I have had a very difficult time finding a groomer for my senior Cairn Terrier. I was at the PetsMart at Guadeloupe and McClintock to buy food and saw they had grooming. The young ladies were so personabl, the dogs they were grooming looked just as they should for their breeds, and the salon smelled pleasant, not the ammonia & disingenuous odor. I am so pleased with their service. My Cairn has such anxiet, but was fine. My foster Cairn who gets very nervous did very well, too. Very happy. read more

To the miss frizzle looking chick working the fish departmen: you probably should get a new job. we waited patiently while you helped this family of 5 get several fish for 20+ minutes only for you to immediately help someone else that just walked in the door(they saw us waiting too. Amber in grooming is awesome. Shes so sweet & caring with my little 5 month old Chihuahua. I usually take her every 2 weeks or so because her nails grow fast. The one star is not for the actual grooming, as the groomer complimented my dog for being sweet and my girl looked great. However, when I tried to make another appointment online, I received a message asking me to call the 800 number to speak with an associate about scheduling an appointment. I called the number, and the representative said she could not find a reason for this new requirement and advised me to contact the local store since she could not change the rule. I called the store, and they were unsure why I couldn't book online. They stated they could not remove the flag. Due to my work hours, booking online is more convenient so I will take my business elsewhere. read more

The instacart worker in the white 4 door beat to shit car before entering the store almost hit my partner and I as we were in the parking lot. I mentioned they should look over both shoulders before backing out not intending to be rude and they told me I'm should be lucky she don't hit me with her car. I use they because I don't know if it's actually a woman or just a short 5'5 African man. So if you're coming to this location and you see that vehicle be mindful because OBVIOUSLY they aren't. I am so glad Rosaria was there today. I hope I spelled that correct. My eyesight for her name tag was poor but she was very attentive to the Rain rescue adoption cat and kitten area. We voiced a concern and she was on it straight away. She handled the concern and went above and beyond. After the mess was cleaned she played with the kitty and gave it much needed attention and called the rescue organization. We need more people like her at these places and in the world. I was not sure if she was a manager or not but she definitely is manager material with how well her customer service and overall department skills are. She is professional, kind and caring. this review specifically pertains to the salon at this location. my dog Flora has severe anxiety when outside the home, and the staff here does a great job taking care of her. First off, some of what happened was my fault, but that is no excuse for the terrible and judgmental service I received here. I was late to my appointment, I overslept, so I called this specific location's number (which I got directly from the website, and this specific location's page). Someone answered it but the reception was bad so all I heard was, "Hi this ___ with ___ Smart grooming salon, can I place you on a brief hold?" I said sure, and then I waited on hold for 20 minutes! So I drove to the location because at that point I felt it would be quicker. I got to the salon, and told the front desk about the situation and showed them I was still on hold. They insisted that it was strange because there was no one on hold. Whatever so, they couldn't fit me in anymore, because I was on hold for a total of 35 minutes. But the two women at the desk were so rude about it. Daniella said they couldn't take me, then Venice proceeded to say, "I guess I can take him it's fine" with a sigh. After that, my dog pooped on the floor and Daniella exclaimed "Oh my god! Was that your dog??" and Venice responded with a scoff saying "Ugh, I mean it has to be." Like honey, you work at a PetSmart with "Oops!" stations all over the place, you're telling me you've never seen dog poop before? Then Daniella said "Okay well I need to go check in this other person who was here before you so..." She walked away and I asked for some dog bags so I could clean up. As I was cleaning up, Venice came over with a leash and I told her never mind and I would just go somewhere else. She got all nervous, and asked, "Are you sure? I can take him." I said no and then asked for her name, then she got even more nervous and offered to finish cleaning up the dog poop. I am never coming here again because I don't like me or my dog being judged for something perfectly natural. I went to the Petco at Mesa Riverview which was about a five minute drive away, and received MUCH better service over there. Do not come here unless you like being judged by strangers. read more

It was our first time having our pets groomed at this pet smart. We moved into Tempe and we're too far away from their regular groomers. There are some local shops I see online but personally I like to know how much to expect as a payment before showing up with 3 pets. I made an appointment online for the dogs with Staci and Betsie and they did a great job with our pups. Betsie gave a haircut to our Corgi/Pomeranian and she looks adorable! And Staci helped our shy chihuahua and she was able to gain her trust. Both of them came home smelling well. The only thing I didn't know is that in order to get your cat groomed you have to call in to the location or make an appointment in person. The online platform doesn't work for cats because they only groom on certain days and schedules. None the less, Danielle left our little cat looking spiffy and was able to navigate around a wound he had without hurting him. He has been parading around the house now very soft, clean, and happy. I took my puppy to get groomed for the first time and Gena did an awesome job with him. He was really anxious beforehand and she helped calm him and he looked so handsome afterwards. My only complaint is that the hair around his eyes is a little uneven but he moves whenever someone comes near his face so I can imagine he was probably very squirmy. But now he looks so handsome and smells amazing! I also bought a few things while I was there and all the associates were very friendly and helpful. The whole point of a Yelp review whether it be 1 star or 5 stars, it is all a prerogative. Isn't there a saying "pics or it didn't happen". Well in my own gut feeling I felt what the pet groomers were doing to my dog at the time of events (2 years ago mind you) was not correct at all. From getting rude messages from her friends over the course of time (that is a form of bullying you know) , I have now been reached out to the girl in the photos giving my dog a choke hold. She wants me to take down the picture as she did not consent to it. You can't see her face, I did not mention her name (I honestly didn't know what it was until today), and I was taking a picture of my dog, that again, was being mishandled. Anyone reading the Yelp reviews for this petsmart can see how they handle their dogs. You can see why my rating is a 1 star. If you didn't hold my dog incorrectly which you said that's how training taught you but you don't do that anymore then even you know it was wrong. It is a reflective of corporate. read more

I do NOT recommend letting them anywhere near your dogs nails during grooming. The haircut and grooming services were fine, but the treatment of my dogs nails was unacceptable. Our dogs nails were obviously cut poorly, seeing as they're all chipped, cracked, and too short, with one visibly bleeding. Mistakes happen and It would have been understandable if they were transparent about it but the staff made absolutely no mention or seemingly do anything to stop the bleeding or ease the pain. Completely unacceptable for so called "professional" grooming services. read more

This place cohabitates leopard geckos which is strongly frowned upon in the PROPER reptile husbandry community. You should NEVER under any circumstances house Leo's together and i saw three in a tiny 20 gal display which is incredibly sad and barely enough room for one Leo. One was cramped in the corner trying to sleep but didn't even have an adequate hide to sleep in because the other two were used up! This is extremely dangerous and i hope people do their research on Leo stress levels and do not ignore this inadequate care just because they're reptiles! read more

Not a fan of this location. Employees seem go through the motions sloppily and half-hearted. I've been to other PetSmart locations, that I'm sure get far less customer traffic than this prime Tempe spot, and those workers put far more effort into doing their jobs. We needed a quick, easy, disposable kitty litter box (amongst other things) during this particular visit. There was only a broken one on the shelf so I found and asked a sales associate if they had any others in the back and without looking they immediately said no. You could at least pretend to look, call another store or something. I appreciate that sort of effort. Instead they offered a tiny discount on a completely broken product that probably should have been damaged out and not on the floor for sale. Ugh, I should have just given the item back but the employees (sales associate, cashier and manager, who had to give approval) acted so put out by the simple situation that I felt obligated into purchasing the damaged item. I am usually greeted and welcomed at Banfield. This morning the receptionist was more robotic like I was just another one on the list. No empathy or understanding. I drove in going to get an antibiotic or a quick 30 minute appointment to see for an ear infection. She was not inquiring anything about my concerns and didn't even look at my dogs profile to get an understanding. I understand it's not a pleasant job listening to people with stressful situations and schedules. But show some interest and empathy for the human and animal front of you instead of talking to me like I am just a number. And what is the point of online app schedule if it doesn't show availability? It said two months out so I drive in and you do nothing for me but tell me to drop off in a week and offer no solutions for my dog's discomfort. read more

We recently came into to get some starter tanks and fish for my kids. Steve asked if he could help us, and I am so thankful he did. He was absolutely amazing. He was so incredibly patient and kind with my kids. He was able to educate me on how to care for our new little fish pets. I'm not the kind of person to be reviewing chains, but I frequent this PetSmart for my two cats and the staff here is great. Friendly staff are very knowledgeable about what they offer at this location. I have two cats (Echo and Lulu) and they are very different in size because of their breeds. Staff helped me pick out products specifically to their breeds and have seen great results. Other than that it's exactly what you'd expect from a large chain pet store. read more

I go here pretty regularly to get supplies and food and toys for my cats. It's never been a problem everything always goes smoothly they always have a nice selection of food and everything else for the cats. It's relatively clean there's not a lot of drama and I can get in and get out fairly quickly although I have to say there are several times when there are lines of people waiting to get checked out and there's not enough people staffing the registers . But over all Petsmart is a fairly reliable place and they have a nice selection of pet stuff. read more

Hands down love the grooming services here. Shay took care of my two German shepherds despite all their anxiety. He made me feel at ease with the report card at the end. Plus the pups looked amazing. Grooming. One name - BETSIE B - remember it and don't book her services. I have been taking my 3 year old husky to this grooming facility for 2 years, at least once a month. Normally, I go off of availability versus personal preference.. big mistake. Upon entering, I was stuck waiting for her to finish folding bandanas before she could come service me (so yes, I watched her fold bandanas awkwardly for 5 min). Once she came over to help, she proceeded to tell me that "there were no notes in my pets file" which made her nervous. I'm sorry, I wasn't aware it was my job to ensure your coworkers do there's. I apologized on behalf of her coworkers. She then informs me she needs to perform an assessment before she "feels comfortable", which was fine. Once she came around to finally even pet my dog, she said she was "nervous" again about her energy. SHES A HUSKY. When she kneeled down to her level, my dog started licking her and trying to play which made her "nervous" again. So she said no teeth brushing. Fine. She starts to pet my dog and again, trying to play, my dog starts doing little spins. Betsie at this point stood up and backed away and said my dog was too aggressive and made her uncomfortable. Then proceeded to ask me when I would like to reschedule with her....YOURE JOKING. If you are nervous or uncomfortable around certain breeds.... INDICATE THAT TO MANAGEMENT instead of profiling my dog. I also cannot control what is in your computer and what is not, that is on you. Lastly, from the moment I walked into the grooming facility, you clearly did not want to be doing your job. I'm assuming you turn a lot of your customer away due to being "nervous" ... good cop out. I will never be returning to this store and in fact have found a mom-and-pop grooming shop that absolutely adore my floof and all her happy energy. Betsie. Dog grooming is not the profession for you. Your store just lost my biweekly services thanks to your lack of decency. read more

I walked in for my puppies appointment for a puppy trim because this will only be his 3rd appointment and the groomer asked me who told me he was 3 months. And didn't believe me that my dog was only 3 months and had an attitude. I got him when he was only 6 weeks so I'm sure I can do the math that he is 3 months. Love PetSmart. They have the best supplies for my classroom Guinea pet and my spoiled Siamese Cat. Pet Smarts competitor is closer to me but I drive further just to go here. I love animals so I really respect that they donate to pet charities. My cat loves their toys too. I have alway had great customer service and the staff is so friendly. One tool I use a lot is their order and pay online. Then you can go to the store and pick it up. So convenient.
