There's something to be said about pet stores that genuinely remember their customers and recommend products that work. I've been shopping here for my Frenchie for three years now and I truly like this establishment. Someone always greets me when I walk through the door and asks me if I need assistance. They have pretty decent discounts after buying a certain number of pet foods. The owner is down to earth and genuine to the customers! Supporting this pet store feels right as opposed to PetsMart and the other chains. They even exchange food items that did not workout for your pet! Give this place a try! I absolutely love the store because they offer individualized attention and recommendations for pets that have intense allergies like my golden doodle. We had him on a strict turkey diet but he was still vomiting and so they recommended a salmon recipe and he has had no diarrhea and vomiting since he tried this and so their recommendations were much better than the veterinarian!! read more

This review is for Ron. He was great. I went in because I found a flea on my cat & was kinda freaking out, wanting to see if there were any products I'd feel comfortable using. I actually went in two times that day. The first time he spent quite a bit of time w/ me & I ended up buying just a double bladed flea comb that he recommended. The 2nd time was after I used the comb & found more fleas. Ugh. Both times he was friendly & amazing at listening to my concerns about strong chemicals if avoidable, or essential oils that are advertised to naturally treat fleas but are actually harmful to cats. He spent time standing there w/ me looking through all the ingredients of many different products (they have a great selection). Also, he used to be a groomer so he had some knowledge based on that. I had heard that they will trim your pets nails from a friend and they made it so easy. From calling to make sure the person that does it was there, to walking in and 5 minutes later walking out, all for a very fair price. Our Dog was not scared at all either and usually hates having it done at the vet. First off, I can't tell you how grateful I am for this store. The passion and knowledge that they carry in each individual at this specific store location is a breath of fresh air. From Andy and the rest of his staff, they are amazing. Each one carries their own set of knowledge and experiences with reptiles, Aquatic Life, animals, and on and on. It doesn't matter what day I come in there, I feel confident I'll leave there with the answers I'm seeking. I have animals, reptiles, Aquatic Life and more. They always have an answer for me and always willing to help out.. I recently had an accident where it made it hard for me to come in. They offered to deliver it to me, they always held the door open for me, they always grabbed what I needed, and they always made my 6 year old son feel special. They are the true definition of customer service and caring for their community and animals. I will never step foot in PetSmart, Petco, ornwhatever it may be pet store. Their prices are cheaper than the big brand locations and that place by Home goods. 10% discount on cases brings price down even more. Since we regularly pass this store on the weekends to shop at Trader Joe's, today I needed to replenish this ravenous puppy's appetite. The clerk was super nice and offered some free samples to try out while my original order was being shipped. I've been shopping here for a couple years now and have been happy however, some recommendations on products they've sold to me in the past haven't always worked out and most of them in my opinion are very over priced. Today when the cashier/owner tried to sell me a $60 bottle of CBD oil for pets, I told him I'm an Amazon person and would like to do some research before I spend $60 and to make sure it works. He pretty much went off on me and his tone was very rude and unprofessional. If I didn't have my young daughter with me I probably would have said something. I will not be returning back here. If this store reads their customer reviews, I would recommend you come down on your pricing if you don't want customers to shop on Amazon. For example, pet CBD oil on Amazon with 5 star reviews starts at $18.99 vs. your $59.99 bottles and very poor customer service. read more

Horrible customer service!!! Purchased a cone for my dogs head and it didn't fit. Returned to the store within 15 minutes of the purchase with the receipt and the item and tried to return it but because I took the sticker off the manager refused to return my purchase even though I had the receipt and was in the store literally 15 minutes before. I ended up finding the sticker in my car, took it in and the manager rudely said "I shouldn't even return this because the sticker has a small tear in it". Very very rude manager, asked to speak to the owner, the owner called me and was even more rude than the manager. I like to support small businesses but I will never shop at healthy pet again. They do seem to have a good selection of products, but for me, that doesn't matter. The problem is that they don't take care of their live animals. The rats are in a cage that looks like salvage from the ruins around Chernobyl (filth, most of the paint is gone, rusted) and don't appear to have a chew stick(!), nor do they have anywhere to hide/sleep. Their (tiny--sized for hamsters) cage clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. Their other animals are in similar levels of dirt, although their cages at least are newer. The bettas are in the tiniest little cups I've ever seen (smaller than Petsmart!), and look like the water's never been changed. The only one that looked even okay was the sand boa, and they only poop like once a week, so of course that one looks okay. No matter how good their selection is, I couldn't bring myself to spend money there any of the times I went in--I saw how much they care about "Healthy Pet[s]", said something, and left. I just hope they fix it soon. read more

I currently live in Camarillo and go out of my way to shop at Healthy Pet! they Always have the food I purchase, Taste of the Wild, and at a better price than Bark 'Em in Camarillo. The two employees I've ever seen are always very friendly and they know their products. After working at a pet store chain, it's so nice to shop at a local store where there's no pressure to buy buy buy, rewards cards, or worry about products out of stock. Not sure how to rate this store. I was looking for some raw food for my cats that I could just try to see if they would eat it. It comes frozen, and I knew from my Sis that it was available in small bags. But when I asked about that, they said it was only available in the $17 bag size. I just left there and had a horrible customer service experience. Sadly, the young man with dark hair in the blue shirt was very rude... I had just purchased a dog bed and used my debit card for over $20. Before even leaving the register I saw some dog treats that I wanted to purchase which were $.69 each, I mentioned I didn't have cash so I needed to use the card again to purchase the treats... I was told that I would have to buy at more than $5 worth or I couldn't use the card!! WTF?!!! Seriously?!! I reminded the kid that I had just used it to purchase over $20 bed!!! He said it didnt matter and each time the card was used it had to be at least $5 to be "worth" it for them for the sale... I said, I just spent 4x worth of $5 haha.. He REFUSED to make an exception! Pretty ridiculous and PETTY if you ask me.! I WONT BE RETURNING THERE FOR MY PET NEEDS IF THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT CUSTOMERS.... Very sad to lose customers over something like that... So bummed about this place. I have been going to Healthy Pet and the NP store for 5-6 years very faithfully, enough that the owner recognized me when I would go in for food every couple of months. I love to support the small businesses in town, but I'm afraid I've just started using Amazon and the local chain pet stores now because of lousy customer service and petty-ness about store policies. My latest customer service mishap had to do with the coupons Healthy Pet has out in the mailers and things. I forgot my coupon and the cashier (who also knew I was a regular and recognized me as such) would not give me the discount no matter what. I already was paying $4-6 more per bag of food just to help out this small business, so getting the few dollars off would have been appreciated, but NO. No exceptions. No coupon. So, I'm now paying $4-6 less, and even better with online coupons at the major chain stores and Amazon. read more
