After a month of living in this community it was time for the pup to get her first grooming appointment. I had great luck with the local Petsmart in my previous home so I tried here. The reviews are scary but odor big box stores I was willing to try. Going in this is a large parking lot and it can get kind of hairy driving through it. But entering the store it's busy, it's noisy and there was lots of people and energy. I asked a sales associate who navigated me to the back where the groomer is and there was a line backed of many people who all had the same ideas I did. Grooming on what I thought would be an off day and off hour, was I wrong!Thankfully one by one they called the names of folks with appointments and took the pups in. Aaliyah took care of Abbie asked what length I liked, updated her records took in my hair covered baked potato. If I could give ZERO stars for my experience here I would. I got my dog groomed by Angelica. I received my bill upon pick up & there was a dematting fee charged. I made sure my dog was combed out to avoid any additional charges. Upon drop off he was checked prior to her taking him back & there was NO MENTION of him being matted or any additional fee being charged. Other dogs were getting dropped off as well & they were told at that same time that their dogs were matted & there would be an additional fee. Upon pick up I see the fee & of course I dispute it because it's a bogus extra charge & it was not even the cost, it was the principle. I'm not paying extra when I took steps to avoid this charge. I ended up speaking to the manager Kristi who was very rude. She took me back to the grooming section where she asked Angelica about the charge & Angelica immediately had an unprofessional & disgusting remark & said I could " find somebody else to groom the dog" next time. Keep in mind I had not been rude to her, she just immediately spewed that negative remark & she was not reprimanded at all by Kristi, instead she tag teamed with Angelica & gave me the worst customer service I've ever experienced at a grooming salon. I also took my Pomeranian there for a Teddy Bear cut and bath and her fur was butchered. She was never given a bath and she was shaved down into her undercoat but the hair on her head was never touched. They never gave her a sanitary shave and left a tuff of hair there and when I complained to the manager her never apologized and seemed to want to out talk me and then said " We can't put the hair back".... Please don't take your pets there unless you just want them shaved down if you want them cut according to their breed that is not the place they have absolutely no idea about cuts which is simple to learn just Google and learn your craft!!!! read more

Since COVID, the location has had curbside pickup which is even more convenient. You don't even have to leave your car. Staff is scantily available on the floor but given that 99.9% of the time I know what I need and where to find it- it's a none issue for me. When needed they are pretty knowledgeable. read more

I placed an online order to pick up in store for my two dogs and upon arrival the problems began immediately. I approached the dude in the blue shirt and stated I was here to pick up my online order he ignored me so I asked the dude at the register who could have helped me after he finished ringing up the customer he was with but chose not to so I proceeded to ask the woman at the register that can be seen in red to grab my order however she refused to help me as well. At this point 10 minutes had passed since I enter the store waiting to get my bag of dog food that he be seen circled in the picture next to the mop bucket. The dude in the blue shirt was already annoyed and extremely miserable because he was dealing with a grooming customer issue and stated to me "1 second" when he did decide to acknowledge me which was in very nasty tone. About two minutes goes by and he proceeds to go over to the register where the cashier with the red shirt is and I stated, "I thought you said 1 second" he replied, "You do not need to be shopping in this store" I replied to him "I did not shop in this store I placed an online order for pickup in store." After I made that last comment, he then proceeds to go and get my online order. You can even see from his face that he has an attitude, and he is not wearing his name tag. If this employee worked at my store, he would have been written up for not wearing his name tag which is part of a PetSmart employees' uniform, and he would have been fired for his conduct. read more

She had her 2pm appointment rescheduled by the staff for 1pm via text and soon after that she received a confirmation call for the original appointment time. I came here to get my 3 month puppy groomed. I booked an appointment with Angelica for 11:30am. The check in went smoothly and I was told she would be done in 2-3 hours. My puppy is only 5lbs. They do what you call a puppy bath and trim. They are supposed to trim the face, paws and buttocks area. I came back around 1:45 to see if Chewy was done. The guy gave me a receipt and asked Angelica if Chewy was done. She gave him a look of annoyance and said 2:30. I just shook my head. I went to the front and paid for the service and waited around until she called. She called at 2:26pm and said Chewy was done. I walked to the back to pick her up. Angelica didn't even come out. She gave Chewy to another girl. Even with all of that, I gave her a tip. When I took a look at Chewy. The trim was horrible. The trimming was totally uneven. I'm gonna have to get this fixed by another groomer. I guess I should've stuck with Joanie B. She was good the last time I went. Update: I came into the store on 3/17/19 after speaking with a manager who stated they will correct the issue by fixing my puppy's trim. I had an appointment with Joanie B. Joanie took a look at my puppy and stated she didn't see any issue with the cut my puppy received. I tried to show the her picture because it is now over a week later. She said the puppy was there she didn't need to see the pics. After more of the back and forth she eventually looked at the pictures but still disagreed the cut was done wrong. She offered to clean up the trim some. She was done 5 minutes later. Not much of a difference to me though. Afterward, she booked another appointment for 3 weeks. She asked me to speak with her outside the grooming room. I was astonished by what came next. She asked if I could remove my Yelp review. I spent hours speaking to several customer service representatives about a product I needed for my cat which is prescribed by a vet. It took me three phone calls to make sure that this particular item was in stock. After all this dedicated research I ordered it and it was not an easy job setting up an account. Still I did it, and I placed the order. Then I was hit with a bunch of direct marketing in the guise of a thank you gift. Very tacky. I doubt I am the only person who's pet is super finicky with his eating habits. I sheepishly came here not to long ago with bags of unopened cat food to return. The area isn't the best and trying to get into the parking lot from Sunrise Highway will take you longer than the actual time it takes inside the store. I try to avoid Green Acres as much as I possibly can but can't let my cat go hungry. I have tried all the big name pet stores and they just don't compare to Petsmart. This store always has what I am looking for and lots of it. The people that work there are friendly and are always making sure the aisles are stocked, the pet accidents are cleaned up quick, and diligently work to keep the store organized. Petsmart has the lowest prices I have seen on canned and dry cat foods, my aquarium supplies, and they always have half off sales on pet toys. I usually pick up a toy for my friends dog while I am here too. They sell birds, chinchillas, hamsters, gerbils and guinea pigs along with snakes, lizards and other creepy crawlers! The fish section is great! They have tanks upon tanks of fish from goldfish to exotic fish. The tanks are always crystal clean and cool to look at. I could stand in that department all day! They usually display the "New" items at the front of the aisles and I did pick up some new cans of food to give my cat. Lets hope he likes it! After filling my basket up with my Klumzee's (my cat) essentials, I always go over to the area where they have cats for adoption. They look so cute I just want to take them all home. I have been taking my dog to this Petsmart for 9 months now for shots and grooming. I've left the dog there twice without me for grooming purposes. The first was for them to cut her hair. After taking her home that time, I gave her a bath and noticed she had a bump on her head. I let that go and thought she might have moved and hurt herself. The next time I took her was today, for her nails to get cut. While checking her nails at home I noticed that one of her nails was dangling very gently from her paw. I am putting one star not because I wanted but that is the only way I can make a huge complain at PetSmart groomers in Valley Stream, I wish I can do more to the groomers since my dog still traumatized 10 days after her visit, I make her appointment 10 days before at 10am for her grooming, (even I called myself to confirm my appointment) so when I get there I wait probably 15 minutes and they call us in, I left her there and came back after an 1 hour and my dog still was in a cage (even more stressed) groomer told me they will call me a soon she's done, after three hours I went back because they never called me and of course I was worried about my dog, and as soon I get there one groomer (lady) had it on the table screaming on top of her lungs next to my dog, I sow my dog shaking and scared so I went inside asking why she's yelling like that, I was so worried about my dog because she's not used to be treated like that!!! I sow my dog with NO haircut yet so I asked what was the reason after all this time? they just giving me excuses and telling me that my dog was not behaving but nobody was calling me to inform me any of that!! So what I did is I took my stressed out dog out of that room and I left!! i soon I got to my house my poor dog was laying down looking like she was about to pass out with her both eyes tearing and her right one hardly opened! She didn't eat anything (not even her favorite treats) and I was forcing her to drink water at least). The first person at the front desk was helpful explained all the questions I had since it was my first time. She did mention first time free consultation. I did happen to check my emails and got the free consultation coupon sent to me. When called to be seen. No one wore gloves. Nurse took my dogs temp didn't wear gloves temp. Was taken from his but so I would expect anyone to wear gloves. Vet came in didn't wear gloves either. He had monitor case of fleas a week ago and wanted to get him checked to see if he was all clear. Once the vet was aware she was scared to even touch him. My boyfriend and I had to hold my dog up and move him in different ways so she can check him. When checking his belly area she saw a flea and so did my boyfriend and he was trying to get it but couldn't because he was holding our dog at the same time.I don't understand that's her job, maybe if she wore gloves with all patients she would be okay i don't know she just backed away and mentioned some medications and left. The nurse followed her out and that's when I looked for the flea and got it out. The nurse cane back in right in time she gave me somewhere to put the flea and dispose of. This place honestly is no help. One of the medications given was for his allergic reaction to the flea bites and one for itching and irritation. I was in disbelief of how vets and nurses handle things. I just wanted to pay and leave. I payed got my receipt. Checked it and noticed I was charged for the consultation. I didn't back to a guy who was at the front now and let him know all he said was if the coupon wasn't printed than it wasn't granted. Which doesn't make any sense nowhere on the coupon does it say must be printed. I couldn't take being in this place any longer my boyfriend came up to me and said let's just go. I wouldn't recommend anyone to waste they're time here it's not sanitary, they will check your pet after checking another one without gloves. When I spoke with the first male he did not offer any help and told me to call the adoption center, which is the prompt I put in, then he told me to call back in 2 minutes so he could give me information. I called back and another slightly better than clueless individual named Joseph picked up and after starting to explain to him stated very defensively that wasn't me who picked up last time, after asking for the information he put me on hold, but when he came back gave me false information about the website not spelling it out and basically so I could not get a hold of it, then when I asked him to spell it out because he offered three different iterations if it , he said he could not stay on the phone he doesn't work for them, but I said you work for pet smart who works with them for adoptions and I would like to get ahold of them regarding adopting pets that I saw at pet smart and may be up for adoption. Then Joseph exclaims he won't spell it out because he can't spell and hung up. Very nasty. The store is great.. I'm not fond of the grooming though. I will shop there as there's a good variety of items and selections and the staff has so far been pleasant and helpful. However I will not use their grooming services again. I have a Yorkie and you need to use scissors as well as the machine and it didn't appear as if the scissors were used at all. I do not want to accuse them, but my dog also caught fleas within a couple days after his grooming. He only goes to our backyard and hadn't been around other pets so it is a probability that he got them there. :( read more
