This review is for the grooming department, there store and employees are great, so I'm writing this for grooming. I made an appointment for a basic bath and nail trim, ear cleaning. The workers seemed nice but I cannot believe they did a proper cleaning. My dog is a house dog first off. She smelled clean for about 2 hours, the worst part is I cleaned her ears the very next day and they were filthy. Before her visit she was at the dog park, which was the reason she was taken to the groomers in the first place... For a proper cleaning. Anyway. Her ears were filthy inside, in the packet summary of what was done, it listed her ears were cleaned with a solution. Straight out lie. They do the minimal work and I have no reason to believe they did anything but spray her down. Don't waste your money. read more

In the past month, I have been to two Petsmart stores, UTC San Diego & Rosecrans Street. I am unable to buy my cat food "Fancy Feast" at all! Both stores shelves look as though the stores are closing. I have had to buy this basic cat food at my Von's on Washington street. Which is a bit more costly BUT at least they have it! I don't know what's up that a pet store does not stock its shelves in months. I was actually told "Inventory is coming up & we don't want to count all that food". This is dog poo! I spend around $200.00 a month for my furr kids & they are going to lose my business for good! I have been shopping at Petsmart since the day they opened x $200.00 a month. Now that's s lot of money! So disappointed in Petmart. They are becoming as bad as PetCo. So very sad! My pets are not happy with you either read more

This review is in guards to the Petsmart Pet Grooming department only at 1660 Camino De La Reina, San Diego, CA 92108, not the Pestmart Stort itself. I stopped by Petsmart pet grooming to get my dogs nails trimmed, arriving at 8:30 as I have in the past on Sundays and the groomers station is open with 3 employees in the grooming area, 1 working on brushing a dog (nametag - Anan F) and 2 sitting and chatting doing absolutely nothing. I was turned away by the one employee brushing and said before 9 they don't take walk-in's, only take appointments only and I would have to come back at 9 as a walk-in. Looking at the 2 sitting I just asked are you all just too busy, I was rudly informed by Anna F it's policy not to take walk-ins before 9 and I'd have to come back. This is disturbing that any company would turn business away over a policy when the employees there not being gainfully employed at the time. I could understand enforcing the appointments only policy before 9 am if they we're all busy and could not fit it in, but in this case, they are inforcing the policy to be Lackadaisial Chatty Cathies. So out of agervation and just to see if they actually had appointments lined up that they could not support me, I sat in my vehicle for 30 minutes watching them through the front window as the other 2 groomers sit gosiping and laughing, at 8:57 open person shows up for a 9 Am appointment and they let her in. When I arrived at 9, the two that we're sitting around finally got up and took my dog and did his nails, which took a total of 8 minutes, hard to imagine how they can justify 2 employees sitting around chatting onbthe clock for 30 minutes doing thing when one could of been working on a dog - which I thought was their job time. This will be my last time supporting Petsmart, next month I will be finding another place for my pet grooming needs, basic time management stills, along with actually pets first over personal time gratification. read more

I love Petsmart grooming at this location and only because of BRIAN. He is amazing and very nice to my dogs. In other places after my pooches get groomed it seems as if they suffer from stress not sure why though. Now they get haircut from Brian only and my pooches always comes out happy after the haircut. Today, Elizabeth the blonde manager at this location was in such a hurry she almost ran my daughter over with a shopping cart knocking the trash can she was carrying on the bottom on top of my 2 year old. Update on my fat cat. She hated the diet food. She told me by behaving badly. So I switched to Blue Buffalo Salmon cat food. She likes it. She tells me she likes it at 5 am. Typically Petsmarts are whatever, but I'm bias towards this one because 1) it's conveniently located near ALL THE THINGS (i.e., Mission Valley mall, Fashion Valley Mall, Target, Starbucks, In n Out, Trader Joe's, Ulta... ok I'll stop). So even if my visit here is a bust, at least I can go to any other hundreds of stores in the area to get my money-spending fix. 2) My boyfriend and I adopted our babygirl, Arya, from this place today! It was an adoption event hosted by the Second Chance Dog Rescue. We'd been scoping out a ton of other shelters, humane society locations, and pet stores, but other places just didn't have "the one" for us. This Petsmart helped us find our furever companion! And 3) Decent sized store with an adequate selection of competitively priced products; bigger than a couple other Petcos I've been too and friendlier staff, too. read more

I've been to this grooming salon twice and I'll never go back. I ended up with the same rude groomer both times. The first time they took 6 hrs to groom my dog and then wanted me to come get her before they dried her because she had anxiety, and they were "busy". When I did go get her after the 6 hrs her hair cut was awful and she wasn't bathed very well. A few months later I just needed a nail trim and went in as walk in because it is the closest groomer to my house. The same groomer ended up cutting my dogs nails to short and she was bleeding. They did put quick stop on it, but they acted like it was no big deal and she would fine and told me if the bleeding continued to make a paste. I know accidents happen, but it left me feeling awful that I brought my dog back to that place. I would leave a one star review but there is another groomer I observed while waiting for my dog and he was so loving and gentle with the dog he was grooming. So I'm leaving another star for him. Megan in grooming is awesome! I went in to get my two chihuahuas nails trimmed and anal glands drained and she made sure only to charge me for one of my dogs after checking both their anal glands, because one did not need it. She took them one at a time and it was quick and painless! Usually one of my dogs cries loudly and I did not hear a peep from him while he was in her care. I've had a negative experience with grooming there before with a different employee but figured I'd try again for convenience sake, and I'm so glad I did! Thanks again Megan! read more

I've been to this store 3 times since i moved to the area. every time i asked a question, i got no answer. the employees in that store would simply ignore my questions. i asked an employee about selecting a harness for my new puppy, and she said the only way to help is to bring my dog to the store. when i went home and brought my pup back to the store, she said she was too busy and sent someone else who just pointed to the harness area and said any one would work and just pick the right size. he didn't understand why there was a question. and today a cheshire simply ignored my reminder of a discounted item, twice, and checked me out at full price. when i asked again after he finished, he said the discount didn't apply and turned to help the next customer. i went to another cashier and she said the discount had to be enter manually. when i asked her why the first cashier didn't bother to do it, she shrugged her shoulder and said "ok" and turned away. read more

Never coming back here again. Their closing time posted 7pm online and in store but I when I took my puppy in for a nails trim, they said they're closing 4pm due to some training they're doing. Trimming a puppy's nail is literally less than 5-10 minutes... she said they had to clean the salon and finish up the dog they're working on. Trimming is so quick and she was so lazy and couldn't even do it herself because she wanted to close. I wasted gas and time to come here for them to tell me they can't trim my dog's nails because they had to go early and to clean. She was free too... yet she refused. Customer service sucks, never been more dissatisfied. First time I took my puppy here for grooming, he was so itchy and it was very severe. Other places he's okay though so read more

First of all I love that a Petsmart was finally located in Mission Valley. So much more convenient. Everytime I've came to this location I've had exceptional service. Reason I'm writing this review is I had an issue with a bag of dog food I had recently bought. I came in to return a half used bag of dry dog food, and was able to exchange it no problem without a receipt even! The cashier Stephanie was helpful, personable, and knowledgeable. The manager Eddie was quick to resolve the issue and forgiving of product being unsatisfactory. I was completely stoked on how helpful sweet, and quick to resolve the situation the staff was. This was the first time I used the grooming salon and this will definitely be my last. At least at this location (Camino de la Reina). My puppy was scheduled for a 2:00 wash and groom. When I showed up the groomer informed me of the services she would provide and then proceeded to tell me that she's going on lunch so she would wash my pup and then he would be in a kennel because she HAS to take this 30 minute lunch. So I'm not sure why they scheduled us for 2pm when we could have come at 3 and avoided our dog being put in a kennel? Seemed like a waste of mine and my dogs time. When she took him back he peed a little bit because he was nervous for his first visit, which I informed her would happen. When we came back 45-50 minutes later, assuming she would be back from lunch by now and started on his trim (we wanted to watch our good boy), she was indeed back and indeed not working on our pup. So we ask what the hold up was and she tells us it's going to be another hour and a half, easily. Fast forward to picking him up, he runs out and pees a little more from being excited (he's 3 months, what do you expect) the groomer seemed annoyed even though I offered to clean up after him. Overall, she was rude, not helpful, and I wish I would have got her name but you can't miss her she's the only woman in there with chin hair. read more

Prices could be better and the store is a little small, but the staff at this location is very nice and the store is always clean and organized (unlike some other PetSmart locations). This is a brand new store and it's obvious the team here has some pride in making sure their store is the best in the area. Note to small animal owners: Don't buy Carefresh with odor control (which is all that seems to be sold nowadays). The baking soda in it will make your pet sick (respiratory infection) and some owners have said it's even killed their pet. PetSmart still puts a sticker on the rodent cages saying it's the recommended litter. =[ Buy the National Geographic Natural type litter or get the non-odor-free Carefresh from the House Rabbits Society of San Diego in Kearny Mesa. read more

Brought my 16 pound pup in to be groomed. Made the appointment the day before- asked for a bath- brush and nails to be done. Paid the extra to have the grinding done and the extra brushing. When dropping him off asked about how long it would take and Criss said a couple hours but we are closing at 4 so definitely before then. Well I have other scheduled appointments today- meaning 330 so asked if he would be done by 3. When we went to pick him up we were informed that his front nails weren't done at all and when we got him into the car it was almost as if he hadn't been brushed at all- hair everywhere. Which honestly is unacceptable when you are spending $56 and expecting a service to be done. Honestly I could have done this myself and saved the time and money. Then they tried to give my husband some piss poor excuse in why it looked as if he wasn't brushed at all. - they also said my dog started to bite- he has been getting groomed since he was a pup and has never bit- not even my two year old who is pretty tough with him. Needless to say I shouldn't have had to pay full price and save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else. read more

The WORST pet store EVER! I went in to buy deworming medicine for my dog and they rang me up for a cat dewormer. I walked back into the store not even two minutes later, I spoke with James and Jessica (the managers on duty at the time) showed them the entire display of multiple of the same item I had wanted to purchase and they assured me they didn't have the item. I asked them to remove the item from display (in TAG form) so other customers were not mislead into purchasing the wrong item. They carelessly sold me a wrong product and to top it all off, it was for cats! They let me know they did not carry the one I had requested that was sitting on the display along with multiple others for customers to purchase. They let me know they would remove the item from display however when asking what other dog dewormers they had, they told me they didn't sell ANY dewormers for dogs. It showed online that the store carried multiple deworming brands for dogs available for pick up that day. They said during the Covid 19 they would not allow us to return OR EVEN EXCHANGE the item even though the mistake was clearly on them. Imagine if I had fed this to my dog, this facility needs some serious customer service training and managers on duty need to be replaced immediately. I will NOT be returning to this PetSmart. I wish I had the option to give it zero stars. read more

Brad and Lesli were so helpful! I had gone to Petsmart the day before to purchase something that would help with my dogs barking. When I returned the next day to say the product did not work Brad was extremely helpful. He redirected me to better options, gave me personal tips on dog training, and stayed with me throughout all my shopping to point me in the best direction. At checkout Lesli and Brad were doing price comparison to get me the best deal. They exchanged my product and I ended up paying only $12 for a $40 value. So helpful and they really cared! read more

I brought my 6 month old golden retriever in for a bath and haircut grooming session for the first and last time at this location. I was told when dropping him off it would take 2-3 hours because I had elected to add a shampoo/condition service, nail trim, and teeth brushing for an extra $22. I revived a call 3 hours later saying my dog would not be ready because he wasn't very fond of the hair dryer and instead had to be "kennel dried". Another hour later (at nearly closing time) I went to pick him up and was told they didn't have enough time to give him a hair cut because of the drying situation. Instead of working out a solution, Lily blamed it on me not arriving on time with the dog and him being poorly behaved. I have never once had an issue with my dog when we brush his teeth, or trim his nails, etc. It could've been having an off day but it seems unlikely for him to be so bad that they couldn't complete a bath and haircut in over four hours! I was stuck paying $60 for a half ass job, and I'll still have to take him to another groomer for a haircut. Not only that but my dog was locked in a kennel for 4 hours, presumably wet, lonely, and scared, as they waited for him to dry. To top it all off, my dog still has a puppy smell; so I'm doubting whether or not they even bathed him. I will not be returning to this Petsmart. Lily and her team's poor customer service and quality of work has cost them a customer for good. read more

This place used to be great. A groomer named Sammie was the absolute best. The last few times we've been here the service has definitely been lacking. Today I went to drop my dog off for his bath, I arrived at 3:54pm for my 4pm appointment and was told to 'wander around the store' because my groomer wasn't in until 4pm... this seems like poor scheduling, groomers should be scheduled 15 min or so prior to their first appointment IMO. Or another groomer should be able to check us in to the appointment. 5 minutes early is a courteous window. Also, my poor pup has super high anxiety about the groomers so this was torture for him. I was able to drop him off at 4:03pm. I have also shown up to pick him up at the time they've told me only for him to still be on the grooming table. Again adding to his anxiety and wasting my time. Oh, and they never give my my bandana. I think I've received it 2 times? Despite always gerring the Top Dog or Top Dog Plus package. We are moving so this is my last groom here and I can't say I'm sorry. read more

I would advise to steer clear of the grooming department at this location. Perhaps they were short-staffed, but the staff that was on was apathetic, lacking in customer service and didn't appear to enjoy or know how to handle dogs. I was there at noon today for a walk-in service and the woman handling the desk was on the phone and didn't acknowledge or even look up at me. I waited and the other groomer was grooming a dog, and said I'll be with you soon. The groomer had been saying with a frustrated voice, "Stop it! Stop it! Stop it!" to the dog repeatedly approximately ten times within a minute, and it seemed as if he didn't know how to handle the dog and didn't enjoy working with dogs. The dog he was working with wasn't listening and he was increasingly distracted looking at my dog. My dog is a border collie/lab puppy with a lot of energy and wants to say hi to every dog he sees. Yes, his behavior needs improvement, but this is something that is also expected with this age and breed. My dog would sit, but was getting excited, so I told the man, "I'll wait right outside because I think they're distracting each other," which seems to be an obvious way to deal with the behavior from both of them, so the groomer didn't continue getting more frustrated with the dog that kept looking at my dog. The man said "okay," and the other worker still didn't acknowledge me or look at me. I was right outside the window waiting where they could both see me, when I realized the worker on the phone was done, they had both been done, but didn't bother to wave or even gesture to me to come in, but appeared to be doing nothing as there were no other customers there. A woman passed by me and my dog with her smaller dog, and my dog and her dog were both excited. My dog lunged trying to meet her dog as he does on the leash, but didn't come within 3 feet of her dog. Her dog was barking, yelping and scurrying its little feet in place, wanting to go in the direction of my dog as well as the woman held him back. She walked in and the workers began helping her, and I walked in to get service, as I had been there waiting approximately 7 minutes before her. I tried to get the groomers attention, which they seemed to not want to be there or didn't want to help me, and the woman, (the other customer), sternly said, "There's something wrong with your dog," and I said, "My dog's fine," and continued to try to get help from the apathetic worker. The woman said, "Well, there's something wrong with you then." Not only did I encounter staff who were not helpful at all, wasted my time, but I was also unjustly verbally debased. They just stood there silent and dumbfounded while the rude woman made those comments while I responded that he's a puppy and a high energy breed. She continued to say, "They have training classes here," while I was still waiting to get help. Needless to say, I left and took my business and tips elsewhere, bought my dog some toys at the place I went to and won't be returning this Petsmart. This could have been easily avoided had the workers been engaged in their job and told me they were ready to help me when they were done, and hadn't served the other customer first when I had been there first. Perhaps management needs to have more staff on, train in better customer service, or hire people who want to work with dogs. read more

Took my dog here to get her bath and groom. I was early before the store open and one of the employee saw me and let me in to the grooming salon. I was greeted with one of the groomer who took my dog and told me it would be 3-4 hrs before she would be ready. After about 2 hrs, I received a call that my dog is ready for pick up. When I arrived, I was greeted and asked that I pay for the service first and they would get my dog. This staff at this place were very friendly and concerned for the well being of your pet. After I took my dog from the grooming salon, I did a little shopping in the store. The staff were attentive and asked if I needed help. This place is very friendly and they took the time to help you with your needs. I will definitely return here for my pet's needs. read more
