Management and employees in charge of the betta fish at this location need to be fired. It's bad enough they kept in little cups, but at this location those cups are filled with dead, rotting, and dying fish. The water is filled with murky water, algae, and a lot of feces. TERRIBLE grooming experience. We took my puppy in to get his nails trimmed for the first time. I called before to confirm that it is in fact a walk in service. It was confirmed the nail trim was on a walk in basis and to bring his vaccination records. When we walk in to the grooming room, there was a woman sitting down (no dogs in sight) and before we get out a full sentence she laughs and says, "ooooh noooo we do not have time for a nail trim today. We are short handed and there is just no way" Turns out there walk in service works when it's convenient for them. I was in disbelief by the customer service (lack there of) and will never go back. We went to PetCo instead and had the polar opposite experience and will be bringing our business to PetCo from now on! read more

Recently got a big bag of dog food there, which I normally don't I just grab it during a target run. Paid for the bag walked out threw away the receipt and a couple of days later my kids transferred the food from the bag to the dogs covered containers. When I went to put a scoop in their bowl I noticed some little web looking things in and stuck to the food. I started sitting through and it was EVERYWHERE. It looked like spider webs and they were sticky. I even pulled out what looked like little moths (that's what they were I just wasn't sure at the time.) I called petsmart and explained what happened and that I no longer had the bag or the receipt. They manager Christian was awesome. He said the bag might have had a rip or was old so they were moths that got and in and their larvae . He told me come in and my earliest convenience and either get a new bag which he would open and inspect or my money back. He was very helpful and I was so glad I called! really disappointed in customer care today in this store on santa rosa avenue. i visited to exchange some unopened canned cat food for the same brand but different texture, was a little over dozen cans or so, about $20.00 worth. megan helped me which claimed to be one of the store managers. she wouldn't do the exchange without a receipt in hand. explains my ID must match my phone number membership for exchange. my husband was the one to purchase and he doesn't mess around with phone numbers or memberships etc. for one thing i've NEVER returned anything here before... now i could understand if someone had a history of returns/refunds, but i was doing just a simple exchange. also, right in front of the register sign claims returns without a receipt are fine, but exchange for same item or gift receipt given (or something of that matter). i literally have no words i got on the phone with petsmarts customer care 1-800 number at the register, in front of megan and they stated megan was not in the right and they didn't understand what the problem was. they kindly sent me an e-gift card on the spot for the value of the foods for purchasing what my kitties liked and i donated what i needed to return to a local kitty rescue... what happened to human kindness? what happened to "assuming best intent?" she succeeded in making me feel like i was doing something against the law (which i think was her intent) ‍ weird i guess dishonest thieves ruin it for the good eggs out there. i hope petsmarts district manager sees this. i have shopped at petsmart since the '90's. never been treated so poorly, ever. santa rosians can easily shop at pets club across the street and save $$$ but like others i've shopped with petsmart since my first puppy 30 years ago! and not like it will make much of a difference or anybody at petsmart cares, i'll be shopping at pets club in the future. one mistake by an employee and you've lost a life long fan TIP! if you want to exchange with no receipt, go to rohnert park!!! they didn't even question me. read more

I don't usually write these things but today was frustrating. My sons goldfish died this morning so I went in the store to replace it before he woke up. They refused to sell me the 1 large sized ( it was still small by my standards) goldfish because they said the tank I had was not big enough. I was told that I could buy a bigger tank and then they would sell me the 1 goldfish. That didn't make any sense either because I would of needed to cycle the new tank at least 24 hours before adding the fish. I asked to speak to a manager and was told the same thing but then she preceded to sell me 2 ( two) gold fish that equal the same size as the large one. How does that make any sense??! This is not good business. I feel they were trying to add sales as much as possible and this is bad business! I will not go back to this store again. read more

---This is a review based on the grooming salon alone, the main store staff have been very kind to me every time I'm up here--- Not impressed. Showed up because my pup was shedding so much I could swear we were breathing her hair in the car. Took her to the grooming salon her and it was like they were so determined they wouldn't cut her. The whole time they had a "we can't" attitude. Firstly they wanted her rabies paperwork in order to work on her. They said the rabies tag she wore on her collar doesn't count. I'm from San Diego so my sincere apologies that I didn't bring my dog's rabies paperwork wherever I go. If only I had a magic crystal ball that reminded me to bring them with me on my long trip up here, Secondly, they were making it seem as though they've never trimmed a german shepherd or a husky before asking another if the other could do it. Then they decided to go through with the process that they couldn't verify my dog's rabies shots so they'd have to wait a couple hours to call the Petsmart down in San Diego to confirm she had her shots. A couple hours just to verify that? It's not as if I live in the Middle East or anything San Diego time is the same as Santa Rosa they're open at the same time. Or perhaps they needed to send a horse messenger down there first. That aside, the two stars are for the great staff of the main store that are always more than happy to help out. read more

Let's start by saying I shop here at least once a week, 60-300$ each time. I purchased the large size crate made by KONG. I got it home ( mind you I live an hour away) and unpacked it to see that the black crate tray was completely busted. I load the crate back up and take back to the store. I explain that the tray is busted and I need to exchange it and that would I be doing some more shopping for a new dog we added to the family. I do my shopping and come back to the front and get in line with the same associate who told me we could exchange the crate. She then processes it as a return and tells me I have to pay 29$ difference for the same exact crate, I tried to a plain that I was just exchanging for the same product, and that I was sold a broken one originally. She argued with me for about 10 minutes saying that I had to pay the difference for the same exact crate since I had previously used a 25% off coupon on the original purchase. She then gets management involved and the man comes over and explains that when I purchased I used a coupon and they could no longer honor the coupon. I tried to explain to them I wasn't purchasing a new crate that I was exchanging. He then gets mad and said "we'll since you're gonna argue I'll just give it to you" and "comped" the extra 29$ I supposedly owed. After the store associate and manager made me feel horrible, embarrassed, and flat out treated me rudely I loaded up the crate and the 100$ worth of other products I had purchase that day to get home and find the tray for the 2nd KONG crate cracked. I recently filled out an application to adopt a cat from pets mart and they said I was the first application in-line and it would take 3 or 4 days to process. Today was day for and I called to find out the status of the application and they said I'm sorry we already adopted the cat to another family. They didn't say my application was denied, just that maybe somebody was before me . I specifically asked when I filled it out if there were other applications ahead of me and they said no, I was the only one. I am very upset and disappointed . I hope the family he went to take very good care of him. He disperses a happy home.. As for pet smart they really need to rethink there a potion process,I am really heart broken with no real explanation about what happened . read more

I've used these guys to groom some of my shih tzu and they did a decent job. I wouldn't have a problem taking them back there as long as they were familiar with how a shih tzu should look. I have always been a customer of PetSmart, but this experience that I have recently had has made me a life long customer and has changed my whole out look on the business. I had to bring my three dogs in to get medical treatment. At first they were just check ups, but it turned into each of the having some kind of surgury oral or other. I was very overwhelmed at first, but the staff and Banfield and PetSmart helped me settle my fears and worry. The staff at PetSmart were so helpful. I had all three of my dogs with me and they immediately could see I needed assistance. They helped me locate my dogs food, carry the big bag to the register, carry my shopping basket and then also helped carry everything to my car. One of the staff members even priced matached my dogs food, so I didn't have to go out of my way again with sick dogs to get the food where I had been getting it for less. That right there, was such an amazing and helpful moment. I made my third visit there this week with my pets. They remembered me and asked about the dogs and how they were doing. It was very comforting to know, that they cared. I got to let off some steam to them and they reinsured me the girls will be alright. It was not until today that I am making this review, because their impact on my last few days there making hospital runs have been so much help and I wanted to acknowledge them all. Not only that, but if you ever feel like you can not afford your pets health exspences, please think again! Banfield has Pet Wellness Plans. These plans are very affordable and have saved me so much money, I thought I'd be paying this off for years but it cut my bill in half! I even was approved for a Care Credit card, which took the burden of having to pay upfront and let me pay these bills in 18 months. So please, go get your pets seen. Had I have known about the Pet Wellness Plans at Banfield, I would have gotten my dogs medical treatment alot sooner! Today I went and got more things for my girls and was bringing one of my girls home from the vet. She was in a shopping cart that a lovely Banfield staff member brought to me. I was rung up by a really awesome girl her name is not on the receipt, but the cashier number is 643910. Thank you for remembering Poppy and asking about how she was doing today. Very kind of You! The staff all gathered to wish Doobie well, and gave suggestions on wet food for her sensitive teeth from cleaning. I called the store when I got home, Nikki answered and went to look for more wet dog food for me as my dog loved it. Nikki found all the ones I wanted, then put them aside for my next visit. She was very patient and kind. The best part about Nikki is that when her and I kept talking on the phone, the service was very choppy and cut out alot, she stayed on the line with me and waited to make sure I could still hear her on the other end. She kept apologizing for the phone cutting out. Totally not her fault but she was very professional and kept me on the line until the transaction between us was over. Thank you Nikki for hanging on and taking such great care of me today. You are amazing and I really hope you make Managment soon, because you have the paitents and leadership for it! A real go getter :) I would also like to acknowledge Ashley. Ashley and I know eachother, and this aknowlagement is not to bring conflict of interest to the business. Ashley has seen my concern and stress over the last few weeks on social media, knowing my dogs have been un well and that I'm going through a financial struggle with their bills. She had given me some helpful hints when I came in about the Pet Wellness Plans and how well Banfield treats the pets there. If She hadn't of suggested the Wellness plans, I would be in alot of debt right now. She helped me save so much money, almost half of my dogs medical exspences were covered by the Wellness plan, Banfield has to offer. Ashley has also met my dogs before, and she stopped me twice while I've taken 2/3 of my dogs in for surgury and reinsured me that everything will be okay, and she will check up on them when she had the chance on a break to make sure they were on the mend. I really just want to say thank you to her for being so supportive and caring. It really made me feel relaxed knowing someone who knew my dogs was going to be there to see them when they woke. Beyond comforting and made me worry so much less. Thank you so much for all of your suggestions Ashley, and for taking the time to go out of your way to check on my girls. I was near their store and I went in to buy some fish for my aquarium and some toys for my dog. Back by the fish is a sign that says to push this button and someone will come and help you, but to please be patient as they are short staffed! So I did. They had the fish I wanted and they were only $3.00. Two guys came out of a back room and one was an employee and the other one might have just been a friend. They stood there talking and when they were done, the employee looked at me and I said I wanted to buy some tetras. He said oh, we are not selling any fish or animals right now because we are short staffed! I almost exploded. How long would it have taken him to scoop out 6 fish for me and send me on my way, certainly not as long as he spent talking with his friend! Vanessa, she is a fabulous groomer! It's more than that though, she's excellent with dogs. I thought no one could get my dog to allow anyone to groom her--but Vanessa understands "dog psychology" and had my dog beautifully groomed by the time I came back. Vanessa does such a good job that I don't have to go in as often as she originally recommended. Her haircuts last about 5 months, or more. The other part is that my dog seems to really like going and I feel comfortable leaving her there, that means a lot. I recommend Vanessa in all seriousness is given consideration for a raise. I drive completely out of my way to have my dog see her, she's just really good! read more

Very rude serious Went in to get a replacement fish because my niece lost her fish this morning and they wouldn't sell me a 17cent goldfish. They told me I needed to have some huge tank for this goldfish that probably won't live past a week or month. Some girl stopped the guy who was helping me and told him I couldn't have the fish unless I had a 10 gallon tank. I have had all kinds of goldfish in the past and I kept them alive for years. I didn't need some girl with an attitude telling me I can't have a gold fish for the child that was with me picking out her fish. But yet they can keep 100 goldfish in a single tank for who knows how many days and I can't keep 1- 3 fish. I even tried to buy a fish tank that had pictures of minnows and another fish and was told I couldn't because they a gallon is too small and only fish I could get is a beta fish. But you can't keep beta fish together and wanted a couple goldfish to keep company. Just u profession and employee with the attitude needed to get herself checked. Maybe PETA needs to be called in on how many fish they keep in a tank. read more

I had an appointment two days ago for dog grooming. They called at the last minute and said they couldn't take him. Made an appointment for today. When I got there with my dog, they couldn't find the appointment on their schedule! While was waiting for them to straighten out this mistake, I watched a groomer working on a dog. She was pushing it around and threatening it with what she would do if it didn't stand still. When she was asked if she had time for my dog, I said, no, I do not want her working on my dog because of the way she was treating her current dog. Frustrated today. We take our chihuahua mix in for nail clipping, which is a walk-in service. NO appointment permitted. Hours on the grooming salon are posted 7am-7pm, yet the lights were off. I asked the checker if they were closed & she said that the groomers weren't coming in until 11:30. I came to Pet Smart today because my son wanted a dwarf hamster. I had already gone to Petco twice to find a good cage and a manageable hamster. To find someone at Petco that knows what the are talking about when it comes to the animals is like asking a two year old to solve an algebra problem... so I went to Pet Smart and OMG they had knowledgeable staff!!! The kind lady who helped me helped me get all the stuff I needed and she double checked the box to see if it had everything! She also made sure that the hamster had a mellow and friendly personality. I normally don't do things like this, but in this particular case I believe it was necessary. Stay away from this Petsmart! They are awful! I went to get my dog groomed there and I noticed that some of the ladies in the grooming department had a real attitude but I just kind of blew it off. Then I get my dog home and immediately after his grooming appointment noticed that he was shaking his head nonstop, didn't stop for three days!. NOTE: What another vet had determined was that (what had happened is he had got water in his ear from the grooming appointment and got an ear infection) "he was fine," NO ear problems before his appointment." So I called them & I had to take him back there to assess the situation. Long story short, after much time consuming calls, them being rude to me on the phone, One of the grooming ladies actually telling me that my "dog could have a hematoma..", instead of the simple ear infection that they caused... Me changing my work schedule to fit there's because the manager was only available from 8 o'clock in the morning until 12 o'clock noon and back-and-forth appointments, they had me go to "their vet" to determine on whether or not they were responsible for giving my dog a ear infection. I told them "I know you gave my dog a ear infection"...! And then quickly realized these people aren't about animals, they're all about the money. At the end of the day they just didn't want to compensate me, and worst of all... they didn't want to help my poor dog. I called my own vet and got Jersey (my doggie) seen & his meds for $30 as to which their vet wanted to charge me $200 for the ear infection. I'm never going back there... I used to go here to have my dog's nails trimmed because it was convenient but after my last trip to the grooming salon, I'm going to go elsewhere. I rushed in with my small dog wrapped in a towel and asked if they could get us in for an emergency shampoo and cut because he had walked in some gunk, (It was some varnish I was using in the garage on wood pieces). He had a long tail and pretty much swept the floor and his butt with it and it was all over his paws. I tried washing it and cutting what I could of his tail hair but he needed professional help fast before it dried on him. I was so glad they were close by because the sooner they cleaned him the sooner he wouldn't get the sticky stuff all over other things or before it hardened. They didn't ask questions they just said they were booked up until next week, even though there were two of them and only one dog that was already finished. The place was empty. As we left, one of them said something about hoping it wasn't pooped. I couldn't believe that anyone would think a dog rolling in dog poop was cause for an "emergency". Not very bright or sympathetic. They lost a regular customer for good. read more

For the sake of any future pet owners thinking about taking their furry babies to the grooming salon here. Don't bother, unless your pet just needs a bath. I took my Bichon Frise for a "trim" and was shocked when I picked him up almost bald and patches of hair everywhere. I didn't immediately notice because I had my daughters with me and the minute they brought him out they were all over him, but I noticed as soon as we got home. He still had small matting under his legs, which I specifically asked to be shaven off. I had asked for a trim, his coat was 5 inches long, it's now 1 inch to 1.5 inches depending on where you look. It's uneven everywhere even after I took him back for them to fix. The sanitary areas were not shaven. He had a bald spot on his chest. His ears were not plucked. His nails were not cut. I asked for the Top Dog package mind you, not cheap. So I basically paid a lot of money for a horrible half a** haircut. My vet thought I was grooming him myself. This was only the 2nd time bringing him here, the first time was just for a bath. He usually goes to the RP Petsmart but they were super booked out. So I hoped we could make this our new spot. No way. Pretty disappointing. read more

I've never been to PetSmart before. Today I took my dog with me and we went to look around. I ended up picking out a couple of things. The store was very clean and it was easy to find everything. The only downside was nobody asked me if I wanted assistance. When I paid for my items the lady that rang me up was very nice. I asked her questions about my pregnant dog and she seemed very knowledge! She helped me a lot more than a vet did. Definitely will be going back! read more
