It was a few days before Christmas as the store was packed with shoppers buying gifts for their animals and buying/adopting animals for Christmas. Most the reptiles and hamsters had little signs in their tanks that said "I went home for Christmas." There was one cat left in the adoption room and she looked so sad seeing another cat being adopted. I hope she got a home for Christmas because she was a beautiful calico. I went there to pick up cat food for my cat and ended up buying Christmas presents for my cat and my mom's cat. The lines were long but moved steadily. Came in with my son to pick out a snail for his fish tank and ended up waiting over 30 minutes without any assistance. One employee, who I've unfortunately had a similar experience with before, was helping another customer the entire time. I asked up front if someone else could help, and was told he was busy and someone would assist me when they could--but no one ever did. Meanwhile, the cashier at the register had no customers and didn't offer to help either. Another employee walked by and went to the back without saying a word. At one point, I thought we were finally going to be helped--the employee told the other customer she could check out, then walked right past us, grabbed something from the back, and continued on without even acknowledging us. I only stayed as long as I did because my son was really looking forward to getting that snail. But eventually I had to explain to him that not every business values its customers--and that it's okay to walk away. We've been loyal customers for years, even used the grooming services multiple times. But the lack of basic communication, effort, and respect for our time tonight made it clear it's time to support local businesses that actually care. The Pet Smart grooming now charges $15 for Express Service. Otherwise your dog needs to sit in a kennel for several hours after its appointment time. It appears they don't care about the dogs, just squeezing more money out of clients. read more

I called the grooming service today to get a price list & a really helpful young man named Devin* went above & beyond his duty to answer all my questions & also created a file on my dog in case I go in. (I hope I spelled his name correctly). I was almost persuaded to go in - even though the price(s) were higher than I've paid before - just because of his friendliness & helpfulness! I didn't go in today because I needed to find paperwork on my dog's shot record. read more

This is a nice store that is generally kept pretty clean. Selection is good for toys, food, treats, cleaning supplies, and they have an excellent grooming staff. It is pretty expensive to get your dogs washed up though. For us, it is worth the expense. read more

I've been bringing my dogs here for years to be groomed. EVERY TIME, they ask for their vaccination records and EVERY TIME they say it's been entered into their system. The last time, everything went well. Today I brought the dogs in for grooming and they said their records show that the vaccinations expired in January, despite the dogs being groomed there at least 4 times since that date! They refused to groom the dogs until they had current vaccination records, meaning that I would need to drive 15 minutes home and 15 minutes back to the store. When confronted by the fact that the dogs had been groomed several times, they accused me of "being mean" and "yelling at me". I informed them that I would get the records and would return in 30 minutes. They then told me that if I was 15 minutes late, the appointment, by policy, is canceled. Unprofessional, incompetent, rude...I will not be returning. Zero stars... When I called the store manager, he/she never returned my call...I guess unprofessionalism reaches the highest levels.​​ read more

The only reason I come to this store is because it's convenient for me to get the big dog food and not have to carry it due to just having a baby. I like doing pick up usually but I've never waited so long for pick orders to process and then when I just decide to go in they are never busy. Like what are the employees even doing for my order to take so long and nobody be in the store. The groomers are absolutely not good so I will never take my pug back. Workers attitude depends on the day you get really awful people and really nice people, and they almost never have certain products so I just order online and have stuff shipped. read more

I've been taking my dogs here for grooming off and on over the last decade. It was hit or miss with previous dogs, but Gladys seems to get 100% each time. Megan is amazing and I'd be hard pressed to go to a different groomer. read more

I recently bought three fish and a snail from here, the smallest fish died first. Then ick invaded my tank. Then the smallest black skirt tetra died today, literally 15 minutes ago. If I hadn't have bought fish here, my tank would still be perfectly fine. Never, ever buying anything from here ever again. I am writing this about our local Petsmart ,but it is also about their sister company Chewy.com. The store is always clean and the shelves are well stocked and organized by brand...easy- peasy shopping. Associates are helpful and knowledgeable. A bit pricey, but worth it for the selection and service. On to Chewy. com. If there were more than 5 stars, they would be theirs on many levels. Delivery is always 1 to 2 days "as seen on TV". Prices are great and phone service is always cheerful and helpful. I have been a customer for several months and have always been happy. Sadly, I had to say good-bye to my 15 year old cat pal this last weekend. I called the company to cancel my auto-ship orders and fasten your seat belt...they sent me 2 dozen roses. Not a lovely daisy bouquet.... 2 dozen beautiful roses. I am still in awe. Thank you so much. read more

I understand you guys are low on stock with your small animals. I get that you probably have had numerous dumb phone calls. I empathize with times being a bit stressful with the holiday and all that. But it doesn't give you the right to be a royal Bitch on the phone and then hang up on people. Especially when there was no reason for it in the first place! No one got disrespectful with you, no voices were raised and I know for a fact no threats were made. A simple question was asked about the stock of your small animals and the response was a half assed "no" and then dial tone. Maybe you should remember that without customers your job would not exist! Maybe tone down the entitlement syndrome a bit. Maybe take an empathy class or two! You guys really need to do better. It's not our fault you are having a bad day. While the prices are much higher on just about everything than if you were to buy online, I appreciate that Petsmart has widened its selection on the more "natural" pet foods. It is a shame that when Petsmart acquired Chewy.com that Petsmart could not figure out how to keep Acana as a vendor. It appears that Acana has now started to work with Petco likely to pickup some of the volume lost with Chewy. At any rate, I enjoy bringing my dog in to pick out treats. read more

Called ahead yesterday and they said they were swamped and unable to help to get my two large dogs in for a walk in apt.-NO PROBLEM- I called again today and they said yes bring them in...so I bring the dogs in and it was obvious they were in over their heads- long line- no kennel spaces- they wanted me to hold on to one dog while the worked on the other and then switch--if you can't handle more dogs then say no we don't have time today or allow people to make quick apts. Stressful for me and everyone else who was waiting and all the dogs and then to boot one of the employees told me that I need to be careful with my dogs- who are in fact well behaved beautiful dogs and not the one/s growling. read more

DO NOT TRUST THE GROOMERS WITH YOU FOUR LEGGED FAMILY MEMBER! These people injured my dog. Not to say that everyone in the groomers section is bad, however, one of them hurt my family member. The day after, with some pushing, the store manager agreed to treat my dog in their hospital free of cost. To her acknowledgment, after some swaying, she did the right thing. I believe part of the problem is volume. Why do you schedule a specific time to groom our dog and then call 3 hours later for pick up? Does that not defeat the purpose of a scheduled appointment? So, if it takes 30 minutes to wash and clip nails on our small dog, then the rest of the time he is in a cage. Non the less, the issue is that Pet Smart on Newport Highway is a joke. It took my dog 2 weeks to recover. He layed dormant and in pain for many days. Whoever hurt him should have acknowledged it and we could have cared for him immediately. Whether he fell off a table or was stepped on, accidents happen. The lack of honesty is tragic. Shame on you. Advice: If you care about your family member, bring them to a place that cares less about the bottom dollar and more about our four legged family members. Good luck dog lovers. :) read more

Went to get a fish here and the customer service was terrible at first. We wandered around for about half an hour trying to get someone to assist us. After we finally found someone to assist us, she was actually pretty helpful and answered all of the questions we had. I would have given this one star if we weren't able to get our fish. I am sending this review to all who care for their pets. This is hard to write but I want you to know what happened to my best friend and beautiful border collie. She was taken to be groomed and returned with hair ripped out leaving bleeding skin, nipples shaved off, and a frightened dog. When I called corporate they said they would have to look into it and would I consider trying again? They promised they would inform me when their investigation was finished. It has been 2 months and I have not heard a thing. I called to let them know what was taking place at one of their stores. I see it as animal cruelty and they didn't seem to see that. Regardless, I cannot ever use that store again. My dog would know and I would be betraying her. Please think twice before bringing your dog there. read more
