some kind of choking. I am not sure if he fell off the table with the leash around his neck or it was put onto tight however when he got home that evening he threw up in his cage. I gave it about two days before I took him to another groomer Who had no problems with him. He had no anxiety or problems getting his haircut around his face, feet, back area which was left untouched by Petsmart at Brier Creek. I do not recommend anyone to go to the salon and less you really know what you're getting her self into. I have a do you recommend The Dog Stylist who fixed my dogs horrible haircut and allowed me to rest a sure that it was not my sociable and sweet dog who was the problem. I am not saying that all Petsmart locations grooming department are horrible, however I will not be taking my dog back to the Brier Creek location. The connection to the worst big corp vet Banfield brings them down. But in n. raleigh cust service has been great. The training I did not get to directly participate in but was hanging while a friend had her dog in there. Lot of waiting around, lecture and everytime i looked i just saw people quietly sitting in their chairs with little interactive with people would have been turn off to me -especially at those prices. Too bad as Petsmart with such prime space could be social training hub. They have nice selection of goods overall but don't see any of the 'best' or healthiest dog food such as Acana on the shelves there. For that I go to Unleashed. Was hoping to socialize my dog their but don't see that happening either.. Fun to go their to pick up some fish or for dog treat or something like that..again great customer service..just they could be so much better.. read more

My boyfriend and I have been going to this pet smart since this past June when we adopted our lab mix from a local rescue. We've participated in puppy class, intermediate, and now advanced class all with Ms. Renee. She is a fantastic trainer, has helped us with a handful of items we've encountered while having a new puppy and has really changed our perspective on training a dog. Snoopy absolutely loves going to pet smart, and lovessss going to class to see Renee, we don't even matter to Snoopy when Renee is around. We hopefully will graduate with Canine Good Citizen and can take the therapy class next! I highly recommend seeing Renee for dog training. She also trains new dog trainers and have the pleasure of working with Logan who also does a great job! All the floor associates I have dealt with have always been super friendly and helpful in finding items we were looking for. We have only used the grooming area for nail trimming/grinding and always do walk ins. We haven't had any poor experiences thus far. read more

Rene is the best trainer!! Our puppy had behavior and aggression issues when we first brought her home, but after just a few weeks in puppy class we saw huge improvements. By week 4, everything clicked and she was doing all of the commands that we were learning. Rene works with each dog and their owners to help teach the puppy and make modifications as needed for each dog. Rene is so patient and makes class fun. We graduated from puppy class and are now taking intermediate class with her. Our puppy is doing so well and class and having a great trainer like Rene is such a huge part of it. We were looking at lots of puppy class options but are so glad that we picked Rene with Petsmart at Brier Creek in Raleigh. We have learned so much and look forward to going to class each week!! read more

I've always loved taking my dogs here for their grooming. It's saddens me to have to leave this review because I've trusted them for years with the cleaning and grooming of my dogs with no complaints. It is a totally different story here lately. I dropped off dog #1: When I picked her up, her cut was very, very choppy. I left without complaint because I just didn't trust them to fix this. If I saw this, they did too. I dropped off dog #2: (1 month later) He really needed a good bath because he was very smelly. I couldn't smell him when I picked him up. When I got him home I took him in the house and realized he was still smelly and the smell got worst each day. During this time I also noticed lots of white flakes in his coat. This let me know my dog was not washed. He was brushed and maybe sprayed with some fragrance at most. read more

My dog = fresh to death. Today I brought my spoiled rotten boxer to the groomers at PetSmart for the first time. Disclaimer: I'm what some people might say, "overly protective" of my dog, so this was a bit scary for me. Ordinarily I would have brought her to the nearest independent groomer but as I recently moved and haven't had time to find it, PetSmart was our easiest option. I just picked her up and oh em gee, so clean, so fresh. I felt like I could actually hear my dog humming "chillin' in the club in my b-boy stance" but I'm not sure as i was distracted by her sweet pink manicure as she was brought out to me. The groomer gushed over how great she was and explained everything about her time there. All concerns I had about if she was ill-taken care of in my absence melted away. She has recently been shedding something fierce so I opted for the Furminator package, if anything I figured the 45 minutes of brushing it included would be enjoyable for her. I'm so pleased! Her coat is shiny, soft and smooth and the LACK of hair left all over me after this 70 pound lap dog just got up is awesome. Based on our first and only experience here, I recommend highly any basic grooming needs your pup has. Accurate, inexpensive & time efficient. P.S. Please don't forget to TIP your groomer!! This is a service industry like any other, they receive a base hourly rate and tips greatly increase what they take home. read more

Took my dog in for a normal nail trim and the girls in the grooming salon were too lazy to cut them and refused to do it. They are very unprofessional and made up an excuse about how her nails weren't the correct length to cut. I had to drive to a different place to have them done and the groomer there said they needed to be cut and did it with no problem. I stood in this salon for 20 minutes while they decided not to cut her nails. This is usually a simple and quick thing and they were too incompetent to do it. She said if I didn't want to cut them at home myself why would she want to do it? Very sad. read more

Absolutely loved this PetSmart grooming! Took my 6 month old husky Camille to get a de shedding bath. They didn't give her that bath to begin with so when I went to pick her up they were very apologetic and said they would re do it the next day, took her the next day and she is just a new dog! Waited 10 minutes while the person at the fish wall collected way too many fish for some guy and kids. I was next to be helped and another employee came to the wall and started helping someone else. I am happy with most of the service in this store, but they have the lizard food (worms) in the same department with the fish. It seems that every time I need worms, I have to wait way too long for someone to go get them for me. The result is that I go to another nearby store that has them out in the open if I want worms. I see no need to stand around and wait when I don't have to. They do have bulk food for my picky cat and I can just run in and pick up a flat of them. I do not go to banfield inside petsmart. I could write a separate review, but the wait times got to be ridiculous. At one point sat for two hours and saw the vet walk out to lunch. I asked how long her lunch was and they said it was an hour! I understand she needs to eat, but I waited over four hours in the store with a cat in a carrier. read more
