I was dropping off my two doggies for grooming, walked into the grooming center and was absolutely appalled and disgusted with the lack of cleanliness of that place! My appointment was at 8:00am and I was the only customer there. There was tons of dog hair clippings all over the area where we check in, literally everywhere! They had not cleaned up any of the dog hair from at least the previous day. The area that holds the tables where the dogs hair is cut was evenly disgusting. I understand it's a grooming place, but it's also supposed to be cleaned daily. Never going back again. read more

I took my 13 yr old dog in for grooming. As a travel nurse, she has been to many Pet Smarts in the United States but San Antonio was by far the worst. I was charged $10 extra because she was older!!! Really! I was not told this on the phone. I updated my number when I made the appointment but when she was ready they called the old number and when they did look up my new number and called me the worker told me my dog was waiting for about an hour so I would be charged $15 dollars more. An extra $25 out of the blue. Of course I refused to pay it. Pet Smart has lost my business and my monetary donations because of this location. I really like this location, mainly because of the cats. I am a cat lover and when I travel down here for business I enjoy hanging out with the cats awaiting to be adopted. They take quite good care of them, such as ensuring siblings don't get separated. For example, they had a blind cat and refused to adopt its brother unless they also adopted the blind cat. The brother would lead it's sibling around by the tail....cutest thing I've ever seen. They have many senior cats needing a furever home, please consider stopping by and rescuing one...your new family member will be forever grateful. read more

This is my go-to pet store. It has all the standard pet supplies and small critters for purchase. It also houses a veterinary clinic and pet grooming. I've taken my pups to be groomed and they do a great job. In general, the prices are a bit high, but my fur babies are worth it! I did experience one incident in which I wanted to buy a tag for my new puppy. I asked the girl at the register if they had any other styles and she told me, just what they had at the register. When I went to the machine to print it out after I had settled for something I didn't really like, I found there were more tags hanging on the machine!! I went back and told her in the future, she should tell customers there were more on the machine. At that time, without apology, she offered to refund my money if I wanted to exchange it. Really? I hadn't really had a bad experience until this. The lines can be long at times and the staff is usually light if you need assistance, but the store is clean and well organized. If you like to save a few bucks $$ here and there, try the rewards program. read more

I've been shopping here for that last two years, they have our dog's favorite food at the best prices. I have been a rewards member the whole time, but it was not until this past weekend that I figured out their rewards program. Before, I would buy the dog food and they'd ask me for my rewards phone number and then I would pay, but not save a dime. Well, I was like... what the heck, type of rewards program is this. So, this past weekend, I figured it all out, by luck, the rewards program, is only for items that are marked with the red tag... I finally saved a $1 out of two years. Other than that, I love all the strange pet lovers and the dogs... Just bought puppy wet food, dog treat, dog edible chews and cat litter. Great selection of all these items. Lots of puppy food choices with no animal byproducts and fillers. I LOVE shopping for pet toys and treats after the holidays because everything remotely holiday looking gets drastically reduced in price. I got a nylabone usually $17 for $4. Recently I have been unable to find a non-clay alternative. I was very surprised and pleased to find wheat, corn, cedar, and compressed paper pellet cat litter at this PetSmart. You would be doing a disservice to your dog if you brought them here. Not only do they not treat your dogs with kindness and care, but they also have horrible customer service. The grooming center is disgustingly dirty as well as the store. Save your time and your money and find a groomer who will treat your dog as the members of your family that they are. Just so you know, speaking with a manager about any sort of issue or problems won't resolve things as they also don't care. We are new to San Antonio and had an amazing experience with our Petsmart back home, it's sad that this store is so trashy. read more

29 TICS, NEVER AGAIN!!! Took my dog to get groomed this past Saturday. I noticed she had a small black spot above her eye, I thought it was lint. When we got home, my daughter tried to remove it. We noticed it was stuck and there was a sore under, we realized it was a TIC!!! Called to complain and after speaking to an employee from the grooming salon, a store manager, I finally spoke to the grooming salon manager. The manager implied that my dog came in with the TIC because she told me that before they take dogs in, the groomer is supposed to check thoroughly behind their neck, between their toes, their tail, and other parts of the body to spot any Tics. If they find more than 12 tics on a dog, they will not take the dog in. That is the reason why she found it hard to believe that any groomer would have taken any dog in with more than 12 tics. In 9 years, the only thing the groomers have checked for were mats, on my dog and other dogs that were there before me. Needless to say my dog has been going to Petsmart for 9 years and has no history of fleas or tics. My dog is an indoor dog, off white and any Tic or fleas would have been spotted! I removed a total of 29 TICS!! My dog only weigh about 10 lbs!! Took her to the vet, and what the vet told me was that if my dog contracted any disease from a tic,I would not notice right away. They said it usually takes around 4 months to notice. We are so upset! Petsmart gave me a refund and the reason I accepted it was because my dog also had feces on her leg and chest when I picked her up! Called corporate and waiting on a call back!! That's fine too, but she could have called someone else to help, but instead talked on the phone like we weren't there. Dropped off my dog to be groomed. Our usual groomer that my dog would see, Daysa, has now resigned and we were given a new groomer, Billie. First, her personality and attitude was not very welcoming. Second, when we picked her up it did not look like she had been cut at all. Becuase we were headed out of town I called to speak to someone about the issue. I was told to bring my dog back in the following Wednesday, she was cut the Thursday before. The second time we dropped our dog off to actually have her cut we were told her hair was too tangled so they had to cut it off. (Mind you she was just there Thrusday and being tangled was not an issue.) For some reason, it seems that the staff changed, they are not as excited about their job, and they are cutting just to move on to the next. After 2 years, it is safe to say... My dog will never be taken back to this location! read more

They have toys out from different holidays right now; it looks like they might be clearing up some inventory. This location has small grooming salon but not a place for classes or socialization like some of the larger locations. Lots of people were walking around with their friendly dogs and seemed happy to say hello! 5 stars= Driving across town just for this! 4 stars= I would recommend visiting. 3 stars= Average, acceptable, positive. 2 stars= You might be able to drag me in. 1 star= I will definitely not be returning. read more

If you have a shih tzu, do NOT take your dog here to be groomed. We have taken ours here for some time now and several of those times, they have not cleaned the hair out of his ears. We have told them numerous times to do so on account of him getting ear infections very easily (like most shih tzus get). It is truly an inconvenience to pay someone about $60 every month or two then turn around and have to purchase antibiotics for a pesky case of otitis externa, not to mention that my dog is suffering. Besides that, they usually give him a fairly good haircut, especially around his paws and tail. A little more work could be done around the face sometimes. read more

I agreed but had the time wrong, but they were very nice and Kristina worked him in. They called about 3 hours later to let me know he was ready. Price was more expensive then what I scheduled plus we didn't get the military discount but that was probably our fault. Rocky was happy and looks great. I really like his report card. Let me start by saying That I along with partner not that weird particularly proud of that but are not ashamed either my partner went to our appointment at the veterinarian part of the PetSmart on 1604 and Culebra and he was treated very poorly being talked about to within earshot of him about our living status and that we cannot afford to take our dog to the veterinarian which we can and we have money and all we want is what is best for our dogs that we love as much as you love your dogs and there are children also never, has he ever been so humiliated and felt put down I cannot believe the employees at this place would act this way. Just keep your ears open while you're there because they'll be talking about you too. We will be taking our 2 beautiful Shih Tzus Elsewhere for their health treatments.Many people in our area I probably seeing us with our two dogs in their stroller, they are taking great care of they are groomed as needed and very much loved and they deserve the respect as anybody else as well as we do. read more

I usually go to Lucky's Pet grooming across town because years ago they would not accept my shihtzu due to him being afraid of clippers near the face. but my boyfriend suggested I go back and give it a try since my shihtzu has had more practice with one of the best groomers in town. I had an old friend who brought her dog here and there were never any issues. So I figured I try out a bath for the shihtzu and a small face trim for my yorkie. I went in and made an appointment for my shihtzu to get a bath. No problem. With my yorkie- I just wanted her face trimmed and to clip her nails. The clerk wasn't sure what to charge me and asked another technician. They wanted to charge me a full groom! Mind you full grooms vary from $35 to $50. I pointed out that they had a face and feet trim for $14.99 on their price sheet that is on their desk. They explained that was for "walk ins" only and they couldn't charge me that price if I made an "appointment". What??? That doesn't make any sense. I just want her face trimmed and they have nail clippings sold separately as they have it on the price sheet. When I wanted to cancel BOTH dogs due to this she said that I could bring my yorkie in for a "walk in" the next morning when I come in for the appointment for my shihtzu. I told her that I've tried coming in for walk ins before and they told me several times that they could not do it because they are always too busy (and I go on weekdays not weekends) that's why I want to insure that I can get service the next day if I come in for a walk in instead of an appointment and not be turned away like before. she informed me that I should just ask for a manager if they deny a walk in. Why would I do that? If a technician denies my service, why would I get a manager? She said if I came in the next morning with both dogs it would be fine to be taken in. I came in and they took my shihtzu first for just a bath and nail clippings. They then took my yorkie and asked for a round teddy bear face? I said yes. The technician said she would be done in 15 min. Really??? She said yes because their hair drys faster. Perfect! So she's getting a bath, face trimmed, and nails clipped in 15 min. I went to go home and changed for work and figured I could pick her up and drop her off before I head in. When I received a call 15-20 min later I explained I just left to get dressed for work and was on my way back. She said she could stay since my other dog was there still and he would take 3 to 4 hours (for a bath). Sure, I'll just pick them up after work at 4 then. I received several phones calls through out the day about my yorkie. I guess the first technician never explained that SHE suggested that I could pick them up after work with the shihtzu. Once arriving, As I waited for my two dogs I was watching another technician groom a dog. The dog seemed frightened and kept pulling away. The technician kept loudly demanding the dog to stop biting, although the dog wasn't biting. When the technician moved the dog, she teamed she had clipped the dog and there was blood on the table!! She picked up the dog and came back to the table with a spray and wipes to clean the table. She cleaned it as she held the dog. This worried me because my shihtzu is not find if clippers and this made me suspect maybe this could be why. I just hope that the owner of THAT poodle was aware of the small cut. I then received my shihtzu and he looked great! He was fluffy, soft and smelled clean! It was nice to get him a little pampered! I then received my yorkie and it looked like they shaved her head! It is so short! She didn't looked bathed or smelled clean like my shihtzu. They never gave me a paper explaining what they did or have any notes for the dog like they gave to the guest in front of me. They just gave me my tab to pay out in front of the store. My yorkie made an accident and a helpful team member directed me to where I could clean it up. I explained my frustration and she said she could give me a discount. She originally said she would give me 15% off of the Yorkie's grooming service. I said thank you for the effort. She was trying to make it right and I appreciated that. She then was ringing me up and offered me 25% off the Yorkie's service instead of the 15%. she DID mention that I should ask for a certain groomer, but I forgot the groomers name. I then looked at the price for the face trim and it was originally $34.00! For a face trim? I assumed it was for the face trim, nail clippings, and bath combined in one price. But my dog didn't even looked like she was bathed! I appreciate the team member giving me a discount, I do. She was trying to make it right and I love company's who will fix their mistake. I will keep bringing my dogs to get their food, treats, and toys here but I don't be returning to get groomed. I will drive across town to Lucky's grooming where they are known for grooming all types of dogs and styles. read more

Almost forgot to post, take your business to the 1604/Potranco location.... I called to this location to see if they could check if my dogs food was in stock. My normal location had ran out and shipment was late. The lady that answered my call said that they weren't allowed to go check for items in stock cuz they only had two ppl working. I was having trouble ordering online and the app wouldn't proceed to my payment. I asked if she could check later if they weren't busy and she said no. They are also not allowed to hold things, according to her cuz of the pandemic going on. All I needed PetSmart was for you all to check if my dogs $75 food bag was in stock since I did my part ordering online! I buy every two weeks; as I have a Great Dane .... The groomers clearly don't like to work with bigger dogs, especially a groomer by the name of JC. The first time checking my dog in, JC was quick to point out any reason on why she wouldn't be able to accommodate my dog. As soon as he started barking in the kennel, she called to let me know she wouldn't be able to do the service. It was very apparent from the start that she was looking for any reason to get out of the job. She told me I'd have to reschedule him for an express service - which meant I would have to stay in the store during his service and would be charged an additional $15!!! For what????? Its appointment based and they don't put them in the back in the cage - why is there a fee? I was told during the reschedule they would waive the fee and was rescheduled for the following week. The day before the appointment, I randomly checked the app and noticed his express appointment was canceled. I called, JC answered and I received a ton of excuses as to "why" it was canceled (they didn't know - ultimately saying it was a glitch) and rescheduled me (without waiving the $15 of course). I thought about it and ended up canceling after being annoyed with the situation. Recently, I decided to give them one more shot and prescheduled an appointment over a week ago(express). Go figure, none other than JC calls to let me know his appointment has been cancelled yet again and I would need to reschedule. What a joke. JC, find another job girl. read more

I was a customer for 7 years for 2 dogs and after today I will never have my dogs groomed here again. Terrible customer service. They had me drive to their location 2 days in a row for appointments and both day was told they could not groom my dog after arriving because she has had seizures in the past. She has never had a seizure while being groomed because she is on meds twice a day that I give her faithfully so she doesn't have seizures. They said they can only groom her Monday through Friday no weekends. I am tired of driving 40 miles round trip for them to tell me something they could of told me on the phone when I made the appointment. My dogs information along with her shot records Is in their system so this was no surprise. My dog Pixy was groomed by Gabby and she was wonderful for years but she left on maternity leave so we will be finding a new location to have her groomed but it will not be PetSmart. read more
