Today I came in her to buy fish, I had a pleasure of meeting Genevieve! She was an amazing !! She was so sweet, warm, super down to earth, friendly, kind and caring. As I was asking her questions I really noticed that she was highly knowledgeable & skilled about all the fishes and contents that need to be in a fish tank and the levels of PH. I was super impressed how she spoke about all this information! She is your Rarest Diamond! Please treasure her greatly!! The biggest attraction is their adoption center. I love to visit the kitty room. They have great selection especially raw food. And they are good about returns or trying to find hard to get items. The manager is the most helpful. read more

The grooming department is absolutely horrible here. We normally get our dogs groomed at the Camarillo location but they were booked out several weeks. This location had plenty of availability so we took a chance. Might as well be a different company. I guess there's a reason it's easy to get in here and difficult at the other location. I took my 18 lb. dog in for a bath and full groom, no extras. When Kelce C. was checking my dog in she told me, "I'm going to use a conditioner on her." I did not know that was an extra charge, she never mentioned that. When she asked me to sign the hard copy of the same exact form that I had already signed online; she had her hand over the corner that had the price on it when showing me where she needed me to initial and sign. She never told me that there was an additional fee of $10.00 for conditioner for an 18 lb. dog, nor did I see the tiny print in the top corner of the completely fine print 8.5x11 page that they make you sign before leaving. I feel this was completely unethical behavior on Kelce's part. When I tried to explain this to the manager, all she cared about was that I signed the form. I feel that a change needs to be made at this salon. The they need to be transparent about their upcharges before the groom. Having them in minuscule print amongst an entire full page of minuscule print is entirely unacceptable. As I told the manager, my complaint to her was not about the $10.00. I always tip my groomers 20% on the groom. Kelce lost a $13.00 tip over this; so, it's not about the $10.00 for me. I made up for the expense. The manager was not about to take the $10.00 off the bill. She stood her ground; I signed the agreement. The manager cares more about the corporation than her groomers. She proved that when I told her that's fine, I'm not loosing money on this. I'm just not tipping....Kelce paid for the conditioner. I'm not using them again and I wouldn't recommend this business. I've used other, private groomers that are all inclusive, no upcharges. Their base price is higher; but, they include all services. I'm going back there. read more

My dog Carly, a less than 10 pound Maltipoo, was seen yesterday for grooming. I think the groomers name was Cas/Kas (?). The appointment was deleted from my Pet Smart App history. They nicked her tongue during grooming, it bled, and so she needed to be taken to the vet. I was called to be told the address of the vet where I could go pick her up. The gentleman on the phone was nice, but acted like this was a business deal, was professional but showed no sympathetic feelings when talking about what happened to her. When I get to the vet, the groomer was there and the vet had just come out to discuss Carly. He asked her to describe what happened and she gave the facts. Again professional, but with no feeling of care about Carly. She said the vet bill is covered, which they didn't charge anyway, and of course the grooming was covered, but she wasn't done so the manager would finish her tomorrow. Very matter of fact and I felt like she was upset with me!That was it. We walked out of the vets office together and she went straight to her car without saying a word! No saying sorry to me or to Carly, no mention that she hopes she continues to do well, just silence. Never a sorry or sympathy at all. I wasn't mad at all that this happened. Things happen and I was just glad my Carly was ok! The next morning I call the manager (no one called first to check on Carly). She never once asked how she was doing or offered any caring words. We set up a time for her to finish, but I decided I'm not taking her back to a very uncaring atmosphere. I won't be back. PetSmart in Newbury Park is super nice. I was greeted by a friendly cashier "Brady". Store was immaculate with great lighting. Well stocked and colorful. There were no lines and the workers were busy stocking or cleaning the store. I bought a cute little vest for my puppy. It was really expensive $26 which was the only disappointing thing about my PetCo experience. I have literally spent thousands of dollars in this store. This is where my dogs get groomed, where I buy my aquarium supplies and where I buy my pet food. No more. The manager I presume was not at all interested in helping me with my purchase and locating my aquarium supplies but rather very rude and insisted I leave the store for not wanting to wear a mask. Horrible groomers! Took my dog in for a haircut with "Journey" and she chopped off her dew claw. She ended up taking her to the vet next door because she was bleeding a lot, and my poor dog was sedated to remove what was let of her toe. Dog had to wear a cone for two weeks, and my poor dog was not herself for days. Worst part was I never even received an apology! Only a don't worry pet smart is covering the bill. Had I received a sincere apology it would have helped. I will say this review does NOT apply to the vets at Banfield they were great! read more

We used to like coming into PetSmart to get our Corgi groomed, until we came in today. Today, our groomer Kendra completely butchered our corgis coat. She had asked if his usual cut was fine, I said yet but noted that we were moving to Washington where it's significantly colder and maybe we should go longer. She brought out the length examples but noted it should probably be fine as is. I said sure. 2 hours later I get a call asking how often we get his hair cut, I said every 2 months or so. She noted that it was "very uneven" so if it looks weird, it's because she's trying to even it up. We pick him up....and she had completely shaved his entire top coat. All of it. Likely she's new or maybe never dealt with a corgi or 2 coat dogs....but this was awful. The response from the manager? To offer a discount on the next service (never happening again) or a sweater. Even for what they were attempting to do, the cut was completely uneven and just bad. It's just bad. My recommendation is to just take your pet to a real groomer who knows what they're doing. During these trying times, the last thing you think of a PetSmart employee messing up a curbside order pick up! I'd blame myself if I could leave my house. COVID-19 is no joke. So I rely on the volunteers and employees to get my order. But with that said, they packed the bag with the worg cat treats, my cat is highly allergic to salmon. And a case of the wrong food! About a $45.00 screw up! And no returns or exchanges at this time. This makes me so angry! Meanwhile I'm out $45.00 and can't afford their mistake! You blew it Petsmart! I'm going back to Chuyes at least they stand behind their orders and would tell you to donate the food to a local shelter and Petco does the same thing and replaces your order. Candice is amazing! She helped us last minute on Monday night before the store was closing to find a "play pen" for our dog who had been attacked by another dog earlier that evening. She, and one of her associates, were so kind and really helped us when we were so frantic and allowed us to focus on selecting the best pen for our dog. Really wonderful people! Will never bring our dog back. We went in to have nails trimmed. They ended up grinding her nails because she has black nails. Which makes no sense. Any professional groomer should be able to cut black nails. 1. We never asked for that to be done. 2. Our dog was freaking out about it. We had been shopping like they said to do. When we went back there to pick her up we could hear her freaking out. When I asked them to cut them not grind them that's when they told us they grind black nails. If we had been told that up front we never would have done it. And especially with how she reacted to it. I feel that they traumatized my puppy. She was shaking and upset after. I doubt she will ever want to set foot in Petsmart ever again. I will NEVER bring my dog back here for grooming and will tell everyone I know to never bring their dog here. Horrible place and horrible experience. All they did was traumatize my dog and make her afraid to have her feet handled. read more

For so long I avoided anyone but me washing and grooming my husky...but then I had a kid. I brought him here for a furminator wash and brush plus nails. Sara was his groomer and she is awesome!! She made sure my 12 year old baby felt comfortable and discussed all options. At the end of the day, her service felt personal. She made sure I knew about any bumps or whatever she found. Notably, he was DRY when I picked him up. This has been deemed impossible by many groomers...if he is damp he gets a rash. Not today. Any mats? Addressed. Any issues like paw fur? Addressed. They treat him very well and don't want to give him back to me lol!!! Banfield, the vet, resides inside the store and my dogs vet dr. An is very nice and helpful and sees both my dogs. And that I had to go back in and correct it, then my brother took my other dog in and they called him saying they were going to take him to the vet because he "fell off the table and hurt his leg and when my brother got there the girl said she dropped him! Update on my previous review. I was contacted by PetSmart corp and they notified me that they would open a complaint review regarding my store experience. They said they would get back to me in a couple of days once they had an opportunity to check with the store and the district manager. They sent me multiple emails about how they were going to find out and make it right. (SEE BELOW) They didn't. They did not reach out to me. They didn't even get back to me to bother lying to me or to defend what they did do - charge me for services not rendered. Turns out that when I examined my dog, they did not do any work on him as paid for. No trim, no furminator, nothing. As far as I could tell they did one of his legs when they stopped. I brushed him over the past weekend and it was obvious they did NOTHING, and charged me premium pricing for the honor. If they reach out to you, please be aware that in my case they did so as lip service only. It's been 5 emails telling me they would contact me with 24 -48 hours and tell me something. Live animals all appeared healthy and clean. I like that they have clearance/sale items sprinkled throughout the store, with the other products, encouraging you to check each section you might want to buy from. Raylynn was so patient and sweet with her which was amazing because my dog is typically very nervous when getting groomed. I have never written a bad review, but I'm frustrated. I go in to buy a ball python, having already owned a couple, and see this adorable hatchling. The guy they sent over INSISTED it was at least a year old and I needed at least a 30 gallon (huge for a hatchling) tank for it. Other snake owners should already see this problem. For reference, I weighed him at home and he was less than 60 grams...meaning he was barely a month old. Going back to in-store, the employee told me he wouldn't be able to tell me the age of the ball python b/c it was too young to sex...um if it was "a year old" you definitely would be able to. Also, I'm aware of COVID screwing things up but I wasn't able to take a look at the snake before buying it or else I would've seen upon closer inspection all the MITES covering his body. I would suggest sending someone over to sell a reptile that actually knows what they are talking about and to make sure pets don't have PARASITES before selling them to possible first time owners that rely on TRUE advice/info. Staff here are generally friendly and helpful. Sometimes the line gets quite long, so you might need to wait a bit. Took my 10 year old dog Teddy (pom/american eskimo mix) for grooming couple times. I booked with Emily and Journey. Both groomers did a good job. We usually go with bath, grooming, and Top Dog Plus. It's a little cheaper if you go on weekdays instead of weekends. Their online booking system is easy to use - you can see all the available groomers and time. It also stores all your dog's service records. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews but I feel like this is necessary. I have brought my 12 year old shih tzu to pet smart grooming a few times before this and everything was fine but this last time I got him back and he was squinting and wouldn't open his eyes. I realized ... THEY CUT THROUGH HIS EYE BALL. He had a large slice straight across his left eye ball. My brother in law is luckily an optometrist and was able to check him out. Sadly there is nothing medically they can do for his eye except hope it will heal in time. Pet smart did refund my money and offered vet service through their in house vet but I really feel like their groomers should be trained to not slice open a dogs eye ball when they are grooming. read more
